  • 우리의 삶과 환경에 많은 영향을 주는 냄새들을 해석하고 이들을 감지하는 후각기관에 대한 이해는 많은 연구자들의 오랜 소망 이였다. 최근 전자 공학 및 컴퓨터 기술의 눈부신 발전에 힘입어 인간의 감각을 모방하는 전자코 시스템의 개발이 활발하게 추진되고 있다. 특히 인공지능 연구와 맞물린 센서기술의 비약적인 발전은 냄새를 인간의 후각기관과 비슷하게 감지하고 분석할 수 있는 인공 후각인식시스템의 개발을 가능하게 하고 있다. 하지만 현재 전자코 시스템은 습도와 온도에 민감하고 시료를 분석하기 위해 긴 응답시간이 필요하므로 연구소와 같이 제한적인 환경에서 사용되고 잇다. 이에 본 연구는 10초 내외의 짧은 시간에 인식이 가능한 전자코 시스템을 제작하고자 하였다.

Simulation for Fuel Droplet Evaporation in Cylinder (실린더내의 연료 액적의 기화 과정에 관한 수치 연구)

  • In this study, a numerical method for fuel droplet evaporation in cylinder of S.I. engine is presented. This study was newly defined non-dimensional critical droplet lifetime and modeled heating and evaporation processes of fuel droplet during intake and compression stroke of gasoline engine. The simulation results show that simultaneous increase of gas temperature and pressure in compression stroke seems to have compensative effect on droplet gasification rate. The environment variations in cylinder have little effect on the fuel droplet gasification process. The droplet size for full evaporation at the end of compression stroke can be estimated using this program.

  • Propellant pressurization system in liquid rocket propulsion system plays a role supplying pressurant gas at a controlled pressure into the ullage space of propellant tanks. The most important design parameter for such propellant pressurization system is the temperature of pressurant gas fed from pressurant tank. Such pressurant is gaseous state, of which density is very sensitive to the temperature of pressurant. Generally for the propulsion system, which requires high thrust and is consisted of cryogenic propellant the pressurant is stored at high density and high pressure to reduce the weight of pressurant tanks, which are placed inside of cryogenic propellant tank. That is called cryogenic storage pressurization system. This study investigates the temperature variation of pressurant at the time when the pressurant is coming out of pressurant tank experimentally as well as numerically. Fluids used in this study are air and liquid oxygen as outer fluid and gaseous nitrogen and gaseous helium as pressurant respectively.

Effect of Growing Part Following Local Heating for Cherry Tomato on Temperature Distribution of Crop and Fuel Consumption (방울토마토 생장부 추종 국소난방이 군락 온도분포 및 연료소비에 미치는 영향)

  • Local heating system providing hot air locally to growing parts including shoot apex and flower cluster which were temperature-sensitive organs of cherry tomato was developed to reduce energy consumption for greenhouse heating without decline of crop growth. Growing part following local heating system was composed of double duct distributer which connected inner and outer ducts with hot air heater and winder which moved ducts up and down following growing parts with plant growth. Growing part local heating system was compared with conventional bottom duct heating system with respect to distributions of air and leaf surface temperatures according to height, growth characteristics and energy consumption. By growing part local heating, air temperature around growing part was maintained $0.9{\sim}2.0^{\circ}C$ higher than that of lower part of crop and leaf surface temperature was also stratified according to height. Investigations on crop growth characteristics and crop yield showed no statistically significant difference except for plant height between bottom duct heating and growing part local heating. As a result, the growing part local heating system consumed 23.7% less heating energy than the bottom duct heating system without decrease of crop yield.

A Study on Changes in Body Surface Temperature and Thermal Effect According to Ultrasound Mode (초음파 진단모드에 따른 체표면 온도변화와 열효과에 관한 고찰)

  • Recently, as the number of high-risk pregnancies increases, the use of new techniques such as Doppler, which have higher acoustic power than in the past, has been increasingly used in prenatal diagnosis and guidelines have been set up by various organizations to prevent excessive exposure. Therefore, in this study, we tried to investigate the temperature change of the body surface for each test mode according to the long time ultrasound examination and to examine the exposure time which is not influenced by the thermal effect. B mode, C mode, and PD mode according to time, and the temperature difference between exposed and unexposed sites were compared. As a result, the B mode showed a significant difference in the temperature change from 10 minutes, 50 minutes after exposed, 20 minutes from the C mode, and 30 minutes from the PD mode (p<0.01). In all three modes, the temperature difference was different (p<0.000), and PD mode was the most sensitive to temperature change. Also, it was found that the temperature rise time was shortened with the increase of the ultrasonic exposure time. Therefore, it is recommended that ultrasonography to observe the embryo or fetus should be used only for diagnostic purposes, avoiding excessive test time.

  • 산업의 발달과 환경에 대한 관심이 높아짐에 따라 고효율, 저공해인 가스터빈의 응용범위가 넓어지고 있는 추세이다. 가스터빈 기관의 효율을 높이기 위해서는 터빈 입구온도를 높이는 것이 필수적인데 이는 재질에 의해 제한 받게 되고 이 때문에 효과적인 냉각방법의 필요성이 대두되었다 충돌제트는 국소적으로 높은 열/물질 전달 효과를 얻을 수 있어서 터빈 블레이드 냉각과 연소기 벽면 냉각에 효과적으로 응용 될 수 있다. 이러한 충돌제트의 냉각효과는 제트출구의 초기조건에 매우 민감한데 Kelvin-Helmholts 불안정은 불안정한 자유전단층에서 자연적인 와류생성(roll up)과 개개의 와류고리 형성의 원인이 되고 이 고리의 성장과 병합(pairing)은 제트의 유동특성에 상당히 영향을 미친다. 제트주위에 생성되는 이러한 와류에 의해 제트중심에서 속도와 난류강도가 변하게 된다. 이러한 제트초기의 불안정성은 하류에서의 와류성장에 영향을 끼치기 때문에 와류의 조절에 의한 충돌 면에의 열 전달 효과 상승을 기대할 수 있다. 이 조절방법은 크게 두 가지로 나눌 수 있는데 하나는 제트주의 환형관에 이차유동을 가하여 와류를 직접 제어함으로써 자유전단류(free shear layer flow)의 안정성 원리를 이용하여 열 전달을 촉진하는 것이고 다른 하나는 음향여기(acoustic exitation)를 사용하여 제트주위의 와류형성을 조절하는 것인데, 자연적으로 형성되는 와류의 주파수(와류의 고유주파수)나 부조화 주파수(subharmonic)로 음향여기 시키는 경우 제트 주위 와류는 더욱 증폭되고 그렇지 않은 경우 제트주위 와류의 형성이 억제되어 더 긴 제트코어의 길이 및 제트코어 주위에서 작은 크기의 와류들이 형성된다.

Investigation of Internal Temperature Distribution in Domestic Refrigerators and Freezers (가정용 식품 냉장고와 냉동고의 내부 온도 분포 실태 조사)

  • This study surveyed and compared the temperature distribution in domestic refrigerators and freezers used in Korea to determine whether temperature varied according to the location of food storage. We selected 50 people to collect temperature data; among them, 25 measured the temperature of refrigerators, while the remaining measured the temperature of freezers. Consequently, the lowest and highest temperatures measured in domestic refrigerators were found to be -8.2℃ and 15.8℃, respectively, with an average temperature of 3.73℃. The temperature distribution based on internal location was: 5.06±1.69℃ for the door storage compartment, 4.18±1.19℃ for the inside wall surface, and 3.41±1.36℃ for the inner storage box. Significant temperature differences between the top and bottom were only identified at the door storage compartment (P<0.01). Further, the minimum and maximum temperatures measured in the freezer was -30.3℃ and 0.7℃, respectively, with an average temperature of -17.95℃. The temperature distribution based on location was: -17.19±1.68℃ for the door storage compartment, -17.81±1.07℃ for the inside wall surface, and -18.78±1.72℃ for the inside storage box. The results were similar to that of the refrigerator, with the lowest temperature in the inside storage box, and a significant temperature difference between the top and bottom noted only at the door (P<0.01). The maximum temperature difference (between locations) within the refrigerator and freezer was found to be 2.18 and 2.02℃, respectively. In conclusion, the temperature in the entire space was not constant; there were significant deviations at different storage locations. Therefore, public authorities should actively advise customers on the recommended storage locations for each food type. People will benefit from awareness about storage management, including avoiding storage of temperature-sensitive foods in door compartment.

Studies on the Storage Condition for Tricholoma giganteum Mycelium (왕송이버섯(Tricholoma giganteum)균의 저장조건)

  • In some cases, the problem with the mycelium of Tricholoma giganteum is delayed mycelial growth or non-regeneration. Therefore, this study was conducted to understand the mycelial storage condition of T. giganteum and to investigate the regeneration ratio of mycelial growth. T. giganteum obtained from KACC in RDA was evaluated for its simple preservation at $10^{\circ}C$ and subcultured on different media. Mycelium of T. giganteum was cultured on the PBA (potato bamboo extract medium) for seven days at $30^{\circ}C$. Using simple preservation method, the mycelium of T. giganteum (MKACC 50852) and Pleurotus ostreatus (Chunchu No. 2) were stored on six different media in two kinds of storage vessels (tube and vial) for a period of 1-12 months at $4^{\circ}C,\;15^{\circ}C$, and $25^{\circ}C$ storage temperatures. At $4^{\circ}C$ storage condition, mycelial regeneration was failed in all agar media, but was successful in the sawdust medium for 3 months. At $15^{\circ}C$ storage, mycelial activity was maintained up to six months. On the other hand, P. ostreatus produced well-regenerated mycelia both at $4^{\circ}C$ and $15^{\circ}C$ storage up to 12 months. In conclusion, it is estimated that the mycelia storage condition of T. giganteum must be done at $15^{\circ}C$ and subcultured within six months.

Study on the Methodology of the Microbial Risk Assessment in Food (식품중 미생물 위해성평가 방법론 연구)

  • Recently, it is continuously rising to concern about the health risk being induced by microorganisms in food such as Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Listeria monocytogenes. Various organizations and regulatory agencies including U.S.FPA, U.S.DA and FAO/WHO are preparing the methodology building to apply microbial quantitative risk assessment to risk-based food safety program. Microbial risks are primarily the result of single exposure and its health impacts are immediate and serious. Therefore, the methodology of risk assessment differs from that of chemical risk assessment. Microbial quantitative risk assessment consists of tow steps; hazard identification, exposure assessment, dose-response assessment and risk characterization. Hazard identification is accomplished by observing and defining the types of adverse health effects in humans associated with exposure to foodborne agents. Epidemiological evidence which links the various disease with the particular exposure route is an important component of this identification. Exposure assessment includes the quantification of microbial exposure regarding the dynamics of microbial growth in food processing, transport, packaging and specific time-temperature conditions at various points from animal production to consumption. Dose-response assessment is the process characterizing dose-response correlation between microbial exposure and disease incidence. Unlike chemical carcinogens, the dose-response assessment for microbial pathogens has not focused on animal models for extrapolation to humans. Risk characterization links the exposure assessment and dose-response assessment and involve uncertainty analysis. The methodology of microbial dose-response assessment is classified as nonthreshold and thresh-old approach. The nonthreshold model have assumption that one organism is capable of producing an infection if it arrives at an appropriate site and organism have independence. Recently, the Exponential, Beta-poission, Gompertz, and Gamma-weibull models are using as nonthreshold model. The Log-normal and Log-logistic models are using as threshold model. The threshold has the assumption that a toxicant is produce by interaction of organisms. In this study, it was reviewed detailed process including risk value using model parameter and microbial exposure dose. Also this study suggested model application methodology in field of exposure assessment using assumed food microbial data(NaCl, water activity, temperature, pH, etc.) and the commercially used Food MicroModel. We recognized that human volunteer data to the healthy man are preferred rather than epidemiological data fur obtaining exact dose-response data. But, the foreign agencies are studying the characterization of correlation between human and animal. For the comparison of differences to the population sensitivity: it must be executed domestic study such as the establishment of dose-response data to the Korean volunteer by each microbial and microbial exposure assessment in food.
