Synthesis and Structure of Nickel(II) Complex with N-Benzylisonitrosoacetylacetone Imine (N-Benzylisonitrosoacetylacetone Imine Ni(II) 착물의 합성 및 구조)

  • A nickel(Ⅱ) complex, Ni(IAA-NBz) (IAA-NBz') with ligand, N-benzylisonitrosoacetyl acetone imine (H-IAA-NBz) has been synthesized. This complex is very stable at room temperature and has cis-form and trans-form isomers. The ratio of nickel (Ⅱ) ion and ligand combined is 1 : 2. The elemental analysis, ir, nmr. electronic spectra and mass spectra have been studied. It is suggested from these studies that the isonitroso group of one ligand, H-IAA-NBz coordinates to nickel(Ⅱ)ion through the nitrogen atom to form five-membered ring, while that of the other ligand, H-IAA-NBz coordinates to nickel (Ⅱ) ion through the oxygen atom to form six-membered ring in square-planar complex.

  • We investigate the concurrent solution of differential equations by the waveform relaxation (WR) method, an iterative method for analyzing linear and nonlinear dynamical systems in the time do-main. The method, at each iteration, decomposes the dynamical system into several subsystems, each of which is analyzed for the entire given time interval. The method, when efficiently implemented, results in algorithms with a highly parallelizable concurrent fraction. In this paper, the waveform relaxation method is introduced and applied to two types of reactor dynamics problems. It is concluded that the U method can be applied to reactor dynamics equations, but that its parallel performance on the KMRR dynamics is only modest.

  • A reactor pressure vessel, which contains fuel assemblies and reactor vessel internals, has the thermal stress resulting from the cool-down and heat-up of the vessel wall in combination with the pressure stress from system pressure resulting in large stresses. The combination of the pressure stress and thermal stress along with a decrease in fracture toughness may cause through-wall propagation of a relatively small crack. Therefore, it is necessary to define the relations between operating pressure and temperature during cool-down and heat-up. In this study, theory of fracture mechanics for a pressure/temperature limit curve is investigated and a numerical procedure for generating it is developed. Plant-specific limit curves for the Kori unit 1 plant, the oldest nuclear power plant in Korea, have been obtained for several cooling and heating rates and their results are discussed.

Structure Analysis of TiO Film on the MgO(001) Surface by Time-Of-Flight Impact-Collision Ion Scattering Spectroscopy (비행시간형 직층돌 이온산란 분광법을 사용한 MgO(001) 면에 성장된 TiO막의 구조해석)

  • Time-of-flight impact-collision ion scattering spectroscopy (TOF-ICISS) was applied to study the geometrical structure of epitaxially grown TiO layers on a MgO(001) surface. The hetero-epitaxial TiO layer was deposited by thermal evaporation of titanium onto the MgO(001) surface and subsequent exposure to oxygen at 400℃. The well-ordered TiO structure was confirmed with the 1×1 RHEED pattern. TOF-ICISS results revealed that the TiO layer was formed at the on-top sites of the MgO(001) substrate and that the lateral lattice constant of TiO layer was the same as that of the MgO substrate. The surface of the deposited epitaxial TiO layer was smooth without the three dimensional islands.

  • We have studied electronic and magnetic structure of cubane-type Mn4 cluster using OpenMX method based on density functional method. The calculated density of states shows that the octahedron of O atoms split $e_g$ and $t_{2g}$ energy levels like bulk MnO with cubic structure. Total energy with antiferromagnetic spin configuration is lower than those of other spin configurations because of super exchange interaction. Calculated exchange interaction J between Mn atoms with anti-parallel spin is larger than between Mn atoms with parallel spin.

  • An analysis for the gamma radiation fields in the research reactor MAPLE-X10 facility has been peformed under the assumption of partial loss of reactor and service pool water to assess the safety from the view point of design. Four photon source terms considered in the analysis were calculated using the ORIGEN-S code. Gamma dose rate calculations over the reactor and service pools during the water-loss accident conditions were performed using QAD-CG code. MCNP code (Monte Carlo Neuron and Photon Transport code), also, was used to assess the scattered radiation fields away from the pools, which is appropriate for calculating the scattered photon dose rates outside of the solid angle subtended by the source and pool walls.

  • We have observed the nonlinear magneto-optic effect(NMOE) based on atomic coherence in $^{87}$ Rb D$_1$-line using the Rb vapor cell containing 50 Torr of Ne. The width of the NMOE signal was measured to be 2$\pi$${\times}$464 Hz, when the peak-to-peak B-field variation was 1 mGauss. The result of this work may be applied to a high-sensitivity magnetometer.

  • Accurate sets of electron collision cross sections and the electron transport coefficients for atoms and molecules are necessary for quantitative understanding of plasma phenomena Kr and Xe atom are used in many industrial applications, such as in PDP and fluorescent induction lamps(FILs). Therefore, we analysed and calculated the electron transport coefficients, the electron drift velocity W, the longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficient $ND_L$ and $ND_T$, and the ionization coefficient $\alpha$/N in pure Kr and Xe gases over the wide E/N range from 0.001 to 500[Td] at 1[Torr] by two-tenn approximation of the Boltzmann equation.

  • 실리콘 산화막 위에 구리 확산 방지막으로서 W-N 박막을 $NH_3$ 펄스 플라즈마를 이용한 원자층 증착방법으로 형성하였다. 플라즈마 원자층 증착방법 (PPALD)은 일반적인 원자층 증착방법(ALD)의 성장 기구를 그대로 따라 간다. 그러나 일반적인 ALD 방법에 의해 증착한 W-N 박막에 비해 PPALD 방법으로 증착한 W-N 박막은 F 함유량과 비저항이 감소하였고 열적 안정성에 대한 특성도 향상되었다. 또한 $WF_6$ 가스는 실리콘 산화막과 반응을 하지 않기 때문에 $WF_6$ 가스와 $NH_3$ 가스를 사용해서 ALD 증착방법으로 실리콘 산화막 위에 W-N 박막을 증착하기 어려운 문제점(8,9)을 $NH_3$ 반응종으로 실리콘 산화막 표면을 먼저 변형시켜 $WF_6$ 가스가 산화막과 반응을 할 수 있게 함으로써 ALD 방법으로 W-N 박막을 실리콘 산화막 위에 증착 할 수 있었다.

Characteristics of Cation Selectivity for Equilibrium and Column Cation Exchanges (평형 및 칼럼교환에서 양이온 선택도 특성)

  • Ion exchange is the most reliable process to remove the ionic impurities and the economic operation. ion exchange is widely used in water and wastewater treatment, especially softening and demineralization. ion selectivity depends on the hydrated radius, charge of ions and concentration. The objective of this study was to determine the selectivity order of cations with equilibrium and column ion exchanges and to investigate the effect of the background anion on selectivity. Cation selectivity increases with decreasing concentration and increasing charge ( $H^+$ < $K^+$ << $Cu^{2+}$ < $Co^{2+}$ < TEX>$Ca^{2+}$ << $Ce^{3+}$)in equilibrium and column cation adsorptions.
