  • In the satellite communications, the frequency sharing with other services is important because the service coverage is generally very wide and overlaps with those of other wireless services. This paper introduces a new technique to mitigate interference into the terrestrial stations from the Earth station in the same frequency band by means of band segmentations which are portions of the overall operation frequency band divided by frequency reuse factor. We consider a multi-beam satellite system, where frequency bands are reused in each satellite cell. The terrestrial stations use band segmentations of adjacent satellite cells, and this may decrease the interferences. By this way, the terrestrial and satellite systems can share the same frequency bands efficiently. The simulation is performed at frequency reuse factors, seven and three. The simulation results show that the proposed method can highly reduce the interference level to -168 dBW or -163 dBW depending on the considered frequency reuse factor from -117 dBW at the 90% link availability.

  • The rights and obligations of the Member States of ITU in the domain of international frequency management of the spectrum/orbit resource are incorporated in the Constitution and Convention of the ITU and in the Radio Regulations that complement them. These instruments contain the main principles and lay down the specific regulations governing the major elements such as rights and obligations of member administrations in obtaining access to the spectrum/orbit resource, as well as international recognition of these rights by recording frequency assignments and, as appropriate, any associated orbits, including the geostationary-satellite orbits used or intended to be used in the Master International Frequency Register (MIFR) Coordination is a further step in the process leading up to notification of the frequency assignments for recording in the MIFR. This procedure is a formal regulatory obligation both for an administration seeking to assign a frequency in its network and for an administration whose existing or planned services may be affected by that assignment. Regulatory problem lies in allowing administrations to fulfill their "bringing into use" duty for preserving his filing simply putting any satellites, whatever nationlity or technical specification may be, into filed orbit. This sort of regulatory lack may result in the emergence of the secondary market for satellite orbit. Within satellite orbit secondary market, the object of transaction may be the satellite itself, or the regulatory rights in rem, or the orbit registered in the MIFR. Recent case of selling the Koreasat belongs to the typical example of orbit transaction between private companies, the legality of which remains doubtedly controversial from the perspective of international space law as well as international transaction law. It must be noted, however, that the fact is the Koreasat 3 and its filed orbit is for sale.

  • The necessary of research is proposed about sharing between networks of the fixed-satellite service using non-geostationary satellites and other networks of the fixed-satellite service, interference criteria and calculation methods for the fixed-satellite service because WRC-2000 make a decision that the frequency bands l1/14GHz and 20/30GHz are available to system in the fixed-satellite service employing satellite in both geostationary and non-geostationary orbits. In the paper, four methodologies attempting to derive continuous curves of korea satellite network EPFD(equivalent power flux density) are used.

  • This paper proposes a routing scheme for multi-hop LEO satellite networks with inter-satellite links aiming for reducing the number of link handovers while keeping the efficient use of network resource. The proposed routing scheme controls the link handovers by taking account of the deterministic LEO satellite system dynamics, geographical location of a ground terminal and statistic information of call duration. The performance of the proposed routing scheme has been evaluated and compared with previous routing schemes in terms of average number of link handovers during a call, the call blocking and dropping probability, and the network utilization.

  • Co-existence of various wireless systems may cause frequency interference problem. For this reason, frequency sharing studies play a very important role in order to use limited spectrum resources efficiently. Especially, because a satellite system covers a global area in nature, the frequency sharing between the satellite system and terrestrial systems is essential. For satellite systems using Ka bands, we can increase spectrum efficiency by considering off-axis angles of earth station antenna. In this paper, we demonstrate the analysis result of separation distance between the satellite earth station and a terrestrial repeater, and the presented results can be used to design and implement Ka band wireless systems.

  • Recently, with the advent of satellite communication technologies, network access services through satellites have emerged as an alternaive to existing access network services. Of satellite access services including multimedia services, the high speed internet access service will be one of the important services. Particularly, the efficient transportation of real time internet traffic seems very essential. The aim of this research is to examine the applicability of the IETF RTP protocol in the satellite access network. The RTP has been developed for the QoS-met tranportation protocol of real time traffic over the existing best-effort internet. This paper summmarizes the RW protocol, and desciribes the architecture and the data structure of the implementation of the RTP.
