A study on the characteristics of axially magnetized capacitively coupled radio frequency plasma (축 방향으로 자화된 용량 결합형 RF 플라즈마의 특성 연구)

  • Magnetic field is commonly used in low temperature processing plasmas to enhance the performance of the plasma reactors. E$\times$B magnetron or surface multipole configuration is the most popular. However, the properties of capacitively coupled rf plasma confined by axial static magnetic field have rarely been studied. With these background, the effect of magnetic field on the characteristics of capacitively coupled 13.56 MHz/40 KHz argon plasma was studied, Ion saturation current, electron temperature and plasma potential were measured by Langmuir probe and emissive probe. At low pressure region (~10 mTorr), ion current increases by a factor of 3-4 due to reduction of diffusion loss of charged particles to the wall. Electron temperature slightly increases with magnetic field for 13.56 MHz discharge. However, for 40 KHz discharge, electron temperature decreased from 1.8 eV to 0.8 eV with magnetic field. It was observed that the magnetic field induces large temporal variation of the plasma potential. Particle in cell simulation was performed to examine the behaviors of the space potential. Experimental and simulation results agreed qualitatively.

  • Inherited the excellent electrical and mechanical properties based on the low dimensional structure of graphene, three-dimensional graphene nanostructures have gathered great attention as electrochemical energy storage electrodes owing to their high porosity and large specific surface area. Also, having the catecholamine structure, dopamine has been regarded as a multifunctional material to possess high affinity to various organic/inorganic materials and to modify a hydrophobic surface to a hydrophilic one. In this work, through coating dopamine on the three-dimensional graphene nanostructure, we tried to increase the specific capacitance by enhancing the wettability with electrolyte and to improve the mechanical compressive property by strengthening the nano-architecture. As a result, the dopamine-coated nanostructure exhibited significant improvement on the specific capacitance (51.5% increase) and compressive stress (59.6% increase).

  • Recently, flash memory-based non-volatile cache (NVC) is emerging as an effective solution to enhance both I/O performance and energy consumption of storage systems. To get significant performance and energy gains by NVC, it would be better to use multi-level-cell (MLC) flash memories since it can provide a large capacity of NVC with low cost. However, the number of available program/erase cycles of MLC flash memory is smaller than that of single-level-cell (SLC) flash memory limiting the lifespan of NVC. To overcome such a limitation, SLC/MLC combined flash memory is a promising solution for NVC. In this paper, we propose an effective management scheme for heterogeneous SLC and MLC regions of the combined flash memory.

  • The electrochemical properties of porous carbon electrodes as a function of their internal electrolyte concentration were investigated. Cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, and impedance spectroscopic analysis were conducted for carbon electrodes equilibrated with 0.01, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.5 M KCl solution and covered with a cation-exchange membrane. The specific capacitance of the electrodes increased as the internal electrolyte concentration increased, due to a decrease in charging resistance. Experimental results indicated that the salt removal efficiency of the membrane capacitive deionization process could be enhanced by increasing the internal electrolyte concentration, even for an influent with a low salt concentration.

Exploring the Impacts of Autonomous Vehicle Implementation through Microscopic and Macroscopic Approaches (자율주행차량 도입에 따른 교통 네트워크의 효율성 변화 분석연구)

  • Thanks to technical improvement on the vehicle to vehicle communication and the intelligent transportation system, gradual introduction of the autonomous vehicles is expected soon in the market. The study analyzes the autonomous vehicles' impacts on the network efficiencies. In order to measure the network efficiencies, the study applies the sequential procedures that combines the microscopic and macroscopic simulations. The microscopic simulation attends to the capacity changes due to the autonomous vehicles' proportions on the roadway while the macroscopic simulation utilizes the simulation results in order to identify the network-wide improvement. As expected, the autonomous vehicles efficiently utilizes the existing capacity of the roadway than the human driving does. Particularly, the maximum capacity improvements are expected by the 190.5% on the expressway. The significant capacity change is observed when the autonomous vehicles' proportions are about 80% or more. These improvements are translated into the macroscopic model, which also yields overall network efficiency improvement by the autonomous vehicles' penetration. However, the study identifies that the market debut of the autonomous vehicles does not promise the free flow condition, which implies the possible needs of the system optimal routing scheme for the era of the autonomous vehicles.

신호제어를 고려한 가로망 설계모형의 구축에 대한 연구

  • 가로망은 사회의 발전과 더불어 날로 늘어나고 있는 통행수요를 직접적으로 처리하게 되는 기반시설이다. 따라서 가로망의 구성과 운영은 심각하게 대두되고 있는 교통혼잡 등의 제반문제들을 해결하기 위해 기본적으로 고려되어야 한다. 이를 위해서 연구되어온 가로망 설계 모형들은 새로운 도로의 건설이나 기존 도로의 확장 등을 통해 가로망을 조정하여, 사용자들의 선택에 영향을 줌으로써 통행 흐름을 원활하게 하고자 한다. 이러한 가로망 설계 과정에서 사용자들에 의해서 초래된 통행비용의 개선과 이를 위해 사용된 투자비용 사이의 관계를 고려하여 적절한 대안을 선택하게 된다. 일반적으로 도시부의 경우, 차량들의 통행패턴은 가로망의 물리적 구성(기하구조, 용량 등)뿐만 아니라, 신호제어(주기, 녹색시간 등)에 의해서 결정된다. 그러므로 가로망 설계 모형에서 고려되는 사용자의 통행비용의 경우, 단순히 가로망의 통행시간 뿐만 아니라 신호제어에 의해서 부가되는 지체도 고려해야 하며, 이를 통해 가로망의 계획단계에서 중요하게 생각해야하는 요소의 하나인 차량의 이동성과 접근성의 부여도 가능하게 될 것이다. 즉, 이동성을 중요시하는 도로와 접근성을 위주로 하는 도로 각각의 기능에 부합하는 가로망 설계가 필요한 것이다. 위에서 언급한 것처럼 기존의 가로망 설계모형의 경우, 단순히 용량의 변화에 대한 링크 통행시간과 이로 인한 통행량의 변화만을 고려하고 있는 상황이다. 하지만, 도시부에서 실제 차량의 통행패턴은 단순히 도로의 기하학적 용량뿐만 아니라, 교차로에서의 신호제어에 의한 지체에도 상당한 영향을 받게 되며, 가로망 설계 모형에서 이를 반영할 수 있어야 한다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 이러한 신호제어의 영향들을 고려함으로써 가로망 설계 과정에서 가로망의 상반된 역할인 이동성과 접근성의 비교가 가능한 보다 현실적인 가로망 설계 모형을 구축하고자 한다. 지금까지 소개된 가로망 설계모형들은 용량변화에 대한 설계변수의 형태에 따라 이산적 가로망 설계 모형과 연속적 가로망 설계모형으로 나뉘어지게 된다. 본 논문의 경우, 계산속도의 향상 측면에서는 연속적 가로망 설계 모형을 도입할 수 있지만, 이때 요구되는 도로용량이 이산적인 변수(차선 수)로 결정되어야만 신호제어 변수를 결정할 수 있기 때문에, 이산적 가로망 설계 모형이 사용된다. 하지만, 이산적 설계모형의 경우 조합최적화 문제이므로 정확한 최적해를 구하기 위해서는 상당한 시간이 소요되며, 경우에 따라서는 국부 최적해에 빠지게 된다. 이러한 문제를 극복하기 위해, 우선 이상적 모형의 근사화, 혹은 조합최적화문제를 위해 개발된 Simulated Annealing기법의 적용, 연속적 모형의 변수를 이산화하는 방법 등 다양한 모형들을 고려해 본 뒤, 적절한 모형을 적용할 것이다. 가로망 설계 모형에서 신호제어를 고려하기 위해서는 주어진 가로망에 대한 통행 배정과정에서 고려되는 통행시간을 링크통행시간과 교차로 지체시간을 동시에 고려해야 하는데, 이러한 문제의 해결을 위해서 최근 활발히 논의되고 있는 교차로에서의 신호제어에 대응하는 통행배정 모형을 도입하여 고려하고자 한다. 이를 위해서 지금까지 연구되어온 Global Solution Approach와 Iterative Approach를 비교, 검토한 뒤 모형에 보다 알맞은 방법을 선택한다. 차량의 교차로 통행을 고려하는 performance function의 경우 비신호 교차로와 신호교차로에 대한 적절한 비교가 현재로서는 고려되고 있지 못하기 때문에, 구성되는 가로망의 경우 신호교차로들로만 구성되며, 부득이한 경우 입체교차의 형태로 구성되는 것으로 가정한다. 실제 가로망의 경우, 교통향이 많은 도시부의 경우 주가로망은 대부분 신호교차로와 입체교차로 구성되기 때문에 가능할 것으로 생각된다. 기존의 신호제어 모형과 가로망 설계모형을 결합하여 통합된 가로망 설계모형의 구축하기 위해, 기존의 연구결과들을 종합하여 보다 적절한 모형을 선택하고, 개선하며, 이의 적용성을 시험하기 위해서, 가상 가로망을 구성하여 모형의 적용 결과를 분석한다.

Design of an Electrically Small Antenna Using Metamaterial Structure (메타물질 구조를 이용한 전기적 소형 안테나의 설계)

  • In this paper, a novel electrically small monopole type resonant antenna is proposed. The very short length monopole (${\iota}{\approx}{\lambda}_g/15$ ) acts as a capacitive element and the slot on the ground structure acts as an inductive element, hence the combined system with these two elements thus form an LC resonator. The equivalent circuit model of the antenna structure was used to analysis and qualify the design correctness. Although the proposed antenna has very small size, it shows good performances. The measured maximum gain and radiation efficiency of the fabricated antenna at the frequency of 2.1 GHz was 3.6 dBi and 77.8 %, respectively.

Electrochemical Characteristics of High Capacity Anode Composites Using Silicon and CNT for Lithium Ion Batteries (실리콘과 CNT를 사용한 리튬 이온 전지용 고용량 음극복합소재의 전기화학적 특성)

  • In this study, to improve capacity and cycle stability, the pitch coated nano silicon sheets/CNT composites were prepared through electrostatic bonding of nano silicon sheets and CNT. Silica sheets were synthesized by hydrolyzing TEOS on the crystal planes of NaCl, and then nano silicon sheets were prepared by using magnesiothermic reduction method. To fabricate the nano silicon sheets/CNT composites, the negatively charged CNT after the acid treatment was used to assemble the positively charged nano silicon sheets modified with APTES. THF as a solvent was used in the coating process of PFO pitch. The physical properties of the prepared anode composites were analysed by FE-SEM, XRD and EDS. The electrochemical performances of the synthesized anode composites were performed by current charge/discharge, rate performances, differential capacity and EIS tests in the electrolyte LiPF6 dissolve solvent (EC:DMC:EMC = 1:1:1 vol%). It was found that the anode material with high capacity and stability could be synthesized when high composition of silicon and conductivity of CNT were used. The pitch coated nano silicon sheets/CNT anode composites showed initial discharge capacity of 2344.9 mAh/g and the capacity retention ratio of 81% after 50 cycles. The electrochemical property of pitch coated anode material was more improved than that of the nano silicon sheets/CNT composites.

Evaluation of Properties of Artificial Soil Aggregate Based on Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag According to Unit Binder Content (단위결합재량에 따른 고로슬래그 기반 육성용 인공토양골재의 특성평가)

  • The eight mixes and artificial soil aggregates were prepared for evaluating the practical application of lightweight foamed concrete as soil aggregates. The main parameter was unit binder content ranged between from 100 to $800kg/m^3$. In lightweight foamed concrete, flow, slurry and dried density, and compressive strength at different ages were measured. In Artificial soil aggregates crushed from lightweight foamed concrete, particle size distribution, pH, coefficient of permeability, cation exchange capacity(CEC), and ratio of carbon to nitrogen(ratio of C/N), were measured. The test results showed that flow, slurry and dried density, and compressive strength at different ages of lightweight foamed concrete increased with the increasing of unit binder content. Compressive strength at age of 28, of lightweight foamed concrete with unit binder of more than $500kg/m^3$, was more than 4 MPa. The ammonium phosphate immersion time of more than age of 3, was effective to decrease pH of artificial soil aggregates. In addition, artificial soil aggregates was evaluated as high class in terms of cation exchange capacity(CEC), while satisfied with value of ratio of carbon to nitrogen(ratio of C/N) recommended by landscape specification.

CMOS Programmable Interface Circuit for Capacitive MEMS Gyroscope (MEMS 용량형 각속도 센서용 CMOS 프로그래머블 인터페이스 회로)

  • In this paper, the CMOS programmable interface circuit for MEMS gyroscope is presented, and evaluated with the MEMS sensing element. The circuit includes the front-end charge amplifier with 10 bit programmable capacitor arrays, 9 bit DAC for accurate offset calibration, and 10 bit PGA for accurate gain calibration. The self oscillation loop with automatic gain control operates properly. The offset error and gain error after calibration are measured to be 0.36 %FSO and 0.19 %FSO, respectively. The noise equivalent resolution and bias instability are measured to be 0.016 deg/sec and 0.012 deg/sec, respectively. The calibration capability of this circuit can reduce the variations of the output offset and gain, and this can enhance the manufacturability and can improve the yield.
