  • This study aims to clarify the characteristics of the physical and mechanical properties of soil-slope failure of Okcheon metamorphic zone. Soil samples were collected from 35 collapsed and uncollapsed artificial slopes along national roads. A series of laboratory experiments was carried out to examine physical and mechanical properties of soils and rocks. The results show that failure slopes have weakness of failure at 0.75 of AMI or higher, 32% of liquid limit or higher, and 31% of saturated moisture content or higher. The plastic index of failure slopes is correlated to wet density and saturated density. It turned out that failure could easily happen according to a high plastic index even if the void ratio was low. The greater the contents of bigger-sized soil, i.e. contents of sands and gravels rather than of clays, is the greater the chance to fail at the slope.

  • Ok-Cheon catholic church has been changed 4 times since it's first construction in 1955. Prior three changes were small ones of windows, doors, roof finish etc. but the last alteration was the extension of it's plan from 一 shape to long cross shape and along with it the size, structure and form of it changed. This history of the church has not been recorded in drawing but only in text with indistinct features not documented. This study makes a new 2D CAD files using layers matched the changes and 3D digital models, these have not only present information but also change informations of the church. They are useful data for effective management, conservation restoration or possible reuse of it.

  • Recent seismicity of the central region of South Korea is investigated by using the micro-earthquake data recorded at the seismic network of KNUE(Korea National University of Education) since December, 1997. About two earthquakes are observed each month, which indicates relatively low seismic activities of the region, without showing any temporal characteristics of seismicity. The b-value of the region obtained from the data we used is found to be about 1.15. The epicenters of the micro-earthquakes are mostly located in the Okchon Zone, especially around Munkyong area, Poeun-Sokri Mt.-Youngdong area, and Kunsan-Nonsan area.
