  • 최근 발표된 고대구로병원 최경묵 교수의 연구에 따르면 당뇨병환자의 근육감소증 발병률이 일반인에 비해 3배나 높은 것으로 나타났다. 실제 근육이 많으면 당 조절에도 효과적인 것으로 알려져 있다. 당뇨병에서 걷기나 달리기 등 유산소운동의 중요성에 대해서 많이 알려져 있고, 실제 대부분의 환자들이 실천하고 있지만, 근력운동은 소홀한 경우가 많다.

Brown Color Characteristics and Antioxidizing Activity of Doenjang Extracts (된장의 지용성ㆍ수용성추출물에 대한 갈색 특성 및 항산화 효과)

  • Brown color characteristics and antioxidizing activities were investigated for Doenjang under different processing conditions. Doenjang A was prepared directly from Meju and saline solution whereas Doenjang B was Prepared after separating soy sauce by soaking for 45 days. Both Doenjangs were aged for up to 180 days. Antioxidizing activity was studied in relation to the brown color characteristics using fat-soluble extract and water-soluble extract of Doenjang. The intensity of brown color was higher in the water-soluble Doenjang extract than the fat-soluble Doenjang extract. In the UV-VIS scanning spectra, water-soluble Doenjang extracts showed significant changes as the aging proceeded, but fat-soluble Doenjang extract did not. Antioxidizing activity of fat-soluble Doenjang extract increased as the aging period extended; however, no significant difference was detected in the water-soluble extract. Overall, Doenjang A showed higher contents of amino acids, reducing sugar, brown color, and antioxidizing activity, and the antioxidizing ability was higher in water-soluble Doenjang extract rather than in the fat-soluble Doenjang extract.

Establishment of Rice Bakanae Disease Management Using Slightly Acidic Hypochlorous Acid Water (미산성 차아염소산수를 이용한 벼키다리 병 방제)

  • Rice bakanae is a typical seed-borne and seed-transmitted disease caused by infection by Fusarium fujikuroi. Seed disinfection using chemical fungicides (such as benomyl and prochloraz) is most effective in controlling the disease, but the emergence of fungicide-resistant strains has recently been increasing. Slightly acidic hypochlorous acid water (SAHW) is a safe and environmentally friendly disinfectant that has a potent and broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity against viruses, bacteria, and fungi. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effectiveness of SAHW against F. fujikuroi strains, including chemical fungicide-resistant strains, as an alternative to conventional chemical fungicides in the management of bakanae disease. SAHW showed strong but similar levels of antifungal activity among the F. fujikuroi strains with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC90) of 5±2.5 ppm of free available chlorine (FAC). In addition, F. fujikuroi cells lost viability completely within 5 min of SAHW treatment due to the lethal damage to cell integrity. When the rice seeds infected by F. fujikuroi were treated with SAHW containing 20±10 ppm of FAC for 12 hr, the efficiencies of seed disinfection and disease control were 95-98% and 90.1-92.6%, respectively. Altogether, our data suggest that SAHW is an effective compound for controlling rice bakanae disease.

The Production of Artificial Fruiting Body of Paecilomyces japonica (Paecilomyces japonica 인공 자실체 형성)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the morphological characteristics and cultural conditions for artificial fruiting body(synnemata) production of Paecilomyces japonica. In the morphological characteristics of P. japonica, the size of it's conidia was ranged from $5.0{\sim}1.5\;to\;7.9{\sim}2.4\;{\mu}m$. The artificial fruiting body showed yellow in color, shape was confirmed ellipsoidal or obovoid type, and the length was $50.6{\sim}104.5\;mm$. The mycelial growth on the PDA medium treated with pH7, at $25^{\circ}C$ was superior to that of other treatments. The formation period of an artificial fruiting body of P. japonica treated with polypropylene and glass bottle culture was 30 days and 50 days, respectively. The length and number of fruiting body was longer and higher in the polypropylene bottle culture than those of the glass bottle culture. As the results, the artificial fruiting body production in the polypropylene bottle increased 1.2g per bottle compared to that of the glass bottle. It also increased in $100{\sim}400\;lx$ illumination, whereas the elongation of synnemata, pinheading and fruiting body growth were inhibited by continuous use of 900 lx illumination. The results of these experiment indicated that fruiting body formation seemed to be lower as the light intensity increased. The fruiting body formation was also dependent on the light color. There was a higher incidence in red color light and fluorescent light treatment than that of incandescent and blue color light. The fruiting body of the naked barley medium had so much better growth compared to other media that it would be able to use for it's production. The growth of fruiting body was affected by $CO_2$ concentration. It increased after putting the lid on the bottle.

Cultural characteristics and fruiting-body productivity of Lentinula edodes with bottle and box (상자, 병을 이용한 표고 재배특성 및 자실체 생산성)

  • This study was carried out to develop a method for cultivation of Lentinula edodes that would reduce both labor and waste. Cultural characteristics were studied, and mushroom yields were estimated to identify the most suitable method to culture L. edodes, using bottles and boxes. Among these, box cultivation with 7 kg of substrate had 40 days of browning period and the maximum yield of 945 g fruiting body; its biological efficiency was 32.7%. In contrast, box cultivation after pre-culture, and the bottle cultivation were found to be unsuitable for the production of L. edodes, due to long periods of browning, and low yields with poor quality, respectively. Further studies on box cultivation of L. edodes are necessary for commercial application of this method.

  • 면역성 용혈성 빈혈증 병견은 임상적으로 허약, 황달, 발열, 침울 및 점막창백을 나타낸다. 본 병의 진단은 구상적혈구증가증, 혈구응집반응 또는 직접적 Coomb시험 양성반응을 확인함과 동시에 용혈성 빈혈의 다른 원인을 배제함으로서 확정하여야 한다. 치료방법에는 적절한 보조적 요법과 함께 면역억압제가 포함된다. 일반적으로 치료에 있어서는 일차적으로 glucocorticoids가 선택되는데 흔히 cytoxan, aziothioprin, vincristine 또는 danazole과 같은 다른 약제와 병용된다. 치료는 그 반응에 근거하여 면역억압제의 용량을 2-4주 간격으로 점차 감량하면서 6개월 또는 그 이상까지 계속한다. 면역억압제에 대한 치료반응은 지연될 수 있고 또 적혈구 보유가 골수로부터 새로운 적혈구를 유리하게될 때까지 병축을 유지시키기에 부적당할 수 있기 때문에 병축의 예후판정은 경계하여야 한다. 심급성 내지 급성 예는 일반적으로 예후가 보다더 좋지 않다.

  • 비만은 제2형 당뇨병, 심혈관계 질환, 그리고 암을 비롯해 각종 질병의 위험인자로 작용한다. 비만은 낮은 수준의 전신성 염증상태로 간주되며, 비만시 증가하는 염증성 분자는 제2형 당뇨병 또는 동맥경화등의 비만성 질병 발생과정에 깊이 관여한다. 따라서, 염증제어는 비만성 질환제어를 위해 매우 중요하다. 지방세포 비대에 따른 지방세포 기능이상은 아디포사이토카인의 분비 이상을 초래하고, 비만성 질환의 발생 및 촉진자로 작용한다. 비만환자에게서의 MCP-1과 같은 염증성 아디포사이토카인의 분비 제어는 비만성 질환을 예방하거나, 또는 질병 발생 및 진행을 지연시키는 전략적 가치가 있을 것으로 사료된다. 지방세포가 분비하는 케모카인 가운데 MCP-1은 비대한 지방조직내로의 대식세포의 침윤 및 활성화를 유도하며, 특히 비대한 지방조직에서의 염증반응을 증폭시키는 역할을 한다. MCP-1은 내 장지 방조직에서 특히 그 분비량이 높았고, 따라서, 복부비만 관련 질환의 타겟분자로서 가치가 있을 것으로 생각된다. 또한, MCP-1 작용을 저해하는 항염증성 phytochemical은 비만으로 인한 염증성 질환의 발생을 지연시키거나, 즉 예방적인 차원에서 유용할 것으로 사료된다.

Comparison of sample storage containers for the analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOC) (휘발성유기물(VOC) 분석을 위한 시료보관 용기의 비교)

  • Polymer bags, metallic canisters, and glass bottles have been used as containers for analyzing the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in air. In this study, various sampling containers were compared to investigate the short-term stability of VOCs, that is, from the time they are sampled to the time they are analyzed. Polyvinyl fluoride (PVF), polypropylene (PP), polyester aluminum (PE-Al) bags, canisters, and glass bottles were used as sample containers. A 100 nmol/mol standard gas mixture of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, m-xylene, styrene, and o-xylene was used for the VOC comparison. Changes in the concentrations of samples stored for 10~20 day in each container were measured using a thermal desorption-gas chromatograph-flame ionization detector (TD-GC-FID). As a result, VOCs stored in a canister and two kinds of amber glass bottles have shown immaterial decreases in concentration in one week, and more than 80 % of the initial concentration was maintained for two weeks. In the case of polymer bags, the concentration of all VOCs, except benzene and toluene, were remarkably decreased below 70% of the initial concentration in one day. Particularly, ethylbenzene, xylene, and styrene have shown dramatic decreases in concentration below 30 % of the initial concentration in all polymer bags in one day.

  • '포장재 재질 구조개선 제도'란 "자원의 절약과 재활용 촉진에 관한 법률" 제9조의2에 의거하여 재활용의무생산자가 포장재 설계 생산 단계부터 재활용성을 고려하여 재질 구조를 재활용이 쉽도록 개선하기 위한 제도이다. 이와 관련하여 "포장재 재질 구조 개선 등에 관한 기준"(환경부 고시 제2014-123호) 및 "포장재 재질 구조 개선 제도 운영지침"(환경부 예규 제534호)이 제정 고시되었으며, (사)한국포장재재활용사업공제조합은 환경부 예규 제13조에 따라 포장재 재질 구조 개선 제도 운영기관으로 지정되었다. 이와 관련해 (사)한국포장재재활용사업공제조합은 재질 구조개선 신청 포장재에 대한 객관적인 데이터를 확보하여 평가심의위원회에 정확한 근거자료를 제공하기 위해 포장재 재질 구조 시험방법을 제시했다. 본 고에서는 약 5회에 걸쳐, 포장재별 재질 구조개선 기준 및 시험방법을 연재할 계획이며 이번 호에서는 '종이팩 포장재'와 '유리병 포장재'에 대하여 살펴본다.
