Experimental Study on the Effect of Flame Surface Area Fluctuation on the Heat Release Fluctuation in a Premixed Bunsen Flame (예혼합 분젠 화염에서의 화염 표면적 변동이 열발생 변동에 미치는 영향에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • A combustion chamber with a branch tube was built to investigate the characteristics of a spontaneous oscillating laminar premixed Bunsen flame. The flame behavior was observed, and the relation between the flame surface area and heat release rate was inspected. The equivalence ratio and mean velocity were fixed at 1.1 and 1.75 m/s, respectively. The amplitude of the pressure fluctuation in the combustion chamber was changed and the flame behavior was affected when the length ratio between the branch tube and combustion chamber (L:R) was varied. The $OH^*$, $CH^*$, and flame chemiluminescence had similar behavior qualitatively. There was linearity between the flame surface area and heat release rate.

Short Reaction Mechanism for Premixed CH4-Air Flames at High Pressure (고압에서 예혼합 CH4-Air 화염의 축소 반응 메카니즘)

  • A short reaction mechanism for premixed $CH_4$-air flames at high pressure was developed using a reduction method based on the combined application of the simulation error minimization connectivity method and the iterative species-removal sensitivity method. It consisted of 43 species and 554 elementary reactions under the condition that it produces less than 5% of the maximum error. The flame structures obtained using a detailed reaction mechanism and the short reaction mechanism were compared for $CH_4$-air flames with various initial temperatures and equivalence ratios at high pressure, and the results were in good agreement. Therefore, the short reaction mechanism developed could reproduce the flame speeds, temperatures, and concentrations of major and minor species at high pressure.

Evaluation of Combustion Mechanism of Droplet Cluster in Premixed Spray Flame by Simultaneous Time-Series Measurement (동시 시계열 계측에 의한 예혼합 분무화염 내 유적군 연소기구의 평가)

  • To evaluate the combustion mechanism of each droplet cluster downstream of the premixed spray flame, the simultaneous time-series measurements were conducted by using optical measurement system consisting of laser tomography, multi-color integrated Cassegrain receiving optics (MICRO) and phase Doppler anemometer (PDA). Furthermore, the group combustion number of droplet cluster was estimated experimentally, and the combustion mechanism of droplet cluster was examined applying the theoretical analysis. The group combustion number, $G_c$, was experimentally estimated about all droplet cluster verified by planar images, and it was classified into the internal group combustion mode and the external group combustion mode according to the theoretical analysis. It is found that there are cases in which the group combustion number estimated experimentally for droplet cluster agree or disagree with the classification by theoretical analysis. The reason of disagreement is considered due to that the group combustion number was only estimated by the geometrical arrangement of droplets in cluster, and that the actual phenomenon is three-dimensional but the measurement system is two-dimensional.

Effect of $CO_2$ dilution on Combustion Instabilities in dual premixed flame (이중 예혼합화염에서 $CO_2$ 희석이 연소불안정에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of $CO_2$-dilution on combustion instability were studied in order to apply biogas in a dual lean premixed gas turbine combustor on a real-scale dual lean premixed burner head which is originally developed for Natural Gas fuel. Combustion instability is reduced by $CO_2$ dilution effect according to the result of dynamic pressure signal and phase-resolved $OH^*$ images. The reason for this is that dilution of $CO_2$ reduces heat release perturbation and increases flame volume due to reduction of the flame speed and expansion of flame surface.

  • The availability of thermal energy has been widely recognized recently, and the cascade usage of thermal energy from combustion has been encouraged. Within this framework, a 1-kW-class Stirling-engine.based cogeneration system has been proposed as a unit of a distributed energy system. The capacity has been designed to be adequate for domestic usage, which requires high compactness as well as low emissions and noise. To develop a highly efficient system satisfying these requirements, a premixed slot-type short-flame burner has been proposed, and a series of experiments has been performed to understand its combustion characteristics. Flame images have been captured to observe the dependence of the flame mode on the combustion load and air/fuel ratio. The exhaust gas has been sampled and analyzed to study the emission characteristics for each flame mode.

  • 본 논문에서는 혼합보증기간이 있는 수리 가능한 시스템에 대한 최적의 교체정책을 제안한다. 이 교체정책은 보증기간이 재생되는 경우와 재생되지 않는 두 가지 경우에 대해서 고려되며, 최적의 교체주기를 결정하기 위해서 사용자 관점에서의 단위 시간당 기대비용을 사용한다. 시스템의 고장시간이 와이블 분포를 할 때 수치적 예를 통해서 제안된 최적의 교체정책을 설명한다.
