This study is intended to implement an e-Learning system assisted class for the dress unit in the subject of technology & home economics in the middle school. This class is aimed at making teaching-learning in the dress unit effective, triggering students' interest in it, enhancing their understanding and offering basic materials for the e-Learning development about clothing instruction in the subject of technology & home economics. To make the concrete situational learning effective and provide realistic learning environments, learning contents were implemented so that the learners themselves could manipulate the contents by clicking. How to wear clothing according to learners' individuality was presented in order to trigger the learners' attention and motivation using the latest clothing pictures from the Internet shopping mall, and the dress fashion pictures of their peers. The result of this study can be summed up as follows. First, the implementation of learning materials with which simulation manipulation and visualization were possible could make the students reach the learning goals easily. Second, teaching-learning activity could be made more effective using audios, images and moving pictures rather than written texts. Third, learning the dress unit, which is especially related with a new fashion, made the most of the advantage of e-Learning by providing realistic and lively learning materials in a timely manner. And it triggered learners' motivation by providing pictures or moving pictures related with their real life. Based on these research results, this study suggests further research to develop e-Learning contents using various multimedia authoring tools as well as the ones applied to this study in learning the dress unit. It also suggests that the database of teaching-learning materials be constructed to securely prepare abundant instruction materials.

The purpose of this study is to develop and implement new classes using the concept of personal color system to the section 'Daily Outfits & Clothing Acquisition' in the 2015 revision of middle school home economics curriculum, and find out the effects on middle school students. For this, We redesigned a curriculum for 'Clothing Outfits and Self-Expression' part using personal color system, developed teaching/learning plans and teaching/learning materials, and examined the changes in self-identity, attitude in clothing life, and class satisfaction among students at the end of the class. The results of this research are as follows. After the implementation of 'Daily Outfits & Clothing Acquisition' unit classes which included the concept of personal color system, the students' self-identity and attitude in clothing life were improved. And according to the results of the individual interviews, students were generally satisfied with the class. If the 'Daily Outfits & Clothing Acquisition' unit classes using personal color system is widely used in middle school home economics classes, it can have positive impacts on adolescents and is expected to be of great help to home economics teachers as a valuable class material.

Various types of students activities presented in the clothing part of the current 'Technology Home Economics' middle school textbooks were analyzed to provide basic idea for improving the quality of content of text, which can arouse students' interest and practical use. Analysis was conducted for the units related to clothing contained in 10 different technology & home economics textbooks of 2nd grade middle school students approved by the Ministry of Education under the 7th national curriculum. Types of student activities were categorized based on "size of groups", "type of problems" and "methods of carrying out tasks" and the this study sought to explore future directions for action plans especially in terms of composition of contents, the methods of performance and suggestions. As a result, the volume of each part in clothing & textiles section was investigated. Among them 'dressing' part was found to make up the largest percentage of the clothing unit. And among the six of the detailed contents, "How to Wear Traditional Korean Clothes" and "Functions of Clothes", took up the largest space. In additions, the types of students activities and methods of implementing and how to performing tasks vary depending on publishing companies and detailed contents of areas. As a result, 'individual activities', 'structured problem', and 'problems that require prior home-based experience' were most common types of activities. Based on this study, it is suggested to increase the number of small group activities and the activities that require diverse problem-solving methods.

The object of this study was to find out the influence of juvenile self-consciousness on the importance of unit 'clothing and self-express' in technology home economics curriculum and appearance management behavior. Questionnaires were administered to 244 middle school students living in Deagu metropolitan City. Frequency, factor analysis, reliability analysis, regression analysis, and ${\chi}^2-test$ were used for data analysis. Our findings are as follows. Self-consciousness had factors as privately and socially self-consciousness and social anxiety. The factors of the importance of unit 'Clothing and self-express' were clothing, self-express and excellence in traditional clothing. Appearance management behavior had factors as appearance management, plastic surgery interest, diet importance, health focus and eating habit. Self-consciousness was found to have significant effects on the factors of the importance of unit 'Clothing and self-express', and self-consciousness on factors of appearance management behavior. The differences by gender of middle students was examined in clothing and textile interest, clothing and textile unit interest and knowledge acquisition route.

This study is intended to provide fundamental information to improve the quality of student activities presented in the Clothing & Textiles How to Dress Appropriately' section of the current middle school 'Technology Home Economics' textbooks so that Home Economics may better reflect students' interests, making it applicable in real life. The survey was conducted to 154 male and 160 female students on their preferences regarding student activities. The results are as follows. First, students who like clothing & textiles section regard "Opportunities to take part in various kinds of practices and student activities" as the major reason for preference. And the single biggest reason why they dislike the unit was due to "Too much contents to be memorized." Among various contents regarding dress in the unit, "How to Wear Clothes That Look Good on Me, and the Right Ways to Wear Them" attracted the most attention, regardless of what contents they consider necessary, interesting, or helpful in real life. Second, as for the time of implementation of the activities, students preferred "End of each class". They also preferred small-group activities (group size), well-structured problems (type of problems) and tasks that require analysis based on theoretical principles through experiments and practices (methods of implementation). Third, the findings as to the actual experience of conducting the student activities indicated that, in most cases, student activities were conducted in accordance to what was suggested in the textbooks, but not to what the students preferred. Therefore, in order to make home economics more applicable to students, it is desirable to focus on their everyday lives as is favored by the students, and increase small-group activities. Also, suggesting various and comprehensive problematic situations such as non-structured, open-ended problems and encouraging diverse implementation would be helpful in improving students' critical and creative thinking abilities.

The purpose of this study was to develop teaching-learning plans for the 7th grade technology-home economics classes, applying situated learning theory. In addition, the effect of developed teaching-learning plans were examined, in terms of students' perception and attitude toward clothing habits and the degree of satisfaction with the lessons. In order to carry out the research, the teaching-learning plans for the 3 lessons on "clothing and self-expression" unit were developed. Experimental study was done at a middle school in Seoul to examine the effect of the teachig-learning plans developed based on the situated learning theory. Two classes taught with the developed teaching-learning plans served as a experiment group, and another two classes taught with traditional lecture-based plans served as a control group. As a result, teaching-learning plans developed based on situated learning theory had a positive impact on students' satisfaction with the lessons and the perception and attitude toward clothing habits.

The objective of this study investigated characteristics and developed the teaching models elements of creativity and personality education in home economics education based on its identity and nature. Above all, I investigated premises and assumptions of creativity and personality education in home economics education through literary consideration, and then found out eighteen creativity and personality elements. Thus, I proposed Practical Problem Solving Learning Model, Creative Problem Solving Learning Model, Inquiry Learning Model, and Role Playing Model(experience study) in 'Clothing and self-expression' unit. The study identified that creativity and personality education meets nature of home economics education and strengthens the basics of the creativity and personality education in home economics education. In the future, I recommend the activation of philosophical debating of the creativity and personality education, various class models of creative and personality education, and follow-up study of the creative and personality education.

This study analyzed the 12 different technology home economics textbooks I, II for middle school students and the content systems of the textbooks by 7 instructional strategies in Reigeluth's elaboration theory. The units analyzed were 'Clothing and self-expression' and 'Eco-friendly clothing life and recycling by reform'. The purpose of this study was to provide basic information for the development of textbooks and teaching materials by analyzing current textbooks. Researchers analyzed the textbooks individually using pre-developed analysis frame using Reigeluth's elaboration theory. The results of the study were as follows. The conceptual elaboration process was used in the unit of 'Clothing and self-expression' of all the textbooks used in this study, and procedural elaboration process was mostly used in the unit of 'Eco-friendly clothing life and recycling by reform'. The strategies of advance learning ability were presented mostly in the forms of 'Learning Objective', 'Thought Opening', 'Key terms' in either unit and sub unit. The strategies of summarizer were presented as 'Unit Summary', 'Cleanup' and 'Assessment'. The strategies of synthesizer were used in all the textbooks as the 'Exploration' to increase the students interest through the promotion of the learning content in a variety of activities and projects. The cognitive activator strategies were shown in all of the textbooks using mostly 'Figure,' and others such as 'Table,' 'Diagram', and 'Explanation of Terms'. The strategies of learner control were used to guide the supplement and deepen the learning by various forms. However the analogy strategies were hardly used in units of textbooks analyzed in this study. As a result, the technology home economics textbooks I, II for middle school students applied the Reigeluth's elaboration theory, except the analogy strategies. It is recommended to utilize th analogy strategies and various activities to enhance the students' understanding and participation.

We investigated the extent of recognition and the rate of class practice on the contents relevant to the environmental education in the units of 'Clothing Life' of the 7th 'Technology-Home Economics' curriculum in Korean middle school teachers. Two hundred sixty teachers, who had taught the units of 'Clothing Life' and responded to the questionnaires by mail from December 2007 to January 2008, were enrolled and each item in the questionnaires was analyzed in this study. Most teachers recognized the serious environmental issues in their residential area resulting in a harmful influence on their lives. Also they exhibited increased practice will such as joining to the environmental organizations and showed high practice of the environmental preservation. They commented relatively high rate of class practice on the contents relevant to the environmental education and enhanced practice of the environmental preservation in all units of 'Clothing Life' of the 7th 'Technology-Home Economics' curriculum except the units of 'Clothing Skill and Dress Clothes' and 'Simple Clothes Making'. Moreover, teachers with higher age and longer teaching career had the higher level of recognition and the greater rate of class practice on the environmental education compared to those without. Teachers should try to raise the students' recognition and practice will on the environmental issues in the class of 'Clothing Life' of the 7th 'Technology-Home Economics' curriculum in Korean middle school.

The Purposes of this study are first to develop the teaching and learning plan for the dress part in high school's Home Economics by the application of the values clarification theory then to apply it to the classroom activities. and lastly to analyze its effects. We developed the master plan for teaching and learning, and developed the 12 hour sub plans including 7 activities and learning materials. The effects of the teaching are as followings: First, When the self-esteem was compared with the whole classes, there was no difference between the twos, but a boy and a girl who were observed as not making a value-oriented life marked higher score in answering the self-esteem. Second. It was found that values clarification theory made student's degree of participation and interest higher and helped them to choose their dresses in the real life.
