It has been widely researched in many studies what is the most effective way to learn English as a second language. It has been generally accepted that the most effective teaching method is to make students interested in learning of English. Teaching method has to be modified with the change of the times according to the demand of the students. The purpose of this study is to reveal that language teaming method through internet could be more effective than that of the existing teaching one by offline loaming. For this purpose some subject students were divided by two groups of the experimental and of the controlled. From the result of the study it could be derived that teaching method, by means of cyber lecture, make a great effect not only on the attitude but on the achievement of the students when they are in the class of English as a second language. This paper also shows what could be the typical model for the teaching method by internet based on the experiment. This kind of way of teaching is supported by the questionnaire which has much more positive response from the students who were in the member of experimental group. Finally such a experiment would be described based on the Web-oriented teaching method with the respect of education of digital contents.

Although a number of studies have been conducted in Korea since 2000 on the impact of early English education, their interpretation is still not conclusive, due to their lack of control groups and failure to control for third factors and use valid measurements. The present study was designed to examine the effect of an English education program on young children's English proficiency after 8 months using the most well-known official English proficiency measure, the WIDA for kindergarteners. In addition, the children's Korean language proficiency, cognitive abilities, personality, parents' SES, and parents' attitudinal variables before the education were measured and controlled. The results indicated that the intervention group performed better than the control group in both listening and speaking skills, even when all relevant factors were considered. This effect, however, was only found in the item-level analyses.
This study investigates the effectiveness of foreign language learning through diverse treatments in virtual settings, particularly by differentiating virtual environments with three textual enhancement techniques. A 2 × 3 mixed-factorial design was used, treating virtual environments as within-subject factors and textual enhancement techniques as between-subject factors. Participants experienced two videos, each in different virtual learning environments with one of the random textual enhancement techniques. The results showed that the interaction between different virtual environments and textual enhancement techniques had a statistically significant impact on presence among groups. In examining main effects of virtual environments, significant differences were observed in flow and attitude toward pre-post learning. Also, main effects of textual enhancements notably influenced flow, intention to use, learning satisfaction, and learning confidence. This study highlights the potential of Metaverse in foreign language learning, suggesting that learner experiences and effects vary with different virtual environments.
A large number of current language processing systems use a part-of-speech tagger for preprocessing. Most language processing systems required a tagger with the highest possible accuracy. Specially, the use of domain-specific advantages has become a hot issue in machine translation community to improve the translation quality. This paper addresses a method for customizing an HMM or LHMM based English tagger from general domain to specific domain. The proposed method is to semi-automatically customize the output and transition probabilities of HMM or LHMM using domain-specific raw corpus. Through the experiments customizing to Patent domain, our LHMM tagger adapted by the proposed method shows the word tagging accuracy of 98.87% and the sentence tagging accuracy of 78.5%. Also, compared with the general tagger, our tagger improved the word tagging accuracy of 2.24% (ERR: 66.4%) and the sentence tagging accuracy of 41.0% (ERR: 65.6%).
The purposes of the study are to introduce and apply an activity that can help improve student-initiated learning on the TOEIC Speaking Test (TOEICST) performance and to see students' attitude toward the activity. Twenty-eight university students in Chungcheong province engaged in learning based on this activity. In the present study, the activity proposed by McCormick and Vercellotti (2013) and Stillwell, Curabba, Alexander, Kidd, Kim, Stone, & Wyle (2010) was modified and adapted[14][19]. The outline of the Task Recording Activity (TRA) consisted of three steps: preparation step, Task Recording Activity step, and evaluation step. As data collection of the study, a survey and students' journal were utilized and qualitatively analyzed. The results showed that student-initiated learning activity could be applied positively not only in communicative lessons, but in TOEICST specific lessons as well. Additionally, participants showed positive attitudes toward self-transcription and self-correction. Some implications of the study are that the TRA can be applied to generate autonomous learners studying for the TOEIC Speaking Test, that the guideline for different proficiency can be developed to help them improve their self-reflection, and that students need to have an active attitude to lead their own learning.

The present study attempted to identify the metacognitive strategies used by L2 writers at the university level as well as their particular aspects which might influence the use of these strategies. Twenty-seven participants, all of whom were enrolled in an English course, were asked to write an expository essay and then complete a questionnaire which includes their beliefs and attitudes toward L2 writing experience and the metacognitive strategies during the writing process. It was found that even though inexpert writers knew and employed as many strategies as the expert counterparts did, they were unsuccessful in the quality of their texts. Simply possessing a repertoire of metacognitive strategies was not enough for successful L2 writing. The failure of the inexpert writers to apply these metacognitive strategies in an effective manner was influenced by affective factors such as anxiety, self-confidence, self-concept, etc. As a result of this study, a pedagogical implication is suggested.

Although Flipped Classroom(FC) which has recently attracted attention of educational field, showed its various educational effects such as learning academic achievement, attitude, collaborative learning and self-regulated learning. other studies also showed a number of significant problems and challenges in practically implementing. Thus, this study aims to investigate in-service and pre-service teachers awareness of FC in order to explore its educational feasibility for successfully adopting it to classrooms through the alternative solutions to its limitations. To achieve this goal, we firstly conducted literature review on teaching and learning models and guidelines to draw educational prerequisites and then analyzed needs of 156 pre-service teachers and 42 in-service teachers. According to survey results, 80% of teachers are willing to apply FC to their classes and hope to be offered with pre-learning activity materials and guidelines. They consider junior high school students and college students as appropriate learners, social science, science, Korean, and English as suitable subjects, and video content as optimal materials for pre-learning activities.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the attitude toward English learning in the dental hygiene students. Methods : A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by the 498 dental hygiene students in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon and Chungcheong Province. The questionnaire consisted of motive of English learning, confidence and interest. Data were analyzed by SPSS 19.0 program. Results : Approximately 85 percent of the students had strong motivation for English learning. Test-based English learning generally discouraged the students(61.8%). The students found that listening and speaking was the best way of learning English(44.6%). Most of the students were very interested in English but the cramming method of learning made them tired(p<0.05). Conclusions : Self-directed learning is the best way of learning English to the students. The curriculum should consist of actual listening and speaking practices instead of test-based study.
There is a paucity of research on socialization of novice teachers that has been found to have influence on their career through studies in different subject fields in various regions. This study addresses how novice English teachers perceive their socialization at the first years. It aims to draw implications for novice teacher support for training and professional development. Data were obtained from a questionnaire survey. From the review of the relevant literature, six themes were identified as significant factors in novice teachers' socialization process: relationship with pupils, teaching, rapport with colleagues, support from headteachers, relationship with parents, and expectations from the society. There were 44 questions under six key factors. 99 secondary English novice teachers participated in the survey. The analysis of the gathered responses to each question reveals information on their socialization process to become a secondary English teacher including adaptation challenges for professional development, which have been neglected but are gaining more attention from different stakeholders. This is being increasingly supported in the time of the coronavirus (COIVD-19) pandemic crisis, disruption and recovery. The study is concluded with some implications for research on novice teacher induction, and teacher education policy and practice.

In this paper, we propose the positive effects of Virtual Reality(VR) sports classes and the foundation for VR sports to become the basis of lifelong sports education through the application of physical education classes in sports virtual reality programs are to be provided. For this purpose, the effect of VR sports experience on sports satisfaction, sports immersion, and sports attitude factors was investigated for 281 elementary school students in Busan. Results It was found that VR sports experience had a significant effect on sports satisfaction, sports satisfaction had a significant effect on sports immersion and sports attitude, and sports immersion had a significant effect on sports attitude. The great advantage of sports virtual reality is that sports activities for items that are difficult to deal with in physical education classes and unpopular items will be easily performed. In addition, by using a program that links physical education classes with English and mathematics, physical education will be recognized as a convergence subject by elementary school students, and at the same time, it will become an integrated subject that can acquire fun elements and learning elements at the same time through play or games.
