The method of estimating a position using a GPS has been applied to various fields including a navigation system of an automobile. However, since it is difficult to measure GPS signals indoors, it is difficult to locate specific objects indoors such as a building or factory. To overcome these limitations, this study proposes a system for object location estimation based on Bluetooth5 for the management of materials in factories. The object position estimation system consists of a Bluetooth signal generator, a receiver, and a database server. A signal generator based on Bluetooth Low Energy(BLE) is attached to the material and a receiver is appropriately arranged inside the factory. In this study, we propose "Diagonal Survey Method", a 4 - axis survey algorithm using four receivers to reduce the error of existing trilateration method. The proposed algorithm showed good performance compared to the conventional trilateration and we verified the effectiveness of the proposed system and algorithm by performing the experiment by installing the system in the factory.

In this study, we constructed a virtual auditory display(VAD) that enables listener to move in a room freely. The VAD system was installed in a soundproof room($4.7m(W){\times}2.8m(D){\times}3.0m(H)$). The system consisted of a personal computer, a sound presentation device, and a three-dimensional ultrasound sensor system. This system acquires listener's location and position from a three-dimension ultrasonic sensor system covering the entire room. Localization was realized by convolving the sound source with head related transfer functions(HRTFs) on personal computer(PC). The calculated result is generated through a LADOMi(Localization Auditory Display with Opened ear-canal for Mixed Reality). The HRTFs used in the experiment were measured for each listener with loudspeakers constantly 1.5m away from the center of the listener' s head in an anechoic room. To evaluate the system performance, we experimented a search task of a sound source position in the condition that the listener is able to move all around the room freely. As a result, the positioning error of presented sound source was within 30cm in average for all listeners.

This paper presents the efficient localization of a mobile robot traveling on the floor with tags installed, using the spatial and temporal information acquired from passive RFID environment. Compared to previous research, the proposed localization method can reduce the position estimation error and also cut down the initial cost tag installation cost. Basically, it is assumed that a mobile robot is traveling over a series of straight line segments, each at a certain constant velocity, and that the number of tags sensed by a mobile robot at each sampling instant is at most one. First, the velocity and position estimation of a mobile robot starting from a known position, which is valid for all segments except the first one. Second, for the first segment in which the starting position is unknown, the velocity and position estimation is made possible by enforcing a mobile robot to traverse at least two tags at a constant velocity with the steering angle unchanged. Third, through experiments using our passive RFID localization system, the validity and performance of the mobile robot localization proposed in this paper is demonstrated.
The effect of multipath is especially serious in urban area and sea surface where buildings and water reflect GPS signal. Multipath brings about the performance degradation on many GPS application because the presence of multipath causes the diminution of pseudorange measurement accuracy in turn position accuracy. In this paper, a multipath mitigation named weighted correlation method is implemented on software GPS receiver, in which the asymmetric correlation function is compensated by modifying the late correlation value. Asymmetry compensation is obtained as weighted sum of two correlators which have different early-late chip spaces. This structure is adopted to lessen the computation load lower keeping up performance similar to that. The performance of implemented multipath mitigation technique is evaluated using GPS signal and multipath signal generated by GPS signal generator and software GPS receiver. The test results show that the weighted correlation method gives hefter performance than the standard correlator and the narrow correlator.

The combined bundle block adjustment with projection center coordinates determined by kinematic DGPS-positioning has reached a high level of accuracy. Standard deviations of the ground coordinates of $\pm{10cm}$ or even better can be reached. On this accuracy level also smaller error components are becoming more important. One major point of this is the interpolation of the projection centers as a function of time between the GPS-antenna locations. A just linear interpolation is not respecting the not linear movement of the aircraft. Based on a least squares polynomial fitting the aircraft maneuver can be estimated more accurate and blunders of the GPS-positions caused by loss of satellite and cycle slips are determinable. The interpolation with a time interval of 3sec in the study area RHEINKAMP is quite different to the interpolation with a time interval of 6-7sec in the study area MAAS. The GPS-positions of the study area are identified as blunders based on a local polynomial regression. This cannot be neglected for precise block adjustment.
The GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) signal is delayed by the neutral atmosphere at the troposphere, so that the delay is one of major error sources for GNSS precise positioning. The tropospheric delay is an integrated refractive index along the path of GNSS signal. The refractive index is empirically related to standard meteorological variables, such as pressure, temperature and water vapor partial pressure, therefore the tropospheric delay could be calculated from them. In this paper, it is presented how to generate meteorological data where observation cannot be performed. KASI(Korea Astronomy & Space Science Institute) has operated 9 GPS (Global Positioning System) permanent stations equipped with co-located MET3A, which is a meteorological sensor. Meteorological data are generated from observations of MET3A by Ordinary Kriging. To compensate a blank of observation data, simple models which consider periodic characteristics for meteorological data, are employed.

In this thesis, to compensate the sweep nonlinearity occurring in the high resolution radar system using FMICW or FMCW, the method of the estimation of the nonlinearity is proposed. The nonlinear phase component caused by the nonlinear characteristic of the radar system is modelled as a linear combination of the sinusoidal functions consisting of various magnitudes and phases(systematic nonlinear phase error) and a random component(stochastic nonlinear phase error). From two IF signals that are measured respectively independently for two reference point targets lying in different distances which are known, a sparse linear equation is made and solved by least squares method to estimate the nonlinear phase component. The estimated component can be used for predistortion method to compensate the sweep nonlinearity.
In this paper, we proposed a RSS based cooperative localization algorithm using VRN for wireless sensor networks, which can estimate the BN position. The proposed localization system monitoring all nodes estimates a position of BN, and calculates an intersection area with cooperative localization. From the results, we confirm that BN intersection area is reduced as the number of RN is increased. In addition, the fewer RN exists, the more iteration needs at least 4 times. Moreover, the propose algorithm using 4 RNs is improved 71.6% estimation performance than conventional method. Therefore, the cooperative localization algorithm with VRN provides higher localization accuracy than RSS based conventional method.

Recently a new spectrum ruling has been proposed for UWB(Ultra-Wideband) communication applications. The new proposal is expected to reduce the usable UWB spectrum significantly and may cause to weaken the unique advantages of the UWB pulses such as high resolution synchronizations and robustness to the multipath effects. In this paper, we investigate the performance degradation caused by the reduced UWB spectrum. As a means to overcome the performance degradation, a modified discrete linear frequency modulation technique is proposed. We show that, when multipath components are present in the received signal, the proposed method exhibits superior performances in terms of pulse detection efficiency and range resolutions.

Generally, loop filter based scalar tracking loops (LF-STL) have been used for global positioning system (GPS) signal tracking algorithm. This paper introduces the accuracy and robustness of linear-quadratic-Gaussian based vector tracking loop (LQG-VTL) algorithm instead of LF-STL. To verify the accuracy of LQG-VTL, we confirm that the measurements estimation errors of the LQG based scalar tracking loops (LQG-STL) are improved by more than 60 % compared to LF-STL. Also, when LQG-VTL is used, measurements estimation errors decrease compared to LQG-STL, and position/velocity estimation errors also decrease as the number of satellites increases. To verify the robustness of LQG-VTL, we confirm that LQG-VTL can estimate position/velocity and measurements successively compared to LF-STL in temporal signal attenuation of 30 dB-Hz during 4 seconds.
