한국어나 일본어는 영어 등 서구의 언어와 비교하여 매우 발달된 경어 체계를 가지고 있다. 그러나 이러한 경어 체계는 이들 언어를 모국어로 사용하지 않는 사람들을 포함하여 모국어로 사용하는 많은 사람들까지도 정확하게 구사하기는 어려워 하는 것이 현실이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 경어 체계의 정확한 구사 능력은 적절한 어휘 선택 능력과 함께 자연스러운 의사 소통을 위한 중요한 언어 능력으로 간주되고 있다. 특히 기계번역기나 문법검사기를 구현하고자 할 때 이러한 경어 체계를 정확하게 이해하는 시스템의 구현은 한 차원 높은 자연스러운 표현을 제공하기 위하여 필수적이라고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 한국어의 경어 체계를 조사하고 결합범주문법을 통하여 이를 검증하는 시스템을 소개한 뒤 사극 대본을 대상으로 하여 이 시스템의 성능을 확인한다.

As the service of mobile internet has been expended, student users are increase. The computers have been widely used in a education field as the teaching tool by improvement of the multimedia contents processing and user interface. The English learning using the computers in the restricted education environment provides motivations and effective learning to learners, but still have some problem such as teaching and evaluating without consideration for differences of individual levels. In order to solve the problems and take the advantages, we propose the intelligent tutoring system for english learning with mobile technology. Overcoming limitations of the mobile environment and using proper treacher's roles,. We have applied the conventional estimation method of the intellectual learner level for students. Also, we have proposed the diagnostic function in order to determine the method of teaching-learing and item disposition that each leaner prefers. Then we have designed and implemented the expert module, providing the feedback for teaching, of the intelligent turoring system for mobile english learning. This system will be able to support the interaction between teachers and students and replace some roles of teacher in the mobile english learning.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the effects of schema activation on reading comprehension. The subject of a sample survey was a 36 student experimental group and a 32 student control group, total 68 students at third grade class of C Middle School in Gwangju. Students ability to read English in the two groups were almost the same through, which was shown by pre-test administered before the beginning of the experiment. As a pre-reading activity, the experimental group was showed the pictures and vocabularies related to the text before reading. The other control group did Grammar Translation Method about text. The data needed for this study was obtained by the questionnaires with 25 questions about the English reading. The data analyzing method was t-test through the statistics program SPSS 12.0. The result of this study is as follows : First, the experimental group got a more meaningful score than the control group at the test. Second, pre-reading activities for providing prior knowledge of the text were affected by the student's English proficiency, peculiarly more effective on low level student than advanced level. Studying English reading through schema activation led the students to be present in classes with interests, so the experimental group showed more academic accomplishments than the control group.

Journal of Convergence for Information Technology. This study explores how native speakers (NSs) and non-native speakers (NNSs) of English negotiate meanings during conversational interactions to achieve successful communication. This study involved 40 participants: 20 native English speakers and 20 Korean university students. The participants were divided into 20 pairs, with each pair consisting of one NS and one NNS. Tasks for conversation were given and the execution recorded in order to collect data. 37 recorded conversations were transcribed and used for analysis, including statistical analyses. Results showed that both NSs and NNSs mutually put in effort for successful communication. While NSs mostly played the role of leading the natural flow of the conversation, encouraging their non-native interlocutors to speak, NNSs used various strategies to compensate for their lack of linguistic competence in the target language. NNSs employed a wide range of communicative strategies to keep the conversation going. The results of this study contribute to a better understanding of interactions between NSs and NNSs and yield pedagogical implications.

The purpose of this paper is to develop and apply an electronic English textbook for the teaching and learning of 3rd grade students. For this purpose, the textbook was based on XML to maximize the advantages of the electronic textbook format, and avoid the disadvantages of the CD-ROM that $3^{rd}$ grade classes currently use. After electronic textbook was developed, focus group interview was implemented to confirm the effectiveness of that based on interaction, satisfaction, and interests. As a result of this study, interaction, satisfaction, and interests of students will be improved through the use of electronic textbook and it is anticipated self-directed learning ability will be improved. Also, we anticipate that the students' learning effectiveness will be enhanced.

This study investigates the usage of smartphones in English listening activities. 71 students answered the 10-item questionnaire after doing listening activity using their own smartphone for one semester in the course of Practical English listening and reading. The findings show that listening activity done with smartphone enhanced students' interest in English listening and improved their English listening skills because smart phones made customized learning possible. However, the major limitation of using smart phone is that students are distracted during activity by smart phones' other functions such as SMS and messenger. To reduce such distraction, I suggest that individual listening activity with smart phones be mixed with instructor-led activity using a classroom computer in about 50 to 50 ratio. The ratio might vary depending on the level of students' English listening skills. These findings will make a contribution to the boost of digital convergence English learning.

This study aimed at providing a comprehensive account of the sources and causes of errors in business emails that Korean college students wrote using a translation machine. Data were collected from 21 emails written by the students who took a business English course. Findings indicated that the students tended to make frequent errors in verb use and verb tense as well as a definite article, countable/noncountable nouns, time adverbs and prepositions. Therefore, the study suggested that the students' common errors imply that they experience some difficulties learning these linguistic features. Given that learners' errors can give us valuable insights into teaching and learning how to write in English, pedagogical suggestions are put forward based on the study results.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of teaching English through the techniques of storytelling with dramatization upon children's competence of English speaking and listening. These techniques are considered to enable children to have ample opportunity of use in and exposure to English, as well as interest. This study is sequenced as selecting stories by way of consulting literatures, developing a teaching model for practising classes through storytelling with dramatization, and analyzing the data resulting from the pre- and post-listening/speaking tests using the SPSS program. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: the experimental group shows better significance than the control one in the listening and speaking post-test. Therefore, literary units also need to be incorporated into English textbooks in order to improve children's aural-oral competence through the storytelling with dramatization.

온라인 문자인식에 대한 연구는 지난 30여년에 걸쳐 수행되었지만, 무제약 필기 단어 인식에 대한 연구는 활성화 된지가 오래되지 않은 실정이다. 필기자에 따른 다양한 서체의 변이와 방대한 탐색공간, 그리고 PDA(personal digital assistant)등의 제약된 계산 능력으로 인해 학문적으로는 좋은 연구결과가 나오고 있지만 실용화에는 아직도 해결해야 할 문제가 많다. 대부분의 온라인 문자 인식 시스템에서는 인식 시스템에서는 인식 시스템 자체의 성능만으로는 인식 성능의 한계가 있기 때문에 여러 가지 외부 지식을 사용한다. 그 중 대표적인 것이 단어 사전을 이용하는 것인데, 단어 사전의 크기를 미리 줄일 수 있다면 인식기의 성능이 좋아질 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 온라인 무제약 영어 필기 단어 인식을 위한 필기 데이터의 전역적 특성을 분석하고, 각각의 특성에 따른 사전 감축 비율과 오류에 대해 연구하고자 한다.

인간의 사고 기능과 학습기능이 '뇌'를 바탕으로 이루어진다고 할 때, 뇌의 긴장을 풀어 원래의 건강하고 창조적인 이완 상태에서의 학습 상태가 유효하게 된다. 즉, 뇌파가 " $\alpha$" 상태 가 되었을 때 긴장된 신체의 각 부분이 충분히 이완되고 두뇌는 맑고 건강한 상태를 유지하여 활발하고 창조적인 상태가 된다. 뇌파의 측정 및 분석된 기존 연구에 의하면, 인간의 심리상태와 신체 상태, 행동 패턴에도 직, 간접적인 영향을 주어 뇌파의 조절이 인간 잠재능력 개발의 첩경이라는 결과가 보고되어진다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구에서는 뇌의 특성을 고려하여 뇌를 이완시킴으로써 학생들의 학습능력을 향상시키 기 위한 새로운 접근 방법을 시도한다. 뇌파 조절이 가해지는 환경하에 학습 효율의 변화 정도를 정성적( 심리적, 학습적, 신체적) 및 정량적(영어 단어 암기력 TEST, 뇌파 특정 등)으로 평가 및 분석을 통해 뇌파 조절 효과가 학생들의 학습 효율을 더욱 향상 시킬 수 있는 지의 타당성을 검증하고 그 결과를 바탕으로 새로운 학습 방법을 모색하고자 한다. 한편, 본 연구에서는 실험 대상을 본 대학 임의의 2학년 학생 13 명 을 대상으로 하고 실험기간은 약 4개월에 걸쳐 실험 하였다. 뇌파 측정은 13명중 임의의 학생 7명을 선정 하여 각 40분씩 측정 분석하였다. 또한 영어 단어 암기력 TEST를 실시하여 그 결과를 뇌파 조절 전,후로 나누어 비교 분석하였다. 정성적 분석으로서 종합 설문지를 이용한 15 개 항목의 5점 척도를 사용하여 분석하였으며 가가 통계 이론을 이용하여 검증하였다. 뇌파 측정은 수행 전후 비교 결과 " .alpha. " 노출 비율이 수행 전보다 수행 후가 다소 높은 비유로 나타났으며, 특히 영어 단어 암기력은 평균적으로 크게 상승되는 것으로 나타났다. 정성적 분석 결과에서는 많은 심리적 변화 상태가 나타나고 있지만 전체적으로 마음의 안정감, 몸의 긴장 이완에 따른 건강 상태 유지, 수업 집중도 향상 등이 나타났다. 위와 같은 종합 적 분석 결과에 따라, 본 연구는 제조 현장의 생산성 향상 및 품질 향상과 연계하여 작업자의 작업 집중도 향상, 작업자의 육체적, 심리적 변화에 따른 생산성 및 품질 향상 변화 정도 등의 산업공학(인간공학) 제 분야의 여러 측면에서 연구 및 적용이 가능하리라 사료된다.
