Development of Thermal Stress Measuring System (온도응력 측정용 시험장치의 개발)

  • Even though numerous researches have been performed for the prediction of thermal stresses in mass concrete structures by both analytical and experimental means, the limitations exist for both approaches. In analytical approach, the fundamental limitation is derived from the difficulty of predicting concrete properties such as modulus of elasticity, coefficient of thermal expansion, etc.. In experimental approach, there are many uncertainties related to in-situ conditions, because a majority of researches have focused on measuring thermal stresses in actual and simulated structures. In this research, an experimental device measuring thermal stresses directly in a laboratory setting is developed. The equipment is located in a temperature chamber that follows the temperature history previously obtained from temperature distribution analysis. Thermal strains are measured continuously by a strain gauge in the device and the corresponding thermal stresses are calculated simply by force equilibrium condition. For the verification of the developed device, a traditional experiment measuring thermal strains from embedded strain gauges is performed simultaneously. The results show that the thermal strain values measured by the newly developed device agree well with the results from the benchmark experiment.

Establishment of Safety Factors for Determining Use-by-Date for Foods (식품의 소비기한 참고치 설정을 위한 안전계수)

  • In Korea, from January 2023, the Act on Labeling and Advertising of Food was revised to reflect the use-by-date rather than the sell-by-date. Hence, the purpose of this study was to establish a system for calculating the safety factor and determining the recommended use-by-date for each food type, thereby providing a scientific basis for the recommended use-by-date labels. A safety factor calculation technique based on scientific principles was designed through literature review and simulation, and opinions were collected by conducting surveys and discussions including industry and academia, among others. The main considerations in this study were pH, Aw, sterilization, preservatives, packaging for storage improvement, storage temperature, and other external factors. A safety factor of 0.97 was exceptionally applied for frozen products and 1.0 for sterilized products. In addition, a between-sample error value of 0.08 was applied to factors related to product and experimental design. This study suggests that clearly providing a safe use-by-date will help reduce food waste and contribute to carbon neutrality.

Measurement of Elastic Modulus of Structural Ceramics by Acoustic Resonance Method (공진법을 이용한 구조용 세라믹의 탄성계수 측정)

  • 세라믹재료의 동탄성계수 측정을 위한 공진주파수 측정장치를 구성하였다. 구조용 세라믹 재료로 이용되는 $Al_{2}$O_{3}$, SiC, $Si_{3}$N_{4}$의 온도를 120$0^{\circ}C$까지 5$0^{\circ}C$의 온도간격으로 올리면서 torsional resonant frequency와 flexural resonant frequency를 측정하고, 측정된 공진주파수로부터 각 재료의 탄성계수를 구하였다. SiC의 경우는 120$0^{\circ}C$의 온도까지 탄성계수가 선형적으로 감소하였으나, $Al_{2}$O_{3}$와 $Si_{3}$N_{4}$의 경우에는 각각 100$0^{\circ}C$와 80$0^{\circ}C$까지는 선형적으로 감소하나, 그 이상의 온도에서는 탄성게수의 감소폭이 증가하는 현상을 보였다. 이러한 현상은 다결정재료에서의 grain boundary sliding에 의한 것으로 알려져 있다. 상온에서 공진법으로 측정된 동탄성계수의 측정결과는 초음파법으로 측정한 결과와 비교하였는데, 4% 내에서 서로 일치하는 결과를 보였다.

  • An infrared imaging method in which direct measurement of energy gap variations can be achieved by digital image processing is proposed. This method allows economic and easy evaluation of the temperature coefficients of a semiconductor energy gap. The key components of the method are a polychromator, a computer equipped with a frame grabber and a variable temperature cryostat. Tentative experimentation conducted on LEC grown semi-insulating GaAs has resulted in a fairly good agreement with the theoretical model. This proposed method could be applicable for most compound semiconductors.

  • 불요 전자파 제거용 필터의 유전체로 사용되는 Zirconium Titanate 세라믹 유전체에서 $MoO_2$ 함유량과 소결온도에 변화를 주어 이들이 유전특성에 미치는 영향에 대하여 검토하였다. 일반적으로 $MoO_2$ 함유량보다는 소결온도의 변화가 유전률, 품질계수 및 소결밀도 등에 더 큰 영향을 주었으며, 정전용량의 온도계수 측면에서는 $MoO_2$ 함유량을 제어하여0ppm$^\{circ}C$근처로 이동시켜 상당히 안정된 온도 특성으로 개선할 수 있었다.

  • Microwave dielectric properties of Ba(Zn$_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/) $O_3$-Sr(Zn$_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/) $O_3$(BZN-SZN) system were investigated as a function of sintering temperature and Zr $O_2$content. Density was increased and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (TCF, $\tau$$_{f}$) decreased with increasing sintering temperature. However dielectric constant (K) and Q$\times$f value did not change markedly with the sintering temperature. For the samples sintered at the same temperature, density, dielectric constant, and Q$\times$f value were increased and TCF was decreased with increasing Zr $O_2$concentration. Especially, the dielectric constant of the sample increased with x and exhibited the maximum value ($\varepsilon$$_{r}$=41) when x=0.6 at 1575$^{\circ}C$ sintered. TCF decreased with x and exhibited the minimum value ($\tau$$_{f}$=+0.8ppm/$^{\circ}C$) when x=1.0..0.

  • 초정밀 박막저항을 제조하기 위하여, 3원계 5lwt%Ni-4lwt%Cr-8wt%Si 합금 타겟(Target)을 가지고 DC/RF 마그네트론 스퍼터를 이용하여 박막 저항을 제조하였고. 낮은 저항온도계수(TCR)를 가지는 박막을 만들기 위해 스퍼터링 제조공정의 변화에 따른 박막의 미세구조와 전기적인 특성을 조사하였다. 스퍼터링 제조공정 변수로써 스퍼터링 Power를 변화시켰고. 제조된 박막은 공기 중에서 400[$^{\circ}C$]까지 열처리하였다. 반응압력을 감소시킴에 따라 TCR값은 감소하였고, 기판온도 및 열처리 온도의 증가에 따라 TCR값도 증가하였다. 또한. 저항온도계수값은 DC와 RF의 변화에 따라 +52, -25(ppm/$^{\circ}C$)의 TCR값을 나타냈다 이와 같은 결과로부터 제조공정을 변화시킴에 따라 면저항 및 저항 온도계수의 제어가 가능함을 알 수 있었다.

  • In deep geological disposal of high-level radioactive waste, the surrounding rock at the immediate vicinity of the deposition hole may experience localized changes in permeability due to in-situ stress at depth, swelling pressure from resaturated bentonite buffer, and the heat generated from the decay of radioactive isotopes. In this study, experimental data on changes in permeability of granite, a promising candidate rock type in South Korea, were obtained by applying various confining pressures and temperature conditions expected in the actual disposal environment. By conducting the permeability test on KURT granite specimens under three or more hydrostatic pressure conditions, the relation in which the permeability decreases exponentially as the confining pressure increases was derived. The temperature-induced changes in permeability were found to be negligible at temperatures below the expected maximum of 90℃. In addition, by establishing a relation in which the initial permeability is proportional to the power of the initial porosity, it was possible to estimate permeability value for granite with a specific porosity under a certain confining pressure.

  • A general solution for temperature distribution And heat transfer for a uniform straight fin is yen. Thermal conductivity and heat transfer coefficient between the fin and the surrounding fluid can be arbitrary functions of temperature.   • Effect of heating medium and evaporation temperatures on a concentration ratio, a evaporation rate and a overall heat transfer coefficient during concentration of garlic juice by a centrifugal thin film evaporator were investigated. At constant feeding rate and evaporation temperature, the concentration ratio, the evaporation rate and the overall heat transfer coefficient increased with the increase of the steam temperature but those values increased slowly or decreased as a steam temperature exceeded $110^{\circ}C$. At the feeding rate of 50 kg/h and the steam temperature of $100^{\circ}C$ and below, those values decreased with the increase of evaporation temperature. But if a steam temperature became $100^{\circ}C$ and up, those values increased slowly and then decreased with the increase of the evaporation temperature until the evaporation temperature reached a critical value. At constant feeding rate, those values increased until the temperature difference between steam and evaporation temperatures became $70^{\circ}C$. But if they become larger than $70^{\circ}C$, those values increased slowly and then decreased.
