  • This study examines the effect of adolescents' experiences of school violence on complex post-traumatic stress disorder(cPTSD) and the moderating effect of self-esteem on this relationship. For this purpose, the data surveyed on 291 adolescents was used in the study, and the research model was verified through moderated regression analysis. The results are as follows: Experience of school violence and self-esteem had a significant effect on cPTSD. It was confirmed that self-esteem had moderated an effect of the experience of school violence on cPTSD. Even if the level of experiences of school violence was the same, high self-esteem could reduce the cPTSD. Based on the results of the study, methods to reduce the problem of school violence among adolescents and the cPTSD caused by it were suggested.

  • The purpose of the present study was to examine psychological consequences of indirect trauma exposure through the disaster news. Participants(N=439) completed some self-report questionnaires such as Posttraumatic Risk Checklist(PRC), Impact of Event Scale-Revised(IES-R), and Multidimensional Fear of Death Scale(MFODS) at 68.11(±18.47) days after the Sewol ferry disaster. The data were analyzed with structural equation modeling by AMOS 23.0 program. The results showed that fear of death and periand post-traumatic crisis factors mediated the association of news exposure immediately after disaster and posttraumatic stress symptoms. Findings in this study indicated that news exposure immediately after disaster influenced fear of death which led to the peri- and post-traumatic crisis, and these crisis factors increased posttraumatic stress symptoms. Finally, limitations of this study and suggestions for future study were discussed.

We collected data on 200 national merits of war from August 2017 to October 2017 and examined general characteristics, post traumatic stress, anxiety, and ego resilience by using SPSS 24.0 Statistics Program. Post-traumatic stress was positively correlated with anxiety (r=.426, p<.001) and negatively correlation with ego-resilience (r=-.297, p<.001), respectively. Anxiety was negatively correlated with ego-resilience (r=-.656, p<.001), and ego-resilience was found to have a moderating effect on post-traumatic stress and anxiety (F=45.796, p<.001). Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop a national education system to manage post-traumatic stress and to operate a training and management program considering the characteristics of the subjects.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore whether posttraumatic growth moderates the effects of stress on depression and quality of life in cancer survivors. Data were collected from 173 cancer survivors in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, and Jeolla provinces. We used hierarchical regression to analyze the data. As the results, first, the interaction of stress and posttraumatic growth affected depression and quality of life. It means that even though the levels of stress are high when the levels of posttraumatic growth are high, the levels of depression are lower and the levels of quality of life are higher than posttraumatic growth being low. Second, the interaction of stress and posttraumatic growth affected two sub-factors of quality of life. We discussed the interventions to reduce depression and to increase quality of life.
