  • 이 논문에서는 전자 사전의 뜻 풀이말을 이용하여 용어를 자동 분류하는 용어 클러스터링 시스템을 설계하였다. 클러스터링 성능에 영향을 미치는 요소로 자질 선택 자질 표현 그리고 유사도 측정 등이 있다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 요소들이 용어 클러스터링에 미치는 영향을 평가해보았다. 클러스터링 결과를 객관적으로 비교하기 위해서 용어 클러스터링 결과와 한국어 의미 계층망에서 추출한 정답 클러스터를 비교하였다 실험 결과, 용어의 뜻 풀이말만 자질로 사용한 방법보다는 뜻 풀이말 자질을 확장하는 방법이 훨씬 더 좋은 결과를 보였다.

A Literary Study on the Changes in the Meaning of Gongye During Korea's Transition to the Modern Era (근대 전환기 한국 '工藝(공예)' 용어의 쓰임과 의미 변화에 대한 고찰)

  • This paper investigates the process of change in the meaning of the term gongye (工藝) (nowadays it means craft) during Korea's transition to the modern era. The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty (朝鮮王朝實錄) will serve as the basis for the examination of pre-modern usage, and the Korea-United States Treaty of 1882 for the changes that occurred between the translation from Chinese and from Japanese following the opening of the port . After the port opened, the meaning of gongye, which once broadly referred to the wide range of work of people from different fields, was narrowed down to singularly represent the manufacturing industry. Following the example of Japan, the first East Asian country to succeed in modernization, this new meaning of gongye was generally used in the context of embracing Western culture and creating industry. As industrialization emerged as a national mission, and new terminology was needed to express these new concepts, the Chinese characters used by the Japanese to translate Western concepts were directly imported and used without making any changes. Gongye was similar in meaning to gongeop (工業) (nowadays it means industry) at the time, and the two terms were used interchangeably. However, following the Japanese annexation of Korea, the cultural administration of the Governor-General imbued the term with artistic concepts, and gongye was differentiated from gongeop, As such, examining the establishment of terminology and concepts can be helpful for understanding the contradictions and problems of the Korean crafts scene, which were derived from a period in the past called the modern era.

An Alignment Model for Extracting English-Korean Translations of Term Constituents (영-한 조어단위 대역쌍 추출을 위한 조어단위 정렬 모델)

  • Terms are linguistic realization of technical concepts. Term constituents are important elements used for representing the concept. Since many new terms are created from the modification or combination of existing constituents, it is important to analyze term constituents for understanding the concept of the term. It means that term constituents offer clues for understanding the concept of terms. However, there are a couple of difficulties in matching concept unit and term constituents such as mismatching between a term constituent and a concept unit, homonym of term constituents and synonym of term constituents. To solve them, it is necessary to recognize concept units of term constituents. In this paper, we define an English term constituent as the concept unit and use an alignment algorithm between English-Korean term constituents in order to recognize concept units of term constituents. By our alignment algorithm we recognize Korean term constituents corresponding to an English term constituent with about $93\%$ precision.

  • To improve the efficiency of business, it is important to standardize the meaning of terminology. And then, terminology dictionaries have been actively being built and used in various fields. In defense area, the publication of defense terminology dictionary is useful for information exchange of each army and distribution of standardized terminology. Defense agency for technology and quality(DTaQ) publishes terminology dictionary of defense science and technology on a three-year cycle. DTaQ tries to standardize the construction process of terminology dictionary and improve service efficiency by using terminology dictionary in defense area. This proposed method is based on the result of previous study about standardization of terminology dictionary. We suggest the practical steps including terminology dictionary constructing process, composition and role of organization, definition of headword, selection of target documents to be extracted terminology candidate, terminology extraction, generation of terminology candidate group, workbench registration, construction and validation of terminology dictionary. Thesaurus and workbench are developed to use and support terminology dictionary effectively.

  • 기존의 웹 이미지 검색 엔진은 웹 이미지를 검색할 때 웹 이미지의 특징과, 웹 이미지를 포함한 HTML 문서의 텍스트를 이용한다. 그러나, 텍스트는 문맥에 따라 의미가 달라질 수 있으므로, 검색 대상을 미리 분류하면 검색 효율을 높일 수 있다. 본 논문은 웹 문서의 텍스트에서 이미지와 관련이 있는 이미지 설명 텍스트를 자동으로 추출하고, 검색 효율을 높이기 위하여 웹 이미지를 자동으로 분류하는 지능적 웹 이미지 검색 엔진을 제안한다. 지능적 웹 이미지 검색 엔진은 분류와 용어, 용어와 용어 사이의 연관도를 이용하여 분류의 정확도를 높인다.

  • As what exactly understands a meaning of mathematics terms, is a starting point of mathematical thinking, it plays a very important role in the mathematics learning. What understood mathematics terms which were defined here, includes not only the terms of comprising its definition, but also all of the understanding in context, situation, intention and purpose, which came to give its definition. Due to this reason, it needs to be examined how much students are correctly understanding about mathematics terms which appear in the texts, and to seek for its cause for the terms which are felt to be difficult. Accordingly, this study investigated into mathematics terms which are used for the field of geometry in the elementary school mathematics textbooks, and tried to analyze students' understanding level about each term.

Automatic term-network construction for Oral Documents (구술문서에 기초한 자동 용어 네트워크 구축)

  • An automatic term-network construction system is proposed in this paper. This system uses the statistical values of the terms appeared in a document corpus. The 186 oral history documents collected from the Saemangeum area of Chollapuk-do, Korea, are used for the research. The term relationships presented in the term-network are decided by the cosine similarities of the term vectors. The number of the terms extracted from the documents is about 1700. The system is able to show the term relationships from the term-network as quickly as like a real-time system. The way of this term-network construction is expected as one of the methods to construct the ontology system and to support the semantic retrieval system in the near future.
