The effects of multimedia fairytale activities on infants' prosocial actions (멀티미디어 동화 활동이 유아의 친사회적 행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate effective teaching media for infants' teaching-learning process by comparing the effects of multimedia fairytale activities and picture fairytale listening activities on infants' prosocial actions. Following the purpose of this study, we studied any effect to infants' prosocial actions from multimedia fairytale activities by dividing in two groups. This study was conducted with 5-year-old infants (total 40; 20 experimental group & 20 comparison group) in D daycare center in Daejeon. Verifying data tool were time series corresponding t-test, independent t-test and multi-variant analyses. As a result, multimedia fairytale listening activities are more effective for infants' prosocial actions. It has meaningful difference in the interpersonal relationship skills and early childhood education adapt which is sub-area of infant's prosocial actions. So, for various and high-quality early childhood education, using multimedia teaching media is more effective than existing teaching media.

A Comparative Analysis on the Development and Maladaptive Behavior at Daycare Centers by Children of Multicultural and Non-multicultural Family Background (다문화 아동과 일반 아동의 발달 및 어린이집 부적응행동 비교 분석)

  • In this study, WSS developmental checklist and nursery maladaptive test were conducted and applied to 203 multicultural children and non-multicultural children. The children were 3-5years old and were attending 34 kindergartens located in Gimpo-si and Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do to investigate the developmental level and status of adaptation to the nursery in multicultural children. The result shows that there is no difference in the development of scientific thinking and mathematical thinking while developmental level is lower in personality, sociality, language, reading and writing area in multicultural children compared to non-multicultural children. According to age, there is no difference in the development between 4~5-year-old multicultural children and non-multicultural children while there is a difference in the development between 3-year-old multicultural and non-multicultural children. It also shows that there are no significant differences in nursery adaptation between multicultural children and non-multicultural children.

A Case Study on Mother's Perceived the Adaptation Process and Program of One-year-old Toddlers in Daycare Center (어머니가 인식하는 만 1세 영아의 어린이집 초기 적응과정 및 적응프로그램에 관한 사례연구)

  • Objective: This study is a case study on mother's perceived the adaptation process and program of a one-year-old toddlers in daycare center. Methods: This study is a case study of four mothers who live in Seoul, South Korea and whose first child enters in daycare center at 18 or 20 months. The data collection method was applied to group interview and the individual in-depth interview method. Results: After the interview data was analyzed, first, they decided to enroll their child to a daycare center after two mothers were pregnant with the second child or the others received a phone call for admission. The first impression of the teachers had a great influence on the choice of admission when mother first visited the daycare center. mother, as well as toddlers who exhibited anxiety, experienced an adaptation process. Through communication between mother and teacher, mothers could feel the toddler's adaptation. Second, as for the difference of the adaptation program according to the daycare center type through the adaptation process of the one-year-old toddlers, there was a big difference in the program guide, the period, the content and the proceeding method. Conclusion/Implications: Based on the results of this study, it is expected that it will be a basic data for the development of the adaptation program for one-year-old toddlers in daycare center at the national level.

The Effect of Early Educator's Psychological Exhaustion and Happiness on Children's Adapting Ability in Early Education Settings (유아교사의 심리적 소진과 행복감이 유아의 교육기관 적응능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of early educator's psychological exhaustion and happiness on adapting ability of children in early education settings. Two hundred ten early educators and six hundred thirty children were selected as subjects of this study and were requested to participate in a survey. The results of this study were as follows: First, as a result of analyzing the relationship between early educator's psychological exhaustion and happiness as well as children's adaptability on education facility, higher psychological exhaustion and lower happiness were related to lower children's adaptability on education facility. Second, as a result of comparing comparative impact that psychological exhaustion and happiness has on children's adaptability on education facility, psychological exhaustion of the teacher impacts negatively on children's adaptability on education facility and happiness of the teacher did not significantly impact children's adaptability on education facility. This research is expected to be used as foundational data that helps to recognize the importance of psychological exhaustion and happiness of the teacher and could be used to develop various programs that support teachers to recover from burnout and to increase happiness.
