The frequency and percentage were calculated and analyzed for each research period, research topic, research type, and research subject. The research results were as follows. First, from 1998 to 2019, there was a continuous increase in each period. Second, regarding the research subject, the themes related to parents were the most researched, followed by the child, parenting environment, and parent-child. • This study examined the effect of parental socioeconomic position on the association between birth outcomes and infant mortality in early and late 2000's. Linked Birth and Infant Death data sets from 2001 to 2003 (T1) and from 2006 to 2008 (T2), provided by the Korea National Statistical Office, were used for analysis. Birth outcomes were categorized into four groups: normal term, small-for-gestational age (SGA), large-for-gestational age (LGA) and intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR). Infant death was defined as the death of a live-born child under one year of age; indicators of parental socioeconomic position were limited to parental education and occupation. The results showed that T2 infant mortality hazard ratios of SGA and IUGR have increased compared to T1. Particularly, preterm and low birth weight babies with shorter gestational age and lighter birth weight than T1 have elevated in T2, possibly indicating that population quality might be continuously aggravated. Moreover, the effect of maternal age on infant mortality has disappeared, rather that of parents' socioeconomic position has increased during the periods, which entailed growing disparities in infant mortality by their social class. Further studies should be therefore done to estimate the effect of parental socioeconomic position on the relationship between birth outcomes and infant mortality in the near future.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify factors that affect the language development of infants. For the analysis, data of three years from the first year (2008) to the third year (2010) of the 'Panel Study on Korean Children (PSKC)' were constructed and panel analysis was conducted. The subjects were 2,150 infants who participated in the questionnaire, and the language development of the infants was measured using the communication scores of the K-ASQ test provided by the Korean children's panel. In addition, the factors influencing the language development of infants derived from previous studies were introduced into the model. As a result of the analysis, it is shown that the fixed effect model with fixed individual error of the panel is suitable through the Hausman test. The higher the cognitive development level of the infant, the more positive parenting behavior of the infant, respectively. The conclusions and suggestions about the characteristics of the parents and the parents affecting language development were introduced.

  • The subjects, 114 mothers with infants from 6- to 24- months of age, were administered the Infant Behavior Questionnaire-Revised(Gartstein & Rothbart, 2003), Adult Temperament Questionnaire(Derryberry & Rothbart, 1988) and Parenting Efficacy(Park & Rha, 2003; Lederman, Weigarten & Lederman, 1981) Boys were more distressed than girls in limitation and in falling reactivity/rate of recovery. Parenting efficacy was greater for mothers with daughters than mothers with sons. Infants' fear and distress to limitation correlated positively with mothers' sadness. Infants' attention span correlated positively with mothers' attentional control, inhibition control and positive control. Parenting efficacy was higher in mothers whose children fall asleep easily and have longer attention spans. Mothers' positive affect and activation control increased and frustration decreased parenting efficacy.
