The Analysis of Chloride Ions Intrusion into Concrete Structure (콘크리트 구조물의 염화물이온 침투거동 해석)

  • 최근 해안환경하에 있는 콘크리트구조물의 철근부식은 구조물의 내구성 저하 및 유지관리라는 차원에서 커다란 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이와 같은 현상은 해양구조물의 건설이 날로 증가하고 있고, 또 콘크리트 제조시 잔골재의 일부를 염분이 함유된 해사를 사용함으로써 더욱 심각해지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 콘크리트 표면으로부터 침투해 들어오는 침입염분의 거동을 모델화하였으며, 콘크리트 세공속의 수용액상에 있은 염화물이온의 확산을 포함하는 물리 화학적 진행, 시멘트 수화물에 고정되는 염분의 흡착과 탈착 및 고정염과의 화학반응 등의 현상을 유한요소법에 의해 해석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 콘크리트 내부의 철근 발청시기의 예측, 해안환경하에 있는 콘크리트 구조물의 침투 염분에 의한 콘크리트 덮개의 결정, 콘크리트 구조물의 염화물이온의 허용치 설정을 비롯하여 내구년수를 예측하는데 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

A Study of Accelerated Corrosion Test and Chloride Penetration Analysis with Artificial Seawater Immersion Condition (인공해수 침지조건에 따른 부식촉진시험과 염화물침투해석에 대한 연구)

  • Steel reinforcement buried in concrete structure in submerged zone does not easily become corroded due to lack of dissolved oxygen. For that reason, accelerated corrosion test in submerged state is performed with an electrochemical method, which is not suitable for actual corrosion mechanism and makes it difficult to find relevance with long-term behavior. In this study, accelerated corrosion test was performed with the temperature and chloride concentration as main variables in order to establish a method for accelerated corrosion test in submerged zone. Corrosion was determined by the result of reinforcement corrosion monitoring based on galvanic potential measurement and half-cell potential method. The accelerated corrosion test result showed that temperature had the most dominant influence. To determine the chloride content, chloride concentration by depth in the test sample was measured. With the same conditions, chloride penetration interpretation was performed by DuCOM, a FEM durability interpretation program. Also, a test was performed to measure dissolved oxygen according to soaking conditions of artificial seawater, which was used for verifying the validity of the accelerated corrosion test result.

Chloride Penetration Analysis of Fly Ash Concrete using Potentiometric Titration and XRF (플라이애시를 혼입한 콘크리트의 전위차 적정법과 XRF를 이용한 염화물 침투 분석 )

  • In this study, a salt water immersion test was performed on concrete specimens simulating the concrete mix design of the nuclear power plant, and the correlation between the amount of chloride and the XRF component according to the depth of the concrete was analyzed. The amount of chloride on the surface of the nuclear power plant concrete increased slightly with increasing immersion time in salt water, but the amount of chloride in the depth of 5.5 mm or more showed a clear tendency to increase with increasing immersion time in salt water. As a result of analyzing the correlation between the amount of chloride in concrete and the XRF component, the concrete with 20% FA substitution compared with the OPC concrete showed a very high correlation between the composition ratio of Cl ions and the evaluation result of salt damage resistance by XRF component analysis. Accordingly, it was confirmed that chlorine ion analysis and salt damage resistance performance evaluation by XRF component analysis were possible through repeated data accumulation in the nuclear power plant concrete mix with 20% fly ash replacement.

  • The effect of ratio between chemical activating agent and raw material in the preparation of activated carbons from wood has been studied. Pinus koraiensis wood and zinc chloride ($ZnCl_2$) were used for materials in this study. Mixtures of wood and zinc chloride were heated under nitrogen flow in the temperature ranging from room-temperature to $600^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr using thermogravimetric technique. During heat treatment, activated carbons with various pore size and specific surface properties were obtained. The maximum BET surface area and total pore volume were $1468m^2/g$ and 1.74 cc/g, respectively, at the mixture ratio of 1 (wood powder) to 5 ($ZnCl_2$). It can be concluded that the differences in the properties of the activated carbons were related significantly with the ratio of chemical activating regent.

  • In this study, a water adsorbent was synthesized by radiation grafting of acrylic acid and multifunctional monomers such as 1,2-propanediol dimethacrylate (PDMA) and 1,1,1-trimethylolethane triacrylate (TMETA) onto cellulose and its subsequent treatment with 5% NaOH. Its absorbency on $H_2O$ and 0.9 % NaCl aqueous solution was examined. The highest absorbency on water and on 0.9% NaCl aqueous solution was obtained from the addition of 0.75 vol % PDDMA and of 1.0 vol % TMETA onto acrylic acid solution, respectively. The absorbency of commercial hygienic band on water and NaCl aqueous solution was 21 g/g and 22 g/g, respectively. However, that for acrylic acid-grafted cellulose including TMETA was 298 g/g and 54 g/g, respectively.

Analysis of Chloride Content in Aqueous Solution and Mortar using Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS를 활용한 수용액과 모르타르 내 염화물량 분석)

  • LIBS has been attracting attention as an analytical method capable of real-time measurement without sample preparation. In this study, a Lab. scale LIBS device was fabricated to examine the applicability and reproducibility of LIBS in the analysis of chloride contents in mortar. The existing analysis method and LIBS analysis were performed simultaneously on the mortar test specimen with the chloride content adjusted. Compared to the chloride content condition of the mortar, the XRF and Potentiometric Titration results also showed a similar trend. As a result of LIBS analysis, chlorine ions were detected at a wavelength of 837.59 nm according to the chloride content condition. In order to improve the precision in various concentration ranges, the LIBS signal amplification of about 50 times through the electric field enhancement was implemented. Through the verification of the aqueous solution-based reproducibility, a high correlation between the LIBS signal strength and the Cl concentration was confirmed, and the possibility of applying LIBS to the durability diagnosis of concrete damage by chloride was confirmed.

Dissolution and Characteristics of Antheraea pernyi Silk Fibroin Regenerated from Zinc Chloride Solution (염화아연에 의한 작잠견피브로인의 용해와 특성)

  • Dissolution of Antheraea pernyi silk fiber was carried out in a zinc chloride solution with various dissolving conditions. The solubility was significantly dependent on the concentration of zinc chloride, dissolving temperature and time. The proper conditions of dissolution were found as 8 M zinc chloride, 70$^{\circ}C$ temperature and 30 min dissolving time. Regenerated A. pernyi silk fibroin powder was obtained through dialysis. FTIR and XRD showed that regenerated A. pernyi silk powder was composed of a ${\beta}$-sheet as well as an ${\alpha}$-helix conformation.

Determination of Reactivities by Molecular Orbital Theory (V). Sigma Molecular Orbital Treatment of $S_N$ Reactivities of Alkylchlorides. (화학반응성의 분자궤도론적 연구 (제5보). 염화알킬의 친핵성치환 반응성에 대한 시그마 분자궤도론적 연구)

  • Ground electronic structures and SNreactivities of a series of alkylchlorides (methyl,ethyl, iso-propyl, trans n-butyl, sec-butyl, tert-butylchloride) have been studied using approximate $({\sigma}-MO)$ method, such as EHT and CNDO/2. It was found that CNDO/2 gives better results for the systems such as alkylchlorides whose structural differences are not remarkable, in comparison with EHT method. According to CNDO/2 results, calculated dipole moments for alkylchlorides are slightly higher than observed values, showing the order of primary < secondary < tertiary alkylchlorides. It was also found that highest occupied(HO) MO's are completely or nearly degenerate, and show relatively weak $\pi$-antibonding nature between$\alpha$-carbon and Cl atoms. Furthermore, the electrons in this MO are largely confined to Cl atom, and hence these behaves as likely as p-lone pair electrons of Cl atom. On the contrary, lowest unoccupied (LU) MO's show strong $\sigma$-antibonding nature between $\alpha$-carbon and Cl atoms whose electron clouds are directed along the C-Cl axis. It has been discussed that the$S_N2$ reactivities of alkylchlorides may largely be controlled by ${\sigma}^{\ast}$ LUMO, and the antibonding strength between $\alpha$-carbon and Cl atoms in this MO may become the measure of $S_N2$reactivity. The relationship between $S_N2$reactivity and C-Cl bond polarizability has also been discussed. It has been suggested that the unique structure factors determining $S_N1$reactivities may be $\pi$-antibonding strength between $\alpha$-carbon and Cl atoms in HOMO and C-Cl bond strength in ground state.

  • 마그네슘은 자동차 엔진 경량화재료, 휴대폰케이스 등 기능성 경량재료로서의 용도개발과 함께 수요가 증가하고 있다. 마그네슘 제련법은 원료광의 특성에 따라 달라지는데 크게 용융염전해법과 열환원법 두 가지로 구분할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 염화마그네슘을 사용하여 용융염전해법에 의해 전해 마그네슘을 얻고자 하였다. 전해전압 7V로 일정한 전극침지 깊이에서 두 가지 염욕을 비교 실험하였으며, $KCl/NaCl/MgCl_2$ 혼합 염욕을 $760^{\circ}C$에서 전해한 결과 약 47%의 전류효율을 달성할 수 있었다. 회수된 전해 마그네슘의 순도는 98% 이상이었다. 본 연구를 통하여 용융염 전해장치를 스케일엎하거나 상용화시에 장치설계 등에 필요한 기초 자료들을 축적할 수 있었다.
