Film Storytelling through Family Films of Korea and America (가족 영화로 본 한국과 미국의 영화 스토리텔링)

  • Formalism narrative theory adopts the dualism of Fabula, story material and Sujet, story substance. The recent theories of storytelling convert the dualism into story and storytelling. This essay delves into the mechanism of contemporary storytelling by comparatively analyzing the storytelling of two films, A Korean film, Family Ties and A Hollywood film, Little Miss Sunshine, which are considered to represent contemporary storytelling. While the latter builds its structure through desire usually shown in the classical Hollywood films, the former has the structure which has nothing to do with causality by displaying fragmented stories. And the latter has typical characters, while the former shows totally different reality, using the obscure characters. In conclusion, Little Miss Sunshine has a storytelling which puts audience feeling in tune by controlling it, and Family Ties has one which delivers director's intention.

Improvement of Spot Weldability of Galvanized Steel Sheet (아연도금강판의 Spot용접성 향상)

  • 아연도금강판은 내식성이 우수하여 자동차용 강판으로 널리 쓰이고 있다. 자동차용 강판은 spot 용접에 의해서 각 부분들이 접합되는데 도금층으로 사용되는 아연은 강판보다 융점이 낮아서 용접작업을 저하시킨다. 현재 사용되는 작업조건에서 용접 타 접수가 평균 2000회를 넘게되면 용접되는 부위의 면적이 감소되어 접합강도가 떨어지게된다. 따라서, 아연이 도금된 강판을 용접하게되면 작업성이 저하되므로 도금층의 성분에 대한 변화를 주므로서 이에 대한 개선을 할 필요가 있다.. Cole, Dickenson 및 Kimchi 등은 도금충내의 알루미늄을 0.1~0.5%(중량비) 함유하는 아연도금강판은 저항용접시 도금충내의 알루미늄 함량에 따라 용접성이 영향을 받는다고 보고하였다. 전극수명은 도금층내의 알루미늄 함량이 증가할수록 떨어지는데 알루미늄이 0.5% 이 하로 함유된 아연도금강판의 경우는 용접타접수가 2000~6000회에 이르르나 알루미늄 이 50%이상 함유된 합금도금강판은 200-600회에 불과한 것으로 나타난다. H.   • This study is concerned with "fiction" as a new form of writing over the limits of the post-modernist theater/arts. Fiction is not something illusory that demands the audience's empathy but something that unveils form's disinterest in content. Thus, in this paper, I examine a fiction as the opposition of any representational norm and words' old mimesis. Rebutting the crisis of post-modern art and the end of images, philosopher Jacque $Ranci{\grave{e}}re$ mentions the possibility of appropriating similarity in an imitative way by twisting Platonic mimesis. The image of this similarity wanders alongside the loss of signification, unmasking the form's indifference to content. These wandering words represent their own truth "in a way fossils or grooved stones encapsulate histories" as hieroglyphics. This "fiction" as an alternative of post-modernist plays is not any confrontation of reality but the "movement of thinking" that allows the human spirit to play in a way of shaping "some substantiality." In this sense, I examines works by two French writers, $Jo{\ddot{e}}l$ Pommerat (1963~) and Jean-Claude Grumberg (1939~ ) who have carried out their writing practices of appropriating similarity that dissolves any simple "immediate reflection" for non-intermediate relations between the producing and the produced. Their writing is a cross of literary creation and "le politique" as a new aesthetic practice of writing and reveals the movement of thinking, departing from the preexisting concept of fiction.

A Analysis on the Characteristics of Landscape Elements and the Reappearance Technique of Landscape Image in the Chinatown of Shanghai Street in Busan (부산 상해거리 상점 전면부 경관요소의 유형적 분석과 중국 전통 경관이미지의 재현 수법에 관한 연구)

  • This study examines the characteristics of landscape elements and the reappearance techniques of traditional landscape image in Chinatown of the Shanghai Street in Busan, Korea. The subjects of the study are commercial buildings owned by Chinese residents, commercial buildings' naming design and environmental sculptures in the Shanghai Street. The results are as follows: First, the design methods of the front side of commercial buildings were classified into two parts: facede design of buildings and signboard design. The design form of the buildings' facades were classified into five types, there are: emphasis type on Chinese characters' signboard, addition type on decorative signboard, introduction type of traditional patterns, imitation type of traditional architectures and modern architectures' modes. The signs of chinese commercial buildings were observed mostly as having a traditional Chinese font in yellow/white on a red background. It has been found that this style was the most popular method of sign design. Secondly, The commercial buildings' naming design was analyzed into design methods and meanings. Design methods were classified into three types: a combination of meaning and place, a combination of season and atmosphere and tourist attractions. The meaning of the commercial buildings' names was divided into three kinds: the wishes of the prosperity, elegant type and the appropriation of local attractions. Thirdly, the environmental sculptures of Shanghai Street were found to have been influenced by both through out Chinese culture with mixed Korean culture. Finally, as for characteristics of landscape elements, we found three reappearance techniques - addition, replacement, juxtaposition. The technique of addition is added new face to the base map by just two methods - extending and overlapping area. Replacement is created new faces from base map by the action of replacing, it has three types - local replacement, package replacement, successive replacement. Juxtaposition is the fact of two or more things placed together with contrasting effect, it also has three types - the same kind juxtaposition, a different kind juxtaposition, topological juxtaposition. This study is the basic research which is analyzing the landscape design in chinatown. But the research only on Shanghai Street may have some limits in scope. It is considered an necessary study to add, which is about chinatown in other city such as Incheon, Jeonju. Then it is expected that the results of this study can be used for the basic data of the landscape plans, that municipalities are actively progressing their respective development projects of Chinatown.

A Study of Retro Design Trend -Focusing on Automobile Style- (레트로 디자인 동향 고찰 -자동차 스타일을 중심으로-)

  • In order to satisfy customers' desire that is becoming more diverse, and to create the unique character of a product in the fast changing social structure and living environment, today's designers have to make efforts to provide new ideas continuously. In the twentieth century, the development of design in various aspects could be possible through an epoch-making progress of technology and industrialization, and thus the meaning and style of design has changed differently according to the current of the times. The retro design, which borrows the designs and styles which were popular in the past and recreates the design of modern meaning and concept, is widely applied now and in the spotlight as a latest design trend. This phenomenon of revival style appears as an image that makes us recollect the past in various fields while being recognized as an another value of new sense. Considered from the history of style changes for the past 100 years, the automobile design, the most representative in product design fields, has gradually changed in its types according to continuous historical, social, and cultural changes and technological progress, while a variety of designs have been continuously presented. The recent current of automobile styles, according to the rapid progress of advanced scientific technology, shows the fast and various changes and the retro style is becoming a new trend arousing people's interests and reintroducing the past designs. The revival trend in automobile designs is expected to stimulate human sensitivity and restore humanity on a different level before the trend, and also expected to be recreated as a new design trend in modern sense, connecting us with the past culture and expanding the realms of future designs.

The Influence of Landscape Painting Concepts on Garden Design Principles in East-Asia - Focused on the Relationship between Chinese Painting Theory and Garden Theory - (동양그림의 경관관이 작정원리에 미친 영향 - 중국화론과 원림론의 관계를 중심으로 -)

  • East-Asian intellectual societies in the pre-modem age sustained a holistic system of poem-calligraphy-painting trinity until the coming of Western modernism. Therefore, it has been insisted that the principles of traditional landscape gardening were greatly influenced by those of landscape painting and related literature. This study examined those influences closely to discover the essence of traditional Asian landscape architecture through a comparative study between Chinese landscape painting theory and landscape gardening theory within the dual categories of 'contents(value and meaning)' and 'form(view and spatial structure)'. The most important theme of landscape painting theory in contents category was 'Chi and its Vitality(氣韻生動)'. The matching theme in landscape design field was 'Feng-Shui(風水)' and 'Yi-Jin'g(意境)'. The most important theme of landscape painting theory in formal category was 'the Three Ru1es of Perspective(三遠法)'. And the matching theme of landscape design theory was 'Yindi(因地)' and 'Jie-Jing(借景)'. The most important theme of landscape painting theory in formal category was 'the Three Rules of Perspective(三遠法)'. And the matching theme of landscape design theory was 'Yindi(因地)' and 'Jie-Jing(借景)'. It was found that themes and various principles of both fields were closely inter-related and have much in common in their representation of contents and form. In the close relationship with main art genres like this, the landscape gardening could have been recognized as one of the genres of fine art.

Meaning and Structure of 'Eonji(言志)' as Educational Poetry (교육을 위한 노래, <도산십이곡> '언지(言志)'의 뜻)

  • This paper aims to shed light on the structure of "Eonji[言志]" to demonstrate that it is a song with educational purposes, which is evident in its meaning and constitution. Based on various records of the epilogue and from the texts handed down several generations, it is clear that is an educational song that describes the life of ascholar and the core of knowledge as considered by Lee-Huang. Therefore, the meaning contained in Eonji[言志] is closely related to Lee-Huang's thoughts and it reflects the Confucian way of life. In the 4thphase, Pimi-ilin[彼美一人] of Eonji[言志] states that self-learning and serving the king can be carried out concurrently. The 5th phase of Eonji[言志] describes the anxiety of the lord for the wiseman and urges people to live a life full of consideration. This shows that one should not disregard the fact that a wise man's scholarship and life can contribute to the politics of the real world, even if the wise one chooses to lead a life of seclusion; even when the wise man enters the word of politics, his behavior and traits must not deviate from the calm course of self-cultivation in nature. The structure of Eonji[言志] and its different phases comprising nature, scholarship, and education deal with the following matters: "the meaning of retirement into nature (1stphase)," "nature+the practice of scholarship (2ndphase)," "scholarship+the practice of education (3rdphase)," "nature+the stance of scholarship (4thphase)," "scholarship+the stance of education (5thphase)," and "the beauty of nature+idea of scholarship and education (6thphase)."

A Study of the New Chinese Words Under the Influence of Culture Content (문화 콘텐츠 영향의 신조 중국어 고찰)

  • This paper is intended to examine and analyze the new Chinese words as the result of culture content. The development of the Korean entertainment industry has created a Korean wave around the world. Through this, many Korean words, Internet vocabulary, and cultural concepts have begun to enter China. Among them, there are many new words that have appeared on the Chinese Internet due to the culture content. As the number of Korean fans and Korean learners increases, new words on the Internet are widely used. The new Chinese words, which are influenced by Korean cultural content, are considered an important part of new Chinese vocabulary. To accurately recognize and understand this, first of all six categories of the new Chinese words were analyzed, which were figurative meaning, substitution, loan of foreign words, abbreviation, compound word, derivation. This formulation also works on the Chinese words with the influence of cultural content. There are three types of the Internet new words form Korean cultural. Which were new words in Chinese characters, new words in alphabets, extended meanings. And had analyzed new words through the acquisition of new meanings. Also took specific news titles and songs according to each category. Through new Chinese words, The influence of cultural content had been confirmed. It is expected that these new Chinese words enrich Chinese vocabulary, also help to facilitate communication. And these new Chinese words are often used in public media or in everyday life. We should recognize the existence of these new Chinese words, and have an accurate perception of them.

  • The convergence paradigm that appears with the integrated media environment has effect on digital storytelling using digital technology, then 'Trans-media storytelling' which is a new form of digital storytelling makes gradual expand its scope. This study focused on the Alternative Reality Game which adopt trans-media storytelling in the game genre. This paper interpreted the idea of ARG on comparing different forms of ARG and existing games and the distinctive features of ARG storytelling which is blurring the line between real and virtual on the Simulation theory. This is a valuable study for understanding the new storytelling form within the media convergence and developing the digital storytelling in the future.

A Study of Demand and Effects on Power System of Electric Vehicles (전기자동차의 전력수요 및 전력계통에의 영향 분석)

  • 우리나라 전기자동차의 잠재 전력수요는 최대부하 측면에서 분석해보면 2008년말 현재 우리나라 자동차 16,794,287대를 전력부하로 환산해보면 1,887,017MW로서 우리나라 발전용량(70,353MW)의 약27배로 나타난다. 다행히도 전기자동차는 비동시 부하이며 최대부하로 충전하지는 않으므로 동시에 그만한 최대전력수요가 필요한 것은 아니다. 그러므로 연간 공급가능한 전기에너지(GWh)를 밸리 필링(Vally Filling;여유 심야전력) 전력량으로 구해보면 약 50,151GWh/년이고, 전기자동차의 에너지 필요용량을 계산해보면 46,587GWh/년이 된다. 이 결과는 전기자동차용 에너지양이 기설 발전설비로 공급가능한 밸리 필링 전력량의 93%로서 전기자동차의 수요를 적당한 시간대로 유도하면 현재의 발전설비 용량으로도 전기자동차에 에너지 공급이 가능하다는 것을 의미한다. 그러나 수도권의 자동차가 45.9%를 차지하고 있어 향후 수도권의 전력공급을 위한 전력 수송의 병목현상인 북상조류의 문제는 심화될 위험이 있다. 하지만 전기자동차의 축전지를 계통에 연계하여 분산전원으로 운영한다면 계통의 피크전력과 예비전력, 주파수 조정 등에 이점을 가져올 수도 있을 것이다.
