Soft liner is used to functional impression technique when dental stone is immediately poured after taking impression because of viscoelasticity. In this case, a 78-year-old male visited for new dentures. Due to severe resorption of mandibular edentulous ridge, functional impression taking by closed mouth technique was planned. First of all, making maxillary and mandibular provisional dentures was done, and lined by soft liner to rehabilitate pressured maxillary and mandibular edentulous ridge. After this, Functional impression was taken by closed mouth technique using provisional dentures which are transformed to healed maxillary and mandibular edentulous ridge, and final denture were fabricated using maxillary provisional denture as a reference of artificial teeth arrangement. Consequently, restoring a complete edentulous patient with taking functional impression using provisional dentures resulted in recovering satisfying retention and function.

In edentulous patient, not only mastication and pronunciation but also esthetics are compromised. By restoring an edentulous patient with complete dentures, masticatory function and esthetics can be rehabilitated. The advantages of the dentures using CAD/CAM are that they can be reconstructed ubiquitously with stored data, and the strength and density of CAD/CAM material are clinically acceptable. In this clinical report, interocclusal record was taken in a conventional manner and then two lab processing procedures were performed: conventional method and CAD/CAM method. Two types of processing procedures were compared and evaluated. Fair clinical results were obtained in both ways, satisfying the patient.

When restoration for partially edentulous patients, abutments are not always in favorable positions for making removable partial dentures. Because of these situations, patients are sometimes unsatisfied with the stability and support of their removable partial prostheses. In this regard, removable partial denture using a few implant surveyed crown prostheses can be a good alternative. It can be expected to increase stability and support of removable partial dentures by strategically placing a small number of implants and restoring with implant-supported surveyed crowns. In these cases, the patients who had unilateral residual teeth on mandible were treated with two implant surveyed crowns in the tactical place to have bilateral distribution. After definitive removable partial prosthesis, the patients showed satisfaction with the masticatory function and comfort of using removable dentures.

This study attempts to find factors contributing to the use pattern of prosthetics by investigating the current condition of prosthetics for the aged of over 65 years old by place of practice. Among those of over 65 years old who live in Gangnam-gu, Seocho-gu, Seongbuk-gu, and Gwanak-gu of Seoul and use the apartment senior's center, those having prosthetics were selected as subjects of this study, and this study was conducted in forms of interview and record. Findings of this study are summarized as follows: First, in regard of the state of prosthetics and relevant symptoms in the mouth according to the place of prosthetics practice, there was significant difference in the questions except the medical benefit of prosthetics between unlicensed facilities and dental clinics and hospitals. Second, regarding difference in satisfaction according to the place of prosthetics practice, dental clinics and hospitals showed a higher level of aesthetic satisfaction than unlicensed facilities. For difference in satisfaction at pronunciation, chewing, pain, a sense of foreign body, and holding power, dental clinics and hospitals showed a higher level than unlicensed facilities, Third, after factor analysis on the perception factors of unlicensed treatment and dental treatment, unlicensed facilities showed the highest level of reliability, and then convenience, word of mouth, and modernity in order. Dental clinics and hospitals also showed the highest level of reliability, however, and then convenience, modernity, and word of mouth in order. Fourth, as a consequence of analyzing the factors to influence the use pattern of prosthetics, regarding residential pattern, there were higher possibilities to use dental clinics and hospitals when the subjects lived together with their children and in Gangnam, and the more were the number of pyeong for the residence, pocket money, medical expense, and property in their name, compared to unlicensed facilities. In conclusion, economic factors appear to be the most important factors in selecting facilities for denture prosthodontics. Therefore, it is important to ensure the denture prosthodontics for the elderly are reimbursable so that they can enjoy a healthier life.

When wearing complete dentures, patients want to function naturally within a physiologically stable range. To do this, recovery of esthetics, biologically stable arrangement and contour, and occlusal contacts with denture stability are necessary. In this case report, a complete denture patient of adverse conditions was presented. To increase stability of the dentures, functional impression was made by border molding using the neutral zone. The dentures were checked for physiological centric relations and stable occlusion. The clinical results showed satisfactory results on function and esthetics.

Loss of tooth results in remodeling and resorption of surrounding alveolar bone which causes atrophic edentulous ridge and gradually decreasing gingival attachment. As a result, edentulous patients face difficulty in using dentures due to pain, decrease of support, decline of masticatory efficiency of complete denture. To improve this, overdenture with implant in the mandible and attachment are considered as a treatment of choice as a favorable treatment. In this case, a patient with edentulous ridge for long period is rehabilitated by complete denture in maxilla and implant overdenture using Locator$^{(R)}$ attachment in mandible.

국소의치에 있어서 인공치는 기능적 관점에서와 심미적 관점에서 중요한 구성요소중의 하나이다. 구치는 저작기능을 회복시켜주며 악궁간 거리를 유지하여 주며 상실된 안모의 형태를 회복시켜준다. 전치는 저작기능의 회복뿐만 아니라 심미성을 회복시켜주며 발음 기능에 있어 중요한 역할을 한다. 이러한 인공치의 기능을 위해서는 인공치는 여러 요구조건을 갖게되는데, 무치악 공간에 잘 맞아야 하며 metal framework에 잘 맞아야 하고 깨지지 말아야 하며 마모되지 않아야 하고 유해한 작용이 없이 어떤 교합형태를 갖거나 어떤 재료로 되어 있는 치아이던지 잘 교합될 수 있어야 한다. 이러한 이상적인 인공치는 없으나 국소의치의 요구를 만족시켜줄 수 있는 여러 종류의 인공치의 이용이 가능하므로 이러한 인공치의 장점과 단점을 이해하여 국소의치 제작시 가장 적당한 인공치를 선택하여 사용하는 것이 중요하다.

For individuals with cleft lip and palate, the removable partial dentures (RPDs) have been an important treatment option. Some modifications from conventional prosthetic treatment may be necessary to achieve satisfactory functional and esthetic results in cleft patients. In case of cleft palate patient with periodontally compromised and only posterior few remaining teeth, removable partial prosthesis connected to telescopic crown can be the alternative treatment option. When connected to the RPD, telescopic crowns increase the prosthetic stability and retention, optimize favorable force transmission to the long dental axis, and improve esthetics. And the cross arch stabilization of double crown denture helps to stabilize both divided maxillary ridges in CLP patient. This case present one adult CLP patient using an RPD connected with hybrid telescopic crowns with friction pins to improve not only retention and stability but also aesthetics.

Implant overdenture exhibits higher retention, masticatory function, and patient's satisfaction compared to conventional dentures. Particularly, in treatment of severe alveolar bone resorption, implant overdenture can be considered as the first treatment option. The types of attachments used for implant overdenture can be classified into solitary type, which implants are not connected to each other, and bar type in which implants are connected. In the case of solitary type commonly used in clinical practice, parallel relationship is important. When it is not established, there is a higher risk of attachment wear, retention loss, and frequent visits for maintenance. In this case, satisfactory results have been obtained with implant overdentures using milled bar on two unparallel implants placed on the mandible.

Long-term alveolar bone resorption in edentulous patient causes difficulty in denture use. Applying an implant overdenture with 2 to 4 implants to edentulous patient is easily approachable. Moreover, it improves denture stability, support, and retention. Milled bar, the attachment used in implant overdenture, can be used to induce better stability and retention to the supporting structure than conventional bar. It has become convenient to use due to the development of CAD/CAM system which had allowed the simplification of dental techniques. In this case, application of conventional maxillary full denture and mandibular overdenture made of CAD/CAM milled bar with 4 implants showed satisfactory results in the patient who had used upper and lower full dentures for a long time.
