  • In this paper, we propose a new location service and location-based routing for data dissemination from a source to a mobile group sink in less energy consumption of the sensor node. Unlike the existing protocols, the proposed protocol uses a leader sink instead of a group area as the location information to represent a mobile sink group. The proposed protocol also uses grid leaders on virtual grid structure to support sink mobility in location service. By using a leader sink as a representative and grid leaders for mobility supporting, the proposed protocol can exploit an efficient hierarchical location service and data dissemination method without using flooding. Accordingly, the proposed protocol carries out upper layer location services and data dissemination between a leader sink and a source and lower layer location services and data dissemination between the leader sink and member sinks. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed protocol achieves energy-efficiency.

  • To realize LBS (Location Based Service), typically GPS is mostly used. However, this system can be only used in out-sides. Furthermore, the use of the GPS in sensor networks is not efficient due to the low power consumption. Hence, we propose methods for the location positioning which is runnable at indoor in this paper. The proposed methods elaborate the location positioning system via applying K-NN(K-Nearest Neighbour) Algorithm with its intermediate values based on IEEE 802.15.4 technology; which is mostly used for the sensor networks. Logically the accuracy of the location positioning is proportional to the number of sampling sensor nodes' RSS according to the K-NN. By the way, numerous sampling uses a lot of sensor networks' resources. In order to reduce the number of samplings, we, instead, attempt to use the intermediate values of K-NN's signal boundaries, so that our proposed methods are able to positioning almost two times as accurate as the general ways of K-NN's result.

Among various mobile services, Location-based Service (LBS) is an important feature to increase user motivation related to purchase intention on mobile. However, individual privacy has also increased as an important problem for invasion of privacy and information leakage while too many LBS based applications (App) rapidly launched in the App market. In this study, we focused on perceived values of LBS App users who use Apps related to recommending best restaurants in China and South Korea. The purpose of this study is to identify important factors for perceived value when users provide personal information for LBS service provider. The result of this study is follows: perceived value can increase while LBS customers can more control self-information and information useability. Also information ability of users affected perceived values for LBS Apps. Also users' app user ability and perceived value were effects on privacy revenue. In addtion, perceived weakness of users and perceived value increased privacy threat.

  • The prevailing infrastructure of ubiquitous computing paradigm on the one hand making significant development for integrating technology in the daily life but on the other hand raising concerns for privacy and confidentiality. This research presents a new privacy-preserving spatio-temporal query processing technique, in which location based services (LBS) can be serviced without revealing specific locations of private users. Existing location cloaking techniques are based on a grid-based structures such as a Quad-tree and a multi-layered grid. Grid-based approaches can suffer a deterioration of the quality in query results since they are based on pre-defined size of grids which cannot be adapted for variations of data distributions. Instead of using a grid, we propose a location-cloaking algorithm which uses the R-tree, a widely adopted spatio-temporal index structure. The proposed algorithm uses the MBRs of leaf nodes as the cloaked locations of users, since each leaf node guarantees having not less than a certain number of objects. Experimental results show the superiority of the proposed method.

  • We propose an effective ToA-based localization method considering accuracy in indoor environments. The purpose of the localization system is to estimate the coordinates of the geographic location of target device. In indoor environments, accurately estimating the location of a target device is not easy due to various errors. The accuracy of wireless localization is influenced by NLOS errors. ToA-based localization measures the location of a target device using the distances between a mobile device and three or more base stations. However, each of the NLOS errors along a distance estimated from a target device to a base station is different because of dissimilar obstacles. To accurately estimate the target's location, an optimized localization process is needed in indoor environments. In this paper, effective ToA-based localization method process is proposed for improving accuracy in wireless sensor networks. Performance evaluations are presented, and the experimental localization system results are proved through comparisons of various localization methods with the proposed methods.

  • We propose an RFID system based on range-free localization method. This method recognizes pre-determined reference tags first, and then checks within which reference tag the target tag is placed closest. It estimates target tag's position relative to the reference tag's position. We use Aging Counter to estimate the distance between reference and target tags using the read ratio of RFID tags. Practicality of the proposed method is verified by applying it to a library book locating system.

  • Localization in wireless sensor networks is to determine the positions of all nodes based on the Down positions of several nodes. Much previous work for localization use multilateration or triangulation based on measurement of angles or distances to the fixed nodes. In this paper, we propose a new centralized algorithm for localization using weights of adjacent nodes. The algorithm, having the advantage of simplicity, shows that the localization problem can be formulated to a linear matrix equalities. We mathematically show that the equalities have a unique solution. The unique solution indicates the locations of unknown nodes are capable of being uniquely determined. Three kinds of weights proposed for practical use are compared in simulation analysis.
