Evaluation of the corrosion property on the welded zone of forged steel piston crown with types of filler metals (용접재료별 단강 피스톤 크라운 용접부위의 부식특성에 대한 평가)

  • Since the oil price has been significantly jumped for recent some years, the diesel engine of the merchant ship has been mainly used the heavy oil of low quality. Thus, it has been often exposed to severely corrosive environment more and more because temperature of the exhaust gas in a combustion chamber is getting higher and higher with increasing of using the heavy oil of low quality. As a result, wear and corrosion of most parts surrounded with combustion chamber is more serious compared to the other parts of the engine. Therefore, an optimum weldment for these parts is very important to prolong their lifetime in a economical point of view. In this study, four types of filler metals such as Inconel 625, 718, 1.25Cr-0.5Mo and 0.5Mo were welded with SMAW and GTAW methods in the forged steel which would be generally used with piston crown material. And the corrosion properties of weld metal, heat affected zone and base metal were investigated using electrochemical methods such as measurement of corrosion potential, anodic polarization curves, cyclic voltammogram and impedance etc. in 35% H2SO4 solution. The weld metal and base metal exhibited the best and worst corrosion resistance in all cases of filler metals. In particular, the weld metal welded with filler metals of Inconel 718 revealed the best corrosion resistance among the filler metals, and Inconel 625 followed the Inconel 718. Hardness relatively indicated higher value in the weld metal compared to the base metal. Furthermore, Inconel 625 and 718 indicated higher values of hardness compared to 1.25cr-0.5Mo and 0,5Mo filler metals in the weld metal.

Fabrication of $Li_2B_4O_7$ Series Single-Crystal TLDs and their TL properties ($Li_2B_4O_7$ 계열 단결정 TLD 소자의 제작과 특성)

  • High-quality single crystals of pure $Li_2B_4O_7$ as well as $Li_2B_4O_7$ doped with Cu, Mn and Mg impurities (1.0mol%, respectively) have been grown from the melt of $Li_2CO_3+2B_2O_3$ by Czochralski method in platinum crucibles. To study the thermoluminescent properties, $Li_2B_4O_7$ series single crystal TLDs were made by cutting in the size of $4{\times}5{\times}1\;mm^3$. The glow curves show two or three peaks which can be easily deconvoluted. It is observed that room temperature($20{\sim}30^{\circ}C$) fadings of the dosimetric peaks of $Li_2B_4O_7$ series single crystal TLDs were about 10 % for 30 days. The relative photon energy response for $Li_2B_4O_7$ series single crystal TLDs were about 85 % when the responses were normalized to that measured with $^{60}Co\;(1.25\;MeV)\;{\gamma}-rays$. The measured data are in a good agreement with theoretical ones. The $Li_2B_4O_7$ series single crystal TLDs fabricated in this work can be used for monitoring personal and environmental radioactivity.

SND in Fludized Media Aerobic Tank of Membrane-BNR Process (Membrane-BNR 공정의 유동상 담체 호기조내 SND 평가)

  • The advantage of simultaneous nitrification and denitrification (SND) is to reduce requirement of oxygen as well as tank volume. The fludized media was used in the oxic (aerobic) tank of Membrane-BNR to enhance the efficiency of SND. Nowadays, the interest of applying membrane to the wastewater treatment plant has been increased, which is proved by a lot of research published about the MBR. The Membrane-BNR, consisted of total 5 reactors might be called the compact process by using the fludized media and having short HRT of 6.5 hr. It could attain the further removal of not only the organics but also nutrients such as T-N and T-P. The mode A and B were identified with or without the step feed of influent. The mode A was classified with 3 modes according to the different DO concentration in the fludized media aerobic reactor, and the mode B with step feed was operated with the optimum DO condition. The step-feed was capable of improving TN removal efficiency under the domestic wastewater with the low ratio C/N. On the other hand, the efficiency of SND with the 1.0~1.5 mg/L DO in the oxic media tank was better than the one with below 1.0 mg/L, on which the nitrification did not happen enough, and with above 3.5 mg/L, on which the reduction of anoxic area in the tank happened. It means that the profitable nitrification should be performed prior to the denitrification step. The removal efficiency of nitrogen by SND was about 20% among of total denitrified nitrogen. And some organic carbon consumed could be reduced by the endogeneous denitrification.

Verification of Human Error Factors for Access Control of Bodyguards through Multiple Risk Case Analysis

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the human error of bodyguards caused in the process of performing access control activities between security missions, focusing on multiple risk cases, and to suggest countermeasures accordingly. To verify this, after arranging the sequence of events in a time series, the VTA technique and Why-Why analysis technique that can easily identify the problem centered on the variable node were used. In addition, environmental factors and personal factors that cause human errors were extracted through M-SHEL Metrix. As a result of analyzing multiple risk cases through such a method, the security environment factors that cause access control accidents include lack of time (impatience), prejudice against visitors, intensive work methods, lack of security management, unattended travel, and familiar atmosphere. (Relaxation), formal work activities, convenience provision, and underestimation were surveyed. In addition, human errors caused by personal security guards were investigated as low alertness, formal work, negligence of inspection, and comfortable coping.

3, 4성분계 DSA 전극의 제조와 성능 평가

  • 성능이 우수한 다성분계 전극을 개발하기 위하여 Ru를 주 전극성분으로 Pt, Sn, Sb 및 Gd를 보조 전극성분으로 하여 3, 4성분계 전극의 성능과 산화제 생성량 및 전극 표면 분석을 행하여 다음의 결과를 얻었다. 1. 2분 동안 단위 W당 제거된 RhB 농토는 Ru:Sn:Sb=9:1:1 > Ru:Pt:Gd=5:5:1 > Ru:Sn=9:1 > Ru:Sn:Gd=9:1:1 > Ru:Sb:Gd=9:1:1로 나타났다. Ru:Sn:Sb=9:1.1 전극에서 발생하는 free Cl, ClO$_2$ 및 H$_2$O$_2$농도가 다른 전극보다 높은 것으로 나타나 산화제 생성경향과 RhB 분해율과는 상관관계가 있는 것으로 사료되었다. 4성분계 전극 중에서 Ru:Sn:Sb:Gd 전극의 성능이 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났으나 3성분계 전극인 Ru:Sn:Sb=9:1.1 전극보다 성능이 떨어지는 것으로 나타났다. Ru:Sn:Sb=9:1:1 전극에서 생성되는 산화제 농도가 다른 두 종류의 산화제 농도보다 높은 것으로 나타났고 4성분 전극의 경우 Ru:Sn:Sb:Gd 전극의 산화제 농도가 Ru:Sn:Sb:Gd 전극이 높거나 유사한 경우로 나타나 산화제 생성 경향과 RhB분해 능과는 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 초기 RhB 분해 속도가 높은 전극의 COD 제거율도 높은 것으로 나타났다. OH 라디칼은 발생하지 않지만 염소계 산화제 농도가 높고 RhB제거율이 높아 Ru를 주 성분으로 한 전극의 RhB분해는 주로 간접 산화작용에 의한 것이며, 개발된 3, 4성분계 산화물 전극은 간접 산화용 전극임을 알 수 있었다. 에칭을 하기 전의 Ti판은 표면이 매끄러운 것으로 나타났으며, 35% 염산으로 에칭한 후의 Ti메쉬는 매우 거친 표면조직을 가지는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. Ru:Sn:Sb=9:1:1 전극과 Ru:Sn:Sb:Gd 전극의 SEM 사진을 관찰한 결과 두 전극 모두 전극 물질이 균일하게 도포되어 있었으며, 두 전극 모두 열소성을 통해 전극 성분을 코팅할 때 발생하는 "mud crack"이 발생한 것이 관찰되었다 EDX 분석에서 Cl이 관찰되었는데, 전극 성분의 불완전 산화로 인한 비양론적 산화물 때문이며 이는 RhB 분해성능과 관련 있는 것으로 사료되었다.

Hydrothermal Behaviors and Long-term Stability of Bentonitic Buffer Material (벤토나이트 완충재의 열수거동 및 장기건전성 연구)

  • In hydrothermal reaction tests, smectite-to-illite conversion was identified using a domestic bentonite which is favorably considered as a buffer material, and its dependency on various hydrothermal conditions was investigated. The analysis results of the XRD and Si concentration indicated that the smectite-to-illite conversion was a major process of bentonite alteration under the hydrothermal conditions. The temperature, potassium concentration in solution, and pH were observed to significantly affect the smectite-to illite conversion. A model of conversion reaction rate was suggested to evaluate the long-term stability of smectite composing a major constituent of bentonitic buffer. It was expected from the evaluation results that the smectite would keep its integrity for very long disposal time under a normal condition, whitens it might be converted to illite by 50 percent after over $5{\times}10^4$ year of disposal time under a conservative condition and consequently lose its swelling capacity as a buffer material of a repository.

  • Mica capacitor is being adopted for high voltage firing unit of guided weapon system because of its superior impact enduring property relative to ceramic capacitor. Reliability of localized mica high voltage capacitors was verified through environmental test like terminal strength test, humidity test, thermal shock test and accelerated life test for application to high voltage firing unit. Failure mode of mica capacitor is a decrease of insulation resistance and its final dielectric breakdown. Main constants of accelerated life model were derived experimentally and voltage constant and activation energy were 5.28 and 0.805 eV respectively. Lifetime of mica capacitor at normal use condition was calculated to be 38.5 years by acceleration factor, 496, and lifetime at accelerated condition and this long lifetime confirmed that mica high voltage capacitor could be applied for firing unit.

  • This study seeks to use the law sociological system model, to define the internal and external environmental changes that influence decisions of teacher appeals, and to analyze time-series trends of teacher appeals. This study analyzed appeal cases for 21 years from 1991 to examine number of lawsuits and relief rates by year. As a result, overall, in the case of the 1990s, the relief rates changed irregularly. However, after 2000, overall relief rates declined. This result was discussed to come from the societal request for responsibility of teachers and schools. It was suggested that, to achieve the original objective of appeal system for teachers, there should be a change toward the legal stability.

  • In this paper, I analyzed array organization of MIMO channel antenna and effect of operation environment by evaluating average BER from linear Space-Time Block Code orthogonal design and suggests designing condition of MT antenna for improved BER and the fading index m. To analyze system performance, I used M-PSK and M-QAM modulation, and to use analysis equations I used integrated by Nakagami fading variable, non-integrated Nakagami fading variable. We can get the organization of channel array by using mathematical calculation on matrix. STBE BER performance will decrease as AOA spreading decrease and such loss can be compensated from extending antenna spacing, and changing array organization.

Analysis and Assessment by Thermal Desorption Method of Mixed Organic Solvents Collected on Activated Carbon(AC) and Activated Carbon Fiber(ACF) (AC 및 ACF에 포집된 혼합 유기용제의 열탈착 방법에 따른 분석 및 평가)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate desorption efficiencies accuracy and precision by $CS_2$ and thermal desorption method for polar and non-polar organic solvents collected on activated carbon(AC), activated carbon fiber(ACF), carbosieve SIII, materials tested were Methyl alcohol, n-Hexane, Benzene, Trichloroethylene, Methyl isobutyl ketone and methyl cellosolve acetate and six different concentration levels of samples were made. The results were as follows ; 1. Accuracy on kind adsorbent and desorption method was low. In case of $CS_2$ desorption solvent, Overall B and Overall CV on AC and ACF were 43% and 6.63%, respectively. In case of thermal desorption method, accuracy of thermal desorption method appeared higher than solvent desorption method by AC 18.0%, 3.54%, ACF 2.6%, 2.57%, Carbosieve SIII 13.7% and 1.97%, respectively. 2. In the concentration level III, accuracy of thermal desorption method on adsorbent was in order as follow ; ACF > Carbosieve SIII > AC in the methyl alcohol and Carbosieve SIII > ACF > AC in the rest of them all subject material and Concentration levels showed good precision at EPA recommend standard (${\leq}{\;}30%$) 3. DEs by type of organic solvent adsorbent and desorption method are as follows ; In the case that desorption solvent is $CS_2$, DE of Methyl alcohol is AC 47.5%, DE of all materials is ACF about 50%. In the case of thermal desorption method, DE of Methyl alcohol is AC 82.0%, ACF 97.4%, Carbosieve SIII 86.3%. DE of the later case is prominently improved more than one of former. In particular, Except that DE of EGMEA is ACF 88.5%, DE of the rest of it is more than 95% which is recommend standard MDHS 72. With the result of this study, in order to measure various organic solvent occurring from the working environment, in the case of thermal desorption method, we can get the accurate exposure assessment, reduce the cost, and use ACF as thermal desorption sorbent which available with easy.
