  • Gimlyong-sa temple has played an important role of Buddhist culture in Gyeongsangdo Provinces(嶺南地域) in the late Joseon Dynasty as the 31st head temple(本山) in the Japanese occupation. There are lots of architectural documentary records remained nevertheless, most of cultural heritages are destroyed by fire in 1997. There were 85 articles in five kinds of books which contained historical achievements of Gimlyong-sa temple and hermitages(Daeseongam(大成庵), Hwajangam(華藏庵), Yangjinam(養眞庵), Geum seondae(金仙臺), Dosoram(兜率庵), Myeongjeogam(明寂庵)). It is possible to understand the five situational peculiarities in the 17~19th century. At the first, they were compiled in 1914 to around 1930 by Kwon Sangro(權相老) to clarify the historical facts. Second, confirmed the formation process of the foundation narrative. Third, the meaning of Seolseondang(設禪堂), Manseru(萬歲樓) and Hyangnojeon(香爐殿) were recorded, it is possible to look at the concept of people at that time. Fourth, the great masters portraits were enshrined in hermitages, not in Gimlyong-sa temple. It means that a hermitage is not for only self-discipline or living but assembly of religious orders(門派). Fifth, Chimgye(枕溪), the great Buddhist clergy and carpenter of Gimlyong-sa, was nationwide active worker in 19th century because he was also in a charge of investment manager for construction.

  • the splendid Chinese ship-building technology enjoys a long history and has an important place in the world ship building history. Up to present, the study of ship-building technology focuses on the study of western ship-building technology, so the study of Chinese ship-building technology can remedy this. With the development of society, ship-building technology enjoys a fast development, in Song dynasty (960-1279) the Chinese ship-building technology had developed very much. Its main characteristics are the large size of ships and the rapid increase in number. The Chinese ship-building technology of Song dynasty established basis for thai of Yuan dynasty, thus a study on the Chinese ship-building technology of Song dynasty can help better understand the Chinese ship-building history.

  • The spine loach, Cobitis hankugensis endemic to Korea were collected at the Nokdong River, Unbong-eup, Namwon-si, Jeollabuk-do during June 2007 for study its eggs development and early life history. The eggs were obtained by injecting gonadotropin (LHRH-1) to female and were fertilized by dry method in the laboratory condition. The matured eggs were separative, demersal and light yellowish with $1.29{\pm}0.07mm$ in diameter average. Under $23{\sim}25^{\circ}C$, the eggs were hatched in 45~52 hours after fertilization, and just hatching larvae were $4.5{\pm}0.24mm$ in total length. On 5 days after hatching, they were $6.6{\pm}0.13mm$ in total length and their yolk sacs were completely absorbed. From 25 days after hatching, they became the juvenile stage with $9.0{\pm}0.49mm$ in total length. On the 100 days after hatching, their external forms and band patterns were similar to those of adults with average $27.3{\pm}2.82mm$ in total length.

  • An artificial breeding method was carried out to investigate development of eggs and the early life history of Iksookimia longicorpa. The eggs of the female were obtained by injecting gonadotropin (LHRH) and fertilizingby the dry method in the laboratory. The mature eggs were separate, demersal, light yellowish, and averaged $1.53{\pm}0.07mm$ in diameter. In water temperature of $23{\sim}25^{\circ}C$, the eggs hatched in 50~72 hours after fertilization, and their lengths reached $5.1{\pm}0.23mm$ in total length. On Day 4 after hatching, they averaged $7.1{\pm}0.47mm$ in total length and their yolk sacs were completely absorbed. From 25 days after hatching, they attained a juvenile stage reaching $12.8{\pm}0.49mm$ in total length. On the 100th dayafter hatching, their band patterns and external form were similar to those of adults, and they averaged $38.5{\pm}2.95mm$ in total length.

  • Up to now it has been widely conceived that mariner's compass was introduced to Europe from China via the Arabic people. But the proofs to support the above orthodox dissertation have not been found yet. In general it has been approved that the Chinese used the compass for navigation in the 11th century and European did in the 12th century. During the above period the communication between the Europe and the China was made only by the mediation of the Arabic people. But it is known that the beginning of Arabic people's compass usage was one century later than that of the European. It may raise a historical question about ‘was mariner's compass introduced to Europe from China via the Arabic people\ulcorner’ In this paper the authors tried to prove the simultaneity of the mariner's compass usage by the European with the Chinese by reviewing historical materials and modern researches. The results are as following; The first, there is a strong similarity in the evolving steps of compass appliance of both civilizations, such as from using magnetized and pivoted needle to fixing card thereto. Second, the Chinese and the European started to use the mariner's compass almost at the same time, and they developed it independently.
