Deep Learning-based Object Detection of Panels Door Open in Underground Utility Tunnel (딥러닝 기반 지하공동구 제어반 문열림 인식)

  • Purpose: Underground utility tunnel is facility that is jointly house infrastructure such as electricity, water and gas in city, causing condensation problems due to lack of airflow. This paper aims to prevent electricity leakage fires caused by condensation by detecting whether the control panel door in the underground utility tunnel is open using a deep learning model. Method: YOLO, a deep learning object recognition model, is trained to recognize the opening and closing of the control panel door using video data taken by a robot patrolling the underground utility tunnel. To improve the recognition rate, image augmentation is used. Result: Among the image enhancement techniques, we compared the performance of the YOLO model trained using mosaic with that of the YOLO model without mosaic, and found that the mosaic technique performed better. The mAP for all classes were 0.994, which is high evaluation result. Conclusion: It was able to detect the control panel even when there were lights off or other objects in the underground cavity. This allows you to effectively manage the underground utility tunnel and prevent disasters.

Evaluation Model for Lateral Flow on Soft Ground Using Commitee and Probabilistic Neural Network Theory (군집신경망과 확률신경망 이론을 이용한 연약지반의 측방유동 평가 모델)

  • Recently, there have been many construction projects on soft ground with growth of industry and various construction problems concerning soft soil behavior also have been reported. Especially, foundation piles of abutments and (or) buildings which were constructed on the soft ground have been suffering from a lot of stability problems of inordinary displacement due to lateral flow of soft ground. Although many researches for this phenomena have been carried out, it is still difficult to assess the mechanism of lateral flow on soft ground quantitatively. And reliable design method for judgement of lateral flow occurrence is not established yet. In this study, PNN (probabilistic neural network) and CNN (committee neural network) theories were applied for judgment of lateral flow occurrence based on eat data compiled from Korea and Japan. Predictions of PNN and CNN models for new data which were not used during model development are compared with those predicted by conventional empirical methods. It was found that the developed PNN and CNN models can predict more precise and reliable judgment of lateral flow occurrence than conventional empirical methods.

  • 도시화와 산업화에 따른 유출환경의 변화로 인해 도심지에서 발생하는 대부분의 유출은 도로표면을 따라 이동하고 도로변에 설치된 빗물받이에 의해 배수된다. 이 때 빗물이 원활하게 배수되지 않아 노면수가 정체되고, 이 노면수가 인근 주택지로 유입되어 침수 피해가 발생한다. 이러한 현상은 유출량이 집중되는 도심지 저지대에서 주로 발생하며 설계 한도를 초과하지 않는 정상적인 강우 조건에서도 빈번히 나타나고 있다. 이는 최근의 기후 변화로 인한 집중 호우 등을 고려하여 설계 기준이 지속적으로 조정되어야 함과 동시에 도로 노면수의 배수 능력 평가를 위한 실제적인 연구가 이루어져야 한다는 필요성을 나타내고 있다. 특히 도로 빗물받이의 효율은 주로 종경사 및 횡경사 등의 도로 조건, 표면 유출 우수량, 빗물받이의 형상 등에 의존한다. 그러므로 상향된 설계빈도 및 도로 조건을 고려한 도로 표면 유출에 대한 흐름 분석과 빗물받이 특성을 고려한 실증연구의 분석 및 설계 해석 알고리즘의 개발이 시급한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 도로 노면수의 배수 능력 증대를 위해 연속 설치된 빗물받이 조건 및 도로 경사조건을 고려하여 도로 배수시설의 표면 유출 모델 설계 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 표면 유출 유량은 도로의 차선(2~4차선), 경사(종경사 2~10% 및 횡경사 2~10%) 및 설계빈도(최대 30년)를 고려하였으며 유량이 노면 진행방향을 따라 연속적으로 증가하는 부등류 흐름 해석 방법을 채택하였다. 또한, 빗물받이 설치간격(L)과 도로의 폭(W)의 곱으로 계산되는 단순 직사각형 형태의 노면 형상이 아닌 도로 종경사 및 횡경사에 따른 유달거리를 산정하여 평행사변형 형태의 노면 형상을 계산하고 이에 따른 면적(A), 도달시간(tc) 및 강우강도(I)를 산정하였다. 이와 같은 1차원 흐름분석을 통해 도로 표면흐름 및 빗물받이 설치 간격을 제시하고 기존의 제시된 빗물받이 설치 간격과 비교하여 본 연구에서 제시한 설계 알고리즘을 검증하였다. 또한, 수리 실험을 통해 측정된 빗물받이 차집효율을 이용하여 연속 구간에서의 도로 표면 유출 모델의 적용성을 제시하였다. 이는 빗물받이 유입구를 통해 모든 유량이 유출된다고 가정하고 단독 구간에서의 수리분석 결과만을 고려하여 이를 확장시켜 개발된 기존의 도로 표면 유출 모델을 보완할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 본 연구에서 제시하고 있는 설계 알고리즘을 적용한다면 도로 전체 구간에서의 흐름 변화 분석과 배수효율의 정량적인 분석이 가능하므로 향후 도로 표면 침수 피해 저감 및 배수능력 증대를 위한 실증적이고 정량적인 분석 방법이 될 것으로 판단된다.

A Study on the Plan for Wide Road's Streetscape by Simulation of Streetscape's Components - As a Sample Wide Area Road in Busan - (도로경관의 구성요소 제어를 통한 광역도로 경관형성에 관한 연구 - 부산시 광역도로사례를 중심으로 -)

  • The urban street has been escaped from functional and uniformed arrangement for merely movement to the space which can take the role of cozy and familiar culture. Therefore I tried to prepare a plan for the wide roads having streetscape which reveal area's identity as well as coziness and convenience by grasping the problem and its solution through analysing and deducing various elements with the subject of streetscape among urban landscape components, especially composing wide road's streetscape. First of all, this study made a simulation by deducing components of wide road's streetscape and controlling them with theoretical review of streetscape and consideration of wide road's local characteristic. With the evaluation on the base of them, that following four components could be the representative things of entrance part was confirmed by this study. They were familiar streetscape,symbolic scene as as an entrance gate, continuous and dynamic streetscape, and interesting and pleasant streetscape. And for the middle part, those four components could represent the wide road's streetscapeI were confirmed. They were familiar streetscape, safe and tender streetscape, pleasant and dynamic streetscape, and symbolic streetscape. It seems that the components of the streetscape obtained from the analysis of this study are utilized as reference data in the case of a future streetscape design conclusively.

A Study on Trip Generation Model considering Trip-chaining by Behavioral Homogeneous Person Group ("유사 통행행태 집단"의 Trip-chaining을 고려한 통행발생 모형)

  • The rapid changes of family structure such as singles, working couples and so on have effects on a travel behaviour. One of the characteristics from this is the increasing portion of trip-chain, in which plural activities were conducted in a "single outgoing" travel. Therefore travel must be considered as location change to conduct various activities instead of pursuing single travel purpose. This paper specifies a behavioral homogeneous person group by a job, a possession of cars. Based on this classification of person groups and their activity diary, the sequence, time and travel mode of activities in a day can be verified. As a case study household survey was conducted in city Kongju. The survey result shows that the classification of behavioral homogeneous person group based on criteria like employment status and car ownership bring a good result to forecast trip generation in traffic zone.

Analysis study on substances subject to management using long-term water quality monitoring data in tributaries of the Nakdong River basin (낙동강유역 지류에서의 장기 수질모니터링 자료를 이용한 관리 대상물질 분석 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to use long-term water quality monitoring data from tributaries of the Nakdong River system to identify problematic substances in tributaries by examining the rate of exceedance and increase in water quality targets. In the Nakdong River system, monitoring is conducted once a month for 38 tributaries that require intensive management, and this data was used to analyze trends in exceeding and increasing target water quality at each point. The analysis items are eight items that can be evaluated based on river water quality standards: DO, BOD, COD, TOC, SS, total phosphorus, fecal coliform, and total coliform. As a result of the analysis, the target water quality exceedance rate was more than 50%, and the items with an increasing trend were TOC, fecal coliform and total E. coli counts, and the items with an exceedance rate of less than 50% but an increasing trend were SS. TOC is believed to be caused by an increase in non-degradable substances, and the continued increase in Total Coliform will require management of Total ColiformTotal Coliform in effluent water from sewage treatment facilities in the future.

Application of the EIASS for Assessing Changes in Terrain Features in Development Initiatives: A Case Study in South Korea (환경영향평가정보지원시스템(EIASS)을 활용한 국내 주요 개발사업의 지형변화 검토)

  • This study conducted an analysis of terrain change indicators in major development projects in Korea, examining the correlation between terrain change indicators to derive foundational terrain change metrics based on different land use and slope types. The aim is to contribute to sustainable development by enhancing the efficiency of land utilization and landscaping, while minimizing environmental impacts in future development endeavors. Additionally, to apply the research findings in practical contexts, domestic regulations related to terrain were surveyed, and the compatibility and usability between these regulations and research analysis results were discussed. Based on this, the study seeks to explore strategies for more accurate and useful utilization of terrain change indicators in future research. As a result, in the tourism development, terrain changes predominantly occur in the order of flat land, hillly land, and mountain land, with the analysis indicating higher terrain changes in undulating hilly and mountainous lands compared to flat land. Furthermore, in industrial complex development, very steep (20°-30°) and extreme (30°-40°) slopes; in urban development projects, steep slope (15°-20°); in athletic service facility and tourist development, steep (15°-20°) and very steep (20°-30°) exhibit higher average terrain change indicators compared to other slope categories. The findings of our study can contribute to the formulation of strategies aimed at minimizing terrain disturbance in future domestic development projects and serve as foundational data for environmental impact assessments.

Prediction of Water Storage Rate for Agricultural Reservoirs Using Univariate and Multivariate LSTM Models (단변량 및 다변량 LSTM을 이용한 농업용 저수지의 저수율 예측)

  • Out of the total 17,000 reservoirs in Korea, 13,600 small agricultural reservoirs do not have hydrological measurement facilities, making it difficult to predict water storage volume and appropriate operation. This paper examined univariate and multivariate long short-term memory (LSTM) modeling to predict the storage rate of agricultural reservoirs using remote sensing and artificial intelligence. The univariate LSTM model used only water storage rate as an explanatory variable, and the multivariate LSTM model added n-day accumulative precipitation and date of year (DOY) as explanatory variables. They were trained using eight years data (2013 to 2020) for Idong Reservoir, and the predictions of the daily water storage in 2021 were validated for accuracy assessment. The univariate showed the root-mean square error (RMSE) of 1.04%, 2.52%, and 4.18% for the one, three, and five-day predictions. The multivariate model showed the RMSE 0.98%, 1.95%, and 2.76% for the one, three, and five-day predictions. In addition to the time-series storage rate, DOY and daily and 5-day cumulative precipitation variables were more significant than others for the daily model, which means that the temporal range of the impacts of precipitation on the everyday water storage rate was approximately five days.

Study on the Factors Affecting the Richness Index of Bird Species in Environmental Impact Assessment (환경영향평가에서 조류 종풍부도 변화에 미치는 요인 고찰 연구)

  • As the seriousness of habitat destruction caused by development projects emerges, the importance of environmental impact assessment (EIA) is increasing to preserve biodiversity. In previous studies, research is being conducted to quantitatively evaluate the biodiversity impact of development factors and surrounding environmental factors on the landscape scale, but research on the factors affecting the reduction of biodiversity based on development projects is insufficient. This study examined whether independent variables (size of development project, type of the development, DEM, ecosystem and nature map, distance from the green land, distance from the protected area), which have been proven to effect biodiversity through the previous researches, have a significant effect on the change of richness index (RI) through multi-class logistic regression analysis, T-test, and analysis of the development type. As a result, only the size of development project and the first richness index in EIA showed p-value less than 0.05. And it was confirmed that the reduction in biodiversity was significantly changed in the following construction types: installation of sports facilities, energy development, and development of industrial location and industrial complex. Since the results of this study confirmed that the impact of the variables may be inconsistent depending on the analysis scale, additional study of necessary indicators at the development project is needed to analyze biodiversity changes in EIA accurately.

  • Recently, agricultural methods are changing from experience-based agriculture to data-based agriculture. Changes in agricultural production due to the 4th Industrial Revolution are largely occurring in three areas: smart sensing and monitoring, smart analysis and planning, and smart control. In order to realize open-field smart agriculture, information on the physical and chemical properties of soil is essential. Conventional physicochemical measurements are conducted in a laboratory after collecting samples, which consumes a lot of cost, labor, and time, so they are quickly measured in the field. Measurement technology that can do this is urgently needed. In addition, a soil analysis system that can be carried and moved by the measurer and used in Korea's rice fields, fields, and facility houses is needed. To solve this problem, our goal is to develop and commercialize software that can collect soil samples and analyze the information. In this study, basic soil composition measurement was conducted using soil composition measurement sensors consisting of hardness measurement and electrode sensors. Through future research, we plan to develop a system that applies soil sampling using a CCD camera, ultrasonic sensor, and sampler. Therefore, we implemented a sensor and soil analysis UI that can measure and analyze the soil condition in real time, such as hardness measurement display using a load cell and moisture, PH, and EC measurement display using conductivity.
