A Study of Predicting the Severity Following Glufosinate Ammonium Containing Herbicide Poisoning Experienced in Single Emergency Medical Institution (단일 응급의료기관에서 경험한 글루포시네이트 암모니움 포함 제초제 중독 후 중증도 예측에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: Owing to the increased agricultural use of the herbicide glufosinate ammonium (GLA), the incidence of GLA poisoning has recently increased. Therefore, we investigated the possible predictive factors associated with severe complications following GLA poisoning. Methods: A retrospective analysis of medical records was conducted based on 76 patients who had visited our regional emergency medical center with GLA poisoning from 2006 to 2017. Severe complications were defined as respiratory failure requiring intubation, systolic blood pressure less than 90 mmHg, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) less than 8, and presence of seizure. Results: Age, ingested amount and ingested amount per weight were significantly greater in the severe group (p<0.001). PSS grade 2 or higher was more common in the severe group (p<0.001), and In addition, the APACHE II score was significantly higher in the severe group (p<0.001), as were the SOFA scores (p=0.002). Serum ammonia levels were significantly higher in the severe group (p=0.007), while MDRD-GFR was smaller in the severe group (p=0.002). The spot urine protein levels were significantly higher in the severe group (p=0.005), as was the urine protein to creatinine ratio (p=0.001). Upon multivariate analysis, the amount ingested per weight and PSS grade 2 or higher were identified as significant predictors. Conclusion: Our study showed that MDRD-GFR was significantly lower in the severe group after GLA poisoning. PSS grade 2 or higher and ingested amount per weight may be useful to evaluate the severity of complications after GLA poisoning.

Analysis of Graph Types and Characteristics Used in Earth Science Textbooks (지구과학 교과서에 사용된 그래프의 유형 및 특징 분석)

  • Graph is a major aspect of science textbooks. In this study, we investigated graph types and characteristics used in high school earth science subject by comparative analysis of science textbooks. The results of the analysis revealed that line graph and contour map was the most widely used graph types in earth science. Among line graphs, multiple line graph and YX graph was dominant. Comparing earth science graphs with other science graphs, earth science graphs exhibited superior in the number and variety. In earth science graphs, the portion of line graph was small, but the portion of contour map and scatter graph was larger than that of other science graphs. YX graph was the most specific graph type in earth science textbooks. The results of our study have implications for reform in function and structure of graph. We suggest that future studies be focused on students' ability of earth science graph interpretation.

A Cases of Crane Breeding(養鶴) in the Palace of the Joseon Dynasty Period (조선시대 궁궐에서의 양학(養鶴) 사례)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify whether the cranes had been bred in the palace of the Joseon Dynasty period and to consider the related cases. The temporal range of this study is in the Joseon Dynasty period, and the spatial range is throughout the entire palace, including the naejeon(內殿) and oijeon(外殿), and government offices inside(闕內各司) and government offices outside(闕外各司). The reference materials for this study were partly extracted and translated from the original documents to consider, and a Korean version of documents was used in the database of the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the cranes were bred from the early Joseon Dynasty Era in Uijeongbu, the highest government office in the Joseon Dynasty period. After the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, crane breeding in Uijeongbu(議政府) seems to have been suspended due to the damage to the government building and the change in the status of the government office. Second, crane breeding in Hongmungwan(弘文館), which was responsible for the classics colloquium(經筵) and public opinions and assisted the king by the side, continued from the early Joseon Dynasty period(Jungjong's Era) to the late Joseon Dynasty period(Jeongjo's Era) after the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592. Third, in the Jeongjo's Era, the cranes were also bred in Gyujanggak(奎章閣), which was newly established as the central institution of learning to strengthen the royal authority. At that time, it seems that several cranes were bred in Gyujanggak. Fourth, it is judged that 'Crane breeding' in the core government offices of Joseon, such as Uijeongbu, Hongmungwan, and Gyujanggak, was meaningful as a symbol of identities, such as the status and character of the institution. Fifth, it seems that the cranes bred in the palace, including Hongmungwan, were conventionally brought by the Baecheon County of Hwanghae-do. This convention caused minor conflicts between the central and local government offices during the Yeongjo's Era, but it seems to have continued throughout the Jeongjo's Era. In this study, there is a limit that most of the studies were conducted based on local data. If further data discovery and translation outcomes are accumulated in the future, more abundant cases will be identified. The deepened follow-up studies are also needed, other than the cases of rearing cranes in the local government offices and temples.

  • The VAL 208 in Uijeongbu Light Rail system is a light railway vehicle which could be operated in driverless supported by Siemens. It is a Rubber Wheel Type AGT (Automatic Guideway Transit). It will be operated in two car train about 11km of Uijeongbu line. In this paper, the technical overview of the ATC system and the interface between the system and the way side control equipments are presented. It includes the main functions of OBCU(On Board control Unit) and its information sharing method with WCU(Way side control Unit). The testing procedure of OBCU is also discussed.

  • This study is to furnish basic data for establishing the improvement counterplan of Housing environment and to solve the problem of Housing supply resulting from the continuous increase of population and to examine the historical flowing, the present condition and problems of Housing in Uijeongbu city. Including of the multi-house to the number of Housing, the supply ratio of Housing is 95% in quantity of the Housing in Uijeongbu city in 2004. Now, it is important time in the respect of quality as well as the quantity in supply matter of Housing. In fact, the main viewpoint in housing supply policy has been brought focus into the economic profits more than public interests. As a result of that, the residence environment has been worse. From now on, a Local autonomous entity including the construction authorities and Uijeongbu city authorities must focus on the public interests in solving problems of Housing.

A Sanitary Survey on the Simplified Water Supplies by Regional Groups in Uijoungbu (의정부지역 간이상수도의 위생학적 조사)

  • This study was designed to investigate the quality of the simplified water supplies by regional groups in Uijoungbu. For this objective physicochemistric and microbiological experiment were performed. Simplified water in Uijoungbu(Howondong Darakwon, Singokdong Chudong, Songsandong Mangadae, Songsandong Gacbawe, Songsandong Gusungmal, Songsandong Baebul, Ganeung3dong) tested by this study physicochemistric elements suited the test. However, Songsandong Mangadae exceeded the minimum level suggested as $NO_3-N(10mg/{\ell})$. The population of general bacteria were exceeded the minimum level suggested as drinkable water(less than $100CFU/m{\ell}$). Some simplified water in Uijoungbu were proven to be contaminated.

  • 우리나라는 하절기에 강우가 집중되고 있으며, 집중호우에 대한 도시 호우 피해사례가 최근 빈번히 발생하고 있다. 도시지역의 홍수유출량 저감 방안연구의 중요성에 대한 인식과 그 필요성이 절실한 상태이며, 그에 따라 본 연구에서는 대상 유역에 BMP를 적용한 저류지를 설치하여 첨두유량과 첨두시간의 저감 및 지체효과를 분석하고, 그 결과를 효율적으로 활용하고자 한다. 대상의 모형은 SWMM 5.0(Storm Water Management Model 5.0)을 이용하여 모델링 하였으며, 강우자료는 건설교통부 관할 의정부관측소의 1975년에서 2004년까지의 시강우자료를 바탕으로 24시간 Huff분포형을 산정하여 모형에 적용하였다. 대상 유역에 저류지 설치 전과 BMP가 적용된 저류지 설치 후, 그리고 BMP가 적용되지 않은 저류지 설치 후를 상호 비교하여 BMP저류지의 효과를 분석하였다.
