Enhanced Light Outcoupling on Photo-luminescent Devices with Microcavity (Microcavity 적용 광자 발광 소자의 광 추출 향상 연구)

  • Recently, microcavity is studied to reduce the optical loss of BLU and OLED. In this paper, we suggest applying microcavity to photo-luminescent lamp with plasma discharge technology to meet the display applications for a BLU for LCD. The structure of photo-luminescent lamp consists of SUS foil and ITO glass with microcavity. The opto-electric characteristics of photo-luminescent lamp with microcavity was evaluated. The brightness of photo-luminescent device was increased over $111cd/m^2$ with the adaptation of patterned microcavity at $30{\mu}m$. The 3D optical simulation verified the enhanced light outcoupling when microcavity applied to the device.

Comparative Spawning Ecology of Daggertooth Pike Conger Muraenesox cinereus and Common Pike Conger M. bagio in the South Sea of Korea (갯장어(Muraenesox cinereus)와 갈창갯장어(M. bagio)의 산란생태 비교)

  • We examined the comparative spawning ecology of daggertooth pike conger Mureanesox cinereus and common pike conger M. bagio in the South Sea of Korea from May 2018 to December 2019. In the South Sea of Korea, the mean total length (TL) of M. cinereus was significantly smaller than that of M. bagio. The sex ratios of both species were skewed toward females. The spawning period of M. cinereus was from June to October, while the spawning period of M. bagio was from August to October. The lengths at 50%, 75%, and 97.5% sexual maturity of M. cinereus females were estimated as 54.6 cm, 60.4 cm, and 74.1 cm TL, respectively. It was not possible to estimate lengths at sexual maturity for M. bagio in the South Sea of Korea due to the absence of immature stages.

The Effects of Punsimgi-eum(fenxinqi-yin) in the Chronic Mild Stress Model of Depression in Rats (분심기음의 우울증 모델 흰쥐에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of Punsimgi-eum(fenxingi-yin) in rat model of depression induced by chronic mild stress (CMS). Methods : The change of the consumption of sucrose solution was measured, and the open field test and passive avoidance conditioning test were performed to investigate the anti-depressive effect of Punsimgi-eum(fenxingi-yin). Results : The results were as follows; I. The consumption of sucrose solution was significantly reversed in the test group at 5, 7 and 8 weeks, but there was no significant change in the control group. 2. There was no significant change of body weight after 8 weeks in each group 3. In the open field test, there was significant increase of exploratory activity in the test group. 4. In the passive avoidance test, the test group showed differences in the maintenance of retention from the control group at the 2-week training-testing interval. Conclusions : The present results suggest that Punsimgi-eum(fenxingi-yin) has an anti-depressive effect.

TFT-LCD Defect Detection based on Histogram Distribution Modeling (히스토그램 분포 모델링 기반 TFT-LCD 결함 검출)

  • TFT-LCD automatic defect inspection system for detecting defects in place of the visual tester does pre-processing, candidate defect pixel detection, and recognition and classification through a blob analysis. An over-detection result of defects acts as an undue burden of blob analysis for recognition and classification. In this paper, we propose defect detection method based on the histogram distribution modeling of TFT-LCD image to minimize over-detection of candidate defective pixels. Primary defect candidate pixels are detected estimating the skewness of the luminance distribution histogram of the background pixels. Based on the detected defect pixels, the defective pixels other than noise pixels are detected using the distribution histogram model of the local area. Experimental results confirm that the proposed method shows an excellent defect detection result on the image containing the various types of defects and the reduction of the degree of over-detection as well.

Effects of Selected Oligosaccharides on Fecal Microflora and Lipid Constitution in Rats (다양한 종류의 올리고당이 흰쥐의 분변내 균총과 지질 성상에 미치는 영향)

  • Certain indigestible oligosaccharides may benefit gastrointestinal tract via fermentation and proliferation of desirable bacterial species. The purose of this study was to elucidate the effect of selected oligosaccharides, such as fructooligosaccharides(FOS), soybean oliosaccharides(SOE), and highly concentrated branched oligosaccharides(HiBOS), on fecal micorflora proliferation, lipid concentration, lipid peroxide formation and antioxidant enzymes acitivies in plasma and liver of the rats. Thirty two male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to one of four treatments ; 1) control diet(AIN-93G diet); 2) control diet +5% FOS ; 3) control diet + 5% SOE ; 4) control diet + 5% HiBOS. The duration of the study was 4 weeks. Fecal bifidobacteria concentration were significantly higher (p<0.05) in the HiBOS group compared with the control after 4 weeks of dietary treatment. FOS and SOE groups also had higher fecal bifidobacteria levels than control, but statistical significance was not found. The concentration of plasma total lipid was decreased by oligosaccharide consumption, especially in HiBOS group(p<0.05). The concentration of plasma total triglyceride was significantly lower in all of the oligosaccharide containing groups compared with the control(p<0.05). The plasma total cholesterol concentration tended to be lower in the oligosaccharide consuming groups than control. The concentrations of hepatic total lipid, triglyceride and total cholesterol were not affected by consumption of oligosaccharides. Thiobarbituric acid reactive substance(TBARS) concentrations and antioxidant enzyme activities in plasma and liver were not affected much by experimental diets. There results suggest that dietary oligosaccharides may be beneficial for increasing intestinal bifidobacteria and lowering plasma lipid levels.

Variability of Vertical Distribution of Volume Scattering Observed in the Shallow Water (천해 체적 산란강도의 수직분포 변동성)

  • Measurements of backscattered intensity were made over a shallow water using 300 ㎑and 1200 ㎑ bottom mounted ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) to determine the temporal variability of vertical distribution of high-frequency volume scattering strength (Sv). The variability of Sv in relatively deep water column(85 m and 113 m was due to the daily vertical migration, probably of larger zooplankton. However it was not found with 1200㎑ data at shallow water column. From the empirical orthogonal function (EOF) analysis using 1200㎑ data, the vertical distribution of the first mode eigenvectors of Sv is characterized by the presence of the maximum values near the bottom of the water.

Proposal of Checklists for Patient Safety in Miniscalpel Acupuncture Treatment of Cervical and Lumbar Spine: Pilot Trial (환자 안전을 위한 경추 및 요추부 도침시술 전후 체크리스트 제안: 예비연구)

  • Objectives The authors propose a new checklist model adapted for safety miniscalpel acupuncture procedure of cervical and lumbar spine. Methods On the basis of available literature and expert opinion, a prototype checklist was developed. The checklist was adapted on the basis of observation of daily practice. Results The checklist has three parts: 1. prevention and management of healthcare associated infections, 2. verification list before and after miniscalpel acupuncture treatment, 3. adverse event monitoring after procedure. We presented a summary checklist based on the above contents. Conclusions We propose the first patient safety checklist for minicalpel acupuncture treatment of cervical and lumbar spine. The checklist will be complemented using further research methodologies.

촉매를 이용하지 않은 GaAs 나노막대 성장

  • 최근 반도체 나노막대의 구조적, 광학적 특성을 이용한 새로운 개념의 광학 및 전자 소자 개발을 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 기존의 반도체 나노막대는 gold를 촉매로 하여 성장한 것이 대부분이었지만, gold 촉매는 다른 물질에 빠르게 확산되기 때문에 반도체 특성에 좋지 않은 영향을 미친다. 이러한 이유로 aluminum이나 titanium과 같은 물질을 gold 촉매 대신 사용하거나 촉매를 사용하지 않는 성장 방법에 관한 이슈들이 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 금속 촉매 물질을 사용하지 않고 반도체 나노막대 성장을 시도하였다. 금속 촉매 없이 반도체 나노막대를 성장하는 것은 반도체 특성에 악영향을 미치지 않을 뿐더러, 공정 과정이 용이하다는 장점 때문에 최근 많이 시도되고 있다. 본 실험에서는 Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) 방법을 이용하여 (100) GaAs 기판 위에 GaAs 나노막대를 성장하였다. 금속 촉매 없이 반도체 나노막대를 성장하기 위해 에칭된 $SiO_2$ 층을 이용하였다. GaAs 기판 위에 형성된 35nm 두께의 $SiO_2$를 20:1 BOE 용액에서 10초 간 에칭하면 $SiO_2$상에 pinhole을 형성하는데 이것이 gallium과 반응하면 나노막대 성장을 유도하는 seed가 만들어져 촉매를 사용하지 않고도 나노막대 성장이 가능하다. GaAs 나노막대 성장을 위해 BOE 에칭 조건, gallium incubation time 유무, GaAs 나노막대 성장온도, galiium과 arsenic의 성분 비율, GaAs 양 등을 변화시켜 실험하였고 이렇게 성장된 나노막대가 SEM image 상에서 관찰되었다.
