An Enhancement of Removing Noise Branches by Detecting Noise Blobs (잡영블랍 검출에 의한 잡영가지 제거 방법의 개선)

  • Several methods have been studied to prune the parasitic branches that cause unfortunately from thinning a shape to get its skeleton. We found that the symmetric path finding method was most efficient because it followed the boundary pixels of the shape just once. In this paper, its extended method is proposed to apply to removing the noise branches that protrude out of the boundary of a segmented or extracted shape in a given image. The proposed method can remove a noise branch with one-pixel width and also remove the noise branch that includes a round shape called a noise blob. The method uses a 4-8-directional boundary-following technique to determine symmetric paths and finds noise branches with noise blobs by detecting quasi-symmetric paths. Its time complexity is a linear function of the number of boundary pixels. Interactively selectable parameters are used to define various types of noise branches flexibly, which are the branch - size parameter and the blob-size parameter. Experimental results for a practical shape and various artificial shapes showed that the proposed method was very useful for simplifying the shapes.

A Study on the Improvement of FEM model in Plate Vibration by Modification of Young's Modulus and Shape (FEM 모델의 형상과 감쇠계수의 추정을 통한 평판진동해석의 개선에 대한 연구)

  • Finite Element Method is a strong tool to analyse static and dynamic problem of a structure. FEM is a good method for static problem, but for dynamic problem there are some differences between real phenomena and analyzed phenomena. Therefore some modifications are needed to identify two results. In this paper authors propose a genetic algorithm method 1) to adjust dimensions of plate for identifying natural frequencies, 2) to fit amplitude of FEM Frequency Response Function(FRF) onto it of real FRF. Analysis by raw FEM data gave questions if the results were for the same object. By only adjusting Young's modulus much better accordances were obtained, but limitation existed still. Very good agreements were achieved by shape modification and damping coefficient identification.

  • The objective of this study is to propose a new channel shape that improves thermal-hydraulic performance. The existing Zigzag channel has high pressure loss due to flow separation and reverse flow. To improve this disadvantage, partial straight channel is inserted into bended points. Also, the effects of straight channel's length change on heat transfer and pressure loss are analyzed. Thermal-hydraulic performance of the new shape and existing Zigzag channel are quantitatively compared in terms of Goodness Factor. Mass flow rate was changed from $1.41{\times}10^{-4}$ to $2.48{\times}10^{-4}kg/s$. The average volume goodness factor of 1mm straight channel shape was increased by 25% compared to the Zigzag channel.

  • The torque ripple of the hydraulic pumps for the Electro-hydrostatic Actuators can disturb the cylinder position control under slewing speed operation condition. In principle, the periodic change of the reaction torque generated by a piston type pump is highly dependent on the waveform of its cylinder chamber pressure. In case of uni-directional pumps operating at constant speed, the transient overshoot and rising slope of the cylinder pressure can be adjusted by the precompression angle and notch shape of their valve plates. Therefore, the influence of the valve plate geometry on the torque ripple magnitude of a bent-axis type piston pump for EHA application was investigated in this study. The results showed that any improvement of the torque ripple of such a bi-directional pump can not be achieved by modifying the valve plate geometry, regardless of its operation speed.

A Study on the Estimation of Stress Relaxed Zone around a Tunnel Periphery for the Design of 2-Arch Tunnel Lining (2-ARCH 터널의 라이닝 설계를 위한 터널굴착주변 응력이완 영역산정에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the existing methods proposed to estimate the relaxed load due to a tunnel excavation are compared and analyzed. Also a new approach, by which the stress relaxed zone around an excavated tunnel periphery can be systematically estimated, was suggested for the design of 2-arch tunnel lining. To this end, local factors of safety are calculated from the redistributed stresses after the excavation of a tunnel. The height of the relaxed load is inferred based on the assumption that the stress relaxed zone might coincide with the region corresponding to the local safety factor of 2.0 or 3.0. The new approach proposed in this study has the advantage of estimating the height of the relaxed load independent of the shape of a tunnel and the ground conditions, Since the height of the relaxed load is estimated according to the local factor of safety, which is a relatively clear criterion, the designer's subjectivity involved in the design of concrete tunnel lining might be reduced.

선택적 투과막에 이용 가능한 지르코니아 박막의 광학적 특성 평가

  • 태양전지의 기본구조는 전면전극, 후면전극, 그리고 이들 사이에 위치하는 광흡수층으로 구성된다. 여기에 더하여 광흡수층에서 반사되거나 투과되는 빛 에너지의 손실을 줄이기 위해 윗면에는 반사방지막을, 아랫면에는 고반사막을 적용한다. 투명 태양전지의 경우 고반사막을 대신하여 선택적 투과막을 적용할 경우 변환효율을 향상 시킬 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 투명 태양전지의 구성물질로서 이용 가능한 선택적 투과 특성을 보이는 지르코니아 박막의 광학적 특성을 보고한다. RF magnetron sputtering 방식을 이용하여 지르코니아 박막을 증착하고 두께에 따른 광학적 특성 및 표면 형상 변화를 관찰하였다. 투과율 및 반사율을 측정한 결과 지르코니아 박막의 투과율은 400 nm 이상의 파장에서 약 85% 이상의 양호한 값을 나타내었다. 반사율은 평균적으로 적외선 영역에서 약 35%의 수치를 나타내었다. 이러한 광학적 특성으로부터 지르코니아 박막은 선택적 투과막으로 적합한 물질이라는 결론을 얻을 수 있다.

A Study on the Influence of the Base Region Modeling on the Aerodynamic Characteristics of a Launch Vehicle Using CFD (CFD에 의한 발사체 공력특성에 미치는 기저부 영역 모델링의 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This research presents the influence of the base region modeling on the aerodynamic characteristics of a launch vehicle using CFD. The vicinity of a launch vehicle is divided into four zones, and four computational cases are made using these four zones. The aerodynamic coefficients are predicted for the angle-of-attack of 6 degrees and Mach numbers ranging from 0.4 to 2.86. It was found that modeling of the base region should not be neglected for the prediction of the aerodynamic characteristics of a launch vehicle in subsonic and transonic regions. It was also found that the modeling of the sting support used in the wind tunnel test is necessary to get a better agreement with the experiments.

Finger Counting Algorithm in the Hand with Stuck Fingers (붙어 있는 손가락을 가진 손에서 손가락 개수 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposes a finger counting algorithm for a hand with stuck fingers. The proposed algorithm is based on the fact that straight line type shadows are inevitably generated between fingers. It divides the hand region into the thumb region and the four fingers region for effective shadow detection, and generates an edge image in each region. Projection curves are generated by appling a line detection and a projection technique to each edge image, and the peaks of the curves are detected as candidates for finger shadows. And then peaks due to finger shadows are extracted from them and counted. In the finger counting experiment on hand images expressing various shapes with stuck fingers, the counting success rate is from 83.3% to 100% according to the number of fingers, and 93.1% on the whole. It also shows that if hand images are generated under controlled conditions, the failure cases can be sufficiently improved.

  • 하천의 홍수터는 평상시 수면위로 노출되어 국민의 여가생활을 위한 공원, 주차장 등으로 활용되다 홍수기 수위가 상승하면 침수되는 하천공간이다. 홍수범람 면적 또는 홍수위 산정을 위한 수치모의 시, 홍수의 평면적인 변화를 분석하기 위해서는 1차원 모의결과와 지형정보를 연계하여 범람면적을 산정하거나 2차원 수치모형의 격자를 대상공간에 대하여 구축한 후 모의를 수행한다. 1차원 수치모형은 계산효율이 우수하고 지류의 합류에 의한 영향을 다수 반영하거나, 긴 구간의 하천단면 구축을 통하여 경계조건이 수치해석 결과에 미치는 영향을 최소화할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 그러나 지형의 영향으로 발생하는 국부적인 유속변화와 유향의 평면적인 분포에 의해 발생하는 범람면적의 변화를 반영하기 어렵다. 홍수범람을 고려하여 제작하는 홍수위험지도는 2차원 수치모형의 결과를 기반으로 한다. 2차원 수치모형은 하도의 만곡, 제방의 형상 등과 같은 지형에 의한 유속장의 변화, 흐름영역의 수축 및 확대에 의한 유속의 변화 등을 자세히 반영할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 반면에 수치격자 생성 및 계산결과 도출에 소요되는 시간이 길고 계산영역 설정의 한계로 인하여 경계조건이 흐름해석결과에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 문제점이 있다. 이와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 국내외적으로 1차원과 2차원 수치해석기법을 연계하여 하나의 모형으로 구축한 1-2차원 수치해석 모형이 개발 또는 적용되고 있다. 1-2차원 연계해석기법은 1차원 해석영역과 2차원 해석영역을 연계함에 있어서 흐름방향 연계와 횡방향 연계로 구분할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 1차원과 2차원 수치해석을 연계하는 기법에 따라서 발생하는 수치모의결과를 비교하고 적용성을 검토하였다. 수리실험 관측결과가 있는 사례에 모형을 적용한 후, 한강지형에 수치모형을 적용하고 그 결과를 비교한다. 또한, 계산에 소요되는 시간을 비교하기 위하여 2차원 수치격자의 해상도를 다양하게 적용하여 수치실험을 수행한다. 분석결과를 기반으로 홍수위험지도 제작, 홍수위산정 및 홍수예보 등에 새로운 기술의 적용성을 검토한다.

  • The modeling of uplift pressure within dam, on the foundation on which it was constructed, and on the interface between the dam and foundation is a critical aspect in the analysis of concrete gravity dams, i.e. crack stability in concrete dam can correctly be predicted when uplift pressures are accurately modelled. Current models consider a uniform uplift distribution, but recent experimental results show that it varies along the crack faces and the procedures for modeling uplift pressures are well established for the traditional hand-calculation methods, but this is not the case for finite element (FE) analysis. In large structures, such as dams, because of smaller size of the fracture process zone with respect to the structure size, limited errors should occur under the assumptions of linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM). In this paper, the fracture behaviour of concrete gravity dams mainly subjected to uplift Pressure at the crack face was studied. Triangular type, trapezoidal type and parabolic type distribution of the uplift pressure including uniform type were considered in case of evaluating stress intensity factor by surface integral method. The effects of body forces, overtopping pressures are also considered and a parametric study of gravity dams under the assumption of LEFM is performed.
