This research is aimed to prove if harmful effects of smoking, as the main reason for recently elevated blood vessel disease, could be reduced by aerobic exercise, and identify the positive effects of the aerobic exercise on smokers' blood vessel health(blood pressure, pulse pressure, and blood vessel elasticity. Experiments were performed on 40 male smokers aged between 40 and 55, which was equally divided into two groups of Aerobic Exercise Group (AEG) and Non Exercise Group (NEG). After measuring each group's blood pressure, pulse pressure, and blood vessel elasticity, AEG practiced aerobic exercise program for 50 minutes for each trial, three times a week, sustaining 12 weeks while NEG continued daily-life patterns without any special treatment. In 12 weeks, blood pressure, pulse pressure, and blood vessel elasticity of both groups were measured as the same way. As a result, the difference of systolic blood pressure between the two groups was not significant, while that of diastolic blood pressure was meaningful. The difference of pulse pressure between the two groups was meaningful, and that of blood vessel elasticity was also meaningful in all measuring points including left hand, right hand, left foot and right foot. As a consequent, it was found that aerobic exercise had positive effects on middle aged male smokers' blood vessel health.
The objective of this study was to investigate the clinical aspects on bovine abortion and stillbirth in Korea. Three hundred thirty eight bovine fetuses were collected from farms and submitted to the College of Veterinary Medicine, Seoul National University. Submitted fetuses were evaluated for season, parity and gestation stage on abortion during a 3 years period (June, 1999 to April, 2002). Out of four seasons, incidence of bovine abortion was significantly higher in summer than other seasons (P<0.05) due to high temperature and humidity. After surveying of incidence of abortion according to parity, it was concentrated in low parity (1, 2 and 3 parity). However, this result was not caused by parity but because most of surveyed cow was low parity. For surveying the distribution of abortion incidence according to days of gestation, we divided the days of gestation into 3 stages including with early (0∼150 days), middle (151∼250 days) and late (251days∼term). Out of 319 aborted fetuses, incidences of abortion were significantly higher in the middle and late stage than early stage (P<0.05). A high rate (75%) of stock farms did not vaccinate animals, therefore most of cows in Korea were found to have a high risk of becoming infected upon exposure to pathogens. Many of abortions occurred in stock farms where animals of other species were being bred. More studies will be needed to investigate possible linkages between bovine abortion and the breeding of other animal species.
Recent interest in geological heritage has been increased in that it can be used as a basic data onto predicting the global environmental change of its containing information about past global environment. In addition, due to the characteristics of the geological heritage, it is easy to damage and difficult to recover without continuous preservation and management. However, there are more damages occurring because of the sporadic spatial distribution and ambiguous management authority of geological heritage. Therefore, an integrated management system is needed by determining the spatial distribution of geological heritage preferentially. In this study, the detailed criteria for assessment of value from the preliminary studies were applied and the geological heritage grade distribution map was generated by using geospatial data in Seoul metropolitan area. For this purpose, the list of geological heritage sites in the Seoul metropolitan area, which is the study area, were complied through a literature review. The geospatial database was designed and constructed by applying the detailed criteria for assessment of value from the preliminary studies. After the construction of the spatial database, a grade map of the geological heritage was created. As a result of the geological heritage grade map in the Seoul metropolitan area, there were more than 35% of the geological heritage in northern Gyeonggi provinces such as Yeoncheon city (18.8%), Pocheon city (10.6%) and Paju city (6.3%). It is followed by 18.1% in Incheon and 8.1% in Ansan, which is approximately 26.2% in western Gyeonggi Province. The geological age of the geological heritage was the highest at in the fourth stage of the Cenozoic era of 16.9%. Through the results of this study, the geological heritage data of the Seoul metropolitan area were extracted from existing literature data and converted into spatial information. It enables comparing the geological features with the spatial distribution of geological heritage. In addition, a management system has been established based on spatial information of constantly building geological heritage data. This provides the integrated management system of the geological heritage to manage authority so that it can be used as a basis for the development of the geological park. Based on the results of this study, it is considered to be possible to systematically construct and utilize the geological heritage across the country.

The purpose of this study is to clarify motives, itinerary and general patterns associated with the traveling of the upper class in the Chosun Dynasty based on twenty travel accounts of Mt. Chungryang. In addition, previous studies were referred to in order to compare these trips to Mt. Chungryang with those which were undertaken to Mt. Kumgang so as to identify the unique characteristics of those involved with the trips to Mt. Chungryang and of these trips in themselves. Through this process, unique characteristics, such as the travelers' academic backgrounds and place of origin, as well as how these travelers' relationship with their teachers influenced the motivation for these trips were uncovered, as were the processes through which travel schedules and companions were selected. Moreover, the researcher identified similarities and differences between the travel of Mt. Chungryang and Mt. Kumgang in terms of the travelers' motivation for the trip, the transportation methods they employed, and the kind of accommodation they sought. Moreover while similarities were also uncovered with regards to the travel practices of the literati class during this time, differences emerged in terms of their travel dates and schedules.
This study analyzed people's travels to Mt. Jiri in the Joseon Dynasty; and more specifically, the purpose of such travels and the methods used to do so. Using previous studies dealing with travels to Mt. $K\breve{u}mgang$ and Mt. Chungryang under taken by Joseon people, this study strived to extrapolate the characteristics of the travelers who visited Mt. Jiri, the motivation for their travels, the journey itself, and the style of travel employed. As a result of this exercise, those who traveled to Mt. Jiri were found to exhibit common characteristics in terms of aspects such as their area of residence, personalities, and hobbies. As these were naturally reflected in their travels, the motivation for such trips, as well as the journey to Mt.Jiri itself, tended to differ from those associated with travels to Mt. $K\breve{u}mgang$ and Mt. Chungryang. As far as the style of travel was concerned, the study focused on such aspects as the length of the trip, preparations, nature of the companions, transportation, meals and accommodations, as well as the activities carried out during the travel itself. Here, the comparison with the travelers to Mt. $K\breve{u}mgang$ and Mt. Chungryang revealed no significant differences.
This study investigated the relationship of physical activity types with depression, stress and happiness in the elderly. The data were from the seventh Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2019, 2,381 cases. The results showed the levels of Activity of Daily Living were relatively high, but the levels of moderate recreational activity and aerobic physical activity prevalence were low. The levels of depression, stress and happiness were satisfactory. There were some differences in depression, stress and happiness by the levels of activity of daily living, moderate recreational activity and aerobic physical activity prevalence. The implications to enhance physical activities and mental health for the elderly were discussed.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess appropriate time to convert intramuscular progesterone support to oral administration for luteal phase support in in vitro fertilization (IVF). Methods: Seventy-six cycles of IVF in which fetal heart beat was identified after treatment were included. Patients underwent controlled ovarian hyperstimulation with GnRH agonist long protocol (n=7) or GnRH antagonist protocol (n=66). Cryopreserved embryo transfer was performed in three cycles. Luteal support was initiated by daily intramuscular injection of progesterone, and after confirmation of fetal heart beat, converted to oral micronized progesterone (Utrogestan, Laboratoires Besins International, France) 300 mg daily before or after 8 gestational weeks. The oral progesterone was continued for 11 weeks. Results: Overall clinical abortion rate was 3.9% (3/76) and mean time to conversion was $8^{+4}$ gestational weeks ($46{\pm}5.8$ days after oocytes retrieval). The abortion rate was 5.6% (1/17) and 3.4% (2/59) in patients with conversion before 7 weeks and after 8 weeks, respectively, which were not statistically significant (p=0.678). The miscarriages were occurred at $9^{+4}$ weeks, $11^{+3}$ weeks and $11^{+4}$ weeks. Conclusion: Sequential luteal support using intramuscular and oral progesterone yields a relatively low clinical abortion rate. If fetal heart beat confirmed, sequential regimen appears to be safe and convenient method to reduce patients' discomfort induced by multiple injections.

Silage additives are needed to increase the quality of whole crop rice silage which seldom produce without the additives due to both high pH and butyric acid concentrations. Little information, however, is available about the silage fermentation of whole crop rice added with silage additives in Korea. This study was conducted to determine the optimum levels of silage additives by evaluating the effects of latic acid bacteria (LAB) and formic acid concentrations on the silage quality of whole crop rice harvested at different mature stages. Field study was established early in May until October 7th on a rice field at Yupori, Sinbuk-yeup, Chunchon, Kangwon-Do. "Ilpum" mutant rice was harvested at six different mature stages; booting stage (17 Aug.), milk-ripe stage (27 Aug.), dough stage (7 Sep.), yellow ripe stage (17 Sep.), dead ripe stage (27 Sep.) and full ripe stage (7 Oct.). Each sample was ensiled in three different ways; with 1) LAB (0.05, 0.1 and 0.2% of sample wt), 2) formic acids (0.2, 0.3 and 0.4% of sample wt.) and 3) no additive. The additive levels did not affect dry matter content, crude protein, fiber and total digestable neutriant concentrations at all stages. Addition of additives significantly decreased the silage pH and butyric acid concentrations which tended to be more decreased with higher levels of additives. Latic acid concentrations were higher with the use of additives, especially with LAB. The lower concentrations of ammonia-N were observed in additive treatments at all stages, but the concentrations of ammonia-N did not differ according to the additve levels after yellow ripe stage (0.69, 0.60 and 0.71% of DM in 0.05, 01 and 0.2% of LAB, respectively; 0.64 0.59 and 0.75% of DM in 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4% of formic acid, respectively). These results indicate that the optimum addition levels of LAB and formic acid are 0.5∼0.1% and 0.2∼0.3%, respectively, on which the high quality of rice whole crop silage was produced. produced.
The enhancement of the growth of lactic bateria in rice-based beverage was achieved by the prefermentation of cereals with a mixed culture of Bacillus and yeast followed by extrusion cooking. The rice-soybean milk blend was inoculated with a mixed culture of Bacillus laevolactis and Saccaromyces cerevisiae, and fermented in solid state at $45^{\circ}C$. It was extruded in an autogenous single screw extruder for sterilization as well as for partial digestion, and subjected to lactic fermentation in liquid state. The combined prefermentation and extrusion cooking increased the content of water soluble solid. It stimulated the growth of lactic bacteria as well as the acid production and increased dispersion stability and sensory acceptability.
We conducted a screening and checked the cultivation methods of lactic acid bacteria, which have anti-atopic dermatitis functions, by determining the lactic acid bacteria's immune enhancement by FACS, and antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The increase of Tcell CD4+/CD25+/foxp3+ was bigger in Lactobacillus plantarum than Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis (Lc. lactis) and the antimicrobacterial activity against S. aureus was the opposite. The antimicrobial activity of Lb. plantarum culture with medium containing Lc. lactis culture broth was not enhanced, but the antimicrobial activity of Lc. lactis cultured in a medium containing Lb. plantarum culture broth was enhanced. As the optimal method caltivation of Lc. lactis in a medium containing 10% of heat-killed Lb. plantarum culture broth was chosen. By this method, the antibacterial activity of the pure Lc. lactis culture increased sharply at the end of the log phase, while a restraint effect on the growth of S. aureus increased 1.29 times.
