  • The purpose of this study is to examine the dispute over creativity domain at schools in Korea. In other words, this study is to examine the creativity domain among all subjects, a group of high level performance, and a group of low level performance in creativity. Based on ability-differentiation hypothesis, correlation among 4 domains, correlation between divergent thinking variables of domain-generality and 4 domains of domain-speciality, and multiple linear regression have been computed. The results are opposed to the hypothesis. The group of low level performance is related to domain-speciality. The group of high level performance, however, has relationships neither domain-generality nor domain-speciality. Instead of differentiation between domain-generality and domain-speciality, the results support the domain-complementarity.

  • The way of approaching 'the relationship between love and justice' varies from person to person. We can argue for superiority of love or for superiority of justice by understanding the relationship between the two as conflicting. We can also argue that we need each other by understanding each other as a complementary relationship rather than an oppositional relationship. Hegel, however, sees love and justice as independent constitutive principles valid in different areas and does not regard the two as opposing nor complementary. This can only be understood when the structure of Hegel's theory of recognition is properly assumed. The relationship between love and justice will be considered mainly in Hegel's theory of recognition. Key philosophical points of Hegel's theory of recognition and consequences drawn on the relationship between love and justice on the basis of the theory will be examined. This can be summarized in the form of a thesis, roughly as follows. - Hegel presents love, justice and solidarity, that are various forms of recognition, to a family, a civil society and a state, that are three forms of social relations, as their constitutive principles. He does not grasp the relationship between love and justice as oppositional nor as complementary, that is different from many people's general perspective on the relationship of the two. - In Hegel's theory of recognition, love and justice differ in the areas in which they are valid. Love is a valid principle in the intimacy, and justice is a valid principle in non-intimacy. So, if justice and rights are asserted in intimacy, the area of intimacy is destroyed. Conversely, if love is asserted in non-intimacy, it cannot exercise real influence. - In the political community such as a state, where intimacy and non-intimacy overlap each other, the principle of solidarity is needed as a new constitutive principle, since a state does not stand on the principle of love as in a family nor on the principle of justice as in a civil society.

  • One of the most controversial issues in contemporary research of creativity, whether a person"s creativity is domain-specific or domain-general, was investigated with 109 second grade children in the present study. The purposes of this study sere to empirically examine (1) the relationships among children's creative performances measured by three product-based assessments (story-telling, collage-making, and math word problems) in three domains, and (2) the relationships between children's general creative thinking sills, measured by two divergent thinking tests, and children's creative performances. The findings of this study support the position that creative ability in young children is rather (but not absolutely0 domain-specific. Children exhibited a range of creative ability across different domains rather than a uniform creative ability in diverse domains, indicating there is considerable intra-individual variation in creative ability by domain. Divergent thinking measures did not have great power in predicting creative performance in at least two of three, if not all, domains assessed in the study. It is implied from the study that it is not possible to reliably predict a child"s creative ability in one domain based on his/her creative ability in other domains or his/her overall divergent thinking ability. Implication of the study in connection with educational practices for gifted children is discussed.

  • In this article, the author inquired the multi-layered sphere of a commoner's settlement of Jangha-ri in modem times to approach the territoriality and socio-spatial characteristics of it. This settlement has originated in a lineage settlement of Jinju-Gang, and has experienced socio-spatial cohesion since its making(the 17th Century). Especially, it is found that the territoriality of Jangha-ri has fluctuated in times and has obtained multi-layeredness according to the human-nature relationship, to the social relationship, and to the political relationship of villagers. As a result, it is interpreted that the socio-spatial characteristics and territoriality of Jangha-ri in modem times do not only have a physical reality, but also social, political, cultural one.

  • This study is composed of 2 parts. Study 1 empirically examined (1) the relationships among children's creative performances measured by three product-based assessments (story-telling, collage-making, and math word problems) in three domains, and (2) the relationships between children's general creative thinking skills, measured by two divergent thinking tests, and children's creative performances. Study 2 is a three-year follow up study of the study 1. Study 2 followed up some (71) children who participated in study 1. In study 2, long-term stability of the performance based assessment involving story-telling, collage making, and math problem making were examined during the three-year time period. In addition, study 2 tried to look at the methods effect of the domain issue of creativity, comparing self-report scale and performance-based assessment. The findings of this study support the position that creative ability in young children is rather (but not absolutely) domain-specific. The long-term stability of the performance-based assessments compares favorably with stability figures for other creativity tests. Results also indicate that there are some method effect in explaining the domain issue of creativity. Implication of the study in connection with educational practices for gifted children is discussed.

  • This research was conducted to find out the relation between sensory processing ability and Interpersonal Problem of university students. The subjects were 177 university students whose curricula were similar. The researchers made the subjects fill out the Adolescent/Adult sensory profile and Korean inventory of interpersonal problem(KIIP). The analysis of the relevancy between the Adolescent/Adult profile and the Interpersonal problem showed that 'Low Registration' is related to all aspects of KIIP. 'Sensation Seeking' showed relation with Domineering/Controlling(r=0.150, p<0.05), self sacrificing(r=0.175, p<0.05), Intrusive (r=0.218, p<0.01), Interpersonal sensitivity(r=0.196, p<0.01), and Need for social approval(r=0.149, p<0.05). 'Sensation Sensitivity' showed relation with all aspects of KIIP. 'Sensation avoiding' showed relatively high relation with Domineering/ Controlling(r=0.403, p<0.01), Vindictive(r=0.420, p<0.01), Interpersonal ambivalence (r=0.452, p<0.01), and aggression(r=0.417, p<0.01). Through this research, it turned out that 'Sensory Processing ability' and the Interpersonal Problem are generally related, especially 'Low Registration' and 'Sensation Sensitivity' are highly related to the Interpersonal Problem.
