Running Bucket Vibration Test of Steam Turbines (증기 터빈 버킷의 회전 진동 시험)

  • A design modification was made on the 9-th stage wheel dovetail of a high-intermediate pressure (HIP) turbine rotor for a fossil power plant that necessitates the use of new long-shank buckets for the row. A bucket vibration test is necessary to verify that the new 9-th stage buckets have adequate frequency margin from a nozzle passing frequency when running at speed. A finite element analysis (FEA) has been performed using a commercial S/W to approximately estimate bucket natural frequencies, and thus to help the vibration test. A row of the new buckets has assembled on the HIP rotor for the vibration tests using dynamic balancing facilities. The tests have been done during deceleration run with air excitation. The test results are compared with the calculation using our empirical formula, and show that the modified design meets the frequency-margin requirements.

산업용 잉크젯을 이용한 전자소자 제작

  • 전자산업에서 소자를 제작하는 핵심공정으로써, 패턴을 형성하는 방식은 식각 마스크를 통해 이루어진다. 공정 순서는 원하는 물질을 증착한 후 사진공정 (photolithograpy)을 통하여 원하는 패턴의 감광제 식각마스크 (etch mask)를 형성하게 된다. 이후, 습식식각이나 건식식각을 통하여 물질의 불필요한 부분을 제거한 후 최종적으로 감광제 식각마스크를 제거하여 원하는 물질의 패턴을 얻게 된다. 최근에 소개된 잉크젯 프린팅 기술 (inkjet printing technology)은 나노 잉크를 이용하여 사진공정과 식각공정을 이용하지 않고, 직접 나노잉크를 분사하여 패턴을 형성하는 방법으로, 패터닝 공정을 단순화 시킬 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 각종 전자 산업의 환경오염물을 획기적으로 줄일 수 있는 친환경기술이다. 특히, OLED, O-TFT, RF-ID, PCB 분야 등 다양한 전자산업분야의 제조기술로서 응용하고자, 전도성 폴리머나 실버 (silver) 나노파티클 잉크를 이용한 전도성 라인 패터닝 (line patterning)에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 강연에서는 친환경 생산공정기술 측면에서의 잉크젯기술을 분석하고, 기술의 구성요소, 응용분야, 기술 동향에 관해서 소개하고, 또한 현재 한국생산기술연구원에 진행하고 있는 잉크젯 프린팅 기술 기반의 인쇄전자 분야에 관한 내용을 소개한다.

The Study on Development and Verification of Rainfall-Runoff Simulator for LID Technology Verification (LID 기술의 효율성 검증을 위한 강우-유출 모의장치 개발 및 검증실험에 관한 연구)

  • Climate change and urbanization have affected a increase of peak discharge and water pollution etc. In a view of these aspects, the LID(Low Impact Development) technology has been highlighted as one of adjustable control measures to mimic predevelopment hydrologic condition. Many LID technologies have developed, but there is a lack of studies with verification of LID technology efficiency. Therefore this study developed a rainfall-runoff simulator could be possible to verify LID technology efficiency. Using this simulator, this study has experimented the rainfall verification through the rainfall distribution experiment and the experiment to show the relation between inflow and effective rainfall in order to sprinkle the equal rainfall in each unit bed. As a result, the study defined the relation between allowable discharge range and RPM by nozzle types and verified the hydrologic cycle such as the relation between infiltration rate, surface runoff and subsurface runoff at pervious area and impervious area through the rainfall-runoff experiment.

Dry Magnetic Particle Inspection of Ingot Cast Billets (강편 빌레트의 건식 자분 탐상)

  • Dry magnetic particle inspection(MPI) was performed to detect the surface defects of steel ingot cast billets. Magnetic properties of several materials were characterized by the measurement of the B-H hysteresis curve. The inspection results were evaluated in terms of the magnetizing current, temperature, and the amount of magnetic particles applied to billets. Magnetic flux leakage near the defect site of interest was measured and compared with the results of calculation by the finite element method in the case of direct magnetizing current. Direct and alternating magnetizing currents for materials were deduced by the comparison of the inspections. Results of the magnetic particle inspection by direct magnetizing current were compared with those of finite element method calculations, which were verified by measuring magnetic leakage flux above the surface and the surface defects of the material. For square rods, due to the geometrical effect, the magnetic flux density at the edges along the length of the rods was about 30% of that at the center of rod face for a sufficiently large direct magnetizing current, while it was about 70% for an alternating magnetizing current. Thus, an alternating magnetizing current generates rather uniform magnetic flux density over the rods, except for the region on the face across about 10 mm from the edge. The attraction of the magnetic particle by the magnetic leakage field was nearly independent of the surface temperature of the billets up to $150^{\circ}C$. However, the temperature should have been limited below $60^{\circ}C$ for an effective fixing of gathered magnetic particles to the billet surface using methylene chloride. We also found that the amount of applied magnetic particles tremendously affected the detection capability.

A Study on the Effectiveness Verification of Hydrological Cycle of Pervious Pavement using LID Simulator (LID 효율성 검증기기를 이용한 투수성 블록의 수문순환 효율성 검증에 관한 연구)

  • In recent, the impacts of urbanization on hydrology and water quality can be minimized with the use of Low Impact Development (LID) practices in urban areas. But, there are no ways to verify or to show the quantitative effectiveness with LID practices. This study designed and developed to perform experiments in natural or artificial representation of hydrological cycle, which is called rainfall-runoff simulator to be able to quantify factors in hydrological system. This simulator was applied to a pervious pavement block. The study conducted analysis of effectiveness for a pervious pavement block by comparing the results with a general pavement block. The result from the pervious pavement block showed remarkably reduction effect on surface runoff with increase of rainfall intensity and more duration time. Also, the simulator was possible to control no surface runoff by a rainfall intensity at 50 mm/hr for an hour. The research indicated possibility and effectiveness for LID practices. This might be widely available to apply to LID practices verification. Therefore, the study is possible to make use of practical standards on fundamental studies.

The Development of the Manipulator and End-effector of Automated Pavement Crack Sealing Machine and Movement Test (도로면 크랙실링 자동화 장비의 모체 제작 및 구동 실험)

  • Crack sealing has been widely used in the pavement maintenance due to its advantage of repairing the cracks at the preliminary stages. However, it has been analyzed that the crack sealing work process is dangerous and labor intensive. Moreover, quality and productivity of crack sealing work are highly depended on labor experience and skills. Therefore, various crack sealing machines have been researched but revealed many limitations in practical application. This research analyses conventional crack sealing work process and previously developed crack sealing machines in order to develop an automated pavement crack sealing machine which can be practically and widely applied in the construction fields. This paper develops the previously proposed conceptual design by drawing detailed designs and fabricating the hardware(manipulator and end-effector) of the automated pavement crack sealing machine. The crack sealing machine suggested in this paper overcomes limitations of existing crack sealing machines and designed to meet the domestic road conditions and regulations. It is expected that automating the conventional crack sealing method contributes to the improvement of quality, economy and reduce accidents.

  • $NO_X$ reducing technique such as LNT, LNC, and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) have been developed and applied, especially on heavy-duty vehicles. However, it is expected that $NO_X$ reduction techniques will also be applied to diesel passenger vehicles. The urea-SCR system is receiving attention as the most effective $NO_X$ reduction technology without a fuel penalty. Thus, many advanced countries are developing this technology. The urea-SCR system sprays an aqueous urea solution that separates $NO_X$ into $N_2$ and $H_2O$, which are harmless and emitted into the atmosphere. The urea injected in front of the SCR catalyst should be changed to 100% $NH_3$, which is required for $NO_X$ reduction in the SCR system to maximize the reduction efficiency. The purpose of this study was to determine the basic data for the urea-SCR system to maximize the $NO_X$ reduction efficiency by understanding the $NO_X$ reduction characteristics in a real passenger vehicle to comply with the post EURO-6 emission regulation.

  • Recently, the improvement of virtual reality and augmented reality technologies leverages many new technologies like the virtual study room, virtual architecture room. Such virtual worlds require free handed drawing technology such as writing descriptions of formula or drawing blue print of buildings. In nature, lots of view point modifications occur when we walk around inside the virtual world. Especially, we often look some objects from near to far distance in the virtual world. Traditional drawing methods like using fixed size image for drawing unit is not produce acceptable result because they generate blurred and jaggy result as view distance varying. We propose a novel method which robust to the environment that produce lots of magnifications and minimizations like the virtual reality world. We implemented our algorithm both two dimensional and three dimensional devices. Our algorithm does not produce any artifacts, jaggy or blurred result regardless of scaling factor.

  • Anti-icing system can immediately respond when snowing is expected or the snow comes down on the road surface. It has been recognized that the system can reduce traffic accidents and congestion by quickly removing the frozen road surface area. However, it is very difficult to implement this system due to the expensive equipment installation and operation cost, Recently, there was a developed program for predicting the freezing area using three-dimensional model and tracking the sun path. But, there is no objective analysis method and all developed approaches are different so that the general standard of anti-icing system is needed. In this study, we proposed the decision criteria for determining application priorities of the anti-icing system based on weather and road conditions, i.e., geometric and topographic conditions. Regional climate survey, topographical analysis, and dynamic vehicle simulation considered road geometry and skid resistance was conducted to standardize the installation method of anti-icing system.

Investigation of Leakage Currents of $BaTiO_3$ Thin Films Using Aerosol Deposition in Microscopic Viewpoint

  • 최근 고용량의 디커플링 캐패시터를 기판에 내장하여 고주파 발생의 원인인 배선길이와 실장 면적을 획기적으로 줄이는 임베디드 디커플링 캐패시터에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 하지만 기존의 공정들은 높은 공정온도와 같은 공정상의 한계를 가지고 있어 상온 저 진공 분위기에서 세라믹 분말을 기판에 고속 분사시켜 기공과 균열이 거의 없는 치밀한 나노구조의 세라믹 제작이 가능한 후막코팅기술인 Aerosol Deposition Method (ADM)에 착목하였으며, 이 ADM을 박막공정으로 응용하여 $BaTiO_3$ 박막을 제작하고 고용량의 디커플링 캐패시터 제작을 실현하고자 한다. 하지만, Cu 기판 상에 성막 된 $0.5\;{\mu}m$이하의 $BaTiO_3$ 박막에서는 $BaTiO_3$ 분말 내에 존재하는 평균입자 보다 큰 입자와 응집분말로 인해 발생하는 pore, crater, not-fully-crushed particles와 같은 거시적인 결함들에서의 전류 통전과 울퉁불퉁한 $BaTiO_3$ 박막과 기판 사이의 계면에서의 전계의 집중에 의한 전류의 증가로 인하여 큰 누설전류 발생하는 문제에 봉착하였다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 제시된 효과적인 방법으로 Stainless steel 기판과 같이 표면경도가 높은 기판을 사용하는 것이며, 이를 통해 $0.2\;{\mu}m$의 두께까지 유전 $BaTiO_3$ 박막을 성막 할 수 있었으며, 치밀한 표면 미세구조와 줄어든 $BaTiO_3$ 박막과 기판 사이의 계면의 거칠기를 확인하였다. 하지만, $BaTiO_3$ 박막 내에 발생하는 누설전류의 근본원인을 확인하기 위해서는 누설전류에 대한 미시적인 접근이 더욱 요구된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 누설전류 발생원인의 미시적 접근을 위해 두께에 따른 $BaTiO_3$ 박막의 누설전류 전도기구에 대한 조사하였으며, 이를 통해 $BaTiO_3$ 박막내 발생하는 누설전류의 원인은 $BaTiO_3$막 내에서 donor로서 역할을 하는 oxygen vacancy와 불균일한 전계의 집중으로 인한 전자의 tunneling 현상임을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, Nano-indenter와 Conductive atomic force microscopic를 이용한 정밀 측정을 통해 표면경도의 중요성을 재확인하였으며 $BaTiO_3$ 박막의 두께가 $0.2\;{\mu}m$이하로 더욱 얇아지게 되면 입자간 결합 문제 또한 ADM을 박막화 하는데 있어 중요한 요소임을 확인하였다.
