Purpose: This study was to identify the quality of life and its related factors in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was utilized. Data were collected using questionnaires from 128 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia who visited an outpatient department at one general hospital in 2016. Data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Results: Mean age of the participant was $67.81{\pm}6.94$. Mean years since diagnosis was $6.41{\pm}5.20$. The mean score of quality of life was $0.82{\pm}0.09$, indicating that QOL was relatively low. Lower urinary tract symptoms (p=.029), anxiety, depression, Activities of daily living were significantly correlated to with quality of life (p<.001). Activities of daily living accounted for 54% (p<.001) of the variance in quality of life as a result of hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Conclusion: The results of the study showed that nursing intervention may improve the quality of life of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia by increasing their Activities of daily living.
Objectives : Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a demyelination disease of central nervous system, presenting a various neurological disorders depending on the lesion. In the view of oriental medicine, MS is similar to Flaccidity-syndrome(痿證). Also, since MS is a chronic disease which repeats the recurrences with periods of remission of the symptoms in between, it may usually be accompanied by depression. However, the etiology, treatment, and cause of recurrence of MS remain unknown, and also, as the recurrences of MS have been repeated, disease burden has been accumulated, which aggravates disorder. This case of MS experienced depression after the patient had been diagnosed as bad consequence based on the past 5 times recurrences of multiple sclerosis. Methods : We saw the causes as vicera and bowels functional disorder which might have come from a poor diet. Thus, we diagnosed this case as dual deficiency of spleen and kidney(脾腎兩虛), stagnant qi transforming into fire(氣鬱化火) and liver-kidney deficiency(肝腎不足) and treated it with Herb medication, acupuncture therapy, and supportive therapy, making the patient better. Results : We have improved the patient's condition to the time before 5th recurrence. Conclusions : This result suggests that our oriental medical treatments was effective on multiple sclerosis with depression.
Burning mouth syndrome(BMS) refers to a chronic orofacial pain disorder usually unaccompanied by mucosal lesions or other clinical signs. Tongue(anterior and lateral border) is found to be the most common site for the burning sensations in the oral cavity, and various oral sites may be affected including hard palate and lips. The etiology of this disorder remains poorly understood, but the various factors might be related with the pathogenesis of the BMS. These factors have been devided into local, systemic and psychological. Recently, there have been increasing reports that the pain of BMS may be neuropathic in origin. The complex and multifactorial etiology of BMS necessitates multidisciplinary approach for the management of these patients. Recently, several studies have reported that oral parafunctional habits could be related the pathogenesis of BMS, and tried to control the symptom of BMS with various methods. We reported the cases who had the symptom of burning mouth syndrome with removable anti-nociceptive appliance in the lower dentition.

They almost had systemic diseases(81.82%). Hypertenstion was the most common disease(22.41%) and diabetes mellitus(17.24%), depression(8.62%), gastritis(8.62%) in turns. 3. In clinical manifestation, temporomandibular disorder was the most frequently complained symptom(33.33%), and soft tissue disease(21.57%), burning mouth syndrome(17.65%), orofacial movement itself(15.69%), diffuse orofacial pain(6명, 11.76%) in turns. 4. Attention-deficit/Hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) is the most common psychiatric disorder of childhood and among the most prevalent chronic health conditions affecting school-aged children. Children with ADHD experience significant functional problems, such as school difficulties, academic underachievement, troublesome interpersonal relationships with family members and peers, and low self-esteem. The most widely used pharmacological treatments for ADHD are psychostimulants, such as methylphenidate and amphetamine salts. These medications provide clinical efficacy by increasing the availability of catecholamines, primarily dopamine, in the frontal lobe of the brain. immediate-release(IR) formulations of sychostimulants were among the most effective psychotrophic medications in the psychopharmacological treatment. However, there are some limitations of IR formulations:the short half-life and duration of efficacy, which result in the need for multiple daily dosing and the poor compliance. These limitations have led to the development of once-daily, extended-release(ER) formulations of methylphenidate and amphetamine salts. However, these ER formulations may not be as immediately helpful to ADHD children due to delayed onset of action and the acute tolerance which is the failure to sustain the efficacy with the same concentration of drug as the initial stage of medication. OROS-methylphenidate(Concerta$^{\circledR}$) given once a day produces an ascending-pattern plasma drug level generated by the osmotically released, timed drug-delivery system. These new formulations of the psychostimulants have been shown to be a useful alternative to old stimulant medications through the evidence by the clinical trials.
This study was performed to evaluate the characteristics of smoking behavior and the effects of smoking on clinical symptoms and level of serum prolactin in schizophrenic patients. Methods : 76 male schizophrenic patients answered the questionnaire about the characteristics of smoking patterns. And patients were assessed by brief psychiatric rating scale(BPRS), positive and negative syndrome scle(PANSS), Hamilton rating scale for depression(HAM-D), assessment for involuntary movement scale(AIMS) and symptom checklist 90 R(SCL-90-R). Serum prolactin levels were measured by enzymeimmunoassay. Results: 1) The frequences of drinking coffee were significantly higher in smokers. The reasons for smoking were to relieve tension, to avoid boredom, due to habit and to do with friends. 80.1% of smokers tried quitting, but smoking was relapsed due to craving and withdrawal symptoms. 2) No significant difference was seen in mean neuropeltic doses, scores of PANSS and AIMS. But as for BPRS, scores of anxiety/depression subscale were significanly lower in smokers. Scores of HAM-D and scores of interpersonal sensitivity and phobia among SCL-90-R were significantly lower. 3) Levels of serum prolactin were significanlty lower in smokers. Conclusion : These findings suggest that in schisophrenia smoking relieves anxiety and depression subjectively But decreased prolactin levels may suggest that the possibility of increased dopamine in CNS.
