Effects of Iyengar Yoga Practice for 12 weeks on Lower Body Imbalance in Middle-aged Women (중년여성의 12주간 아헹가 요가 수련이 하체 불균형에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Iyengar yoga practice on the lower body imbalance in middle-aged women. The subjects (n=24), who had not performed yoga training prior to this study (and) were not attending any other training programs, participated after undergoing an X-RAY examination with the Gonstead Technique and then their lower body imbalance (was reevaluated). The subjects completed the yoga program for 12 weeks (3 times per week, 90 minutes per session). The data were analyzed with the paired t-test and alpha was set at 0.05. It was found that 1) the height differences between the right and left iliac crests (p < 0.001), width (p < 0.001) and length (p < 0.001) differences between the right and left iliac fossa, and width differences between the right and left sacrum (p < 0.001) were significantly reduced after the training program. In addition, 2) the lower limb length discrepancy was significantly reduced (p < 0.001). Our data suggest that Iyengar yoga training for 12 weeks reduces the pelvic imbalance and length differences between the right and left lower limbs in middle-aged females.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate of assessment of the ability of balance control using COP 95% confidence ellipse area while executing single-leg stance with eyes open and eyes closed through GRF system. The subjects participated in this study were 7 female yoga group and 7 female control group. The yoga training affected to improve the ability of balance control because the yoga group's COP AP and ML standard deviation and COP 95% confidence ellipse area were smaller than control group in both a single-leg stance with eyes open and eyes closed. Visual affected to the ability of balance control in a single-leg stance. I consider COP 95% confidence ellipse area as a high variable for determining the ability of balance control, and therefore suggest that additional studies for various groups and subjects will be required in the future.

  • This purpose of study was to Analysis on Location and Service Factors Affecting the Management and Use of Judo Gym. This study aims at providing fundamental data and information on Judo coach by studying what effects of location and use factor on trainee satisfaction. The survey was done through 350 copies and excluding 11 copies ran an analysis on the remaining 339(96.8%) copies. After question investigating the data which is collected used IBM SPSS statistics 21 program, frequency analysis, Exploratory factor analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, correlation analysis, multiple regression. The result of this study were as follows. First, management, location, coach, trainee value, facility, communication in Judo gym location and use factors showed (+) effects on trainee satisfaction. Second, Program operation, Gym quit use, Whether or not to insure in management factor showed (+) effects on trainee satisfaction. Third, Coach credibility in coach factor showed (+) effects on trainee satisfaction. Forth, Member communication in communication factor showed (+) effects on trainee satisfaction. Fifth, Wholesome leisure, Athletic ability improving in trainee value factor showed (+) effects on trainee satisfaction. Sixth, main facility level, additional facility level in facility factor showed (+) effects on trainee satisfaction. Seventh, Visibility in location factor showed (+) effects on trainee satisfaction. And location type(station area, residential district, commercial area) of Judo gym showed (+) effect on management, trainee value, location, communication, facility.

Effects of Hatha Yoga Practice on the Elderly Having Chronic Back Pain because of Computer Usage (하타요가수련이 컴퓨터 사용후 만성요통에 시달리는 노인의 통증에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the effects of practicing Hatha Yoga on the elderly. I have focused on the changes in subjective pain and a feeling of helplessness in their daily lives of elderly people over 65 who are suffering from chronic back pain. We looked at both men and women over 65, who were not working during the period, all of whom had been experiencing back pain over 6 months. All the subjects have never practiced Hatha Yoga or any other specialized and/or systematic workouts at that time. Among them, the men and women over age 65 with chronic back pain were selected as a group and practiced Hatha Yoga three times a week for eight weeks. In conclusion, the study proves that Hatha Yoga is an effective way for the old over 65 with chronic back pain by acquiring muscular strength and flexibility at the same time.

  • Healing Yoga is old women know the change of stress and physical ability. The purpose of the study, to live a healthy life articles. Research for A living in the city. And B goes to the welfare center. The elderly women over the age of 65 and have no problem with physical activity in daily life. 8 experimental group control group 8 to 12-week healing yoga. Body composition and physical ability in the experimental group had changed. The change of stress levels, there was no statistical change in the sub factors. The average value by deep social role in the exam group many growth and self-reliance. Depressed, sleep disorders, general health and vitality in the control group showed a reduction greater than the factors.

A Study of the Stability on Standing posture of Single leg in Yoga practicing (요가 수련을 통한 한발서기 자세의 안정화 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of stability on one leg standing posture in yoga practice. Thirteen women college student who have never done yoga participated in this study. In order to collect data before and after yoga practicing for two years, we were used 3D motion capture system and electromyography. The results were as follows. First, ranges of motions for Y axis of left knee joint and X axis of right ankle joint were significantly different in dancer posture(p<.05), and then X axis of right ankle and Y axis of left ankle joint were significantly different in tree posture of pre and post training. Second, the planar alignment angle of trunk-pelvis was not significant difference in dancer and tree posture. Third, CoM-distances of Y, Z directions were significant difference in the tree posture(p<.05). Fourth, Muscle activities of both rectus abdominis, erector spinae and left quadriceps were significant difference in tree posture(p<.05). These findings suggested that yoga training played important roles in stable postures as results of decreasing rotation ankle joint and movement of CoM and enforcing core muscles. This study provides evidence for effectiveness of the stability on standing posture and can get a great effect on posture correction by means of yoga training. Hereafter, study on alignment angle, which is a measurement of postural stabilization will be needed by future yoga training.

Comparison of ROM and Muscle Activities According to the Skills of Surya Namaskara in Vinyasa Yoga (요가 수르야 나마스카 동작의 숙련도 차이에 따른 ROM과 근활성도 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate range of motion (ROM) and muscle activities according to the skills of Surya Namaskara in Vinyasa Yoga. Six females (skilled 2, unskilled 4) of university students participated in this experiment. The research factors were ROM and muscle activities for static poses on Surya Namaskara in Vinyasa Yoga. The six infrared cameras (Oqus 300, Qualisys Inc, Sweden) and Zero Wire EMG (Aurion, Italy) were used to acquire raw data, and the Qualisys Track Manager and Noraxon (MyoResearch XP Master Edition, USA) were used to process data. The %MVIC and ROM were analyzed with Visual 3D (C-Motion Inc, USA) and Noraxon. In conclusion, ROM and %MVIC between two groups were remarkable different according to the static poses of Yoga, therefore instructors have to provide step-by-step information that was suitable to themselves (ROM and EMG of poses).

  • Most people acquire information visually. Screens of computers, smart phones, etc. constantly stimulate people's eyes, increasing fatigue. In this social phenomenon, the realistic and rich sound of the 21st century's state-of-art sound system can affect people's bodies and minds in various ways. Through sound, human beings are given space to calm and observe themselves. The purpose of this paper is to introduce immersive yoga training based on 3D sound conducted together by ALgruppe & Rory's PranaLab and to promote the understanding of immersive audio system. As a result, people, experienced immersive yoga, not only enjoy the effect of sound, but also receive a powerful energy that gives them a sense of inner self-awareness. This is a response to multidisciplinary exchange required by the knowledge of modern society, and at the same time, informs the possibility of new cultural contents.
