Estimation of Pollutants Loading from Non-Point Sources Based on Rainfall Event and Land use Characteristics (강우강도와 토지이용을 고려한 비점오염물질 부하량 산정에 관한 연구)

  • The unit load has simply been used to estimate total pollutant loading from non-point sources, however, it does not count on the variable pollutant loading according to land use characteristics and rainfall intensity. Since pollutant emission from the watershed is strongly dependent on the rainfall intensity, it is necessary to find out the relationship between pollutant loading and rainfall intensity. The objective of this study is to develop simple and easy method to compute non-point source pollution loads with consideration of rainfall intensity. Two non-point source removal facility at Gyeongan-dong (Gwangju-si) and Mohyeon-myeon (Yongin-si), Gyeonggi-do was selected to monitor total rainfall, rainfall intensity, runoff characteristics and water quality from June to November, 2010. Most of Event Mean Concentrations (EMC) of measured water quality data were higher in Gyeongan which has urban land use than in Mohyeon which has rural land use. For the case of TP (Total Phosphorus), Mohyeon has higher values by the influence of larger chemical uses such as fertilizer. The relationship between non-point source pollution load and rainfall intensity is perfectly well explained by cubic regression with 0.33~0.81 coefficients of determination($R^2$). It is expected that the pollution loading function based on the long-term monitoring would be very useful with good accuracy in computing non-point source pollution load, where a rainfall intensity is highly variable.

  • Impervious surface increase due to urbanization, one of the leading causes of pavement increased the runoff coefficient, peak flow, and reducing the infiltration flow and thereby causing flooding and river erosion is occurring in aquatic ecosystems are known to impair. This study aimed to classify use type of detailed land into the road, reststop, tollgates and etc. focused on major domestic highways, to understand the characteristics of rainfall runoff pollutants and to calculate applicable unit pollution load. Because of high runoff coefficient and short travel time to drainage. first flush occurred clearly. Average EMCs of runoff in the highway was investigated as TSS 108.47 mg / L, COD 28.16 mg / L, BOD 13.61 mg / L, TN 6.38 mg / L, TP 0.03 mg / L, Cu 118.17 ${\mu}g$ / L, Pb 345.3 ${\mu}g$ / L, Zn 349.47 ${\mu}g$ / L. Unit pollution loads calculated by detailed land use area of highways based on average annual rainfall, EMCs, applicable basin areas and etc. were 46.6 kg/km2/day of BOD, 1.4 kg/km2/day of TP, 8.81 kg / km2/day of TN and these were BOD 50.8%, TP 66.7%, TN 64.4%in comparison of the unit pollution loads which applies fallow land standards of the TMDL(Total Maximum Daily Load). It was considered that discharged loads can be excessively calculated in case highway non-point management plans based on unit pollution load of the current land standard.

Pollutants Unit Loadings of the Stormwater Runoff in Industrial Complex (강우시 산업단지에서의 유출오염부하량 원단위 산정)

  • The objective of this paper is to estimate the pollutant load based on event mear concentrations(EMC) in industrial complex. Eight sub-basins in the Chongju industrial complex were selected for sampling and study with different characteristics during the period from June 1997 to August 1998. During the storm events, measured EMC ranges of $BOD_5$, COD, SS, TKN, TP, HEM, $NO_3-N$, $PO_4-P$, Cr, Pb, Cu and Fe in the industrial complex watersheds were 11~176mg/L, 40~502mg/L, 23~633mg/L, 104~20.9mg/L, 0.22~7.51mg/L, 12.7~548.7mg/L, 0.06~2.66mg/L, 0.12~3.39mg/L, 0.01~0.50mg/L. 0.02~0.42mg/L, 0.01~0.15mg/L and 1.29~11.51mg/L respectively. And the calculated annual average pollutant unit loadings of $BOD_5$ COD, SS, TKN, $NO_3-N$, $PO_4-P$, TP, HEM, Cr, Pb, Cu and Fe were 374.4kg/ha/yr 924.1kg/ha/yr, 983.6kg/ha/yr, 48.8kg/ha/yr, 8.1kg/ha/yr, 9.7kg/ha/yr, 17.8kg/ha/yr 943.0kg/ha/yr, 0.7kg/ha/yr, 0.9kg/ha/yr, 0.3kg/ha/yr and 28.9kg/ha/yr, respectively.

COD Pollutants Load Estimation Schemes in Lake Shihwa and Incheon Coastal Zone (시화호 및 인천연안의 COD 오염부하량 추정기법)

  • For the concentration management in COD parameters, it requires the measurement and estimation of the COD pollutants load (hereinafter PL) in the watershed. The estimation method of the PL, however, is provided only based on the BOD parameters. The development of COD PL estimation schemes is expected to execute total PL management in coastal zone and needs to more observation and much time. This study provides COD PL estimation schemes using statistical information about ratio analysis with COD & BOD concentration of rivers and drainages of an industrial complex in Lake Shiwha and Incheon Coastal Zone watershed. The COD PL is computed with ease by multiplying the conversion factor, which is calculated as the sum of the average and 1 to 3 (safety factors) times standard deviation. The conversion factor of Lake Shihwa and Incheon Coastal Zone is estimated as 1.7, 2.3 and 2.9 with respect to the safety factor 1, 2, and 3, respectively.

The research about the estimate of concentration ratio by the hydrologic condition of river watershed (하천의 수문조건에 따른 오염물질 유달율 산정에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구에서는 유역과 점오염원, 비점오염원을 종합하고, 방대한 자료를 쉽게 적용할 수 있으며 유역의 지형적인 특성과 수리 수문학적인 특성 및 오염원의 공간적인 분포 특성을 반영하여 유달부하량의 모의가 가능한 SWAT 모형을 이용하여 낙동강 유역의 주요 지류에 대한 유달율산정에 관하여 검토하고자 한다. 본 연구의 대상지역은 낙동강 유역 중 본류가 시작되는 곳으로부터 금호강지류와 합류하는 지점까지로 선정하였으며 SWAT 모형에 적용되는 자료는 2005년 1월${\sim}$12월의 실측 자료를 이용하였다. 유달율 산정 항목으로는 BOD, T-N, T-P를 선정하였다. 분석 결과 전반적으로 강수의 영향을 많이 받는 계절에 유달율이 높게 산정되었으며 또한 유역면적 보다 유량과의 상관성이 유달율에 많은 영향을 미치는 것으로 검토되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 정확한 배출부햐량의 산정을 위하여 강우의 영향과 발생부하 원단위에 대한 지속적인 연구가 필요하다고 사료된다.

  • 유기농업은 저농약, 무농약, 자연농법과 함께 환경 친화적 농업으로 인식되어 세계적으로 유기농산물 생산량 및 재배면적이 급격하게 증가하고 있다. 국내 역시 안전한 먹거리 생산과 재배환경에서의 유해물질 관리방안 구축 등이 필요한 상황이다. 자가생산 유기농자재, 가축분을 이용한 축분 퇴비와 액비, 그리고 유박 등이 유기농업에 활용되고 있으나 사용 유기농자재의 양분가용화와 양분이용효율에 따른 비점오염원 형태로 토양 및 수질에 미치는 환경영향 등의 관측과 분석이 필요한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 밭 포장에서의 유기농업 적용에 따른 유기농과 관행농에서의 대표적 비점오염원인 영양물질(T-N 및 T-P)에 대한 원단위를 평가하는데 있다. 시험포장은 전북 순장군 순창읍에 위치하고 있으며, 유기질비료시비 및 관행작물(고구마)의 3반복 1처리구(경사도 $6.6^{\circ}$)와 관행농관리 및 관행작물(고구마)의 1반복 1대조구(경사도 $6.8^{\circ}$)로 구성하였다. 현장에서 강우량과 유량을 실측하였으며, 강우 이벤트 시 T-N 및 T-P의 수질항목을 샘플링 후 분석하였다. 2016년 현재까지 총 6회의 강우 이벤트가 발생하였으며, 그 중 4회의 수질 샘플링을 실시하였다. 유출률은 평균 유기농에서 32%와 관행농에서 57%로 나타났다. 이는 토지피복 및 선행강우 등의 영향으로 다양한 분포를 보여주었다. 유기농 처리구에서 수질 부하량이 전체적으로 높게 나타났으며, T-N의 경우 4.4배와 T-P의 경우 1.8배로 나타났다. 이러한 경향은 유출수의 농도 영향보다 유출량의 영향이 큰 것으로 보인다. 유기농 처리구의 경우 제초제 등의 농작업이 제대로 이루어지지 않아 조도계수가 높았으며, 유기농 처리구에서 유출량이 31% 수준으로 상대적으로 낮게 나타났다. 본 연구의 경우 관행적으로 이루어지는 제초관리 형태를 벗어난 경우로 일반적인 결론 도출에는 한계가 있으나 유기농업 경작지에서 일반적으로 식생분포가 활발한 특성을 보여주고 있다. 향후 추가적인 모니터링 연구가 지속적으로 필요하며, 본 연구를 바탕으로 유기농업 최적관리방안 제시에 필요한 기초자료로 활용되기를 기대된다.

  • The classification performance of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and RBF-NN was compared for Landsat TM image. The RBF-NN was validated for three unique landuse types (e.g. Mixed landuse area, Cultivated area, Urban area), different input band combinations and classification class. The bootstrap resampling technique was employed to estimate the confidence intervals and distribution for unit load, The pollutant generation was varied significantly according to the classification accuracy and percentile unit load applied. Especially in urban area, where mixed landuse is dominant, the difference of estimated pollutant load is largely varied.

Evaluation of Basic Unit for Non-point Pollutants in Runoff of West Coast Highway - Maesong Area (서해안 고속도로 매송지역 비점오염원 원단위 산정 연구)

  • In this study, evaluation of basic unit of non-point pollutant, which is fundamental evaluation of non-point loading, was conducted using both road point and angle of intersection point in Maesong area, West coast highway by utilizing Event Mean Concentrations(EMC). Concentration of pollutants except heavy metals at these two points rapidly decreased in 30 minutes after start of runoff. According to the results of EMC, for both sampling points, it was determined that the concentrations of TSS(Total Suspended Solid), $BOD_5$(Biological Oxygen Demand), and DOC(Dissolved Organic Carbon) were higher than those of wastewater effluent standard in Korea, however, the concentrations of T-N(Total Nitrogen) and T-P(Total Phosphorus) were lower than those of the standard. In terms of heavy metals, Fe, Pb, and Zn showed higher concentrations than others. When compared with the units established by the Ministry of Environment in Korea, the basic units of $BOD_5$ and T-N in this study were lower. On the other hand, when compared with foreign units, Cu, Pb, and Zn showed approximately 10 times higher concentrations. It was estimated that a long term monitoring should be conducted for obtaining additional data and more reliable basic units for the non-point pollutnats based on the results from this study.

Estimating Unit Load of Non-Point Source Pollutants for Landuse Types in Anseongchun Watershed (안성천 유역의 토지이용별 비점오염원 원단위 산정)

  • In this study, we computed the unit load of nonpoint source for the forest, agricultural, and urban representative region in Anseongchun watershed. In addition, Flow-weighted mean concentration (FWMC) that well represents runoff characteristics of storm water during rainfall, was calculated, and runoff pollutants loading was also examined. FWMCs of 1st rainfall, which runoff coefficient was high, had a tendency higher than those of 2nd rainfall. Based on landuse results, pollutant concentration of the non-urban such as forest and agricultural regions was higher than that of urban region. In case of BOD, runoff pollutants loading was calculated as 1,395, 1,623, 2,268kg/d in 1st rainfall for forest, agricultural, and urban regions, respectively, while runoff loading of 2nd rainfall was 503kg/d in forest), 512kg/d in agricultural, and 898kg/d in urban. By landuses, unit load of the urban as 72.7kg/ha/yr was 12 times higher than that of the agricultural as 6.5kg/ha/yr, and 8 times higher than that of the forest as 9.5kg/ha/yr.

Analyzing runoff load of NPS for rainfall event in Hongje basin (홍제천 유역 강우시 비점오염 유출부하 분석)

  • 홍제천 유역의 비점오염원 유출부하를 분석하기 위해 강우시 하천 유량 및 수질 발생 특성, 유출고 및 유출계수 분석, 비점오염원 유출부하특성 및 원단위 산정 등에 대하여 연구하였다. 유량 및 유량가중평균농도의 경우 각 조사 시기별 강우사상에 많은 영향을 받아 크게 증가하였다가 감소하는 경향을 나타내고 있으며, 강우 1차$\~$3차 조사시기 동안 상류에서 하류로 유하 할수록 농도의 변화가 일정하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 지점별 유출계수를 살펴보면, 구기천 및 신영천 유역 중 투수층인 산지지형이 넓게 분포되어 있어 유출계수가 낮게 산정되었으며, 구간별 배수구역 면적을 고려한 강우시 비점오염원 부하를 산정한 결과를 살펴보면 SS의 유출부하가 높게 나타나 부유물질의 주된 성분이 생물학적으로 분해 가능한 성분이기보다는 하상 퇴적물질 및 생물학적으로 난분해성 유기물질일 것으로 사료된다.
