  • Although the formation of oxy-fuel MILD combustion is considered one of the promising combustion technologies for high thermal efficiency, low emissions and stability have been reported as difficulties. In this paper, the effect of combustor geometry and operating conditions on the formation of oxy-fuel MILD combustion was analyzed using numerical simulation. The results show that the high temperature region and average temperature decreased due to an increase in oxygen inlet velocity; moreover, a high degree of temperature uniformity was achieved using an optimized combination of fuels and an oxygen injection configuration without external oxygen preheating. In particular, the oxy-fuel MILD combustion flame was found to be very stable with a combustion flame region at equivalence ratio 0.90, fuel velocity 10 m/s, oxygen velocity 200 m/s, and nozzle distance 33.5 mm.

  • In the natural gas pressure regulation station, high pressure natural gas is decompressing using pressure regulation valves. Waste pressure occurred in the pressure regulation process can be recovered through adopting turbo expanders. However, in the waste pressure recovery process, Joule Thompson effect causes below $0^{\circ}C$ and this low temperature freezes outside land of pipeline or generates methane hydrate in the pipeline which can block the pipeline. Therefore, turbo expander systems are accompanying with a boiler for preheating natural gas. Molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC), one of the high temperature fuel cell, can use natural gas as a direct fuel and is also exhausting low emission gas and generating electricity. In this paper, a thermodynamic analysis on the hybrid MCFC-turbo expander system is conducted. The fuel cell system is analyzed for the base load of the hybrid system.

  • In order to develop COG (Chip On Glass) technology for LCD module interconnecting the driver IC to Al pad electrode on the glass substrate, Anisotropic Conductive Adhesive(ACA) process, the most promising one among COG technologies, was investigated. ACA process was carried out by two steps, dispensing of ACA resin in the bonding area and curing by W radiation. Load on the chip was ranged from 2.0 to 15kg and the chip was heated at about 12$0^{\circ}C$. In resin, the density of conductive particles coated with Au or Ni at the surface were 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 particles/$\textrm{mm}^2$, and the diameter of particles were 5, 7 and 12${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. As a result of the experiments, ACA process using ACA particle of diameter and density of 5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 4000 particles/$\textrm{mm}^2$ respectively shows optimum characteristic with the stabilzed bonding properties and contact resistance.

  • We have studyed the surface electric resistiance for inner conductive film consisted of graphite and iron oxide by coating the conductive paint on inner face of 28" wide CRT funnel and have evaluated the working properties of 28" wide CRT according to the surface electric resistiance. We found that the viscosity of paint and the thickness of conductive film became the higher but the surface electric resistiance of con-ductive films was the lower than before in accordance with the increase of solid contents in conductive paint and that the surface condition and the surface electric resistiance of conductive films changed highly ac-cording to the drying conditions also. From these results we could get the uniform thickness and the un-iform film resistance and the optimum working property of selectric propertise in CRT when we used the conductive paint with solid contents 28% and viscosity about 13cps.

  • Natural gas through pipeline is supplied to consumers after its pressure gets down compulsorily. The waste pressure energy of this process can be restored by use of turbo expander which can produce electricity. So, turbo expander conducts two functions - pressure reduction and power generation. The power amount is the enthalpy difference between the inlet and outlet states. The five main factors which affect economic profit are facility price, produced power amount, pre-heating amount, electricity cost, and fuel gas cost. Power generation depends mainly on flow amount because inlet and outlet states are fixed. A methodology to estimate economy in irregular flow pattern is proposed and using this way, a case study was carried out.

  • Cu based amorphous ($Cu_{54}Zr_{22}Ti_{18}Ni_{6}$) powders were deposited onto Al 6061 substrates by cold spray process with different powder preheating temperatures (below glass transition temperature: $350^{\circ}C$, near glass transition temperature: $430^{\circ}C$ and near crystallization temperature: $500^{\circ}C$). The microstructure and macroscopic properties (hardness, wear and corrosion) of Cu based amorphous coating layers were also investigated. X-ray diffraction results showed that cold sprayed Cu based amorphous coating layers of $300{\sim}350{\mu}m$ thickness could be well manufactured regardless of powder preheating temperature. Porosity measurements revealed that the coating layers of $430^{\circ}C$ and $500^{\circ}C$ preheating temperature conditions had lower porosity contents (0.88%, 0.93%) than that of the $350^{\circ}C$ preheating condition (4.87%). Hardness was measured as 374.8 Hv ($350^{\circ}C$), 436.3 Hv ($430^{\circ}C$) and 455.4 Hv ($500^{\circ}C$) for the Cu based amorphous coating layers, respectively. The results of the suga test for the wear resistance property also corresponded well to the hardness results. The critical anodic current density ($i_{c}$) according to powder preheating temperature conditions of $430^{\circ}C$, $500^{\circ}C$ was lower than that of the sample preheated at $350^{\circ}C$, respectively. The higher hardness, wear and corrosion resistances of the preheating conditions of near $T_{g}$ and $T_{x}$, compared to the properties of below $T_{g}$, could be well explained by the lower porosity of coating layer.

  • In this study, the design conditions and CFD analysis results are compared and reviewed in SCR that can optimally reduce nitrogen compounds. To this end, it was analyzed and compared using CFD to see if the design criteria were satisfied for the shell and tube areas of the boiler. In the SCR system, the analysis area is the gas/air heat exchanger on the shell side, and eight tubes of the gas/air heat exchanger on the tube side. Through CFD analysis, the gas velocity distribution on the primary catalyst side of the SCR system was designed to be 2.4%, and the NH3/NOx molar ratio distribution was 3.7%, which satisfied the design criteria. In addition, the uniformity of the temperature distribution was confirmed and the required condition of 260℃ or higher was satisfied. The angle of the gas entering the catalyst met the design conditions at 2.9 degrees, and the pressure loss that occurred also satisfied the design requirements. Through this CFD analysis, it was confirmed that it was designed and operated by satisfying the design conditions required for each area.

  • High temperature sterilization method (30min. at $40^{\circ}C$longrightarrow30 min. at $70^{\circ}C$longrightarrow30 min. cooling at $20^{\circ}C$) was evaluated better than that of chloride, ion water, $O_3$ water, and salt water for the controling of micro-organisms at the early stage of sprout culture. Due to the improved germination rate and effective control of micro-organisms at early stage, the method resulted in much lower in the number of micro-organisms, higher in sprout yield, and 2 days longer in quality keeping at market than sprouts prepared by conventional method. There are two methods related with water temperature; constant temperature method (18.5$\pm$ $0.5^{\circ}C$) which keeps the same water temperature during the culture and 3-stage temperature method which changes the water temperature depending on the days after culture. Three-stage temperature method set the temperature at 21$\pm$ $1^{\circ}C$) in the second and third days after the initial acceleration of germination (about 4 hours), at 18.5$\pm$0.5$^{\circ}C$ in the fourth and fifth days, and at 17.0$\pm$ $0.5^{\circ}C$) in the sixth and seventh days. Three-stage temperature method could enhance the resistance power to diseases at the early growth stage, control the growth to standard goods (8-9cm in length and 2.15-2.30mm in width), and keep good body color at the middle or final stage. This method also increased the sprout yield by 6% compared with the conventional method, constant temperature method.

  • The HAN which is an ionic liquid is a non-toxic monopropellant with high storability, and its specific impulse can be increased by blending methanol, thereby it can substitute the hydrazine. The HAN was synthesized by acid-base reaction of hydroxylamine and nitric acid, and the blending ratio of HAN and methanol is 8.2:1. The iridium catalyst was used to decompose the HAN, and 1 N class thruster with shower head type injector having one orifice was used to evaluate the HAN/Methanol propellant. The thermal stability of distributor was increased by using ceramic material to endure the high temperature of product gas. The preheating temperature of catalyst should be $400^{\circ}C$ at least for the complete decomposition. The feeding pressure should be increased to increase the $C^*$ efficiency, thereby the decomposition performance was decreased upstream catalyst, and the performance of thruster was decreased. The fine metal mesh was inserted after the injector to improve the atomization of propellant, thereby it can settle the performance decrease problem. The phenomenon of performance decrease was remarkably improved owing to the insertion of fine metal mesh.

  • The $Al_2$$O_3$-SiC composite powder was prepared by Self-propagating High-Temperature Synthesis(SHS) process using $SiO_2$Al and C powders as raw material. The effects of the molar ratio in raw material, compaction pressure, initial temperature of reactants on the products and combustion process were studied. Self-propagating high temperature synthesis of $SiO_2$/Al/C system should be preheated above $400^{\circ}C$ owing to the low combustion temperature. As the result of the combustion reaction, the purity of final product became better than that of reactants. In this system, the optimum molar ratio of $SiO_2$:Al:C was 3.0:4.0:6.0. The free carbon was removed by roasting at $650^{\circ}C$ for 30min. In this study, pressureless sintering was very dffective both for controlling the disintegration of specimen with powder bed and for obtaining dense sintered-body at $1700^{\circ}C$. The sintered-body produced with hot-pressing was about 98% of the theoretical relative density.
