  • 도로교통분야에서 발전된 위치기간서비스기술을 철도에 응용함으로써, 철도이용의 편의성을 향상시키고 철도의 경쟁력을 향상시키고, 비상사태 발생시의 긴급재난 경고 서비스를 비롯하여, 열차나 화차/화물등의 위치를 실시간으로 추적관리하여 운영의 효율성을 향상시키는 등 그 적용을 확대하기 위하여, 그 기반 인프라라고 할 수 있는 철도무선통신네트워크 구성에 대하여 검토하였다.

  • In this paper, we verify the driverless operation possibility of MBS, which could overcome the defects of conventional track-circuit-based FBS, such as additional needs of maintenance and others problems according to short-circuit sensibility and, and which could allow the minimal interval between trains. With MBS, we can expect the reduction of headway, then the increase of transportation demand, and the protection of unnecessary speed variation because it allows the real time detection of train position from central office, and direct transmission of data between preceding trains and the following ones. In addition, it is possible to reduce the number of wayside-equipment substantially, to improve the passenger service, and to the achieve the positive economic effects by comfortable ride.

  • As sustainable growth has been emphasized in the field of transportation, the railway system has been promoted as an environmentally-friendly transport mode. However, mode shifts from other transport modes to railway have been sluggish. In this context, to enhance the understanding of railway's competitive advantages and disadvantages, this research evaluates travelers'preferences for public transport modes for inter-regional trips: such understanding should make it possible to formulate effective policy for promoting railways. To this end, passenger recognition of competitive transport modes has been measured by applying multidimensional scaling analysis for six major inter-regional public transport services - KTX, ITX-Samaeul, Mugunghwa-ho, premium express bus, general express bus, and airline. As a result, we can conceptualize the recognition similarity in two-dimensional space, and understand how travelers perceive the six major transport modes.

  • We may consider the inducement of demand to public transportation as a solution to relieve traffic congestion and pollution. Subway has merits as moving on schedule, transporting more people than bus. But subway is required a vast investment in the early stage of construction has a huge debt. So it runs into red figures, and on this account, services of subway are falling more and more. Development of subway's operation cost function is useful to understand structure of subway's operation and catch the relations of operation cost and actual results. In addition, we can present the policy that is a helpful to the operation as development of operation cost function. But there are short of studies about operation cost deal with a subway comparison with local train. Because local train has many lines and data, on the other hand, subway has one to four lines and less data. Most of previous studies sought the operation cost function of Seoul. So this study aimed to develop and apply the operation cost function of Seoul, Incheon, Busan and Daegu area using full allocation method. In this study, we considered the number of passengers, track-km, train-km, revenue as actual results. By appling the operation cost function, we compared the average cost of each city and confirmed the existence of economies of scale about the number of passengers, train-km.

A Study for Reliability Improvement of Passenger Service Equipment using Failure Analysis (고장 분석을 통한 승객서비스 장치의 신뢰성 향상방안 연구)

  • The Passenger Service Equipment(PSE) provide various train operation data such as flag station data. When PSE incur service failures or errors, passengers who use the train feel great inconvenience. In this paper, I have chosen PSE that were important to passengers and have applied Reliability Centered Maintenance(RCM), deviating from the existing perspective that operators have taken to perform RCM. FMEA/FMECA was performed for reliability analysis of the PSE. The highly critical device among the PSE is defined as the Passenger Information Control System(PICS), which is used to control the automatic announcement and signaling board. Through Weibull distribution of the PICS, failure analysis was performed. Based on the analyzed results, I have proposed a solution that will minimize service failure of PICS.

Analysis of Trial Test for ATP On-board Equipment of Tilting Train (틸팅열차 ATP 차상장치의 시운전시험 분석)

  • In this paper we describe contents and results on running test for ATP on-board equipment, which has propelled as one of the research projects, so called, "Reliability assessment and operation technology development for Korean-type tilting trains" in order to ensure the safety and operation efficiency of tilting trains. We developed tilting trains for the speed-up of conventional lines and for the passenger service improvement where the KTX is not available. And we made progress the operation trial test in the 120,000 km distance with the use of ATS equipment, used in existing lines, for the purpose of the reliability assessment of the developed tilting trains. We decided to accelerate the speed for more than 200km/h with respect to the 6 existing lines including Jungang-line and Chungbuk-line where KTX has not operated. According to this decision, Train control system is to be changed from ATS to ATP. We should have installed an ATP on-board unit in tilting trains and verified the operational suitability, therefore we installed the same ATP on-board unit on tilting trains as that used in the ATP construction project on Gyeongbu-line and Honam-line, and verified that the function and performance of the installed ATP on-board unit conformed to the tilting trains operation.

  • The railway signalling system plays an essential role in the safe and efficient train operation as serving control functions of train operation intervals and train routes. The reliability and safety of the system are very important because the failure of the railway signalling system can lead to train collision or derailment as well as train operation stop. Until now, in railway signalling system the conventional wayside signal mode has been used generally. There are, however, the risk of accidents such as human mistakes caused by that the driver identifies the signal lamp status and controls train speed with the naked eye. It is also necessary to refurbish the obsolete system. Thereby, It is being effective that the onboard signal mode has been recently introduced and applied in order to transmit the speed control information to train by using the computer and communication equipment. It is necessary to switch over the system in a way while providing passengers with an operation service to replace the obsolete signal system. In this paper, we verify the cases through trial assessment which are solved by the way of adding specific functionalities in the problems of interference among the procedure of switch-over processes and a serial of processes for system verification while a train is operated in the new system in parallel to the existing system.

  • 기존선 속도향상, 안전성 확보, 수송서비스 개선을 목표로 하는 철도기술연구개발사업은 고객에게 고품질의 서비스를 제공하고 타 교통시스템과의 경쟁력을 확보하기 위하여 주관행정부처인 철도청과 전문기관인 한국철도기술연구원에서 추진하고 있다. 이 사업은 1999년 12월 철도기술연구개발사업 기본계획을 수립하여 2001년 8월 한국철도기술연구원을 사업자로 선정하고 총 400억의 정부지원예산을 투입하여 2006년 7월까지 5차 년도에 걸쳐 기존선 속도향상을 위한 실용화 기술개발을 목표로 하고 있다. (중략)

  • 철도에서의 정보제어시스템은 열차무선망을 제외하고는 지금까지 유선전송망에 대부분 의존하고 있으며, 철도선로를 따라 대용량의 전용회선을 포설할 수 있다는 측면에서 효과적으로 설치가 가능하고, 안전성과 신뢰성의 측면에서도 우수성이 입증되었다. 그러나, 정보화가 진전됨에 따라, 여객서비스나 철도시스템 제어기능의 강화 측면에서 전송계통의 유연화와 정보교환개소의 확대가 요구되고 있으며, 유선전송으로는 이러한 요구에 충분히 대응할 수 없게 되었다. (중략)

Hub-and-spokes service network design for rail freight transportation (철도화물운송을 위한 Hub-and-spokes서비스네트워크 디자인모형의 개발)

  • Hub-and-spokes전략은 교통분야에서 널리 이용되는 네트워크전략이지만, 철도의 경우 대개 이 전략을 이용하기 어려운 네트워크구조를 가지고 있어 그 적용사례를 찾아보기 어렵다. 그러나 유럽에서는 철도망이 도로망처럼 조밀하게 형성되어 있다는 점과 환적 처리기술의 발달로 90년대 초부터 이 전략이 철도화물운송부문에도 도입되기 시작했다. 이러한 관점에서 본 논문은 철도화물운송망에서의 hub-and-spokes전략을 구현하는 서비스네트워크 디자인모형을 개발하고, 모델의 실제철도망에의 적용성을 평가한다. 개발되는 모형이 전략모형임에도 불구하고 모형에서는 일반화된 운영비용 외에 열차속도, 서비스빈도, 터미널에서의 화물처리속도 등에 따른 시간지체비용도 고려되었다. 시간지체비용의 고려에 따라 야기되는 비선형 목적함수는 빈도별 서비스결정변수의 설정을 통해 선형화되어 결과적으로 모형은 선형 binary정수 최적화문제로 표현되었다. 규모가 큰 네트워크의 경우 해도출의 어려움 때문에 본 논문은 전체문제의 분할(decomposition)에 기초한 휴리스틱방법((heuristic method)으로 해결한다. 해도출의 효율성을 높이기 위해 서비스빈도개선과 관련하여 세 알고리즘이 개발되었다. 개발된 알고리즘은 유럽의 실제네트워크를 기초로 도출한 4개의 테스트문제에 적용되어, 해의 정확도와 해 도출의 효율성이 비교·평가되었다.
