A Study on the Change of Cause for Rebuilding of Hoeamsa and Analogous Structure of Religious Solution - focusing on Jajang's Influence - (회암사(檜巖寺) 수조명분(修造名分)의 변화와 종교적 해법의 유사구조 - 자장(慈藏)의 영향을 중심으로 -)

  • The temple Hoeamsa(檜巖寺) was repaired by Naong(懶翁), and with this the power of the temple became far greater to be the greatest Buddhist temple during late Goryeo and early Joseon. Naong's reconstruction of Hoeamsa was originated from Jigong(指空)'s teaching 'Samsan Yangsu(三山兩水).' But it is not clear whether Samsan Yangsu really meant Hoeamsa. By the way, after 14 years, Naong suddenly remembered this word and began to repair Hoeamsa in a large scale. From this, we can guess that Naong tried to give the contemporary Buddhism some change through the repair of Hoeamsa. But, as King Gongmin(恭愍王) the greatest supporter of Naong was suddenly assassinated, the political situation changed a lot and Naong also died unexpectedly. Naong's death brought out the critical sense to Hoeamsa and, in the process to resolve the crisis, the repair of Hoeamsa began to be justified through diverse religious factors. As these were expanded and developed on and one, Hoeamsa came to be honored as the most divine temple in Korea during the early Joseon dynasty. Furthermore, into the cause structure for the Naong's repair of Hoeamsa, the influence of Jajang was added through Odaesan Buddhism. As we can well understand, late Silla situation of Jajang and the late Goryeo of Naong were very similar and the both Buddhist leaders should have derived out some religious solution for them. In other words, both of them had a similar recognition in finding the religious solution for the contemporary crises. It becomes a way to understand the Hoeamsa repairing structure taken by Naong and his disciples. Therefore, by comparing the similar religious solution structures given by Jajang and Naong and by clearer understanding on Samsan Yangsu spirit, we can see the repair of Hoeamsa and the related aspects more accurately.

Earthquake Observation through Groundwater Monitoring: A case of M4.9 Odaesan Earthquake (지하수 모니터링을 통한 지진 감시 가능성: 중규모(M4.9) 오대산 지진의 관측)

  • Groundwater monitoring data from the National Groundwater Monitoring Stations, a total of 320 stations, were analyzed to identify the response of water level and quality to the Odaesan earthquake (M4.9) occurred in January 2007. Among the total of eight stations responded to the earthquake, five wells showed water-level decline, and in three wells, water level rose. In terms of recovery, water levels in four stations had recovered to the original level in five days, but not in the rest four wells. The magnitude of water-level change shows weak relations to the distance between the earthquake epicenter and the groundwater monitoring station. However, the relations to the transmissivities of monitored aquifer in the station with the groundwater change were not significant. To implement the earthquake monitoring system through the groundwater monitoring network, we still need to accumulate the long-term monitoring data and geostatistically analyze those with hydrogeological and tectonic factors.

  • Surveys for visitor's awareness and on-the-spot investigations at Odae Mountain National Park were conducted for activation of nature interpretation. As a result, many problems on observation trails as the object of the nature interpretation were identified. The nature interpretation is not functioning fully for the side of environmental education. The situation and problems of nature interpretation were analyzed in depth based on the survey of the visitors. In order to improve roles of the nature observation trails and solve the present problems immediately, suggestions are as the followings. I) Road resurfacing and space development needed to solve the problems of existing nature observation trail. 2) Public relations for nature observation trail and production of signboards promoting visitor's interest. 3) Development of nature observation trail used only for nature interpretation 4) Development of adequate Korean interpretation program based on systematic nature interpretation models from other developed countries

Re-establishment of a Conservation Area in Odaesan(Mt.) National Park based on Ecological Values (생태적가치 기반의 오대산국립공원 보전지구 재설정 방안 연구)

  • This study aimed to re-establish the conservation area reflecting landscape ecological value through scenario program, targeting Odaesan National Park. The basic data were mapped in watershed planning units, which were set considering topographical and ecological values. The framework of Marxan with Zones, using an indexation process, was using the mapped indicators. Each best solution according to the scenarios was assessed through sensitivity analysis, and a final solution was selected among the best solutions, considering criteria including area ratio of conservation area and grouping. Lastly, the final solution was verified in the overlap analysis with recent zonation. As a result, through the framework of Marxan with Zones, the best solution of scenario 1, which was set by the highest conservation criteria was selected as the final solution, and the area ratio of conservation area and grouping was excellent. As for the overlap analysis, the suggested conservation area was improved compared to recent zonation in terms of the area ratio (39.4%), biotope grade I (35.6%) and the distribution points (7 places) of legally protected species.

A Study on the Fuel Injection System Simulating a Vehicle Driven with FTP-75 Mode for Cold Transition Period (FTP-75 냉간 주행 모드로 운전하는 차량의 연료분사 모사시스템에 관한 연구)

  • A fuel injection system which is operated with a real vehicle driving simulation was developed as an alternative to a vehicle test for the fuel injectors. The sensor signals that are supplied to the ECU were measured and recorded as a data file for a vehicle driven in FTP-75 mode in a chassis dynamometer. The imperative sensor signals of the throttle position, vehicle speed, engine speed, crank position, cam position, intake air flow, and cooling water and intake air temperature were reconstructed using FPGA DAQ boards and a PXI computer. The scanning results showed good agreement with the input signals that were reconstructed. The ECU HILS system operated successfully to drive six fuel injectors, which injected fuel in the same pattern as if they were mounted in the vehicle driven in FTP-75 mode. Also, the fuel injection system developed in this research shows the possibility of application in evaluating the characteristics of fuel injection rate for injectors according to properties of injected fuel with the real driving mode of vehicles.

  • The inner structure of the triangular separate bar (TSB) was improved to enhance the productivity of the TSB flow meter by simplifying the machining process for making the flow meter. The cross section of upstream and downstream pressure chamber in the TSB was changed from triangle to circle, which make it possible to substitute the wire cutting by drilling in the process of machining the pressure chamber. The flow rate characteristics of the flow meters was calibrated with a laminar flow meter. Six kinds of flow meters whose diameters of pressure tap for measuring pressure of both upsteam and downstream pressure chamber were different one another were made. The effects of the pressure tap diameter on the flow rate characteristics of the TSB flow meter was little. The mass flow rate characteristics of the flow meters with increasing a non-dimensional parameter which includes the gas temperature, exhaust gas pressure and differential pressure at the flow meters and atmospheric pressure shows nearly linear relationship with a correlation coefficient of R=0.998.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the vascular plants in the Baekdudaegan Mountains and to provide the basic data necessary for future ecosystem conservation measures. The numbers of vascular plants were summarized as 699 taxa including 98 families, 338 genera, 598 species, 4 subspecies, 80 varieties, and 17 forms. There were 427 taxa in A-section, 451 taxa in B-section, 361 taxa in C-section, and 455 taxa in D-section. The rare plants were 37 taxa including 2 taxa of the CR, EN, and DD each, 12 taxa of the VU, and 19 taxa of the LC. The Korean endemic plants were 30 taxa including Salix koriyanagi Kimura, Hanabusaya asiatica (Nakai) Nakai, Carex okamotoi Ohwi, and so forth. The northern plants were 41 taxa including Equisetum hyemale L., Anemone reflexa Steph. et Willd., Symplocarpus renifolius Schott ex Miq., and so forth. The naturalized plants were 33 taxa including Fallopia dumetorum (L.) Holub, Coreopsis lanceolata L., Poa pratensis L., and so forth. The invasive alien plants were 3 taxa including Rumex acetocella L., Ambrosia artemisiifolia L., and Aster pilosus Willd.

Characteristics of Flow Coefficients in an Engine Cylinder Head with a Quasi-steady Flow Condition by Continuous Variation of the Valve Lift (밸브 양정의 연속 변화에 의한 준정상 유동 조건에서의 엔진 실린더헤드 유량계수 특성)

  • Flow Coefficients of intake port in an engine cylinder head were measured by a newly designed flow rig. In measuring the flow coefficient with traditional method, the valve lift was manually varied by technician with adjusting a micrometer which is directly connected to the intake valve of the cylinder head. The cam shaft of the cylinder head is directly rotated by a step motor and the valve lift was automatically varied with cam shaft profile in the newly designed flow rig. The measurement of the flow coefficient was automated by rotating the cam shaft with the step motor. Automatic measurement of the flow coefficient could be safely measured by separating a technician from the noise and vibration of the traditional flow rig. Also, the automatic measurement of the flow coefficient reduce the measurement time and provide meaningful statistical data.

  • The final reduction drive in tactical vehicles has a wear-pad that helps to maintain adequate end floating when the hub assay operates. The input axis and sun gear move repeatedly with the axis when tactical vehicle is operating. The hub assay is designed so that the wear pads won't seize during operation. Seizure of the wear pads during operation results in oil leakage. In our study, the fault mechanism was analyzed to prevent the seizure of the wear pads and an optimal design for the shape and material of the wear-pad was explored. We then observed the changes in temperature, shape, and material of several important parts.

  • This study was performed to calculate the swirl ratio of a diesel engine intake port by a 1D computer simulation under actual engine operating conditions. The swirl ratio of the intake port was simulated according to the change of the engine speed during the operation of the motoring without fuel injection. The swirl ratio of the intake port was simulated according to changes in the crank angle during the four-cycle operation of intake, compression, expansion and exhaust. The swirl ratio represented by the three regions of the piston, center and squish was simulated. Among the three regions, the piston-region swirl ratio is important for effective air-fuel mixing in the engine cylinder. In particular, it was confirmed during the simulation that the piston swirl ratio before and after the compression top dead center (TDC) point when fuel is injected in the DI diesel engine can have a significant effect on the mixing of air and fuel. It was desirable to set the average piston swirl ratio over a crank angle section before and after compression TDC as the representative swirl ratio of the cylinder head intake port according to the change of the engine speed.
