Geomorphic development of the Jeogchung·Chogye Basin and inner alluvial fan, Hapcheon, South Korea (합천 적중·초계분지와 분지 내 선상지 지형발달)

  • The Jeogchung Chogye Basin shows perfect basin formation surrounded with divides, excluding outlet where Sannae River combining various small rivers escapes the basin. High mountains distribute at southwestern, southern and southeastern divides of the basin consisting of hornfels, while hilly mountains are found at northern divide consisting of sedimentary rock. Alluvial fans and flood plains occupy bottom of the basin. While extensive alluvial fans are found at the front of southern divide where rivers with large drainage areas rise, alluvial fans toward eastern and western divides become small due to low elevation of divides. Flood deposits by Hwang River are attributed to development for most of flood plains at northern part of the basin. The basin seems to be developed not by differential erosion or meteorite impact, but by bedrock weathering along lineament or fault lines by ground motion.

Synthesis of Electrolyte Films for Low-Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells by Sol-Gel Coating and Their Characteristics (졸-겔 코팅에 의한 저온형 고체산화물 연료저지용 전해질막의 합성 및 특성)

  • Characteristics of composite electrolytes which were prepared by coating a thin film of YSZ (yttria sta-bilized zirconia : (ZrO2)0.92 (Y2O3)0.08) on YDC (yttria doped ceria : Ce0.8Y0.2O1.9) with mixed conductivity have been investigated in order to develop the low-temperature solid oxide fuel cell. The thickness (t) of spin-coated YSZ thin films after the heat-treatment at 600$^{\circ}C$ was increased proportionally to the sol con-centrations (C) while the decrease in its thickness with the spin rate ($\omega$) could be expressed in the e-quation of ln t=9.49-0.53 ln $\omega$(0.99mol//s sol conc.) When the sol concentration and the spin rate being less than 0.99 mol/l and higher than 1000 rpm respectively reliable YSZ/YDC composite electrolytes could be obtained by multi-coating although several micro-cracks were observed in singly coated YSZ film surfaces. The dense YSZ film with a 1$\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness was prepared by coating of 0.99 mol/l YSZ sol five-times at 2000 rpm followed by heat-treatment at 1400$^{\circ}C$ for 2h, The adhesion between YSZ film and YDC substrate was found to be very good. The open circuit voltages of H2/O2 single cell with YSZ/YDC composite electrolytes were 0.79∼0.82 V at 800$^{\circ}C$ and 0.75∼0.77V at 900$^{\circ}C$ The open circuit voltage was inversely proportioned to the thickness ratio of YSZ thin film (1$\mu\textrm{m}$) to YDC substrate(0.28-2.22 mm)

Mineral Chemistry of Talc from Different Origins in the Dongyang Talc Deposit (동양활석광상에서 산출되는 서로 다른 기원의 활석에 대한 광물화학)

  • Mineral chemistry of talc from the Dongyang talc deposits was studied to characterize the differences between dolomite-origin talc (talc I) and tremolite-origin talc (talc II). Average iron and aluminum contents are higher in talc II, 2.18 wt% FeO and 0.31 wt% $Al_2$O$_3$), than in talc I, 1.48 wt% FeO and 0.08 wt% $Al_2$O$_3$). Consistently lower Mg/(Mg+Fe+Mn) ratios and higher AI concentrations with uniform values of talc II compared to talc I seem to reflect the compositional differences of the original materials, tremolite and dolomite, respectively. Relative enrichment of Al as well as Fe in talc II compared to tremolite can be attributed to their immobile behaviors during alteration process and the rapid diffusion of hydrothermal fluids, which can accelerate instantaneous nucleation with immaturity growth of talc II. Increase in the concentrations of talc II can lower the ore grade by increasing concentrations of impure components such as AI and Fe, and by abundant presence of tremolite as well.

  • This study was designed, firstly, to determine the mineralogical and chemical characteristics of some rock aggregates, secondly, to offer interrelationships between those and mechanical properties, and thirdly, to evaluate their suitability for concrete aggregates. Mineralogical, chemical, physical and mechanical characteristics of the studied rock aggregates indicate that granite from BJ quarry and banded gneisses from KB. HI and SK quarry, and quartzite from the Hongcheon riverside are not proper to cement concrete aggregates because of quartz's potential possibility of alkali-silica reaction, and limestone in SY quarry is proper to asphalt concrete aggregates owing to dolomite causing alkali-carbonate reaction. Augen gneiss and diorite from KB and SA quarry, respectively, are to be not suitable for concrete aggregates because of biotite contents, but augen gneiss in HI quarry and gneisses in Hongcheon riverside are proper to concrete aggregates because of mineralogical and mechanical characteristics.

Algorithm for Detecting PSD Boundary Invasion in Subway PSD using Image Processing (영상처리를 이용한 지하철 스크린 도어의 경계선 침범인식 알고리듬 연구)

  • This paper propose image processing algorithm to prevent safety accidents near by subway platform screen door(PSD). First, edges of the subway PSD images are detected and the boundary line between PSD and subway platform is detected to decide people's approach to the PSD using Hough transform. To do this, we draw the boundary line between the PSD and platform, to detect the boundary line and to decide the people's approach to the detected line is completely connected or not. Generally, edge is the basic characteristic of image; thus, edge detection is very important in image processing applications and computer vision area. The conventional edge detection methods such as Roberts, Sobel, Prewitt, and Laplacian etc, which are using a fixed value of mask, and morphological gradient from the structuring element of view and Canny edge detector are widely used. In this paper, we propose the detection algorithm about the people's approach to the subway PSD to prevent the safety accidents by using Canny edge detector and Hough transform and the computer simulation shows the results.

  • A guard lamp system has been installed at the PV positive center, located at Gwangju in Korea. Digital environment that is represented to internet is displacing business way of industry and business achievement way with the fast speed being giving great change on life whole, improve existence business process utilizing internet and Web connection technology, information superhighway to tradition industrialist manufacture and e-transformation's propulsion that wish to maximize productivity and administration efficiency is spread vigorously. In this paper, we wish to accomplish generation equipment's heighten stability and believability through remote monitoring and control of guard lamp system. This paper describes the design of the monitoring system for the sensing data and indirect controlling of the guard lamp system. Most of the conventional monitoring systems depend on the special hardware and software. The essential design of monitoring system is to provide the convenience for the user and the portability for the system. In order for the system to fulfill its requirements, it was designed using Labview GUI facility based on the Windows 2000 environment of IBM PC compatible and Add-oncard based on the TCP/IP Protocol. Advantage of the monitoring system are a personnel expenses curtailment effect, of the place restriction and unmanned system of the generationplants, etc..

Intrathecal Catheter and Subcutaneous Access Port Implantation in Pain Management for Terminal Cancer Patient - A case report - (말기암 환자의 통증치료를 위한 지주막하강내 카테터 거치와 피하 이식형 약제 주입기 삽입 - 증례보고 -)

  • It is important to treat cancer-related pain in cancer patients to ensure the life quality of the patient, as well as to improve their life span. It has been estimated that at least 5% of cancer patients have pain refractory to medical treatment. Therefore, the need for epidural or intrathecal analgesia with opioids and local anesthetics is indicated if systemic treatment has failed. Intrathecal catheter placement and implantation of the injection port for administration of opioids and local anesthetics may improve pain relief in patients who are unresponsive to epidural routes. Although intrathecal implantation has several complications, similar infection rates have been reported between intrathecal and epidural administration. In addition, intrathecal administration showed better outcomes, including improved pain control, lowered daily doses, and an improvement in the level of drowsiness experienced when compared to epidural administration. We report here a case in which a terminal cancer patient was treated using an intrathecal catheter and subcutaneous port. The patient had cancer-related pain that could not be controlled by epidural opioid administration. Based on the results presented here, we suggest that intrathecal implantation is a feasible long term pain management method for intractable cancer pain patients.

The Effects of the Seed Inoculation, Pelleting, and Liming on the Nodulation and Growth of Lucerne(Medicago sativa L.) (황갈색 고원 토양에 있어 근류균 접종, pellleting 및 석회시용이 Lucerne(Medicago sativa L.)의 근류형성 및 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • To investigate the effects of seed treatments and liming on nodulation and growth of lucerne(Medicago sativa L.) in an upland yellow-brown earth in N.Z. the five levels of seed treatments(Uninoculated, Inoculated, Inoculated plus lime pelleted, Inoculated plus 50/50 phosphate/dolmite pelleted, Inoculated plus ta1c pelleted), and 2 levels of lime applications (0, 25kg/10a) were compared and their interactions were observed, and then the following results were obtained. 1. In oder to obtain the effective nodulation of lucerne on acid soil it is usually necessary to apply lime and inoculate the seed. 2. The coating of inoculated lucerne seed with adequate materials will promote the nodulation. 3. The pelleting of lucerne seed may be a of reducing the need for the heavy liming. 4. The finely grounded lime was the best to use origin upland yellow-brown earth. 5. When the seed were not inoculated or pelleted with inferior material, liming is very effective for the nodulation and growth of lucerne. 6. The pelleting seed will reduce the laborious work and expenditure.

국내 석회석의 활용현황

  • 석회석은 우리 나라 광업법 제3조에서 규정한 법정광물로써 백운석, 대리석, 방해석 및 코퀴나 등을 포함하며, 최근 우리 나라 전체 광산물 생산량의 75%를 상회하는 단일광종 최대생산량을 나타내고 있는 광종이다. 이외에도 석회석 광은 여러 가지 통계적으로도 국내 최대임을 나타내는데, 즉, 2001년도 우리 나라 일반광(66종) 등록광구수 5,242개소 중에서 1,494개소를 차지하여 28.5%를 차지하며, 가행광산 수에서도 320개소 중 109개소(34%), 근로자 수에서는 4,291명중에서 2,748명(64%)으로 최대의 규모를 가지고 있다. 실제로 석회석 및 관련제품은 오늘날 화학공업이나 환경산업 등 각종의 산업에 널리 이용되고 있으며, 그의 이용 역사에서도 유구한 역사를 가지고 있다. 즉, 고대 유적분석 결과는 이미 신석기 시대에도 석회 재료가 쓰였을 것으로 보고되고 있으며, 성경(신명기 27장 1~5절)에도 소개되고 있고, 우리 나라에서의 석회 사용의 역사도 동국여지승람(성종16년), 세종실록, 문종실록 등에 석회 산지가 자세히 조사 기록되어 있으며 소성석회의 제조, 사용에 대하여도 기록하고 있다. 이외에도, 그리이스, 로마, 중국 등지의 역사에서는 건축재, 농업, 표백 및 제혁공업등에 사용되었다는 사실이 발견되고 있지만, 석회석의 용도가 크게 증가된 것은 역시 산업혁명 이후 20세기가 시작되면서부터 라고 할 수 있다. 석회석은 국가산업구조 및 인간의 삶의 양식에 따라 그의 용도가 다양하고, 광범위하게 변화하는 만큼, 그의 품질 또한 중요하게 취급되어야 하지만, 우리 나라의 경우에는 아직도 시장규모가 큰 일부용도이외에 사용자의 요구에 부합되는 다양한 품질의 석회제품을 제조하는 데에는 인색하고, 또한 사용자의 대부분은 용도가 명시되어 있는 외국의 제품을 선호하는 경향에 따라 석회석 및 관련제품의 수입량이 감소하지 않고 있다. 최근 우리 나라는 국제통화기금(IMF)이후에, 국내산업을 보호하는 정부의 규제나 지원은 폐지 또는 축소되고, 외국회사의 시장참여에 의한 국제경쟁기반이 약화되고 있는 것도 사실이지만, 고 환율에 의하여 일부제품의 수입은 자제되고, 국내산 대체 방향으로 진행되고 있기 때문에, 안정되고 신뢰할 수 있는 품질의 제품을 제조하는 경우에는 오히려 국내시장의 확장에는 좋은 시기가 될 수도 있다고 판단된다. 이에 본고에서는 최근 국내 석회석 관련제품을 활용하는 사례를 분석하고 향후 유효이용을 도모하는 데에 참고가 되었으면 하는 마음에서 작성하였다.

Formation of Ni-W-P/Cu Electrodes for Silicon Solar Cells by Electroless Deposition (무전해 도금을 이용한 Si 태양전지 Ni-W-P/Cu 전극 형성)

  • Screen printing of commercially available Ag paste is the most widely used method for the front side metallization of Si solar cells. However, the metallization using Ag paste is expensive and needs high temperature annealing for reliable contact. Among many metallization schemes, Ni/Cu/Sn plating is one of the most promising methods due to low contact resistance and mass production, resulting in high efficiency and low production cost. Ni layer serves as a barrier which would prevent copper atoms from diffusion into the silicon substrate. However, Ni based schemes by electroless deposition usually have low thermal stability, and require high annealing process due to phosphorus content in the Ni based films. These problems can be resolved by adding W element in Ni-based film. In this study, Ni-W-P alloys were formed by electroless plating and properties of it such as sheet resistance, resistivity, specific contact resistivity, crystallinity, and morphology were investigated before and after annealing process by means of transmission line method (TLM), 4-point probe, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
