Powder synthesis and morphology changes of strontium barium niobate by molten salt method (용융염법에 의한 strontium barium niobate 분말 합성 및 분말의 형상 변화)

  • Strontium barium niobate powders were prepared by NaCl-KCl molten salt, and reaction process and morphology change of strontium barium niobate were investigated as a function of reaction temperature, time, and amount of molten salt. With increasing the reaction temperature and time, the reacted fraction was increased and the morphology of powder was changed from lumpy shape into meedle-like shape. With increasing the amount of molten salt, reacted fraction was increased rapidly, but the morphology of powder was changed from needle-like shape into spherical shape. Strontium barium niobate powder, over 90 % in fraction reacted, was obtained from the reaction conditions at $1000^{\circ}C$ for small flux ratio (=1) and at $650^{\circ}C$ for large flux ratio (=4).

Fabrication and Electrical Properties of High Tc $A_{2}B_{2}O_{7}$ Piezoelectric Ceramics Using the Powders Prepared by the Molten Salt Synthesis Method (용융염합성법에 의한 $A_{2}B_{2}O_{7}$ 고온압전세라믹스의 제작과 전기적특성)

  • Polycrystalline $Sr_{2}(Ta_{1-x}Nbx)_{2}O_{7}$ and $La_{2}Ti_{2}O_{7}$ ceramics having very high Curie temperatures were synthesized by the conventional oxide mixing method (CON) and the molten salt synthesis method (MSS). Physical characteristics and phase relationship of calcined powders, as well as the sintering behavior, the grain-orientation and dielectric properties of sintered ceramics were investigated as a function of composition and firing temperature. The single $A_{2}B_{2}O_{7}$ phase was synthesized by using the MSS method at 100 - $150^{\circ}C$ lower temperature compared to the CON method. As Nb content increased in $Sr_{2}(Ta_{1-x}Nbx)_{2}O_{7}$ ceramics, the Curie temperature and the dielectric constant at Curie temperature were raised, and the sintering behavior and the degree of grain-orientation were also improved at the same time. The use of MSS-derived powders made it possible to lower the sintering temperature and to improve the dielectric properties of the sintering samples. However, the piezoelectric properties as well as the grain-orientation were not improved any further by the MSS route.

  • Lead scandium tantalate powders were prepared by a molten salt synthesis method using NaCl-KCl as a flux. Variations in phase formation and particle morphology were investigated for the temperature range from $700^{\circ}C\;to\;800^{\circ}C$. $Pb(Sc_{1/2}Ta_{1/2})O_3$, with pure perovskite phase was formed at $750^{\circ}C$ fur 2 hrs and the prepared powder had the cubic-like morphology and the average particle size below $0.5{\mu}m$. The results were discussed with respect to DTA, X-ray diffraction, and microstructural characterization data.

  • $xPb(Fe_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3 - (1 - x)Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ powders were synthesized by the molten salt synthesis method using the NaC!- KCI flux with 1 : 1 molar ratio, and their powders and dielectric properties were investigated. The synthesized powders showed less agglomerated shape with the average particle size of less than $2 \mu\textrm{m}$. The composition $x0.3Pb(Fe_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3-0.7Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ could be sintered at $1000{\times}C$ and its dielectric constnat was over 11, 000.

  • 수산화인회석(Hydroxyapatite)는 뼈와 이빨의 무기물 주성분으로서, 칼슘과 인산염으로 구성된다. 우리는 수산화인회석의 합성에 용융열 합성법(molten salt method), 수열 합성법(hydrothermal method), 용매열 합성법(solvothermal method)을 사용하였으며, pH 조절과 각기 다른 용매를 사용하여 다양한 형태의 수산화인회석을 합성하였다. TEM과 SEM을 이용하여 크기와 모양이 제어된 수산화인회석임을 확인할 수 있었다. 합성된 수산화인회석을 이용하여, 전이금속 Ruthenium cation을 Hydroxyapatite 표면에 ion-exchange 반응을 통하여 도입하였으며, ICP를 통하여 Ru 함양을 정량하였다. 합성된 Ruthenium Hydroxyapatite (Ru-HAP)를 이용하여 dimethylamine borane를 통한 수소 발생을 확인하였다.

Electric properties of PZN-PNN-PT-PZ piezoelectric ceramics prepared by molten salt method (용융염 합성법으로 제조한 PZN-PNN-PT-PZ계 압전세라믹스의 전기적 특성)

  • The quartemary system ceramics 0.5[xPb(Zn$_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/)O$_{3}$-(1-x)Pb(Ni$_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/)O$_{3}$]-0.5[yPbTiO$_{3}$-(1-y) PbZrO$_{3}$ for piezoelectric actuators were prepared bv the were added to the raw materials up to 5 mole. Sintering temperature was varied form 1000.deg. C to 1200.deg. C. Sintering characteristrics, dielectric and piezoelectric properties were then investigated. Piezoelectric properties of sample prepared by the molten salt method were improved compared to those prepared by the conventional method. Addition of PZN shifted morphotropic phase boundary to more Zr-rich composition and decreased the piezoelectric properties.

  • Microstructure and additive effect of Lead Zirconate-Titanate(PZT) ceramics prepared by molten salt synthesis method with additives $Nb_2O_5, Fe_2O_3$ and MnO were investigated.The grain PZT ceramics ws decreased with the increase $Nb^{5+} or Fe^{3+}$ while increased with the increase $Mn^{2+}$ addition. The relative resistivity of PZT ceramics was increased with the increase $Mn^{5+}$ addition, while decreased with the increase $Mn^{2+}$ addition. And the dielectric and the piezoelectric constant of PZT ceramics showed 2,100 and 342pC/N at $Mn^{5+}$ addition of 0.75 mol%, respectively.

  • Synthesis of Z-type hexaferrite Ba3Co2Fe24O41 (Ba3Z) and Ba1.5La1.5Co2Fe24O41 (Ba1.5La1.5Z) powders were tried using molten salt synthesis after primary calcination. Ba3Z calcined at 1000℃ was formed with both M-type and Y-type hexaferrite, and then Z-type was obtained when sintered with molten salt at 1150℃ and 1200℃. In the case of Ba1.5La1.5Z calcined at 1000℃, however, M-type hexaferrite, CoFe2O4 (Spinel phase), and LaFeO3 were synthesized. As a result, Z-type hexaferrite was not synthesized after sintering with molten salt. In addition, the aspect ratio of the particles decreased as the sintering temperature increased with molten salt synthesis. To obtain a single-phase Ba1.5La1.5Z with a high aspect ratio, it is expected the raw materials have to calcine below the temperature of a spinel phase formation before sintering with molten salt.

  • [ $0.6Pb(Sc_{1/2}Ta_{1/2})O_3-0.4PbTiO_3$ ] (hereafter PSTT) ceramics were prepared by the molten salt synthesis (MSS) method using KCI as a flux. Formation of perovskite phase was investigated by a differential thermal analysis (DTA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis in the temperature range from $600^{\circ}C$ to $850^{\circ}C$. A 92% perovskite phase was synthesized at $750^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs using the MSS method, while 82% perovskite phase was synthesized at $850^{\circ}C$ for 4ks using the calcining of mixed oxide (CMO) method. This result could be due to the improvement in reactivity of $Sc_2O_3$ by melting of KCI. The MSS specimen sintered at $1,100^{\circ}C$ for 4hrs showed a dielectric constant of 11,200, a remnant polarization of $13.5{\mu}C/cm^2$ and a coercive field of 10.198 kV/cm, which was discussed in view of the microstructure.

Low temperature sintering and dielectric properties of $Sr_2(Ta_{1-x}Nb_x)_2O_7$ ceramics by the flux method (용융염합성법에 의한 $Sr_2(Ta_{1-x}Nb_x)_2O_7$ 세라믹스의 저온소성과 유전특성)

  • Solid solutions Sr$_{2}$(Ta$_{1-x}$ Nb$_{x}$)$_{2}$O$_{7}$, (x=0.0-1.0), composed of strontium tantalate(Tc=-107.deg. C) and strontium-niobate(Tc=1342.deg. C) were prepared by the conventional mixed oxide method and the flux method(molten salt synthesis method). Phase relation, sintering temperature, grain-orientation and dielectric properties for sintered ceramic samples were investigated with different compositions. Both Curie temperature and dielectric constant at Curie temperature were increased, and sintering behavior and the degree of grain-orientation were improved with the increase of Nb content. The single phase Sr$_{2}$(Ta/sib 1-x/Nb$_{x}$)$_{2}$O$_{7}$ powder was synthesized by using the flux method at lower temperatures, and sintering temperature was also reduced by using the flux method-derived powder than using the mixed oxide-derived powder. Sintering characteristics and dielectric properties of the specimens prepared by the flux method were better than those derived through the conventional mixed oxide method.thod.hod.
