  • This study is about interaction design types in the production of sensor-based media installations combining Arduino, an open source platform. By typifying the realized media installation works, we seek to explore the diversity and meaning of new media art expression methods. Based on the understanding of the interaction method of media art, the interaction design type in the production of media installation using sensors was divided into physical movement through motor control, 'artificial plants using ultrasonic sensors and motors', and 'virtual garden using light and sound sensors'. 'Moving images using tilt sensors' are classified into four types. Through this, it is expected that media software can be selected as an appropriate technology for the work and can be presented as an example of artistic expression that is evolving into various expressions.

  • This study aims to verify the psychological evaluation that consumers undergo when accepting virtual fitting services while shopping online. The Theory of Interactive Media Effects (TIME) was applied to determine the impact of the perceived affordance of media on consumer response through immersion. An online survey was conducted targeting female consumers in their 20s and 30s, and 271 responses were collected and used for empirical analysis. The results of the analysis showed that interactivity and immediacy had a positive effect on telepresence. Telepresence, in turn, affected perceived usefulness and enjoyment, which then significantly affected purchase intention. In addition, some paths confirmed the moderating effect of consumer innovativeness. In consumers with high innovativeness, interactivity was found to have a greater influence on telepresence and perceived usefulness had a more significant influence on purchase intention than in consumers with low innovativeness. Conversely, in consumers with low innovativeness, perceived enjoyment was found to have a greater influence on purchase intention than in consumers with high innovativeness. The significance of this study is that it expands research on customer perception of virtual fitting services within online shopping platforms.

The subjects of the study were the international and domestic universities that have education goals of practical education, art education, and combined-typed education. The research was done by classifying curricular from basic course to advanced course. Production stage was divided into planning-production-follow up stage. The idea area was divided into three parts form basic emotion training to creativity development. This paper is focused on presenting to configure the basic features of the educational center for 4-year curriculum based on the course content and curriculum of international and domestic universities. The study of training course required for the configuration of the course of study focused on subjects which match the characteristics of major curriculum based on common subjects, major required courses, major electives were classified as the opening. As a result, It is difficult to lead common of educational contents because of the study of education-oriented curriculum and interdisciplinary educational goals of each university are different from other individual characteristics

  • "Arts and Cultural Education Promotion Act" comes with institutionalization of arts and cultural education in Korea, and tends to mean facilitating occupational professionalism in historical perspectives. In particular, the nature of vocational identity of professional educators in arts and cultural education is the main focus of analysis and debate for human resource development. Accordingly, this study emphasizes the diversity of arts and cultural education practices and reveals that the vocational training of arts and cultural education experts should be based on various curriculum and programs which take an interdisciplinary approach. In this respect, excessive simplification of vocational identity of the experts may exert negative effect on the diversity and excellence of arts and cultural education. To meet the needs of the arts and cultural education, curriculum and training program for university level should be newly developed or revised through an interdisciplinary approach with the job analysis of practicing professionals.

  • The characteristics of performing arts differ from those of utilitarian goods in terms of economics. Factors other than price need to be considered to understand the demand for performing arts. Audience surveys as well as econometric demand studies have confirmed that socio-economic factors such as age, income, employment, and education are major determinants of the demand for performing arts. This study focused on the attributes of concerts rather than consumer characteristics to determine the concerts audiences select in terms of transaction cost. Genre, price, internet search trends, and the purpose of performance as well as price are tested as determinants of demand by using the data set for a major concert hall in Seoul. Genre and the specific purpose of concerts influence the demand for concerts. Internet search trends of the performer are used as indicators of popularity and information exposure, which are positively correlated with demand. This result supports the hypothesis that larger audiences would attend concerts that require lower information search costs. To note, price has a positive effect on demand in the higher price range, which means that concerts at higher prices attract larger audiences, whereas normal goods have a negative slope in the demand curve. This result can be explained by the hypothesis that consumers use price as an indicator of the quality expected of a concert. Transaction cost for selecting classical concerts thus forms an inverse-U shape curve against ticket price. These results provide some explanation of why audiences of classical music choose to attend concerts at high ticket prices while offering evidence in favor of the hypothesis that performing arts are selected in a social context.

  • Recently, interdisciplinary studies have been receiving attention. Interdisciplinary research, especially in arts and technology, is a very interesting issue. E.A.T. was founded in New York in 1966 by artists and engineers. Based on the E.A.T. case, this study analyzed the period background in which art and technology could be converged, and the characteristics of E.A.T. works. The analysis results of the period background revealed that five factors influenced the organization and development of E.A.T.. Economic factors, artistic factors, technical factors, educational factors, and sponsored cultural factors influenced the convergence of art and technology. E.A.T. works collaborated by artists and engineers generally had three characteristics. Convergence across various fields, multi-sensitivity utilizing different senses, and interaction between the environment and humans appeared in E.A.T. works. This study provides meaningful implications for both artists and engineers who wish to overcome the limitations of artistic expression and develop new technology.

  • In the 1980's, Lee Geun-sam wrote critiques that analyzed North Korea's performing arts and ideology. In the critiques, he posits the following characteristics of North Korea's performing arts. First, the works are designed in such a way to befit the purpose of the authorities' policy. Second, the works embrace political ideology whose purpose concerns class struggle. During the critique process, Lee Geun-sam compares the "freedom" of the performing arts activities in South Korea and the "regulatory" aspect of North Korea's performing arts activities and reveals implicitly the superiority of South Korea's system. In addition, Lee Geun-sam criticizes the political ideology of North Korea's performing arts and objects to viewing the concept of ideology from a Marxist viewpoint. According to Lee Geun-sam, an ideology is explained as an idea system representing an artist's conscious/unconscious worldview. Also, he contends that arts should distance itself from political ideology.

  • Generative AI, exemplified by models like ChatGPT, has revolutionized human-machine interactions in the 21st century. As these advancements permeate various sectors, their intersection with the arts is both promising and challenging. Despite the arts' historical resistance to AI replacement, recent developments have sparked active research in AI's role in artistry. This study delves into the potential of AI in visual arts education, highlighting the necessity of swift adaptation amidst the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This research, conducted at a 4-year global higher education institution located in Gyeongbuk, involved 70 participants who took part in a creative convergence module course project. The study aimed to examine the influence of AI collaboration in visual arts, analyzing distinctions across majors, grades, and genders. The results indicate that creative activities with AI positively influence students' creativity and digital media literacy. Based on these findings, there is a need to further develop effective educational strategies and directions that incorporate AI.
