  • This study investigates paths among factors influencing family relationship satisfaction of person with disability using path analysis and the 11th panel data of KoWePS(Korean Welfare Panel Study). While key independent variables include employment status, assets and depression are mediators. The result of this study are as follows: First, employment status, assets, and depression are found to have direct effect on family relationship satisfaction. Second, assets are found to have direct effect on depression. Third, we found full mediating effect of assets between employment status and depression. Fourth, we found not full but partial mediating effect of depression between assets and family relationship satisfaction. Finally, we found multiple partial mediating effects of employment status and family relationship satisfaction. The findings proposed that economic education as well as asset management targeting the disabled are required and very helpful to support their family relationship satisfaction. Based on the results of this study, we need to think about the disabled-oriented asset-building programs. This study investigates paths among factors influencing family relationship satisfaction of person with disability using path analysis and the 11th panel data of KoWePS(Korean Welfare Panel Study). • The purpose of this study is to present the effect of differences in individual coping and organizational homogeneity culture on information security compliance from an exploratory perspective. The study divided groups into individual coping (task-oriented, emotion-oriented) and organizational homogeneity culture (homogeneity, heterogeneity), confirms the difference in information security for each group through cross-design and presents a multiple mediation model between information security factors. As a result of the study, in the coping dimension, the average of the security compliance factors was higher in the emotion-oriented than the task-oriented, and in the homogeneity culture dimension, the average of the security compliance factors was higher in the homogeneity than the heterogeneity. Additionally, social influence and involvement had a multiple mediation effect on the relationship between information security awareness and compliance intention. The implications of this study were to confirm the difference in the effect of individual decision-making styles on security compliance according to the organizational culture differences. The results suggest the necessity of applying a customized information security compliance model for each organization and individual characteristics.

  • This study was conducted to confirm the growth performance of Hanwoo steers according to the crude protein and calcium levels and their effects on carcass characteristics. The experiment consisted of a total of 4 groups: HPHC (CP 15%, Ca 1.2%), HPLC (CP 15%, Ca 0.6%), LPHC (CP 12.5%, Ca 1.2%), LPLC (CP 12.5%, Ca 0.6%). In the feeding trial, Hanwoo steers (650.8±16.27 kg, n = 32, 24 months of age) were divided into four feeding groups (n = 8 each) with the same initial body weight. Animals were fed with each rice straw and concentrate (1:9) until the late fattening stage. Growth performance was measured by daily weight gain, feed conversion rate, and final weight. Carcass characteristics were measured carcass weight, loin area, back-fat thickness and marbling score. There was no significant difference in growth performance and carcass characteristics among the treatment groups. However, the ratio of meat quality grade 1+ or higher was 76% in LPLC, which was higher than other treatments (HPHC, 63%; HPLC, 63% and LPHC, 50%). Therefore, reducing crude protein in the feed did not affect growth and carcass characteristics. In addition, calcium control in the late fattening stage did not affect growth performance. In LPLC, the ratio of meat quality 1+ or higher was the highest, so additional research on calcium control in feed is thought to be necessary. However, there was no significant difference in the relationship between protein and calcium levels in feed in all study results, so the influence of the two factors on each other is thought to be low.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of copper and zinc supplementation on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, and meat and carcass characteristics in finishing pigs. A total of 72 $(Landrace{\times}Yorkshire{\times}Duroc)$ pigs (58.47 kg initial BW) were assigned to 6 treatments in a $2{\times}3$ factorial design $(Zn\;levels{\times}Cu\;levels)$. The sources of zinc and copper were Zn-methionine chelate and Cu-methionine chelate, respectively. Zinc levels used were 80 and 120 ppm and copper levels used were 10, 30 and 60 ppm. Throughout the entire experimental period, the average daily gain (ADG) and average daily feed intake (ADFI) were not significantly affected by Cu or Zn levels, or their relative levels. The G:F ratio was significantly affected by the relative levels of Cu and Zn (p<0.05), specifically at 30 ppm Cu and 120 ppm Zn. Dry matter digestibility was significantly affected by the levels of Cu (p<0.02), Zn (p<0.01) and the relative levels of each (p<0.04), in particular at 30 ppm Cu and 120 ppm Zn. Nitrogen digestibility was significantly affected by Zn levels (p<0.01) and the combination of 30 ppm Cu and 120 ppm Zn (p<0.03). The $L^*-value$, shear force, cooking loss and pH were not significantly affected by Cu levels, Zn levels or their combination. The $a^*- (p<0.04)\;and\;b^*- values (p<0.01)$ were significantly affected by Zn levels at 80 ppm. The Water hoding capacity was significantly affected by Cu and Zn in combination (p<0.01) at 10 ppm Cu and 120ppm Zn. The carcass weight, backfat thickness and carcass grade were not significantly affected by Cu levels, Zn levels or their relative levels. The carcass percentage was significantly affected by the combination (p<0.04) of 30ppm Cu and 120ppm Zn. In conclusion, dietary supplementation of Cu and Zn at 30 and 120 ppm, respectively, is effective for feed efficiency, nutrient digestibility and carcass percentage, while at the levels of Cu at 10 ppm and Zn at 120 ppm have effects on WHC.

  • In the insect industry, as the scope of application of insects is expanded from pet insects and natural enemies to feed, edible and medicinal insects, the demand for quality control of insect raw materials is increasing, and interest in securing the safety of insect products is increasing. In the process of expanding the industrial scale, controlling the temperature and humidity and air quality in the insect breeding room and preventing the spread of pathogens and other pollutants are important success factors. It requires a controlled environment under the operating system. European commercial insect breeding facilities have attracted considerable investor interest, and insect companies are building large-scale production facilities, which became possible after the EU approved the use of insect protein as feedstock for fish farming in July 2017. Other fields, such as food and medicine, have also accelerated the application of cutting-edge technology. In the future, the global insect industry will purchase eggs or small larvae from suppliers and a system that focuses on the larval fattening, i.e., production raw material, until the insects mature, and a system that handles the entire production process from egg laying, harvesting, and initial pre-treatment of larvae., increasingly subdivided into large-scale production systems that cover all stages of insect larvae production and further processing steps such as milling, fat removal and protein or fat fractionation. In Korea, research and development of insect smart factory farms using artificial intelligence and ICT is accelerating, so insects can be used as carbon-free materials in secondary industries such as natural plastics or natural molding materials as well as existing feed and food. A Korean-style customized breeding system for shortening the breeding period or enhancing functionality is expected to be developed soon.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate performance and uniformity of White Korean native ducks collected from two areas in Korea. White ducklings were selected from all ducklings that were hatched from hatchery eggs of Korean native ducks. A total of two hundred forty white ducklings (1-d-old) were used in this work and were divided into 4 groups (4 replicates/group, 15 birds/replicate) with $2{\times}2$ factors (2 groups, J, H; genders, male and female). Weekly body weight of H groups was higher than that of J groups (P<0.05). Also, weekly body weight of male ducks was higher compared to that of female at 6~8 wk old (P<0.05). Uniformity of J groups was higher than that of H groups at the age of 1 wks old (P<0.05), and that of female duck was higher than that of male at the age of 6 wks old (P<0.05). Body weight gain of H group was higher than that of J group (P<0.05), and that of male duck was higher compared to that of female at 6~7 wks old (P<0.05). Feed intake of H group was higher compared to that of J group (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between male and female on feed intake. On feed conversion ratio, J group was higher than H group at 4~5 wks, 7~8 wks and 0~8 wks old (P<0.05), and feed conversion ratio of male duck was higher than that of female at 1~2 wks, 5~6 wks and 6~7 wks old. Finally, these results was tended to show that performance of H groups was higher than that of J groups. Further researches need to carry out to commercial White Korean native ducks on performance and uniformity as well as meat quality and genetic characteristic.

  • This work was carried out to investigate the effects of CDDGS (corn distillers dried grains with solubles) colors and phytase levels on the amino acid digestibility of broilers for 7 days. One hundred eight Ross broilers were used in 9 treatment groups with a $3\;{\times}\;3$ factorial design as three colors of DDGSs (DDGS1, DDGS2, and DDGS3) in combination with phytase (0, 500, and 1,000 FTU/kg). The $L^*$ values of DDGS1, DDGS2, and DDGS3 were 55.2, 39.8, and 28.3; the $a^*$ values, 8.8, 7.5, and 6.1; and the $b^*$ values, 41.3, 27.1, and 15.4, respectively. The ileal digestibility of amino acids was decreased as DDGS color was dark, and increased as additive phytase level was increased in the diet. Average digestibilities of essential amino acids were 67.6~80.0%, and those of nonessential amino acids 67.4~77.3. Amino acid digestibility was low in the dark DDGS with no phytase in the diet.

  • This study was carried out to investigate effect of education for breastfeeding on practice of breastfeeding 171 primiparae (experimental group with education 83 and control group without education 88) who gave birth in hospitals located in Taegu City from October 25, 1999 to December 25, 1999 and planned to breastfeed their children after childbirth. The results of this study were as follows. 1) The experimental group's practice rate of breast-feeding was statistically higher than the control group's at the points of two weeks, four weeks, eight weeks and twelve weeks after childbirth(p<0.05). However, the rate at the points of sixteen weeks and twenty weeks after childbirth was higher in the experimental group than in the control group but there was no significant difference between both groups. 2) The experimental group's discontinuance rate of breast-feeding was lower than the control group's at all the points of two weeks, four weeks, eight weeks, twelve weeks, sixteen weeks and twenty weeks after childbirth, and it was statistically significant(p<0.05). The discontinuance rate of breast-feeding at the point of four weeks after childbirth was the highest in both groups. It accounted for 25.5% in the experimental group and 36.8% in the control group. 3) The reason of which the rate appeared to be the highest among those for discontinuance of breast-feeding was the lack of breast milk. The rate accounted for 65.5% in the experimental group and 50.7% in the control group. In conclusion, the study suggested that the education for encouraging breast-feeding provided to the primiparae after childbirth has an positive effect on the practice of breast-feeding.
