A Study on Recognition of Car License Plate using Dynamical Thresholding Method and Kohonen Algorithm (동적인 임계화 방법과 코호넨 알고리즘을 이용한 차량 번호판 인식에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we proposed the car license plate extraction and recognition algorithm using both the dynamical thresholding method and the kohonen algorithm. In general, the areas of car license plate in the car images have distinguishing characteristics, such as the differences in intensity between the areas of characters and the background of the plates, the fixed ratio of width to height of the plates, and the higher dynamical thresholded density rate 7han the other areas, etc. Taking advantage of the characteristics, the thresholded images were created from the original images, and also the density rates were computed. A candidate area was selected, whose density rate was corresponding to the properties of the car license plate obtained from the car license plate. The contour tracking method by utilizing the Kohonen algorithm was applied to extract the specific area which included characters and numbers from an extracted plate area. The characters and numbers of the license place were recognized by using Kohonen algorithm. Kohonen algorithm was very effective o? suppressing noises scattered around the contour. In this study, 80 car images were tested. The result indicate that we proposed is superior in performance.

Container Identifier Recognition Using Morphological Features and FCM-Based Fuzzy RBF Network (형태학적 특성과 FCM 기반 퍼지 RBF 네트워크를 이용한 컨테이너 식별자 인식)

  • In this paper, we proposed a container identifier recognition method for containers used in harbors. After converting a real container image to a gray image, edges are detected from the gray image applying Prewitt mask and candidate identifier area is extracted using morphological features of individual identifier for identifying containers. Because noises are included in the extracted candidate identifier area, noises are eliminated and each identifier is separated using 4-directional edge tracking algorithm and Grassfire algorithm. Each identifier in the noise-free candidate identifier area is recognized using FCM-based row RBF network for discriminating containers. We used 300 real container images for experiment to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, and we could verify the proposed method is better than a conventional method.

  • In this paper, we proposed the novel hierarchical algorithm for the recognition of English calling cards that processes multiresolution images of calling cards hierarchically to extract individual characters and recognizes the extracted characters by using the enhanced neural network method. The hierarchical recognition algorithm generates multiresolution images of calling cards, and each processing step in the algorithm selects and processes the image with suitable resolution for lower processing overhead and improved output. That is, first, the image of 1/3 times resolution, to which the horizontal smearing method is applied, is used to extract the areas including only characters from the calling card image, and next, by applying the vertical smearing and the contour tracking masking, the image of a half time resolution is used to extract individual characters from the character string areas. Lastly, the original image is used in the recognition step, because the image includes the morphological information of characters accurately. And for the recognition of characters with diverse font types and various sizes, the enhanced RBF network that improves the middle layer based on the ART1 was proposed and applied. The results of experiments on a large number of calling card images showed that the proposed algorithm is greatly improved in the performance of character extraction and recognition compared with the traditional recognition algorithms.

Passports Recognition using ART2 Algorithm and Face Verification (ART2 알고리즘과 얼굴 인증을 이용한 여권 인식)

  • 본 논문에서는 출입국자 관리의 효율성과 체계적인 출입국 관리를 위하여 여권 코드를 자동으로 인식하고 위조 여권을 판별할 수 있는 여권 인식 및 얼굴 인증 방법을 제안한다. 여권 이미지는 기울어진 상태로 스캔되어 획득되어질 수도 있으므로 기울기 보정은 문자 분할 및 인식, 얼굴 인증에 있어 매우 중요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 여권 영상을 스미어링한 후, 추출된 문자열 중에서 가장 긴 문자열을 선택하고 이 문자열의 좌측과 우측 부분의 두께 중심을 연결하는 직선과 수평선과의 기울기를 이용하여 여권 여상에 대한 각도 보정을 수행한다. 여권 코드 추출은 소벨 연산자와 수평 스미어링, 8방향 윤곽선 추적 알고리즘을 적용하여 여권 코드의 문자열 영역을 추출하고, 추출된 여권 코드 문자열 영역에 대해 반복 이지화 방법을 적용하여 코드의 문자열 영역을 이진화한다. 이진화된 문자열 영역에 대해 CDM 마스크를 적용하여 문자열의 코드들을 복원하고 8방향 윤곽선 추적 알고리즘을 적용하여 개별 코드를 추출한다. 추출된 개별 코드는 ART2 알고리즘을 적용하여 인식한다. 얼굴 인증을 위해 템플릿 매칭 알고리즘을 이용하여 얼굴 템플릿 데이터베이스를 구축하고 여권에서 추출된 얼굴 영역과의 유사도 측정을 통하여 여권 얼굴 영역의 위조 여부를 판별한다. 얼굴 인증을 위해서 Hue, YIQ-I, YCbCr-Cb 특징들의 유사도를 종합적으로 분석하여 얼굴 인증에 적용한다. 제안된 여권 인식 및 얼굴 인증 방법의 성능을 평가를 위하여 원본 여권에 얼굴 부분을 위조한 여권과 노이즈, 대비 증가 및 감소, 밝기 증가 및 감소 및 여권 영상을 흐리게 하여 실험한 결과, 제안된 방법이 여권 코드 인식 및 얼굴 인증에 있어서 우수한 성능이 있음을 확인하였다.권 영상에서 획득되어진 얼굴 영상의 특징벡터와 데이터베이스에 있는 얼굴 영상의 특징벡터와의 거리 값을 계산하여 사진 위조 여부를 판별한다. 제안된 여권 인식 및 얼굴 인증 방법의 성능을 평가를 위하여 원본 여권에서 얼굴 부분을 위조한 여권과 기울어진 여권 영상을 대상으로 실험한 결과, 제안된 방법이 여권의 코드 인식 및 얼굴 인증에 있어서 우수한 성능이 있음을 확인하였다.진행하고 있다.태도와 유아의 창의성간에는 상관이 없는 것으로 나타났고, 일반 유아의 아버지 양육태도와 유아의 창의성간의 상관에서는 아버지 양육태도의 성취-비성취 요인에서와 창의성제목의 추상성요인에서 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 창의성이 높은 아동의 아버지의 양육태도는 일반 유아의 아버지와 보다 더 애정적이며 자율성이 높지만 창의성이 높은 아동의 집단내에서 창의성에 특별한 영향을 더 미치는 아버지의 양육방식은 발견되지 않았다. 반면 일반 유아의 경우 아버지의 성취지향성이 낮을 때 자녀의 창의성을 향상시킬 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이상에서 자녀의 창의성을 향상시키는 중요한 양육차원은 애정성이나 비성취지향성으로 나타나고 있어 정서적인 측면의 지원인 것으로 밝혀졌다.징에서 나타나는 AD-SR맥락의 반성적 탐구가 자주 나타났다. 반성적 탐구 척도 두 그룹을 비교 했을 때 CON 상호작용의 특징이 낮게 나타나는 N그룹이 양적으로 그리고 내용적으로 더 의미 있는 반성적 탐구를 했다용을 지원하는 홈페이지를 만들어 자료 제공 사이트에 대한 메타 자료를 데이터베이스화했으며 이를 통해 학생들이 원하는 실시간 자료를 검색하여 찾을 수 있고 홈페이지를 방분했을 때 이해하기 어려운 그래프나 각 홈페이지가 제공하는 자료들에 대한 처리 방법을 도움말로 제공받을 수 있게 했다. 실

  • The intima media thickness(IMT) of the carotid artery from B mode ultrasound images has recently been proposed as the most useful index of individual atherosclerosis and can be used to predict major cardiovascular events. Ultrasonic measurements of the IMT are conventionally obtained by manually tracing interfaces between tissue layers. The drawbacks of this method are the inter and intra observer variability and its inefficiency. In this paper, we present a multiresolution snake method combined with the dynamic programming, which overcomes the various noises and sensitivity to initialization of conventional snake. First, an image pyramid is constructed using the Gaussian pyramid that maintains global edge information with smoothing in the images, and then the boundaries are automatically detected in the lowest resolution level by minimizing a cost function based on dynamic programming. The cost function includes cost terms which are representing image features and geometrical continuity of the vessel interfaces. Since the detected boundaries are selected as initial contour of the snake for the next level, this automated approach solves the problem of the initialization. Moreover, the proposed snake improves the problem of converging th the local minima by defining the external energy based on multiple image features. In this paper, our method has been validated by computing the correlation between manual and automatic measurements. This automated detection method has obtained more accurate and reproducible results than conventional edge detection by considering multiple image features.

Optimization of Image Tracking Algorithm Used in 4D Radiation Therapy (4차원 방사선 치료시 영상 추적기술의 최적화)

  • In order to develop a Patient respiratory management system includinga biofeedback function for4-dimentional radiation therapy, this study investigated anoptimal tracking algorithmfor moving target using IR (Infra-red) camera as well as commercial camera. A tracking system was developed by LabVIEW 2010. Motion phantom images were acquired using a camera (IR or commercial). After image process were conducted to convert acquired image to binary image by applying a threshold values, several edge enhance methods such as Sobel, Prewitt, Differentiation, Sigma, Gradient, Roberts, were applied. The targetpattern was defined in the images, and acquired image from a moving targetwas tracked by matching pre-defined tracking pattern. During the matching of imagee, thecoordinateof tracking point was recorded. In order to assess the performance of tracking algorithm, the value of score which represents theaccuracy of pattern matching was defined. To compare the algorithm objectively, we repeat experiments 3 times for 5 minuts for each algorithm. Average valueand standard deviations (SD) of score were automatically calculatedsaved as ASCII format. Score of threshold only was 706, and standard deviation was 84. The value of average and SD for other algorithms which combined edge detection method and thresholdwere 794, 64 in Sobel, 770, 101 in Differentiation, 754, 85 in Gradient, 763, 75 in Prewitt, 777, 93 in Roberts, and 822, 62 in Sigma, respectively. According to score analysis, the most efficient tracking algorithm is the Sigma method. Therefore, 4-dimentional radiation threapy is expected tobemore efficient if threshold and Sigma edge detection method are used together in target tracking.

Fast information extraction algorithm for object-based MPEG-4 application from MPEG-2 bit-streamaper (MPEG-2 비트열로부터 객체 기반 MPEG-4 응용을 위한 고속 정보 추출 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, a fast information extraction algorithm for object-based MPEG-4 application from MPEG-2 bit-steam is proposed. For object-based MPEG-4 conversion, we need to extract such information as object-image, shape-image, macro-block motion vector, and header information from MPEG-2 bit-stream. If we use the extracted information, fast conversion for object-based MPEG-4 is possible. The proposed object extraction algorithm has two important steps, namely the motion vectors extraction from MPEG-2 bit-stream and the watershed algorithm. The algorithm extracts objects using user\`s assistance in the intra frame and tracks then in the following inter frames. If we have an unsatisfactory result for a fast moving object, the user can intervene to correct the segmentation. The proposed algorithm consist of two steps, which are intra frame object extracts processing and inter frame tracking processing. Object extracting process is the step in which user extracts a semantic object directly by using the block classification and watersheds. Object tacking process is the step of the following the object in the subsequent frames. It is based on the boundary fitting method using motion vector, object-mask, and modified watersheds. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve a fast conversion from the MPEG-2 bit-stream to the object-based MPEG-4 input.

  • It is very important part of pre-processing for get better results by image processing that get emphasized image by processing of source image. Emphasized image is not only good looking image but clear and sharp image. Emphasized images are used very useful data at contour extraction and image recognition in image processing. It have different image recognition by how much represent a origin scene in row quality image. Present algorithms that get emphasized premier image do not get clear picture of degree that want in various kind of images and there is shortcoming that need much process times being proportional size of picture quality or accumulation degree of histogram. In this paper, we propose method to change distribution chart that pixels occupy in histogram as subsequentness in reflex of various kinds as well as that picture quality reflex method to emphasize so that is suitable in practical use purpose originally of premier. Proposed algorithm re-allot histogram distribution by reverse tracking histogram. Experimental images are same result and take less processing time than histogram equalization.

  • The two dimensional echocardiography is widely used to evaluate regional wall motion abnormality, because of its abilities to depict left ventricular wall motion. A number of researches have been processed for evaluation and quantitative analysis of left ventricular wall motion functions. In this paper, we proposed an algorithm which detects automatically and analyze quantitatively endocardial wall motion during systole. The echocardiograms were obtained in the short-axis views in normal subjects. Automated edge detection and endocardial contour tracking algorithm was applied to each frames, quantitative analysis based on segmentation was performed, pre-defined color overlays superimposed on the gray scale images, and the images was animated. The proposed algorithm provided automated, quantitative diagnosis of regional wall motion abnormality.
