A Study on TOFD Inspection Using Phased Array Ultrasonic Technique (위상배열 초음파 기법을 이용한 TOFD 검사에 관한 연구)

  • The techniques in order to measure the depth of defect in weldment and structure accurately have been developed. Many researches have made efforts to develop the methods for the accurate depth sizing of defect. TOFD is known as the most accurate method of various methods for measuring depth sizing. However, there is a possibility to miss defects because of the limitation of beam coverage for the ultrasound incident angle. In this study, the results for detectability and depth sizing using phased array ultrasonic technique for thick body were compared with those of conventional TOFD technique. It was experimentally confirmed that the phased array ultrasonic TOFD technique gives good detectability and accurate depth measurement for the various types of defects. The phased array ultrasonic TOFD technique developed in this study will contribute to increase the inspection reliability in thick component such as the pressure vessel of power generation industry.

  • 국내 주요 인삼재배 산지 기반을 가진 전북 진안지역의 인삼 홍삼산업은, 재배농가 895호, 재배면적 402ha, 생산량 1,628톤, 홍삼가공업체 80개소, 판매업소 50개소로 지역경제의 25% 이상을 차지한다. 그러나 재배농가의 계열화 미흡(22%), 산지수집상(포전매매)에 의한 인근 유사 도매시장으로 재배물량과 부가가치 유출(78%), 가공시설의 노후화, 가공업체의 영세성(매출규모 연평균 2억11백만원)과 함께 중국, 캐나다, 미국 등의 국제 가격경쟁과 국내의 대기업 및 인삼산업 주요지역과의 경쟁이라는 상황에 직면하고 있다. 이러한 상황을 극복하고 지역특화명품산업으로 발전할 수 있는 방안으로, 인삼재배산지로서 원료공급지를 기반으로 하는 재배, 유통, 가공, 품질관리, 시설분야에 이르는 발전방안을 연구하였다. 산업원료 확보를 위해서는 인삼계열화 확대를 통해 원물 확보력을 강화하여야 한다. 재배분야의 경우에는 친환경재배 확대와 GAP 확대를 통해 원물의 품질경쟁력 뿐만 아니라 시장수요에 따른 브랜드마케팅 요인으로 특성화해야 한다. 유통분야는 계열화 확대를 통한 원물확보라는 산업경쟁력을 바탕으로 원료중심의 수취, 매취, 보관, 가공, 대형거래, 도소매 등 유통활성화와 유통규격포장 및 선별등급표준화를 통한 유통표준화를 추진하여야 한다. 가공의 경우, 원료홍삼 공급기능을 중심으로 가공산업을 선택 육성해야한다. 품질관리는 원물중심관리(성분, 잔류농약, 식품위생), 유통중심관리(연근, 등급), 경작중심관리(재배지, 재배자, 경작), 프로세스중심관리(재배 유통 가공 판매정보)로 구체화해야한다. 시설분야는 유통시설(대규모 집하시설, 보관시설 등 종합유통처리시설)과 가공시설(가공설비현대화, 가공공장 공인규격화;ISO, GMP, HACCP)의 지속적인 시설개선과 현대화를 추진하여야 한다.

축산농가와 출품업체를 위한 비즈니스 박람회, 8월 31일 대전무역전시관에서 개최

  • 제4회 2005년 한국국제축산박람회가 오는 8월 31일부터 9월 2일까지 KOTRA 대전무역전시관(KOTREX), 엑스포과학공원에서 '깨끗한 환경과 안전한 축산물'이라는 주제로 열린다. 본 박람회 주최는 대한양돈협회, 대한양계협회, 한국낙농육우협회, 전국한우협회, 한국축산환경시설기계협회가 되고, 대한양돈협회, 2005한국국제축산박람회추진위원회, KOTREX가 공동 주관한다. 행사 후원은 농림부, 농협중앙회, 한국사료협회, 대전광역시, 충청남도가 맡았다. 이번 박람회는 출품하는 전시업체와 참관객인 축산농가를 위한 박람회로 꾸미기 위해 우선 장소를 대전 무역전시관(KOTREX)으로 옮겨 축산농가들이 쉽게 찾아올 수 있도록 했으며, 전시부스 내에서 실제적인 상담과 거래가 활성화 될 수 있도록 시식행사 등 부대행사는 옥외에서 치러질 수 있도록 하였다. 2005 한국국제축산박람회는 체험박람회, 참여박람회, 비즈니스박람회라는 목표하에 전시면적 15,250제곱미터에 15개국 178여개업체가 600부스 규모로 열리게 된다. 출품대상품목은 축산기자재 및 시설, 배합사료, 동물약품, 생명공학 제품, 축산물 위생 및 가공시설, 축산물 및 가공식품, 가축분뇨 자원화 처리시설, 종축, 리모델링 관련 설비 및 기술, 컨설팅 관련 정보 및 기술 등이 있다. 부대행사로는 축산물 시식회, 축산관련 학술 세미나, 우수전시업체 선발 및 시상, 전국대학생 포스터 경진대회 및 시상, 종축 전시와 경매, 재래닭 및 특수가금 전시, 애완견 및 명견전시, 돼지달리기 및 사진찍기 등이 개최된다. 박람회 참관객은 외국인 바이어 1,000명을 포함하여 10만명에 이를 것으로 추정하고 있다. 학술행사는 박람회 기간 동안 엑스포과학기념관과 대전전시관 세미나실에서 양계세미나, 축산기자재세미나, 축산기술세미나, 양돈포럼, 낙농세미나, 한우세미나, 양돈세미나가 열리게 된다.

Evaluation of Sanitation Management Performance within School Foodservice Facilities and Utilities in Gyeongbuk Province (일부 경북지역 학교 급식시설.설비 위생관리 수행도 평가)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the performance of sanitation management within school foodservice facilities and utilities in Gyeongbuk province. Data collection was carried out through surveys given to 200 school dietitians from the province. A total of 108 were usable, resulting in a 54.0% response rate. Statistical analyses were done using the SAS package program (version 8.2 for Windows). Of the study population, 58.3% had more than 10 years of work experience, and 64.8% worked in elementary schools. With regard to the style of foodservice system, 47.2% were urban and 46.3% were rural. Also, 89.8% of the school foodservices provided meals once a day. The performance of the sanitation management items of the facilities and utilities used to provide school foodservice was evaluated using a 5-point Likert scale. The average score for the 25 items was 3.35 points. 'HVAC system installed in foodservice establishment' had the lowest average score at 2.20 points. Whereas 'provide adequate storage capacity to allow refrigerating and freezing and an adequate thermometer is installed and temperatures monitored' had the highest average score at 4.19 points. Nine out of the 25 items were lower than the average score. The performance scores of high schools were significantly higher than those of elementary schools or middle schools for 'window materials are provided that are not liable to break' (p<0.001). The performance scores for urban style foodservices were significantly lower than for rural foodservices for 'floor of kitchen is constructed to maintain a dry system' (p<0.05). In response to questions on kitchen utensils and equipment, significant differences were shown according to the number of meals served per day in 21 out of 56 items, and the style of foodservice system showed significant differences in 14 of the 56 items. Foremost, to make better use of the foodservice facilities and utilities in Gyeongbuk province, immediate improvements should be made for management items in which the degree of performance was below the average score.

Analyzing the Importance and Performance of Sanitation Management within Foodservice Facilities and Utilities (급식시설 설비 위생관리에 대한 중요도-수행도 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the gap in perceived sanitaion management importance-performance for school foodservice facilities and utilities. Questionnaires were delivered to 200 dietitians who are employed in school foodservice. A total of 108 were usable, resulting in an 54.0% response rate. Statistical analyses were performed using the SAS package program(version 8.2 for Windows) for descriptive analysis, t-tests, and importance-performance analysis (IPA). Among the respondents, 58.3% of the dietitians had more than 10 years of work experience, 81.5% were university graduates, and 64.8% worked in elementary schools. Also, 89.8% of the school foodservices provided meals once a day. According to the importance and performance analysis for 25 items, significant differences were found between importance and performance and the importance score was significantly higher than the performance score for all of the items. The results of IPA showed the following areas as improvement priorities: physical separation between the clean areas and the unclean areas to prevent cross-contamination, and proper management of the temperature and humidity within kitchens and food storage facilities. Overall, the IPA results indicated that the items in need of urgent need of improvement will require political support, and above all, continued research. Finally, better models of foodservice facilities and utilities are needed to improve and modernize the operating conditions of these various foodservice establishments.

Developement of a Design Manual for Kitchen Facility in Foodservice Outlets: A Case Study on a Seolleongtang Specialized Restaurant (푸드서비스시설의 주방 설비 산정 매뉴얼 개발: 설렁탕 전문 식당 사례 적용)

  • Concerns regarding work and food safety in foodservice operations are growing. The purpose of the study is to suggest guidelines for designing foodservice facilities, including school foodservices and Korean restaurants. A case of a franchise restaurant specializing in a Korean food item, Seolleongtang, was used to explain the facility design. The contents of the manual included ways to determine space allocation, calculate the application of utilities and the diameters of supply utility pipelines, and suggestions on how to decide on air conditioning equipment. The standards of the American Gas Association and the Japan Foodservice Equipment Association (JFEA) were applied to design the restaurant space. The JFEA standards and knowledge based on experience and statistics were applied to calculate the usage of utilities like fuel and water. The standards of JFEA and the Society of Heating, Air-Conditioning, and Sanitary Engineers of Japan were applied to calculate the diameters of the water supply and drainage pipelines. For the setting of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, three ways to carry out the calculation of effective ventilation were explained, as well as options to dicide the standard parameters of the duct and ventilation fans. This manual can contribute to the design of effective and efficient foodservice facilities and help secure the work safety of foodservice employees thereby ensuring food safety.

Monitoring for Microbiological Quality of Rice Cakes Manufactured by Small-Scale Business in Korea (소규모 가공경영체 떡류의 생산과정에 따른 미생물학적 품질조사를 위한 모니터링)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the microbial contamination level of Korean traditional rice cakes (Garaetteok, Injeolmi, Gyeongdan), as well as manufacturing environment of small-sized businesses in Korea. The contamination levels of total aerobic bacteria, coliforms, and Bacillus cereus in raw materials were 3.76-4.48, 2.21-4.14, and 1.02-1.15 log CFU/g respectively. On the other hand, Escherichia coli was not found. It has been found that the contamination level of total aerobic bacteria, coliforms, and B. cereus in the raw material decreased after the washing process, but it increased again during the soaking and grinding process. However, after the steaming stage, the contamination level increased again during the molding and cooling process, suggesting the need to take cautions in managing cooling water and molded rice cakes in the process. These results suggest that the safe management of cooling water and taking cautions in the drying process after steaming of rice cakes are necessary for controlling cross-contamination. No E. coli was detected during the manufacturing process involving all tested rice cakes. The microbial contamination level of manufacturing environment such as rice grinder and rice cake forming machine was high. Therefore, in terms of food safety strategy, it is necessary to consider introducing systematic cleansing and disinfection procedure to processing equipment and environment for the sake of reducing microbiological risks.

Estimation of fire Experiment Prediction by Utility Tunnels Fire Experiment and Simulation (지하공동구 화재 실험 및 시뮬레이션에 의한 화재 설칠 예측 평가)

  • The utility tunnels are the important facility as a mainstay of country because of the latest communication developments. However, the utilities tunnel is difficult to deal with in case of a fire accident. When a cable burns, the black smoke containing poisonous gas will be reduced. This black smoke goes into the tunnel, and makes it difficult to extinguish the fire. Therefore, when there was a fire in the utility tunnel, the central nerves of the country had been paralyzed, such as property damage, communication interruption, in addition to inconvenience for people. This paper is based on the fire occurred in the past, and reenacting the fire by making the real utilities tunnel model. The aim of this paper is the scientific analysis of the character image of the fire, and the verification of each fire protection system whether it works well after process of setting up a fire protection system in the utilities tunnel at a constant temperature. The fire experiment was equipped with the linear heat detector, the fire door, the connection water spray system and the ventilation system in the utilities tunnel. Fixed portion of an electric power supply cable was coated with a fire retardant coating, and a heating tube was covered with a fireproof. The result showed that the highest temperature was $932^{\circ}c$ and the linear heat detector was working at the constant temperature, and it pointed at the place of the fire on the receiving board, and Fixed portion of the electric power supply cable coated with the fire retardant coating did not work as the fireproof. The heating tube was covered with the fireproof about 30 minutes.

Evaluation of Oven Utilization Effects at School Foodservice Facilities in Daegu and Gyeongbuk Province (대구·경북지역 학교급식소 오븐 사용 효과 평가)

  • The objectives of this study were to gain an overview of practices and effect evaluation of oven utilization at school foodservice facilities in Daegu and Gyeongbuk province. Out of 147 dieticians, who responded for questionnaires, 44 dieticians used the oven and 103 dieticians did not use the oven. All statistical analyses were conducted with the SPSS 14.0 statistical software program. With regard to the style of foodservice system, 74.4% were urban, 23.3% were rural, and 2.3% were remote country. Also, 23.3% of school foodservices produced meals by batch cooking. According to the results of the expected effect and using effect analysis for 27 items, the average of evaluation score about expected effect was 1.64 points and that of using effect was 1.61 points. Both expected effect and using effect had higher scores than average points in 13 items out of 27 items. Using effect had higher scores than expected effect in 4 items. In conclusion, using ovens could help to increase foodservice satisfaction of students at school foodservice, because it can improve the various cooking methods and the food safety management. Therefore, it is important to modernize and automate cooking equipment for quality improvement of school foodservice operations.

Microbiological Hazard Analysis for HACCP System Application to Vinegared Pickle Radishes (식초절임 무의 HACCP 시스템 적용을 위한 미생물학적 위해 분석)

  • This study has been performed for 150 days from February 1 - June 31, 2012 aiming at analyzing biologically hazardous factors in order to develop HACCP system for the vinegared pickle radishes. A process chart was prepared as shown on Fig. 1 by referring to manufacturing process of manufacturer of general vinegared pickle radishes regarding process of raw agricultural products of vinegared pickle radishes, used water, warehousing of additives and packing material, storage, careful selection, washing, peeling off, cutting, sorting out, stuffing (filling), internal packing, metal detection, external packing, storage and consignment (delivery). As a result of measuring Coliform group, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp., Bacillus cereus, Listeria Monocytogenes, E. coli O157:H7, Clostridium perfringens, Yeast and Mold before and after washing raw radishes, Bacillus cereus was $5.00{\times}10$ CFU/g before washing but it was not detected after washing and Yeast and Mold was $3.80{\times}10^2$ CFU/g before washing but it was reduced to 10 CFU/g after washing and other pathogenic bacteria was not detected. As a result of testing microorganism variation depending on pH (2-5) of seasoning fluid (condiment), pH 3-4 was determined as pH of seasoning fluid as all the bacteria was not detected in pH3-4. As a result of testing air-borne bacteria (number of general bacteria, colon bacillus, fungus) depending on each workplace, number of microorganism of internal packing room, seasoning fluid processing room, washing room and storage room was detected to be 10 CFU/Plate, 2 CFU/Plate, 60 CFU/Plate and 20 CFU/Plate, respectively. As a result of testing palm condition of workers, as number of general bacteria and colon bacillus was represented to be high as 346 $CFU/Cm^2$ and 23 $CFU/Cm^2$, respectively, an education and training for individual sanitation control was considered to be required. As a result of inspecting surface pollution level of manufacturing facility and devices, colon bacillus was not detected in all the specimen but general bacteria was most dominantly detected in PP Packing machine and Siuping machine (PE Bulk) as $4.2{\times}10^3CFU/Cm^2$, $2.6{\times}10^3CFU/Cm^2$, respectively. As a result of analyzing above hazardous factors, processing process of seasoning fluid where pathogenic bacteria may be prevented, reduced or removed is required to be controlled by CCP-B (Biological) and threshold level (critical control point) was set at pH 3-4. Therefore, it is considered that thorough HACCP control plan including control criteria (point) of seasoning fluid processing process, countermeasures in case of its deviation, its verification method, education/training and record control would be required.
