  • We propose a near- field scanning optical interferometer (NSOI) based on the facet reflection of a nano-sized moveable tapered optical fiber. The interferometer can measure the position and the wave-front of a focused spot simultaneously. The interfering fringes are generated by the reflected beams from the sample surface and from the fiber facet. The wave-front analysis at the focusing position is obtained by using a phase shifting technique with a four-step algorithm. It is found that the resolution for controlling the focal position of our proposed NSOI is less than λ/3 and the measured wave-front aberration at the focal position is in good agreement with the ones obtained by a Twyman-Green interferometer.

  • Various reflectometry methods to locate power cable fault have been studied. But, most related studies has been verifying by simulation and laboratory test and study in conditions similar with real cable fault filed was not performed due to the absence of cable fault test field. Therefore, this paper design and construct test field for the standardized performance test and the operating education of cable fault location equipments. In the constructed test, open, short, half open and poor contact fault at 100m, 200m location of cable was produced and 1km cable role was installed for maximum distance measurement test. The test field will be used in the development and standardization of cable fault location technology, and te performance evaluation and certificate test of the related equipments.

  • This paper proposes a method of optimizing a stacking strategy for an automated container terminal using multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs). Since the yard productivities of seaside and landside are conflicting objectives to be optimized, it is impossible to maximize them simultaneously. Therefore, we derive a Pareto optimal set instead of a single best solution using an MOEA. Preliminary experiments showed that the population is frequently stuck in local optima because of the difficulty of the given problem depending on the yard occupancy rate. To cope with this problem, we propose another method of simultaneously optimizing two problems with different difficulties so that diverse solutions can be preserved in the population. Experimental results showed the proposed method can derive better stacking policies than the compared method solving a single problem given the same computational costs.

  • A detail design of overhead catenary system can be divided into a pegging plan and a design of MD(mounting diagram). In the pegging plan, the mast location, staggering and tension length are determined in the longitudinal point of view according to track condition, location of substation and etc. In the MD, a transversal diagram including masts, all of wires, cantilever, foundation and etc. and materials used are shown. This study presents a development of a software to design the MD for a conventional catenary system automatically. In the program, thin walled steel pole, foundation, cantilever, all of wires and etc. are automatically drawn according to the input and catenary conditions. And materials used in the MD and the section can be also managed respectively in the program. This application of the program is developed using C# for input/calculating and using C++(ObjectARX) for drafting the MD, respectively.

  • The smart grid technology is expected to significantly improve energy efficiency by dynamic power supply. One of its application is the Vehicle-to-Grid(V2G) that utilizes an electric vehicle's battery as a household storage battery. Meanwhile, a lot of researches are recently investigated in the area of wireless energy transfer technology because of its convenience and safety in charging a battery. With the wireless energy transfer infrastructure a wireless magnetic induction communication technique can help the dynamic power supply of the smart grid more efficient. In this paper, we propose a wireless magnetic induction communication sion cowhich includes data transmission and location-aware functions. We expect the sion cohelp the smart grid to control power supply more efficiently. We also developed its test-bed and evaluated the performance.

  • The focused MVDR (Minimum Variance Distortionless Response) can be applied for source localization in near field. However, if the number of sensors are increased, it requires a large amount of calculation to obtain the inverse of the covariance matrix. In this paper we propose a focused MVDR method using that beam space is formed from output of far field beamformer at the subarray. The performances of the proposed method was evaluated by simulation. As a result of simulation, the proposed method has the higher spatial resolution performance then the conventional delay-and-sum beamformer.

  • This paper proposes a geoacoustic inversion method for the experimental data or MAPLE 2004 experiment conducted in the East Sea of Korea in 2004 and shows source tracking test results to validate the Proposed inversion method. An objective function is defined as a correlation function of the measured and the simulated transmission loss data. The measured transmission data were obtained using a multi-tonal towed source and VLA. The VFSA (Very Fast Simulated Annealing) is applied to the inversion Problem which optimizes the objective function. After performing the inversion process for the S frequencies tonal data independently. geoacoustic models are constructed. Finally matched-field source tracking is Performed using the inverted parameters to verify them.

  • Heat transfer plays a critical role in determining interface location and shape in ZMR process, which is used for the fabrication of silicon - on - insulator structure. In this work, the two - dimensional pseudo - steady - state ZMR model has been developed that can simulate the heat transfer process during ZMR process. It contains the radiation, convection and conduction heat transfer and determines the interface shapes. Numerical solutions from the model include flow field in the molten zone, temperature field in the full SOl structure and the location of solid/liquid interface in the silicon thin film and silicon substrate. We examined the effects of the various system parameters on the temperature profiles and the interface shape.
