유막 베어링에 지지된 탄성회전체의 모드 밸런싱 실험 (Experiment Onmodal Balancing of a Flexible Rotor Supported on Fluid Film Bearings)

  • Experiment on the modal balancing of a flexible rotor supported on two kinds of fluid film bearings is performed to verify the modal balancing theory. The fluid film bearings are a tilting pad bearing and a two axial grooved journal bearing. One is inherently stable, but the other is not. The experimental result shows that the modal balancing method is effective for balancing of a high speed flexible rotor system. Besides, the critical speeds and mode shapes measured experimentally are in good coincidence with the results of rotordynamic analysis. Oil whip, which is the instability phenomenon due to fluid film force, is also observed during the experiment.

유정압베어링 운동특성의 효과적인 예측을 위한 새로운 유막 해석방법의 개발 (Development of a New Analysis Method of Fluid Film for Efficient Estimate of the Moving Characteristics of Hydrostatic Bearings)

  • Hydrostatic bearings are widely used in precision machines due to their high motion guide accuracy, low friction and high load carrying capacity. It is very useful to estimate the moving characteristics of hydrostatic bearings in the design stage. A new method is suggested for the analysis of fluid film in hydrostatic bearings. A combined mesh of 8 node solid elements with negligible deformation resistance and spring-dashpot elements is used in conjunction with the user subroutine of ABAQUS to represent the fluid film. The mesh can be used to capture the deformation of the bearing structure as well as the varying properties of fluid film. Analysis results from the finite element model are compared with theoretical solutions, results from FLUENT analysis and some previous works. With this method, static and dynamic analyses of the system containing the bearings can be performed efficiently.

윤활유 부족 상태에서의 볼 베어링 유막 두께 변화에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Change in the Film Thickness of Ball Bearing in Starved EHL)

  • In this study, we perform a numerical analysis to predict the film thickness and lubrication regions for a thrust ball bearing under different operating conditions. Film thinning and replenishment affect the film thickness in starved lubrication. As the inlet meniscus position is brought to the edge of the Hertz contact, the thin film thickness is calculated as starved equation. We use a film replenishment model to determine the recovery film thickness between rolling elements. We use a hydrodynamic model to describe film recovery, that results from the effects of surface tension. In this model, we consider the surface tension gradient in fluid depression as the driving force for fluid recovery. We use Fourier transform method to determine the time-dependent depth of depressed oil. We calculate the change in the central film thickness graphically by using the recovery equation in starved elastohydrodynamic lubrication(EHL) under operating conditions that include numbers of balls, sliding velocity, applied force, and ambient film thickness. We evaluate the degree of starvation by using the distance from the center of the contact area to the meniscus position. Parched lubrication, a phenomenon where the film thickness decreases consistently, occurs at the severe condition. We determine optimal values with respect to the numbers of balls, and sliding velocity. The investigation can contribute to the design operating conditions for proper lubrication.

  • 회전기계의 고성능, 고속화에 따라 베어링 유막특성에서 자려진동이 발생하기 쉬운 조건이 되고 더욱이 고압화에 의해 자동유체로부터 불안정한 힘이 증대하게 되었다. 또한, 고속화에 의해 계의 운전속도가 1차 위험속도 이상으로 되어 시동, 정지시에 위험속도를 통과하여야 하며, 고차 위험속도에서의 공진가능성 등을 충분히 검토하여야 한다. 따라서 종래의 실제방법만으로는 회전기계의 진동문제에 충분히 대처할 수 없는 상태이다.

  • 본 연구에서는 에어오일 윤활하의 고속용 앵귤러 콘택트 볼베어링에 있어서, 여러 축방향의 하중과 윤활량의 변화에 대하여 회전속도에 따른 베어링의 마찰 토오크를 변화를 측정하고, 또한 회전속도, 하중 및 윤활량의 변화가 베어링 접촉부에서의 유막형성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 알아보고자 한다.

  • The tilting pad journal bearings have been widely used to support high pressure/high rotating turbine rotors owing to their inherent dynamic stability characteristics. However, fatigue damages in the upper unloaded pads and the break of locking pins etc. by pad fluttering are continuously taken place in the actual steam turbines. The purpose of this paper is to develop a new bearing model that can prevent bearing problems effectively by pad fluttering in a tilting pad journal bearing. A new bearing model which has a wedged groove is suggested from the studies of fluttering mechanism performed by previously research works. The fluttering characteristics of the upper unloaded pad are studied experimentally in order to verify the reliability of a new bearing model. It can be known that the phenomenon of pad fluttering nearly does not occurred in the new bearing model under the various experimental conditions. And it is observed that any kinds of bearing failures by pad fluttering does not detect in the application of acture steam turbines.

회전기계-기초의 상호작용을 고려한 지진해석 (Seismic Anslysis of Rotating Machine-Foundation System)

  • 여섯 성분의 지진에 의한 지반속도를 받는 회전기계-기초시스템의 거동을 해석하기 위해 회전기계-기초시스템을 회전원판, 회전축, 윤활유막 베어링, 주각, 그리고 뼈대기초로 구성된 것으로 이상화한다. 이때 회전기계-기초의 동적거동을 나타내는 지배운동방정식은 Gyroscope 효과와 Coriolis 효과, 윤활유막의 동적특성 그리고 지반의 병진과 회전거동을 고려하여 얻는다. 지반의 회전거동, Gyroscope 효과, 그리고 Coriolis 효과들이 회전기계-기초시스템의 전체거동에 미치는 영향을 해석예젤르 통해 고찰한다. 해석결과 회전기계-기초시스템의 지진해석에 있어서 지반의 회전거동 성분과 Gyroscope 효과의 영향을 포함하여야함을 알 수 있다.
