The amount of online scholarly information rapidly expands in numerous resources, while user behavior demands single search box interface like Google Scholar. Despite scholarly values of e-resources libraries provide, users consider Google Scholar as the most efficient research tool attracted by its speed, simplicity, ease of use, and convenience. Characteristics of Metasearch System compared with Google Scholar are analyzed from perspectives of the interface and e-resource. Based on usage statistics of Metasearch System along with a link resolver in one academic library, e-resource accessibility patterns and information seeking behaviors of subject-specific areas are investigated for electronic information services.

The purpose of this study is to review the characteristics of a web-based question-answer service and to analyze the information needs and use behavior of the service for a more efficient question-answer service plan. On the basis of the findings, this study makes suggestions for the question-answer service in respect of reinforcing the effectiveness of information itself and the efficiency of question-answer services. The speciality. accuracy. and specificity including the variety of themes should be improved for more effective information. Also. interactivity. readiness. and convenience should be improved for a more efficient service.

The main difference between web searching and traditional searching is that the web provides and supports multimedia searching. This study aims to investigate the multimedia searching behavior of users of NAVER, a major Korean search portal. In conducting this study, the query logs and click logs of a unified search service were analyzed. The results of this study show that among the multimedia queries submitted by users, audio searches are the dominant media type, followed similarly by video and image searches. On the other hand, among the multimedia documents clicked on, video is the most popular collection type followed by image and audio collections. Entertainment is the most popular topic in both multimedia queries and clicks. The results of this study can be implemented for the portal's development of multimedia content and searching algorithms.

정보환경의 변화에 따라 도서관과 웹 검색엔진의 차별성이 있음에도 불구하고 이용자들은 인터넷의 자원과 학술데이터베이스의 자원을 혼동하고 있다. 특히 구글스칼라가 갖는 검색속도와 조작의 편의성이라는 장점에 따라 데이터베이스의 학술적 가치에도 불구하고 구글스칼라를 가장 많이 이용하고 있다. 이 연구에서는 구글스칼라가 갖는 장점을 반영한 메타서치시스템의 특성과 가치를 조사하였다. 조사 대상은 메타서치시스템이 갖는 인터페이스 측면과 전자정보원 측면에서 비교 분석하였다. 이러한 새로운 검색채널로써 메타서치시스템을 이용하는 기관의 이용통계를 분석하여, 이를 바탕으로 구글스칼라와 같은 웹 검색엔진이 갖는 이용자선호가치를 수용하는 상황에서 이용자 이용행태 패턴과 주제별 전자정보 탐색 행위 등을 조사하였다.

While numerous studies have suggested the significance of uncertainty during the process of information-seeking, less research has investigated user uncertainty in the actual search process using a real system. This study investigated user perceptions of uncertainty in the process of the selection of Web search terms in the real information-seeking process. The subjects at the doctoral or post-doctoral level were limited to the discipline of science in order to understand user perceptions in this field. The findings revealed various dimensions, types, and incidents of uncertainty. The typology of uncertainty facilitated an understanding of the subjects' information-seeking context by identifying various aspects of the context that constituted the subjects' uncertainty The identification of two principal origins of uncertainty based on the different types of uncertainty generated implications to improve information systems and services.

The use of tagging to describes web documents in the form of keyword has experienced rising popularity among various web services. Tagging also plays an important role in collaborative bookmarking services which can be regarded as an online favorite bookmark service. Tags which are created by users make it easier to search other users' bookmarks as well as user's own bookmarks. In this paper we analyze usage patterns of collaborative tagging for exploring factors influencing the number of tags in web documents and users. We discovered that user's characteristics have more effect on the tags than the web documents' characteristics. Moreover, leading users contribute to make a variety of tag than following users. Our study implies that more knowledge can be created through the incentives for leading user in order to improve the service quality of tagging service.

본 동향은 최근 각광을 받고 있는 소셜 네트워크 서비스 기술과 관련하여 현재 사용자에게 제공되고 있는 서비스와 진행되고 있는 연구 분야 전반에 걸쳐 소개한다. 소셜 관계를 제공하는 역할인지, 소셜 관계를 사용하는 역할인지에 따라 서비스의 행태를 나눠 기술하고 그러한 서비스를 제공하기 위해 필요한 대표적인 기술 분야로 소셜 네트워크 분석, 소셜 미디어, 시맨틱 소셜 웹, 소셜 검색에 관한 연구 개요를 설명한다. 마지막으로 소셜 네트워크 서비스의 폭발적인 성장에 기여한 스마트폰과 관련하여, 모바일 소셜 네트워크 서비스 동향을 살펴본다.

This study focuses on the user centered interface design of an information retrieval system. Users do not tend to take advantage of powerful retrieval functions of an information retrieval system unless its interface is user friendly and easy to use. The actual interface design case of the ELSA information retrieval system is reviewed in terms of design concepts and its applicable concrete designs for constructing an user centered interface.

Among the various methods for identifying users's information needs, Log analysis methods can realistically reflect the users' actual search behavior and analyze the overall usage of most users. Based on the large quantity of query log big data obtained through the portal service of the National Archives of Korea, this study conducted an analysis by the information type and search result type in order to identify the users' information needs. The Query log used in analysis were based on 1,571,547 query data collected over a total of 141 months from 2007 to December 2018, when the National Archives of Korea provided search services via the web. Furthermore, based on the analysis results, improvement methods were proposed to improve user search satisfaction. The results of this study could actually be used to improve and upgrade the National Archives of Korea search service.

In this paper, for the evaluation of the ease of a particular Web site (www.appbelt.net), insert the log tracking code for Google Analytics in a page of the Web site to collect behavioral data of visitor and has studied the improvement measures for the problems of the Web site, after the evaluation of the overall quality of the Web site through the evaluation of Coolcheck. These findings set the target value of the company's priority (importance) companies want to influence the direction of the business judgment are set up correctly, and the user's needs and behavior will be appropriate for the service seems to help improvement.
