  • 음악은 스토리텔링에서 이야기의 분위기와 흐름을 전달하는데 중요한 역할을 한다. 최근 컴퓨터 애니메이션에 자동으로 알맞은 음악을 삽입하기 위하여 많은 연구가 진행되고 있지만 이야기가 있는 애니메이션보다는 주로 영상물의 동기화를 위한 연구가 대부분이었다. 텍스트 애니메이션은 동화를 자동으로 분석하여 애니메이션을 만들어 주는 연구이다. 본 논문에서는 동화의 이야기 구조에 근거하여 각 장면의 분위기에 맞는 음악 자질을 자동으로 추출하는 과정을 보이고 이를 이용하여 텍스트 애니메이션에 음악이 삽입될 수 있는 방법에 대하여 논의한다.

  • 비만의 인구가 증가함에 따라 비만을 치료하는 방법에 대한 관심도 높아지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 운동 시 열량 소비에 더욱 도움을 주는 음악장르를 알아보는데 목적을 두었으며 6가지 장르의 음악을 선정하여 10분간 사이클을 타며 칼로리를 비교분석 하였다. 평균적으로 디스코, 댄스, 힙합음악을 들을 때 더 많은 칼로리를 소모하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 사용자 바이오리듬을 이용하여 감정에 적합한 음악을 자동으로 선곡하여 제공할 수 있는 차량용 내비게이션의 음악제공 방법을 제안한다. 실험결과로부터, 내비게이션에서 음악을 아무조건 없이 제공하는 것보다 바이오리듬의 감성지수를 분석하여 음악을 선곡하여 제공하는 본 연구방법이 운전자의 만족도 (운전 중 조작상의 불편함 해소 및 기분전환)를 높일 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

Mirrors that Illuminate Culture: Koreans' Cultural Orientation Reflected in Pop Music Preferences (문화를 비추는 거울: 대중음악 선호에 반영된 한국인의 문화성향을 중심으로)

  • This study examined whether popular music lyrics, the new research topic, reflect changes in Koreans' cultural orientation and whether individuals' cultural orientation is related to the genre of popular music that they prefer. In Study 1, we content analyzed popular music lyrics from 1980 to 2018 to see if Koreans' cultural orientations changed over time. The analysis showed that as the release dates approached the 2010s, the lyrics expressed the ideal attitudes of individualist cultures more frequently than those of collectivist cultures; this suggests that Koreans have gradually become more individualistic over time. In Study 2, we examined the relationships between individuals' cultural orientations, preferences for various genres of popular music, and functions of music. The analysis showed that people with more collectivistic attitudes tended to prefer mid- and low-arousal music, such as Ballads and Rap/Hiphop, while those with less collectivistic attitudes preferred high-arousal music, such as Rock/Metal. This result is partly consistent with the hypothesis that collectivistic people would prefer lower to higher arousal music. In addition, our analysis showed the strongest positive relationship between collectivism and the social function of music; this result can be interpreted as indicating that collectivistic people use music to maintain good interpersonal relationships. This paper concludes by discussing the implications of these findings, the limitations of this study, and directions for further research.

Analysis of Musical Characteristics and Changes in Different Periods on Yoon-Sang's Music (윤상의 곡에 나타난 음악적 특징과 시대별 변화)

  • This study aims to analyze music of Yoon-sang, as a part of musical research, which is the most fundamental approach among academic studies on Korean popular music. Yoon-Sang is a representative composer, who has gone through the 1980s to the present. The result of analysis of 21 songs created by Yoon-Sang showed that his songs are mostly characterized by tonal music, in which chord relationships develop focusing on keynotes. The reason why his music does not sound uniform pursuing stability is he properly added the progression of chromatic chords, based on diatonic chords and melodies. Dominant 7th chord and diminished 7th chord are used the most among diverse techniques adding chromatic colors. Along with these chords, chromatic intervals are used not only in chord progression but also in melodies. The successive, ascending or descending movement of the base line is his common composition and arrangement technique revealed in every song. One of formal changes with the stream of the times is that the number of measured in the pre-chorus and interlude that were of great importance in his songs of the 1990s decreased over time. With regard to harmonic changes, whereas modulation between parts was applied to his 2 songs created in the 2010s. Yoon-Sang's music had one strong tonality overall, but his music began to have more than two tonalities starting the 2010s, and this is a big variation in his music.

Multiple Regression-Based Music Emotion Classification Technique (다중 회귀 기반의 음악 감성 분류 기법)

  • Many new technologies are studied with the arrival of the 4th industrial revolution. In particular, emotional intelligence is one of the popular issues. Researchers are focused on emotional analysis studies for music services, based on artificial intelligence and pattern recognition. However, they do not consider how we recommend proper music according to the specific emotion of the user. This is the practical issue for music-related IoT applications. Thus, in this paper, we propose an probability-based music emotion classification technique that makes it possible to classify music with high precision based on the range of emotion, when developing music related services. For user emotion recognition, one of the popular emotional model, Russell model, is referenced. For the features of music, the average amplitude, peak-average, the number of wavelength, average wavelength, and beats per minute were extracted. Multiple regressions were derived using regression analysis based on the collected data, and probability-based emotion classification was carried out. In our 2 different experiments, the emotion matching rate shows 70.94% and 86.21% by the proposed technique, and 66.83% and 76.85% by the survey participants. From the experiment, the proposed technique generates improved results for music classification.

Reconsideration of Film Music with Repetitive Rhythm Characteristics - Focusing on the Aesthetic and Functional Meaning of Philip Glass's Film Music - (반복적인 리듬 특성을 지닌 영화음악의 고찰 - 필립 글래스(Philip Glass)의 영화음악에 관한 미학적, 기능적 의미를 중심으로 -)

  • This study studied five major films from the 1980s to the 2000s when Philip Glass's minimal music was used, and studied the aesthetic and functional meaning of the minimal music. Minimal music has a repetitive rhythm and is understood to be aesthetically monotonous, to avoid a particular purpose, or as an expression of moveless. On the one hand, it can mean infinite persistence by repetitive rhythms, or sometimes repetition with subtle changes. The functions of film music were applied as the function of film music common to many theorists. As a result of the analysis of the music in five films, the aesthetic meaning of Philip Glass's minimal music was most relevant to the characteristics of the film story, and the functional meaning of the film music was determined by the structure, form, and genre of the film. Therefore, the theme of the film and the contents of the story played an important role in the aesthetic interpretation of film music with repetitive rhythm characteristics. And the elements of the plot such as the structure, form, and genre of the film are thought to have had a significant effect on the functional interpretation of the film music. The aesthetic value of the film music is closely related to the story of the film, and the functional meaning of the film music is interpreted as determined by the formal elements of the film.

  • People can listen to almost every type of music by music streaming services without possessing music. Ironically it is difficult to choose what to listen to. A music recommendation system helps people in making a choice. However, existing recommendation systems have high computation complexity and do not consider context information. Emotion is one of the most important context information of music. Lyrics can be easily computed with various language processing techniques and can even be used to extract emotion of music from itself. We suggest a music-level similarity evaluation method using emotion and structure. Our result shows that it is important to consider semantic information when we evaluate similarity of music.

  • 본 논문에서는 음악 신호로부터 추출한 비트 정보를 사용하여 가상 캐릭터의 움직임을 제어하는 방법에 대해 논한다. 특히 주기를 가지는 반복적인 동작, 그 중에서도 춤동작에 대한 음악 신호와의 동기화 방법을 제안한다. 서버로 구현된 음악 비트 인식기는 입력 음악 신호에 대한 분석 정보를 규칙적으로 출력한다. 동작 클라이언트는 동작 캡쳐를 통해 얻은 동작 데이터를 여러 개의 기본 동작들로 나누고, 사용자가 선택한 새로운 순서대로 기본 동작들을 연결하여 부드럽게 재생한다. 또한 서버에 접속하여 전송 받은 음악의 템포에 맞게 동작데이터를 와핑(warping)하고 음악의 주요 비트 시각에 맞추어 기본 동작들의 재생시작 시간을 동기화한다. 음원에 의한, 즉 박자, 강약, 비트와 같은 기본적인 정보뿐만 아니라 분위기, 박자 변화와 같은 고급 정보에도 동적으로 반응하여 춤을 추는 가상 캐릭터를 개발하는 것이 본 연구의 궁극적인 목표이다.

  • 국내 디지털 음악 시장은 소비자 이용 패러다임의 변화, 국내 디지털음악 서비스 사업자간의 양극화, 글로벌 사업자의 국내진출 이슈 등의 환경변화로 인해 경쟁력 제고를 위한 미래사업 전략 수립이 필요한 상황이다. 디지털 음악 서비스의 경쟁력 향상을 위해 디지털 음악 서비스 수용요인, 만족, 충성도 간의 인과관계에 대한 연구는 필수적이나 현재까지 제한적인 연구만 수행되어 왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 '디지털 음악 수용 요인' 모델을 기초로 소비자의 '지각된 가치', '고객 만족' 및 '충성도'간의 인과관계를 규명하고자 하였다. 분석결과 '디지털 음악 서비스 요인' 중 '상품의 다양성'과 '시스템 품질'은 '지각된 가치'와 '고객 만족'에 영향을 미쳤으나 '서비스 용이성'은 '고객 만족'에만 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 '지각된 가치'는 '고객 만족'과 '충성도' 모두에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
