  • Since the years of oil tanker production in the 70's, the concern of marine enviromental protection is worldwidely increased, at last it is compulsorily ruled to product the double hull tanker by International Maritime Organization(IMO). Throughout these informative years Daewoo Shipyard has developed the double hull VLCC for a future vessel. The paper presents hull design for 300K double hull VLCC which was carried out to satisfy with statutory requirement of it, focused the structural arrangement and direct calculation in cargo hold area.

  • 유조선이 화물유 탱크 내 유류를 적재한 채 국내 연안 해저면에 침몰하는 경우 화물유 탱크 내 적재유가 유출되어 대형 오염사고로 연결될 가능성이 있으므로 화물유 탱크 내 적재유는 신속하고 안전하게 제거 되어야만 한다. 심해 수중작업 특성상 이러한 잔존유 회수작업 완료 후 화물유 탱크 내 잔존유 제거상태의 직접적 확인은 매우 곤란하므로 회수작업 종료 기준 및 절차는 매우 중요하다. 이에 따라, 국내에서 실제 이루어 진 제1유일호 및 제3오성호, 경신호 잔존유 작업사례에 적용된 회수방법에 따른 종료절차를 비교분석하여, 향후 국내 연안에 침몰되는 유조선 잔존유 회수작업에 적용 가능한 합리적 표준 작업종료 절차를 제시하였다.

A Study on the Early Warning Model of Crude Oil Shipping Market Using Signal Approach (신호접근법에 의한 유조선 해운시장 위기 예측 연구)

  • The manufacturing industry is the backbone of the Korean economy. Among them, the petrochemical industry is a strategic growth industry, which makes a profit through reexports based on eminent technology in South Korea which imports all of its crude oil. South Korea imports whole amount of crude oil, which is the raw material for many manufacturing industries, by sea transportation. Therefore, it must respond swiftly to a highly volatile tanker freight market. This study aimed to make an early warning model of crude oil shipping market using a signal approach. The crisis of crude oil shipping market is defined by BDTI. The overall leading index is made of 38 factors from macro economy, financial data, and shipping market data. Only leading correlation factors were chosen to be used for the overall leading index. The overall leading index had the highest correlation coefficient factor of 0.499 two months ago. It showed a significant correlation coefficient five months ago. The QPS value was 0.13, which was found to have high accuracy for crisis prediction. Furthermore, unlike other previous time series forecasting model studies, this study quantitatively approached the time lag between economic crisis and the crisis of the tanker ship market, providing workers and policy makers in the shipping industry with an framework for strategies that could effectively deal with the crisis.

Current Status and Rate of Change of National Ships by each Ship : Focusing on Passenger ships, Cargo ships, Oil Tankers, Towing and Barges (국적선의 각 선박별 현황과 변동률 : 여객선, 화물선, 유조선, 예선, 부선을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to classify national ships into passenger ships, cargo ships, oil tankers, tugboats, barges, and other ships by use, and compare the rate of change and direction respectively. In this study, a total of 123 monthly data were searched from January 2011 to March 2021 in Statistics Korea's KOSIS "Traffic Logistics => Operating Vessel Statistics => Possesion State of National Vessels". To this end, we calculated the rate of change from the previous month for each ship and performed numerical analysis and model analysis. In the correlation analysis, the Total showed a high relationship in the order of Towing, Barge, Oil, Cargo and Ferry. In the regression analysis, each ship was found to be statistically significant and varied independently of each other. The increase rate was highest in the order of Ferry, Oil, Towing, Barge and Cargo during the last analysis period. In the analysis of Scatter Charts, Towing and Barge showed more than a certain level of synchronization with respect to the Total. The synchronization phenomenon for each ships was calculated to be rather low, indicating that the correlation between each ships was low. However, the correlation between Oil and Towing, Oil and Barge and Towing and Barge is relatively high, indicating a relatively large correlation.

Transverseless AFRAMAX급 이중선체 유조선 구조부재의 안전성평가

  • 본 연구에서는 힁부재가 없는 AFRAMAX급 신구조 방식의 유조선을 개발하고자 하였다. 설계의 기본 개념은 1) 이중선체구조를 채용하여 해난사고 발생시 기름유출 방지를 피하고, 2) 힁부재가 없는 극히 단순한 선체구조를 채용하여 용접 로봇등을 활용한 자동건조 비율을 높임으로써 건조 생산성을 향상시키는데 주안점을 두고 있다. 설계 결과 얻어진 선체구조는 기존의 유조선 구 조와 매우 상이하다. 초기구조설계단계에서 구조 부재의 치수는 기존의 선급설계 지침을 활용 하여 결정하였으나, 기존의 유조선 구조와 비교하여 구조배치가 크게 바뀌어 졌기 때문에 기존의 선급설계지침을 만족했다고 해서 구성부재와 국부구조뿐만 아니라 구조 전체적으로도 충분한 구조안전성을 가지고 있는지는 확실치 않다. 따라서 직접구조해석에 의한 구조안전성 평가가 필수적으로 요구되며, 이를 위해 저자들은 선체구조의 최종 종강도(ultimate longitudinal strength), 최종 힁강도(ultimate transverse strength) 및 최종 국부강도(ultimate local strength )를 기준으로한 구조안전성 평가를 수행하였다. 본 논문에서는 이들 중에서 국부 구조부재에 대한 안전성평가 문제만을 다루었다. 결론적으로, 본 연구에서 개발한 선체구조는 건전상태(intact condition)하에서 뿐만 아니라 손상상태하에서도 구조부재는 좌굴 또는 붕괴하지 않고 전반적 으로 충분한 구조안전성을 가지고 있다는 결론을 내릴 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, two series of numerical simulations are performed using LS/DYNA3D: The first series of numerical simulations are collision events between a 310,000 DWT double hull VLCC (struck ship) and two 35,000 and 105,000 DWT tankers (striking ships). Collisions are assumed to occur at the middle of the VLCC with the striking ships moving at right angle to the YLCC centerline. The second ones, grounding accidents of two 40,000 DWT Conventional and Advanced Double Hull lanker bottom structures, CONV/PD328 and ADH/PD328 models. The overall objective of this study is to understand the structural failure and energy absorbing mechanisms during collision and grounding events for double hull tanker side and bottom structures, which lead to the initiation of inner shell rupture and cause the kinetic energy dissipation to bring the ship to a stop. These numerical simulations will contribute to the estimation of damage extents of collision and grounding accidents and the future improvements in lanker safety at the design stage.
