Effect of Horticultural Therapy on Activities of Daily Living and Interpersonal Relation of Institutionalized Intellectual Disabilities (공동생활시설 내 지적 장애인의 일상생활동작 및 대인관계에 미치는 원예치료의 영향)

  • This study was conducted to clarify the effect of horticultural therapy on activities of daily living and interpersonal relation of institutionalized intellectual disabilities. The experiment was performed with 8 controls and 8 experiments of J institution in Yongdam, Jeju. Horticultural therapy program was performed once a week for 2 hours total 20 times from Mar. 2009 through mid July 2009. Evaluation in activities of daily living indicated that all functions except eating showed no change or worsened in controls, however, all functions except moving were improved in experimental subjects. Interpersonal relation evaluation showed no difference from 42.25 to 42.25 in control, but increased 8.62 points from 41.75 to 50.37 showing very significant change at the level of 99% in experimental subjects. Group activity evaluation increased very significantly at the level of 99% in physical/perceptual abilities, social interaction, cognitive ability, emotion status, and vocational interests. From the above results, horticultural therapy proved effectively in activities of daily living and interpersonal relation of institutionalized intellectual disabilities.

A Study on the Enhancement of DEM Resolution by Radar Interferometry (레이더 간섭기법을 이용한 수치고도모델 해상도 향상에 관한 연구)

  • Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) were generated by ERS-l/2 and JERS-1 SAR interferometry in Daejon area, Korea. The quality of the DEM's was evaluated by the Ground Control Points (GCPs) in city area where GCPs were determined by GPS surveys, while in the mountain area with no GCPs, a 1:25,000 digital map was used. In order to minimize errors due to the inaccurate satellite orbit information and the phase unwrapping procedure, a Differential InSAR (DInSAR) was implemented in addition to the traditional InSAR analysis for DEM generation. In addition, DEMs from GTOPO30, SRTM-3, and 1:25,000 digital map were used for assessment the resolution of the DEM generated from DInSAR. 5-6 meters of elevation errors were found in the flat area regardless of the usage and the resolution of DEM, as a result of InSAR analyzing with a pair of ERS tandem and 6 pairs of JERS-1 interferograms. In the mountain area, however, DInSAR with DEMs from SRTM-3 and the digital map was found to be very effective to reduce errors due to phase unwrapping procedure. Also errors due to low signal-to-noise ratio of radar images and atmospheric effect were attenuated in the DEMs generated from the stacking of 6 pairs of JERS-1. SAR interferometry with multiple pairs of SAR interferogram with low resolution DEM can be effectively used to enhance the resolution of DEM in terms of data processing time and cost.

Erosion and Recovery of Coastal Dunes after Tropical Storms (태풍의 통과로 인한 해안사구 지형의 침식과 회복)

  • Coastal dunes help stabilize the coastal landscape and protect the hinterland through dynamic interaction with sand beaches. Sometimes dune erosion occurs during the tropical cyclones, while dune recovery may naturally follow after the event. As the typhoon Kompasu passed through the Korean Peninsula early-September in 2010, it caused a rise in water in association with the storm, wave run-ups, and heavy rains in coastal areas. As the result, coastal dunes along the west coast of Korea were severely damaged during the storm. However, the degree and extent of erosion and recovery of dunes were found to be related with the condition of beach-dune systems including gradients of foreshore and front slope of the dune, sediment supply, vegetation, wind activity, and human interferences. Some dunes retreated landward more and more after the erosional event, while others recovered its original profile by aeolian transport processes mainly during the winter season. Vegetated dunes with pine trees were less recovered after the erosion than grass-covered dunes. In addition, dunes with artificial defense were more eroded and less recovered than those without hard constructions. According to the observation after the severe storm, it is likely that the sand transport process is critical to the dune recovery. Therefore, the interactions between beach and dune must be properly evaluated from a geomorphological perspective for the effective management of coastal dunes, including natural recovery after the erosion by storm events.

Design of Indoor Electric Moving and Lifting Wheelchair with Minimum Rotation Radius and Obstacle Overcoming (최소 회전반경 및 장애물 극복형 실내 전동 이·승강 휠체어의 설계)

  • In this paper, a minimum rotation radius was designed and fabricated to overcome the threshold so that elderly or disabled people who have difficulty moving can move and transfer safely and conveniently in a narrow room. In the indoor environment, where the sedentary culture develops, this study aimed to provide convenience for passengers with fracture diseases, geriatric diseases, and other knee and waist diseases. First, links, seats, armrests, covers, motors, batteries, chargers, controllers, etc. were attached to the frame so that they could be moved and lifted indoors. The product design and structure were designed considering the user's environment and physical characteristics, and IoT functions were added. A driving experiment was performed to confirm the operating performance of the manufactured indoor moving and lifting wheelchair. The performance tests, such as continuous running time, turning radius, maximum actuator load, maximum lift height, sound pressure level, minimum sensing distance of the driving aid sensor, interworking of server and app programs, device compatibility, and duty cycle error rate, were performed. As a result of the test, the built-in wheelchair could achieve the performance test target of each item and operate successfully.

  • 유사 입자의 크기는 유사의 특성 및 그에 따른 거동 변화에 중요한 영향을 미친다. Stokes 침강 속도 모형에서 유사의 침강 속도에 가장 많은 영향을 주는 인자는 유사의 크기인 것 또한 확인된다. 유사 입자의 크기가 약 $60{\mu}m$보다 작은 유사들은 알갱이 사이의 점착력을 무시할 수 없다. 이로 인해 유사들은 응집 현상을 겪으며 입자 본래의 크기보다 크기가 큰 플럭을 형성하는 점착성 유사로 분류된다. 응집 현상이란, 흐름 내 점착성을 띠는 일차입자(Primary Particle)가 응집과 파괴를 반복하며 플럭을 형성하는 현상을 뜻한다. 입자 간의 충돌을 통해 응집이 진행되며 난류 전단으로 인해 형성된 플럭의 파괴가 발생한다. 많은 연구에서 점착성 유사의 충돌을 야기하는 가장 지배적인 원리는 난류라 알려져 있다. 이러한 응집 현상으로 인하여 플럭의 크기와 밀도는 지속적으로 변화를 겪으며 비점착성 유사와 다른 특징들을 보인다. 흐름에 존재하는 유사의 이동은 이송-확산 방정식을 통해 표현된다. 이송-확산 방정식은 시간 변화에 따른 농도의 변화를 입자의 침강과 난류 및 유사 자체의 특징에 의한 확산으로 해석한다. 침강속도로 대변되는 이송과 달리, 확산은 난류흐름 내에서 유사가 확산되는 정도를 정량화하기 위한 인자가 요구된다. 난류에 의한 유사의 확산은 유사 자체 특성에 따른 물질 확산에 비하여 매우 큰 값을 가지며, 이를 확산 계수로 개념화 한다. 확산계수는 와점성계수와 Schmidt 수(${\sigma}_c$)의 비로 정의된다. ${\sigma}_c$는 난류의 점성과 난류로 인한 부유과정에 의해 유사가 확산되는 정도를 나타낸다. 이에 따라 ${\sigma}_c$의 변화가 유사의 부유 및 침강거동에 많은 영향을 미칠 것이라 판단되나, 국내외에서 수행된 연구 동향에서는 ${\sigma}_c$를 0.5부터 1.0 사이의 상수를 적용하여 수행되었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 ${\sigma}_c$의 크기에 따라 달라지는 유사의 부유 및 침강 변화에 의한 총 부유량을 살펴보고자 한다. 유사의 점착성을 고려할 수 있는 1DV 수치 모형을 이용하여 비점착성 유사와 점착성 유사를 대상으로 수치연구를 수행하며, 유사의 크기 및 ${\sigma}_c$의 변화에 따른 총 부유량 경향을 살펴본다. 그 결과, 점착성 유사는 ${\sigma}_c$의 증가에 따라서 유사의 총 부유량이 증가하는 현상이 나타난 반면 비점착성 유사는 ${\sigma}_c$의 증가에 따라 유사의 총 부유량이 감소하는 경향이 나타났다. 그러나 크기가 아주 작은 비점착성 유사를 대상으로 수치 연구를 수행한 결과, ??에 따른 총 부유량의 경향은 유사의 점착성에서 기인하는 것이 아닌 입자의 크기로부터 야기되는 특성이라는 결론이 도출되었다.

  • In this paper, the development of unmanned vehicle systems to analysis applicable communications and alternative IEEE 802.11a. IEEE 802.11b/g uses the 2.4GHz. So, using the 5GHz OFDM in IEEE 802.11a interference phenomenon better. IEEE 802.11a has a maximum speed of 54Mbps. Indoors and apartment parking on experiment to soft roaming, hard roaming. Test equipments are AP four units(RSU), reliable results for the AP one unit Bridge, Switch one unit, one server notebook, one notebook(OBU), one car. Use Softwares are Wireshark, Jperf, Ping and million second transfer was used to develop the program. So the actual car was similar to the environment. With the results of the experiment for the unmanned vehicle systems will provide the best method.

  • As we can see at the oil spill occident on the coast of Taean, the viscosity of the spilled oil becomes thicker as time goes by. It becomes waste oil with the form of tar. It moves to other areas following a tide. When the temperature of the water goes up, the viscosity becomes lighter and forms oil film. It repeats the process spreading to and polluting extensive areas where the tide reaches. People have used hand nets to collect waste oil of tar at the sea. But it is very difficult for them to collect the tar type waste oil spread on large areas before it reaches to the beach. This paper tried to find a way to collect the tar type waste oil efficiently. It used absorption mat of boom type that uses the attachment characteristics of the tar type waste oil and floating waste recovery device of net type. It tested the possibility of using the devices at the oil spill accident on the beach of Taean. The result showed that net type recovery device was much more efficient in collecting the waste oil in short time than the hand net system of people. It confirmed that the net type recovery device could be used to collect tar type waste oil.

Performance Verification of WAVE Communication Technology for Railway Application (차량용 무선통신기술(WAVE)의 철도 적용을 위한 성능검증)

  • Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments (WAVE) communication technology, which provides vehicleto-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication and offers safe and convenient service, has been developed for application to an Intelligent Transport System (ITS). This paper provides field test results on a study of the feasibility of WAVE technology application to railway communication systems. A test railway communication system based on WAVE technology has been built along the Daebul line and a newly developed EMU. Field tests have been carried out according to the communication function requirements for LTE - R. The test results show that the railway communication system based on WAVE technology meets the functional requirements: maximum transmission length is 730m, maximum transfer delay is 5.69ms, and maximum interruption time is 1.36s; other tests including throughput test, video data transmission test, VoIP data test, and channel switching test also produced results that meets the functional requirements. These results suggest that WAVE technology can be applied to the railway communication system, enabling Vehicle-to-Wayside communication.

Differentiation of Sorptive Bindings of Some Radionuclides with Sequential Chemical Extractions in Sandstones (순차적화학추출법을 사용한 방사성핵종의 사암에 대한 수착유형 평가)

  • Sorption experiments of $^{60}$ Co, $^{85}$ Sr. and $^{137}$ Cs onto sandstone particles in a batch were carried out to investigate the migration mobility. Sorption kinetics and reversibility as well as sorption mechanisms were examined. Sorption reaction occurred mostly within 10 hours on the outer surface of the sandstone particle but diffusion into the inner surface of the mineral has still occurred after that time. In order to distinguish sorption types of radionuclides, a sequential chemical extraction was introduced. The sorbed radionuclides were then extracted by applying different solutions of synthetic groundwater, CaCl$_2$, KCl and KOX-HA Especially KCl is adopted to extract the ion-exchanged cesium. Sorption types considered are reversible sorption under groundwater condition, ion exchange, association with ferro-manganese oxides or oxyhydroxides, and irreversible fixation. Strontium sorbs onto the sandstone surface mainly by fast and reversible ion exchange reaction. However, cobalt and cesium do not sorb by simple process. The main sorptive binding of cobalt was the association with ferro-manganese oxides and the secondary one was irreversible fixation. Diffusion into the lattice of minerals controlled the sorption rate of cobalt The main sorptin type of cesium was irreversible fixation, while ion exchange reaction was the secondary importance. Hence the oreder of migration mobility for the three radionuclides was Sr$^{2+}$ > Co$^{2+}$ > Cs$^{+}$ in the sandstones.

Comparing the Possible Complications of Endoscopy Dependent on Time in Caustic Poisoned Patients (부식제 중독 환자에서 시간에 따른 내시경 합병증 비교)

  • Purpose: Endoscopy has been recommended as a primary procedure for determining the extent of damage and prognosis in patients with caustic ingestions. Endoscopy within the first 24 hours has been suggested, however, such immediate endoscopy is not always possible. Therefore, we wanted to determine complications and possible delayed sequelae after the endoscopy performed dependent on time, including less than 24 hours and more than 24 hours, after ingestion of relatively high toxic caustic agents. Methods: From January 2005 to May 2013, 105 consecutive patients were diagnosed with caustic poisoning in the emergency department of the Wonju Severance Christian Hospital. Out of 95 patients who underwent endoscopy, while excluding 49 patients who ingested sodium hypochlorite and 15 patients due to insufficient data, 41 patients were ultimately included. We compared general characteristics, complications related to endoscopy, late sequelae, total admission length, and mortality between two groups. Results: Twenty eight patients (68.3%) were diagnosed with acid ingestion. Median endoscopy time was 17.8 (IQR 9.7-36.9) hours and performed in 16 patients (39%) after 24 hours. There were no complications, such as perforation and bleeding in either endoscopy within 24 hours group or endoscopy after 24 hours group. In addition, no difference in ingested materials, endoscopy grade, or late sequelae was observed between endoscopy within 24 hours group and endoscopy after 24 hours group. Conclusion: No difference in complications and late sequelae was observed between endoscopy within 24 hours group and endoscopy after 24 hours group when endoscopy was performed based on a clinician's assessment.
