The purpose of this study is increasing ventilation network usability for urban green space planning by enhancing its practicality and detail. A ventilation network feature extraction technique using roughness length($z_0$) was proposed. Continuously surfaced DZoMs generated from $z_0$(cadastral unit) using three interpolations(IDW, Spline, and Kriging) were compared to choose the most suitable interpolation method. Ventilation network features were extracted using the most suitable interpolation technique and studied with land cover and land surface temperature by spatial overlay comparison. Results show Kriging is most suitable for DZoM and feature extraction in comparison with IDW and Spline. Kriging based features are well fit to the land surface temperature(Landsat-7 ETM+) on summer and winter nights. Noteworthy is that the produced ventilation network appears to mitigate urban heat loads at night. The practical use of proposed ventilation network features are highly expected for urban green space planning, though strict validation and enhancement should follow. (1) $z_0$ enhancement, (2) additional ventilation network interpretation and editing, (3) linking disconnected ventilation network features, and (4) associated dataset enhancement with data integrity should technically preceded to enhance the applicability of a ventilation network for green space planning. The study domain will be expanded to the Seoul metropolitan area to apply the proposed ventilation network to green space planning practice.

This study was conducted to analyze the effect of climate change on the tree-ring growth of Pinus koraiensis in Korea. Annual tree-ring growth data of P. koraiensis collected by the $5^{th}$ National Forest Inventory were first organized to analyze yearly growth patterns of the species. When tree-ring growth data were analyzed through cluster analysis based on similarity of climatic conditions, five clusters were identified. Yearly growing degree days and standard precipitation index based on daily mean temperature and precipitation data from 1951 to 2010 were calculated by cluster. Using the information, yearly temperature effect index(TEI) and precipitation effect index(PEI) by cluster were estimated to analyze the effect of climatic conditions on the growth of the species. Tree-ring growth estimation equations by cluster were developed by using the product of yearly TEI and PEI as independent variable. The tree-ring growth estimation equations were applied to the climate change scenarios of RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5 for predicting the changes in tree-ring growth by cluster of P. koraiensis from 2011 to 2100. The results of this study are expected to provide valuable information necessary for estimating local growth characteristics of P. koraiensis and for predicting changes in tree-ring growth patterns caused by climate change.

The objectives of this study were to investigate the standard and roof vent type of multi-span greenhouse and to analyze the characteristics of natural ventilation of multi-span greenhouse with different roof vent using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code. The vent area proportion of surveyed farms averaged 10%, it was analyzed that the vent design for natural ventilation is insufficient. The results of natural ventilation efficiency of multi-span greenhouse according to roof vent type showed that the temperature of the position in which the crops grew was the lowest in the conical roof vent type and the highest in the half conical roof vent type. For the natural ventilation effect, the conical roof vent type was the best one, but the structural stability should be evaluated in light of wind load.
We present results of CO observations toward an infrared (IR) source, IRAS 07280-1829, and its possibly related molecular clouds. The physical parameters of this IR source such as its infrared slope (${\alpha}$=16) of the Spectral Energy Distribution and bolometric temperature (145 K) indicate that it is an embedded protostar. Its luminosity is ${\sim}2.9{\times}10^4L_{\odot}$, typical of a massive star. The CO profile toward IRAS 07280-1829 has broad wing components, implying a possible existence of CO outflow. The excitation temperature and mass of a molecular cloud (Cloud A) which is thought to harbor the IR source are estimated to be 9~22 K and ~180 $M_{\odot}$, respectively, indicating the Cloud A is a typical infrared-dark cloud. Its LTE mass is found to be much smaller than its virial mass by more than a factor of 10 which is inconsistent with the fact that a protostar recently formed exists in the Cloud A. This may suggest that the environment of the cloud where the IR source is forming is dominant of turbulence and/or magnetic filed, making its virial mass estimated unusually high.
Rotary kiln burner has been developed continuously to improve process efficiency and exhaust emission. In this study, the characteristics of the flame and exhaust emission were numerically analyzed according to the diameter of primary air nozzle, equivalent ratio of burner, and equivalent ratio at center and side nozzle for development of multi-nozzle burner in the COG(Coke Oven Gas) rotary kiln for sintering iron ore. The results indicated that the flame length and $NO_x$ emission increase, as the diameter of primary air nozzle and equivalent ratio of burner increase. And according to the change of equivalent ratio at the center and the side of the nozzle, the flame length and average temperature in the kiln show very little change but the $NO_x$ emission shows obvious difference. In conclusion, the best design conditions which have satisfying flame length, average temperature and $NO_x$ emission are as follows: $D_2/D_1$ is 1.33, equivalent ratio of burner is 1.25 and center nozzle conditions are Rich.

The purpose of study is to obtain basic but important information for the operation of the greenhouse facility located in the suburb of town. Special emphasis is given on the aspect of energy saving method, which can be easilyapplicable in a practical sense. For this end numerical calculation has been made systematically in order to increase the energy efficiency by the evaluation of the temperature distribution in greenhouse. Major parameters considered are primarily the overall shape of greenhouse together with the various conditions of baffle installion inside greenhouse. Further, the performance of heating system is also carefully compared each other for a number of typical arrangements of heating duct. The performance of the computer program developed in this study is evaluated by the observation of the famous fluid trapping phenomenon occurred in staggered baffle condition in the enclosure of greenhouse. Based on the this study, a number of useful conclusions can be drawn, that is, the installation of baffles are quite effective in energy saving method with a minor modification of facility. Also, it is found that the change of the heating duct system can contribute significantly to the uniform temperature distribution in greenhouse. Further other findings obtained by numerical calculation were not only physically consistent and meaningful but also useful for the determination of optimum condition of practical operation of greenhouse.
This study aimed to investigate the chemical properties and production techniques for white wares from the Gwirae-1ri 3rd, Songok-3ri 2nd kiln sites in Kangwon Wonju regions. Further, another aim was to determine the correlation among the materials used to produce the white wares. The analysis of white wares in Kangwon Wonju regions produced the following results. The excavated white wares were analyzed using the Seger formula, and all the samples showed similar clay sources ($RO_2:4.33-5.82$, $RO+R_2O:0.32-0.43$) and glaze sources. Moreover, the white wares were made of host rocks of the same geological origin, according to the results of the rare earth elements analysis. When the crystalline phases of the white wares were investigated via the XRD analysis, quartz and mullite were found in all the samples, and their proportions were similar to each other. Although the firing temperatures for the samples were different, most were fired at a temperature below $1,200^{\circ}C$, with some being fired at temperatures as low as $1,000{\pm}20^{\circ}C$.
Surface emissivity and its background values according to each sensor are mandatorily necessary for Mid-Wavelength Infrared (MWIR) remote sensing to retrieve surface temperature and temporal variation. This study presents the methods and results of Land Surface Emissivity (LSE) of the MWIR according to land cover over the Korean Peninsula. The MWIR emissivity was estimated by applying the Temperature Independent Spectral Indices (TISI) method to the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) band 4 Day/Night images ($3.74{\mu}m$ in center wavelength). The obtained values were classified according to land-cover types, and the obtained emissivity was then compared with those calculated from a standard Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) spectral library. The annual means of MWIR emissivity of Deciduous Broadleaf Forest (0.958) and Mixed Forest (0.935) are higher than those of Croplands (0.925) and Natural Vegetation Mosaics (0.935) by about 2-3%. The annual mean of Urban area is the lowest (0.914) with an annual variation of about 2% which is by larger than those (1%) of other land-covers. The TISI and VIIRS based emissivity is slightly lower than the ASTER spectral library by about 2-3% supposedly due to various reasons such as lack of land cover homogeneity. The results will be used to understand the MWIR emissivity properties of the Korean Peninsula and to examine the seasonal and other environmental changes using MWIR images.
Branched polycarbonates (B-PCs) were synthesized using melt polymerization method with four different end capping agents and vaying concentrations. The chemical structure of the synthesized PC was determined by FT-IR and $^{1}H-NMR$ spectroscopy, and the reaction of the end capping agent was confirmed by the existence of hydroxy group in FT-IR spectrum. The average molecular weight and distribution, glass transition and degradation temperatures were determined by GPC, DSC and TGA. The average molecular weight changed with the chemical structure of end capping agent, and 4-tert-butylphenol was estimated as the optimum end capping agent. The average molecular weights of B-PCs decreased with the increase of the concentration of the agent, the number average molecular weight represented 20000 when 0.05 mol% of 4-tert-butylphenol was added to B-PCs. The melt viscosities of the B-PCs decreased with the decrease of the molecular weight of B-PCs, and adding of the agent was not effected to shear thinning tendency.
This study examined the physicochemical properties of rice embryo in order to investigate the antioxidative effect of black rice bran pigment fraction on rice embryo lipid oxidation. Color stability of rice bran pigment fraction and acid value of added rice embryo were determined at various conditions of pH, temperature, and storage time. Rice embryo contained more crude protein (22.1%) compared to the rice bran (9.4%). However, rice embryo had a higher lipid content than rice bran, causing lipid oxidation during storage. Pigment fraction were relatively stable in acidic pH of 3.0 stored at $4^{\circ}C$ for 9 days. Rice embryo showed increased acid value with increased storage time and temperature. Furthermore, rice embryo with pigment fraction resulted in lower acid value compared to the control group. Therefore, addition of black rice bran pigment fractions to rice embryo improved storage capacity.
