Smart Touch Screen Output System Based on ICT (ICT 기반 스마트 멀티터치 영상 출력 시스템)

  • The purpose of this paper is to implement a smart touch image output system based on ICT. The image output system here uses a pen-touch type screen coordinate recognition type to minimize the error because there is a difference in the resolution of the motion pattern between the image screen and the actual image using the image sensing reaction sensor. To do so, we built a smart image output system that can output image data by using ICT based technology and can be operated remotely without a PC, laptop, monitor, keyboard and mouse by using wireless method and smart touch function instead of the existing wired method. The result of this study is that the image can be output only if there is a wall, and the pen can be operated on the output image without the screen.

  • Nowadays, recognizing human activities is an important subject; it is exploited widely and applied to many fields in real-life, especially in health care and context aware application. Research achievements are mainly focused on activities of daily living which are useful for suggesting advises to health care applications. Falling event is one of the biggest risks to the health and well-being of the elderly especially in independent living because falling accidents may be caused from heart attack. Recognizing this activity still remains in difficult research area. Many systems equipped wearable sensors have been proposed but they are not useful if users forget to wear the clothes or lack ability to adapt themselves to mobile systems without specific wearable sensors. In this paper, we develop a novel method based on analyzing the change of acceleration, orientation when the fall occurs and measure their similarity to featured fall patterns. In this study, we recruit five volunteers in our experiment including various fall categories. The results are effective for recognizing fall activity. Our system is implemented on G1 smart phone which are already plugged accelerometer and orientation sensors. The popular phone is used to get data from accelerometer and results showthe feasibility of our method and significant contribution to fall detection.

  • Recently, as the performance of smart phones has advanced and their distribution has increased, various functions in existing devices are accumulated. In particular, functions in smart devices have matured through improvement of diverse sensors. Various applications with the development of smart phones get fleshed out. As a result, services from applications promoting physical activity in users have gotten attention from the public. However, these services are about diet alone, and because these have no exercise motion recognition capability to detect movement in the correct position, the user has difficulty obtaining the benefits of exercise. In this paper, we develop exercise motion-recognition software that can sense the user's motion using a sensor built into a smart phone. In addition, we implement a system to offer exercise with friends who are connected via web server. The exercise motion recognition utilizes a Kalman filter algorithm to correct the user's motion data, and compared to data that exist in sampling, determines whether the user moves in the correct position by using a DTW algorithm.

  • In wireless sensor networks, two methods have been generally used to track continuously moving object: a user query-based method and a periodic report-based method. Although the former method generates more overhead as a result of the user queries, the former one is also an energy-efficient method that does not transfer unnecessary information. For the user query-based method, a virtual tree that consist of sensor nodes is used to perform the user query and the sensor reporting. The tree stores the information of the mobile objects, and the stored information triggers a report b the user query. However, in case of a fast-moving object, the tracking accuracy decreases as a result of the time delay of the end-to-end repeated query. In order to solve this problem, we propose a query-relay method that reduces the time delay for mobile object tracking. In the proposed method, the nodes in the tree relay the query to adjacent nodes according to the movement of mobile object that is tracked. When the query messages are relayed. The end-to-end querying time delay is reduced. and a simulation shows that our method is superior to existing ones in terms of tracking accuracy.

Evolutionary Optimization of Neurocontroller for Physically Simulated Compliant-Wing Ornithopter

  • This paper presents a novel evolutionary framework for optimizing a bio-inspired fully dynamic neurocontroller for the maneuverable flapping flight of a simulated bird-sized ornithopter robot which takes advantage of the morphological computation and mechansensory feedback to improve flight stability. In order to cope with the difficulty of generating robust flapping flight and its maneuver, the wing of robot is modelled as a series of sub-plates joined by passive torsional springs, which implements the simplified version of feathers attached to the forearm skeleton. The neural controller is designed to have a bilaterally symmetric structure which consists of two fully connected neural network modules receiving mirrored sensory inputs from a series of flight navigation sensors as well as feather mechanosensors to let them participate in pattern generation. The synergy of wing compliance and its sensory reflexes gives a possibility that the robot can feel and exploit aerodynamic forces on its wings to potentially contribute to the agility and stability during flight. The evolved robot exhibited target-following flight maneuver using asymmetric wing movements as well as its tail, showing robustness to external aerodynamic disturbances.

A Development of Multi-Sensors LED Streetlight Lighting Control System Based on RTOS (RTOS 기반의 다중센서 LED 가로등 점등제어 시스템 설계)

  • In this paper, we proposed a RTOS-based lighting control system to improve energy efficiency. This proposed system, real time process was designed to the specified division of the LED streetlight control module for the RTOS-based lighting control into three different tasks. The first task transmits LED lighting signal by measuring illuminance, and the second task transmits motion detecting signal using motion detector. In the third task, lighting control to LED was designed through passed control signal from other tasks The execution status was examined ports that are directly to the ATmega128 MCU for the verification of the system, and illuminance distribution and operating conditions were verified through LED street field test. The proposed RTOS-based lighting control system has brought improving system performance and also facilitate an addition of other functions, and it was possible to optimize energy saving by intelligent lighting pattern control.

Study on the Mechanism of Manifestation of Ecological Toxicity in Heavy Metal Contaminated Soil Using the Sensing System of Earthworm Movement (지렁이 움직임 감지 시스템을 이용한 중금속 오염 토양의 생태독성 발현 메커니즘에 대한 연구)

  • Natural soil was artificially contaminated with heavy metals (Cd, Pb, and Zn), and the movement of earthworm was characterized in real time using the ViSSET system composed of vibration sensor and the other components. The manifestation mechanism of ecological toxicity of heavy metals was interpreted based on the accumulative frequency of earthworm movement obtained from the real-time monitoring as well as the conventional indices of earthworm behavior, such as the change in body weight before and after tests and biocumulative concentrations of each contaminant. The results showed the difference in the earthworm movement according to the species of heavy metal contaminants. In the case of Cd, the earthworm movement was decreased with increasing its concentration and then tended to be increased. The activity of earthworm was severely increased with increasing Pb concentration, but the movement of earthworm was gradually decreased with increasing Zn concentration. The body weight of earthworm was proved to be greatly decreased in the Zn-contaminated soil, but it was similarly decreased in Cd- and Pb-contaminated soils. The bioaccumulation factor (BAF) was higher in the sequence of Cd > Zn > Pb, and particularly the biocumulative concentration of Pb did not show a clear tendency according to the Pb concentrations in soil. It was speculated that Cd is accumulated as a metallothionein-bound form in the interior of earthworm for a long time. In particular, Cd has a bad influence on the earthworm through the critical effect at its higher concentrations. Pb was likely to reveal its ecotoxicity via skin irritation or injury of sensory organs rather than ingestion pathway. The ecotoxicity of Zn seemed to be manifested by damaging the cell membranes of digestive organs or inordinately activating metabolism. Based on the results of real-time monitoring of earthworm movement, the half maximal effective concentration (EC50) of Pb was estimated to be 751.2 mg/kg, and it was similar to previously-reported ones. The study confirmed that if the conventional indices of earthworm behavior are combined with the results of newly-proposed method, the mechanism of toxicity manifestation of heavy metal contaminants in soils is more clearly interpreted.

A Tracking Algorithm to Certain People Using Recognition of Face and Cloth Color and Motion Analysis with Moving Energy in CCTV (폐쇄회로 카메라에서 운동에너지를 이용한 모션인식과 의상색상 및 얼굴인식을 통한 특정인 추적 알고리즘)

  • It is well known that the tracking a certain person is a vary needed technic in the humanoid robot. In robot technic, we should consider three aspects that is cloth color matching, face recognition and motion analysis. Because a robot technic use some sensors, it is many different with the robot technic to track a certain person through the CCTV images. A system speed should be fast in CCTV images, hence we must have small calculation numbers. We need the statistical variable for color matching and we adapt the eigen-face for face recognition to speed up the system. In this situation, motion analysis have to added for the propose of the efficient detecting system. But, in many motion analysis systems, the speed and the recognition rate is low because the system operates on the all image area. In this paper, we use the moving energy only on the face area which is searched when the face recognition is processed, since the moving energy has low calculation numbers. When the proposed algorithm has been compared with Girondel, V. et al's method for experiment, we obtained same recognition rate as Girondel, V., the speed of the proposed algorithm was the more faster. When the LDA has been used, the speed was same and the recognition rate was better than Girondel, V.'s method, consequently the proposed algorithm is more efficient for tracking a certain person.
