Development of Transient Behavior Simulation Tool and Analysis of Gas Turbines (발전용 가스터빈 동적 거동 시뮬레이션 Tool 개발 및 해석)

  • A program for analyzing the transient behaviors of industrial gas turbines was developed. Each component (compressor, combustor, turbine and ducts)of gas turbine is modeled as a fully module to enhance the expandability of the program. We used object-oriented programing for this purpose. The mass and energy balance equations are solved numerically by Multivariable Newton Raphson method. The characteristic maps for the compressor and turbine were used for predicting the performance of a gas turbine engine. Combustion in the combustor is assumed to be complete combustion. PID control is used to maintain constant rotational speed and turbine exhaust temperature by the control of the fuel flow rate and the changing of the compressor inlet guide vane angle at the same time. It was confirmed that stable control of the gas turbine was possible, even for a rapid load change.

그래핀-탄소나노튜브 복합체로 제작한 유연성 투명 전도막의 반복 변형에 대한 내구성 향상

  • 유연성 투명 전도막은 현대 전자산업의 발전에 있어 필수적인 부품소재로서, 가시광선의 투과율이 80% 이상이고 면저항이 $100{\Omega}/sq.$ 전후이며 휘거나 접히고 나아가 두루마리의 형태로도 응용이 가능한 소재를 일컫는다. 이러한 유연성 투명 전도막은 차세대 정보디스플레이 산업 및 유비쿼터스 사회의 중심이 되는 유연성 디스플레이, 터치패널, 발광다이오드, 태양전지 등 매우 다양한 분야에 응용이 기대된다. 이러한 이유로 고 신뢰성 유연성 투명 전도막 개발기술은 차세대 산업에 있어서의 핵심기술로 인식되고 있다. 현재로서는 인듐 주석 산화물(indium tin oxide; ITO) 및 전도성 유기고분자를 사용하여 투명 전도막을 제조하고 있으나, ITO 박막의 경우 인듐 자원의 고갈로 인한 가격상승 및 기판과의 낮은 접착력, 열팽창계수의 차이로 인한 공정상의 문제, 산화물 특유의 취성으로 인한 유연소자로서의 내구성 저하 등의 문제가 제기되고 있다. 전도성 유기고분자의 경우는 낮은 전기전도도와 기계적강도, 유기용매 처리 등의 문제점이 지적되고 있다. 따라서 높은 전기전도도와 투광도 뿐만 아니라 유연성을 지니는 재료의 개발이 요구되고 있는 실정이다. 최근 이러한 재료로서 그래핀(graphene)과 탄소나노튜브(carbon nanotube; CNT)를 중심으로 하는 탄소나노재료가 주목받고 있으며 많은 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 열화학기상증착법(thermal vapor deposition; TCVD)으로 합성된 그래핀 및 CNT를 이용하여 탄소나노재료 복합체 기반의 유연성 투명 전도막을 제작하고 그 특성을 평가하였다. 그래핀과 CNT합성을 위한 기판으로는 각각 300 nm 두께의 니켈과 1 nm 철이 증착된 실리콘 웨이퍼를 이용하였으며, 원료가스로는 메탄(CH4)과 아세틸렌(C2H2)등의 탄화수소가스를 이용하였다. 그래핀의 경우 원료가스의 유량, 합성온도, 냉각속도를 변경하여 대면적으로 두께균일도가 높은 그래핀을 합성하였으며, CNT의 경우 합성시간을 변수로 길이 제어합성을 도모하였다. 합성된 그래핀은 식각공정을, CNT는 스프레이 증착공정을 통해 고분자 기판(polyethylene terephthalate; PET) 위에 순차적으로 전사 및 증착하여 탄소나노재료 복합체 기반의 유연성 투명 전도막을 제작하였다. 제작된 탄소나노재료 복합체 기반의 유연성 투명 전도막은 물리적 과부하를 받았을 때 발생할 수 있는 유연성 투명 전도막의 구조적결함에 기인하는 전도성 저하를 보상하는 특징이 있어, 그래핀과 탄소나노튜브 각각으로 제조된 유연성 투명 전도막보다 물리적인 하중이 반복적으로 인가되었을 때 내구성이 향상되는 효과가 있다. 40% 스트레인을 반복적으로 인가하였을 때 그래핀 투명 전도막은 20 사이클 이후에 면저항이 $1-2{\Omega}/sq.$에서 $15{\Omega}/sq.$ 이상으로 급증한 반면 그래핀-CNT 복합체 투명 전도막은 30사이클까지 $1-2{\Omega}/sq.$ 정도의 면저항을 유지하였다.

Process Optimization of Red Pepper Drying for the Improvement of Drying Efficiency (건조효율 향상을 위한 고추건조공정의 최적화)

  • Drying process in a fixed bed red pepper dryer was modeled and simulated. Drying efficiency describing the effectiveness of energy usage in red pepper drying was defined as a ratio of energy used for moisture evaporation to total energy consumption, and expressed in combination of measurable temperature variables. The efficiency was compared with real evaporative efficiency and tested in the simulated and experimental drying. An overall drying efficiency was derived, and analyzed for various control variables consisting of drying temperature, air recycle ratio and air flow rate. Optimal operation conditions of drying was then searched by Box's complex method by using it as an objective function. Carotenoids retention was simulated and put as a constraint of product quality in the optimization. The optimization results gave that two staged drying operation could improve the ding efficiency compared with single staged drying. As a technique for further energy saving automatic termination of drying appeared feasible by monitoring an exit air temperature from dryer.

  • With the development of the information communication industry, the size of the communication device has been reduced to a system that generates a large amount of heat. Therefore, since the amount of heat generated by the wireless equipment is large in the wireless base station, the energy consumption is continuously consumed and the failure of the wireless base station may occur. Therefore, in this study, The study was analyzed. As a research method, we performed base station with a lot of calorific value and electric charge. We selected 25 base stations and obtained data for two weeks. To ensure reliability, the room temperature was kept constant at $27^{\circ}C$, and the control system was installed and equiped for two weeks to obtain the date analysis. In order to calculate the test results in the study method, the instrument was used with a computer, a digital thermometer, and dust measurement. For the date analysis, we conducted a research study on 25 wireless basestations before and after the installation of Control Sysetm.

  • In this research, the problem of combustion and its system in Hyundai Heavy Industries and Sachuan Unison will be analyzed in order to provide some methods of thermal efficiency improvement and help to make a positive influence on fuel savings and their productivity. In forging industries, in order to improve the material properties of the industrial heating elements which are being used, depending on different operation conditions of system equipment and combustion systems, fuel consumption and material properties can get a profound influence. Thus, analyzing about combustion system characteristics of 100 tons heating furnace and heat treatment furnace which are in operation in Hyundai Heavy Industry will be done. In usual, air-fuel ratio is proper for capacity of burner installed in each heating device, otherwise burner gets an automatic turn down ratio. It has a profound influence on heating performance and precision of temperature because it is the fixed characteristics of every industrial furnace. Even if there are some methods to improve the heating performance of a furnace installed with a large capacity burner, it is very difficult to obtain the precision of temperature in maintenance interval. Based on this, performance of burner can be drove to best by improving combustion system. Proper Combustion characteristic for each heating interval was analyzed in heating furnace in Hyundai Heavy Industry. A project plan for improving fuel savings and increasing precision of temperature was presented in this research.

  • In EMC(electromagnetic compatibility) certification, the facilities and equipments have been considered as important qualification for registration of EMC certification business. In future, the certification environment is also supposed to be restricted Strictly. Many organizations have made on attempt to establish, certification environment as a international standard. Therefore, in order to enhance the competitive powers of domestic certification industry, a real-time system which can be measure automatically and remotely the temperature, humidity, illumination, CO/CO2, magnetic field, and human sensing is proposed in this paper. This system can also maintain the appropriate measurement environment by using USN (ubiquitous sensor network). The availabilities are confirmed through the experiment.

  • Although sawdust cultivation of shiitake (Lentinula edodes) is becoming more common, it is insufficiently competitive in spring and autumn, the best time to breed shiitake. Thus, it is urgently needed to develop a technique for all year round cultivation of shiitake using mushroom growing beds. In the present study, the temperature changes according to the location of shiitake cultivation facilities were investigated. We confirmed that a refrigerator, an air conditioner, triple membranes, shiitake cultivation beds, fog nozzles which were installed in the shiitake cultivation facilities play an important role in keeping the low temperature. Bag cultivation of shiitake was tested in temperature variation from $14^{\circ}C$ to $29^{\circ}C$ with a $3^{\circ}C$ interval to know its cultivating temperature range in hot summer season. In summary, the sawdust cultivation of shiitake is possible when the temperature difference between top and bottom is maintained below $1^{\circ}C$. And the temperature of the shiitake cultivation facilities should be maintained below $23^{\circ}C$ in the induction period for fruitbody formation.

Experimental Study on Energy Saving through FAN Airflow Control in the Generator Room of a 9200-ton Training Ship (9200톤급 실습선 발전기실 FAN 송풍유량 제어를 통한 선박에너지 절약에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • As a part of the global industrial efforts to reduce environmental pollution owing to air pollution, regulations have been established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The IMO has implemented various regulations such as EEXI, EEDI, and CII to reduce air pollution emissions from ships. They are also promoting measures to decrease the power consumption in ships, aiming to conserve energy. Most of the power used in ships is consumed by electric motors. Among the motors installed on ships, the engine room blower that takes up a significant load, operates at a constant irrespective of demand. Therefore, energy savings can be expected through frequency control. In this study, we demonstrated the efficacy of energy savings by controlling the frequency of the electric motor of the generator blower that supplies combustion air to the generator's turbocharger. The system was modeled based on the output data of the turboharger outlet temperature in response to the blower frequency inpu. A PI control system was established to control the frequency with the target being the turbocharger outlet temperature. By maintaining the turbocharger design standard outlet temperature and controlling the blower frequency, we achieved an annual energy saving of 15,552kW in power consumption. The effectiveness of energy savings through frequency control of blower fans was verified during the summer (April to September) and winter (March to October) periods. Based on this, we achieved annual fuel cost savings of 6,091 thousand won and reduction of 8.5 tons of carbon dioxide, 2.4 kg of SOx, and 7.8 kg of NOx air pollutants on the training ship.

Prediction of Concrete Temperature and Its Effects on Continuously Reinforcement Concrete Pavement Behavior at Early Ages (초기재령에서 연속철근콘크리트포장 거동에 콘크리트 온도의 영향과 예측)

  • Transverse cracks in continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) occur at early ages due to temperature and moisture variations. The width and spacing of transverse cracks have a significant effect on pavement performance such as load transfer efficiency and punchout development. Also, crack widths in CRCP depend on 'zero-stress temperature,' which is defined as a temperature where initial concrete stresses become zero, as well as drying shrinkage of concrete. For good long-term performance of CRCP, transverse cracks need to be kept tight. To keep the crack widths tight throughout the pavement life, zero-stress temperature must be as low as practically possible. Thus, temperature control at early ages is a key component In ensuring good CRCP performance. In this study, concrete temperatures were predicted using PavePro, a concrete temperature prediction program, for a CRCP construction project, and those values were compared with actual measured temperatures obtained from field testing. The cracks were also surveyed for 12 days after concrete placement. Findings from this study can be summarized as follows. First, the actual maximum temperatures are greater than the predicted maximum temperature in the ranges of 0.2 to 4.5$^{\circ}C$. For accurate temperature predictions, hydration properties of cementitious materials such as activation energy and adiabatic constants, should be evaluated and accurate values be obtained for use as input values. Second, within 24 hours of concrete placement, temperatures of concrete placed in the morning are higher than those placed in the afternoon, and the maximum concrete temperature occurred in the concrete placed at noon. Finally, from the 12 days of condition survey, it was noted that the rate of crack occurrence in the morning placed section was 25 percent greater than that in the afternoon placed section. Based on these findings, it is concluded that maximum concrete temperature has a significant effect on crack development, and boner concrete temperature control is needed to ensure adequate CRCP performance.
